| kerubo02-28-07, 09:34 AM | I'm currently playing 'Cleric/Apostle of Peace' character with Vow of Poverty (and other Vows) feat. Every 2nd lvl I gain bonus exalted feat. So I have to pick up quite a lot of exalted feats. Which one do you think are worth considering? (Exalted Turning, Nymph's Kiss, Nimbus of Light, Stigmata or maybe something totally different?) |
| RobbyPants02-28-07, 11:16 AM | I don't have my books with me, so I can't be a huge amount of help. If I remember correctly, the Apostle of Peace has Vow of Peace and/or Vow of Non-violence as prereqs? If so, that pretty much kills your ability to take Touch of Golden Ice. That one can be great for any monks with Vow of Poverty. As for your suggestions: Exalted Turning - This one is nice, espescially if you encounter a lot of undead. Although, as your level increases, the damage will not be so useful (as you should be outright destroying any undead you turn, making the 3d6 damage meaningless). Nymph's Kiss - I don't remember offhand what this does, so no comment :P Nimbus of Light - I remember this one being cool, both for RP reasons, and for effect. There should also be another feat (Holy Radience, or something like that) that builds off of this. Stigmata - I think this one is kind of cool, but a high enough level cleric might not need it's effects for healing others. Again, could be cool for RP reasons. Again, if I had my books, I'd try and recomend some others. What role exactly do you want to fill in your party? How do you plan on playing the character? Some of these insights might help with the feat choice. Good luck! :D |
| kerubo02-28-07, 02:35 PM | For the time being I have 4 exalted feats (Sacred Vow, Vow of Poverty, Vow of Nonviolence and Vow of Peace). I was thinking about taking feats (I need 9) as follow: Nymph's Kiss: +2 bonus to CHA related checks; +1 bonus on all saving throws against spells and spell-like abilities; 1 extra skill point per lvl. Nimbus of Light: +2 to Diplomacy and Sense Motive when interacting with good creatures. About other I'm not that sure: Exalted Spell Resistance [+4 to spell against evil spells and abilities] Exalted Turning [Extra 3d6 dmg when turning] Gift of Faith [+2 bonus on saving throws to resist fear and despair effects] Holy Radiance [1d4 dmg per round dealt to undead within 10 feet] Servant of the Heavens [+1 luck bonus on any roll or check] Stigmata [Heal other by taking CON dmg] Vow of Abstinence [+4 perf. bonus on Fort saves against poisons and drugs] Vow of Obedience [+4 perf. bonus on Will saves against compulsions] Vow of Purity [+4 perf. bonus on Fort saves against disease and death effects] Words of Creation [Ability to use Words of Creation] And some feats from other books /CoV & PGtF/: Defender of the Homeland [+1 sacred bonus to AC and immunity to fear while in your homeland] Gift of Discernment [Duplicates knowledge provided by phylactery of faithfulness] Knight of Tyr's Merciful Sword [Sense greatest evil within 1 mile or 10 miles, +1 sacred bonus to AC against demons] Lliira's Blessing [Gain +2 sacred bonus on Escape Artist checks and saves against effects that leave you paralyzed, held, or entangled] As I said I need 'only' 9 feats. :) Which one do you think are good? (you could for instance use points {from 1 to 10} and so on). Cheers :) |
| kerubo03-02-07, 12:00 PM | Some people are playing using additional set of exalted feats, as follow: Vow of Honesty Prerequisite: Sacred Vow You have taken a sacred vow to speak no lies. Benefit: You gain a +10 perfection bonus to any Sense Motive check that involves determining if someone else is lying or attempting to hide something. Vow of Silence Prerequisite: Sacred Vow You have taken a sacred vow not to speak. You receive a +4 perfection bonus to Listen and Move Silent checks. Light of Truth Prerequisites: Cha 17, Nimbus of Light, Sacred Vow, Vow of Honesty. Whenever your Nimbus of Light is active, anyone within it's direct illumination (5', or 10' with Holy Radiance) is affected as if by a Zone of Truth with a save DC equal to 10 + 1/2 your Character level + your Charisma modifier. Light of Discernment Prerequisites: Wis 17, Nimbus of Light. Whenever your Nimbus of Light is active, the area of it's direct illumination (5', or 10' with Holy Radiance) is affected as if by an Invisibility Purge. Light of Revelation Prerequisites: Wis 19, Nimbus of Light, Holy Radience, Light of Discernment, Sacred Vow, Vow of Honesty. Whenever your Nimbus of Light is active, the area of it's direct illumination (5', or 10' with Holy Radiance) is visible to any onlookers as if they had True Sight active. Light of Wrath Whenever your Nimbus of Light is active, any evil, sighted opponent who attempts to attack you must make a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 Character level + Cha modifier ) or be dazzled for one round. FOE OF PERDITION Prerequisites: Chaotic Good alignment, Wisdom 16+, Knight of Stars. Benefit: For every four character levels you possess, you gain a +1 sacred bonus for all rolls (attack and damage rolls, saving throws, and skill checks) while fighting devils and other evil creatures native to the Nine Hells of Baator. BANE OF DEMONS (Exalted) Prerequisites: Lawful Good alignment, Wisdom 16+, Servant of the Heavens. Benefit: For every four character levels you possess, you gain a +1 sacred bonus for all rolls (attack and damage rolls, saving throws, and skill checks) while fighting demons and other evil creatures native to the Infinite Layers of the Abyss. What do you think about these? :) |
| RobbyPants03-02-07, 03:35 PM | What do you think about these? :) Vow of Honesty I like this one quite a bit Vow of Silence Interesting, but very limiting! Light of Truth Possibly a bit powerful. If the prereqs were high enough, I'd like it. I'd make sure that you had to have Vow of Honesty first. Light of Discernment Also a pretty good one, but maybe a bit powerful. Perhaps it wouldn't be certain. Maybe you would need to make a caster level check (like displel magic) or invisible foes could attempt a saving throw. Light of Revelation This one is even more powerful than the last, and I think it might be a little too hard to balance. Light of Wrath Nice flavor, and not too powerful (IIRC, dazzeled gives you -1 to hit) FOE OF PERDITION Prerequisites: Chaotic Good alignment, Wisdom 16+, Knight of Stars. This one is kind of interesting. I like how it scales with level. I'd consider making the Wis prereq 17, as most (official) feats I've seen have odd ability prereqs. BANE OF DEMONS (Exalted) Same as above. |
| TheCobra03-02-07, 03:59 PM | Nymph's Kiss is amazing. Take that one for sure. |
| The.Vortex03-02-07, 06:07 PM | Nymph's Kiss is amazing. Take that one for sure. Yes, the effect of Nymphs Kiss is amazing, but for RP reasons its kinda whacky since its powers originate from an ongoing sexual relation to a nymph.. that doesn't really fit into most campaigns :( I am playing a Kalashtar Soulknife with VoP right now and don't have THAT many choices left.. for people who are not monks or clerics, there are quite few exalted feats that are usefull... |
| TheCobra03-02-07, 08:56 PM | Yes, the effect of Nymphs Kiss is amazing, but for RP reasons its kinda whacky since its powers originate from an ongoing sexual relation to a nymph.. that doesn't really fit into most campaigns Who wouldn't want an ongoing sexual relationship with a nymph? ;) That's that roleplaying benefit. Not only does your character get great mechanical bonuses, he or she gets a lover of unearthly beauty. Could be a useful ally, too, especially at lower levels. Note that it can be any good-aligned fey, not just a nymph. And you interpret "intimate" however you wish. It doesn't have to be sexual. |
| kerubo03-03-07, 10:06 AM | I edited my previous post (prereqs for all aditional feats - some of them are quite high). What do you think guys about the feats from BoED, CoV & PGtF (listed in my 3rd post)? Which are good? (Nimbus of Light and Nymp's Kiss, that for sure, but what about the others???) |
| kerubo03-04-07, 07:47 AM | One more question. When exactly "bonus to CHA related checks" can be used? (Nymph's Kiss bonus). The only one I can think of is Turning Undeads. Cheers. :D |
| nameneeded03-04-07, 01:28 PM | One more question. When exactly "bonus to CHA related checks" can be used? (Nymph's Kiss bonus). The only one I can think of is Turning Undeads. Cheers. :D Any CHR skill check when dealing with good alined people. Like diplomacy. And I don't think it has to be an ongoing relationship. Just a passed one. And sex is not whats implied as far as I can tell. To me you proved yourself a very close friend who they could confide in and as such they blessed/ marked you so other fey would know you are one of the few that can be trusted/ respected. To the OP. What are your plans with this character? I am always skeptical about charcacters that affect group actions. I mean with the vow of peace your party can't really fight effectivly unless your taking the repercussions. With Vow of non violence your suppose to avoid it at all costs and even then only nonleathal damage....oh wait with the VoP you can't even fight. I mean aside from a npc dipomat I can't see how this character benifits a group. I mean you can't even be a cleric technically. Holy symbols cost money. Like 1gp thus you can't have one as per VoP. |
