I wanted to play a cleric able to whip off a few Summon Monsters on the fly but it doesn't seem possible. It only works on Summon Nature's Ally spells. Only Druids & Rangers even have this spell on their spell list. Druids already have the ability & while it might be nice as a ranger to take this feat it isn't exactly a high priority. Even clerics with the Animal Domain can't use it. There is probably a few non core or PrCs that can take it, but I'm wondering who? |

What you want is something SIMILAR to this feat. But to be honest, you ALREADY have a class ability that is similar. It is called Spontaneous Healing/Inflict. As your DM, I would offer you the following feat: Spontaneous Clerical Summoner. Wis 13, Knowledge (The Planes) 4 ranks, able to cast any summon Monster spell, Domain slot spells. Benefit: You can spontaneously cast summon Monster spells (from your class spell list) using your DOMAIN slots only. You may use this ability a total number of times per day equal to your Wisdom modifier |

A nice feat for Rangers if they have a free slot, not great for combat as their summons are behind the power curve so to speak but a good way for them to get a bit more versatility out of the # spells per day they get. I don't even have Complete Divine so it would be hard for me to change to a spirit shaman. If I was really keen I'm sure my DM would homebrew an equivalent feat for me (knowing my group it probably wouldn't be limited to domain slots as they aren't as strict as you Tarkin, they like power, I like interesting ideas), but my imagination is fertile enough to come up an alternative, namely memorising them :) It is a bit sad though as I really wanted a Summoners Totem to go with it & then I saw it also only applies to nature's ally. I'll just have to play a Druid someday, except I hate the class :pbbbtt: When you look at it as being some Ranger love though it makes perfect sense, hmm, maybe I can use it as a Ranger ... Too many concepts, considering each campaign we play last six months to a year I'll never play all the character ideas I had this week alone let alone over my life, I want a clone machine |
