spell craft skill [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-25-07, 12:34 PM can some one tell me if spell craft is used for other stuff than crafting Magic items/potions? or am I correct in my thinking?

07-25-07, 12:44 PM Ya, it's used for a whole bunch of other stuff. . . identifying spell in effect/being cast, reading magic scrolls, identifying specific auras when using detect spells, to name a few.

Check the skill description in the SRD.

07-25-07, 01:15 PM Actually it does nearly everything but crafting potions. You craft potions and magic items with the various item creation feats. Spellcraft has a complete table with everything it can be used for (and how difficult it is to do) on page 82 of the Player's handbook.
