I can't find the Superior Unarmed Strike feat, or more importantly, what it does. I've always thought that one should be able to improved their unarmed skills as a fighter without taking monk levels, like they've done with the martial arts feats in D20 modern and StarWars. OR am I WRONG? :D

It's in ToB: Book of Nine Swords. Basically it improves your unarmmed attacks by one damage die. For example normal unarmmed strike is 1d4, goes up to 1d6 instead.

Works a bit different for a monk.

Superior Unarmed Strike is in the Tome of Battle. It gives a scaling damage bonus based on character level to unarmed strikes similiar to a monks, though not quite as potent. It's prerequisite is... Improved Unarmed Strike.

Edit: For a monk, it works as if the monk is four levels higher for unarmed damage purposes.

It's in ToB: Book of Nine Swords or the PHB II. Basically it improves your unarmmed attacks by one damage die. For example normal unarmmed strike is 1d4, goes up to 1d6 instead. That's Improved Natural Attack. Superior Unarmed Strike grants a damage progression, or boosts a Monk's damage by a few levels.

It is in Tome of Battle, though.

I don't know if there is a feat like that, but if there is not I like to look at other feats for comparison. For an example there is Heavy armor optimization.. but no light or medium...I compare and make a house rule so you can make Light and Medium armor Optimization...requirments in level, BaB, Caster Level and alike stay the same...So I would suggest that you look how similar feats progress...Example: Weapon Focus, Weapon Specilization, (ever 4 levels and WF feats give you each time +1 attack bonus and WS give you +2 damage bonus)

It is in Tome of Battle, you need to read the text as this thread is not a good place to get an accurate picture of what the feat does.

It has several pre-reqs and variable mechanics based on who is taking the feat.

No one can post the details (legally) and the accurate details are not contained in this thread so far.

ahhh, okay. Guess i'll have to find it out there somewhere, or shell out the 30 bucks for the feat alone.

Trust me, the rest of the book is worth it. :-D

True enough that it's not open game content, but...

How does a base attack requirement and a feat requirement (2) count as several pre-reqs? And how does scaling unarmed strike damage not describe what it does for a non-monk character?

Sorry, I had to join in with the other 15 people who said that ;)
