I was trying to come up with something a little like the Three Musketeers. How does this sound:

Sword Brother
Prerequisites:
Dexterity 13
Base Attack Bonus +1
While using a melee weapon that you are proficient with, you provide a +1 shield bonus to an ally who is within 5 feet (1 square); uses an Attack of Opportunity.

Improved Sword Brother
Prerequisites:
Base Attack Bonus +4
Combat Reflexes
Increases shield bonus to +2; is now a free action.

This idea works with Shieldmate, so why not with a melee weapon? This is specifically for agile fighters standing side-by-side with someone you know and work well with.

I like it, actually. The fact that it provides a bonus for someone else is an appropriate balancing factor. The prerequisite is skill (BA) not ability (Dex), which makes sense. And if you get two of them together, they can cover each other, but only if they're back-to-back.

Instead of an attack of opportunity, though, I'd suggest a Swift action.

I wonder if it would be over-powered to create a kind of synergy. If you're standing next to a "Sword Sibling," you both get +2. Too much?

Given that its a "shield" bonus, and not an untyped bonus I would recommend improving these feats somewhat.

I suggest that it is an automatic action (for both feats), and that the bonus(es) are doubled if both have the same feat.

Considdering how two weapon defence works, and that this one requires an ally and that two weapon defence isn't a sought after feat my conclusion is final.

I'd say the feats should grant a shield bonus to all adjacent allies whenever you are wielding a melee weapon and are not flat-footed, with no action required and no AoO loss. If you fight defensively or take total defense, the bonus should double.

So it would be like TWD, but for your allies instead of yourself. The prereqs are lower though, which I think is reasonable.

If you want to sharpen the flavor, restrict it to weapons that can be used with Weapon Finesse.

I like Jaelis' version better than mine ;)
