Surprising Cleave [Fighter]
Prerequisites: BAB +5, Str 15+, Power Attack, Cleave
Benefit: When you make an extra attack using the Cleave or Great Cleave feats, the target of that attack is considered flat-footed against you for that attack.

Thoughts? I've been playing a fighter/bard using the Hit and Run Tactics ACF from DotU, which allows me to add my Dex bonus to damage against flat-footed baddies. With an 18 Dex, that's not insignificant, so I've been looking for more ways to get that bonus.

Wow. Nothing? I thought it was a pretty neat idea, personally.

huh, that's an interesting idea.. *ponders* Now, remember that cleave already has a pre-req of STR 13+ and power attack, so should be written down in your own pre-req.

now, this 'breaks' where you have lots of dice in sneak attack or something, but only after you manage to drop a foe in the first place. so most likely not an issue, though you coudl always bump the Str from 123 to 15 if needed to balance it.

I figured that if you don't have Str 13+ and Power Attack, you lose your qualification for Cleave, and thus you lose your qualification for this feat. But I see nothing wrong with adding it into the pre-req list.

I thought about doing that, and may yet implement such a change. It would make a pretty evil way to boost a rogue, though, wouldn't it? Sneak-Attack, drop a dude, cleave, SA another dude, cleave... But that's a significant investment in feats for a rogue, especially if that rogue wanted to do it multiple times per round (Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, Surprising Cleave). Even assuming a human rogue, that's still a minimum of 9th level before you get a feat and have the required BAB. You could twink it out with some Fighter levels, of course, but then you're sacrificing SA and skills.
