| jadehawk03-15-07, 12:08 AM | is there a feat that allows you to cast spells while raging? |
| J.B.03-15-07, 12:24 AM | There are none that I know of, however there is a spellcasting class called the "Rage-Mage" in complete warrior that allows this ability. Good Luck:) |
| bloodtalon03-15-07, 10:35 AM | i agree with J.B. that si the only way to do it |
| CantripN03-15-07, 01:05 PM | Though a warning is in order... Rage Mage is a sad, sad class. It's pathetic. I tried to make it work... Really, I did. It doesn't work. |
| AngeltheImmortalofHelm03-15-07, 01:41 PM | Though a warning is in order... Rage Mage is a sad, sad class. It's pathetic. I tried to make it work... Really, I did. It doesn't work. it makes no since at all *Roar* I'm so ****** *barbarian throws down weapon* Magic Missle time lol |
| jadehawk03-15-07, 05:41 PM | I just have a hard time with raging and the loss of control...i know how odd that sounds...sure there should be restrictions, and the AC penalty makes a lot of sense, but my heritage history lesson is that the berserkers harnessed there rage into focused blasts...it was not as chaotic and imbalanced as D&D or fantasy literature may represent it...mind you it is terribly ferocious and imprudent... I'm building a character who starts as a barbarian, but learns to harness it into a ball of vicious sweeping strikes...I suppose the character is a figurative representation of what I see as berserker rage. |
| Moccanime03-17-07, 07:24 AM | Take a look at the Rage Mage in complete warrior. But is is kinda a weak class. I suggest chaning it to a 5 level prc. Throw out the class features "angry spell", "tireless rage" and "warrior cry". Change "spell rage" to be a modification of normal rage instead of a different type of rage and give "spell fury" as the level 5 ability. |
| runestar03-17-07, 08:33 AM | Use wands...:P |
| Silvercrys03-17-07, 08:42 AM | Well, if you're looking at focused blasts... There's always the Warlock from Complete Arcane. That could work well if you downplayed the Fiend heritage and just went the Eldritch Blast/Invocations as spells. |
| sigma99903-21-07, 08:50 PM | I could remake the whole Ragemage class into a single feat and it won't be overpowered. In fact, it would resemble those cross-class synergy feats like the one that benefits sorc/monks.... The new feat would allow casting while in rage without additional per-day uses on top of x/day rages; it would simply allow more capabilities, and enhance them by scaling. Maybe 2-3 other feats might follow, mimicing the way Barbarian class features enhance melee combat as they level. |
| Frugal03-21-07, 09:52 PM | If memory serves, the Tainted Raver template in Heroes of Horror puts you under the effects of rage permanently but does allow you to use spells. Granted it's usually applied on creatures that were driven insane by taint so not exactly a good PC option. |
| CantripN03-22-07, 12:52 PM | Also, I'd recently seen a feat that allow you to cast Swift Action spells during a rage... Including Quickened Spells, of course. I forgot where it's from. Dragon, I presume. |
| warbird10603-28-07, 08:45 PM | What would be believable though, is an ability that lets you channel arcane or divine energy into your rage, i.e. giving you bonuses or abilities, such as if you expended a fire spell, your weapon would become a flaming weapon for the duration of your rage, or a cold spell, cold weapon, etc. |
