No, I don't want to create stats for Kratos from God of War, but I do want to try and recreate that fighting style in D&D, and the first thing I need is a weapon, as well as feats and abilities, and eventually a class

The two most likely choices in my mind are the Dire Whip Dagger and the Spiked Chain.
The Dire Whip Dagger is probably the better choice, as it can be duel wielded and used for grappling, and has better range. I don't know if the daggers can still be used for good 'ol stabby stabby or not.

As for feats, I'm not very familair with any that utilize whips and chains, besides obvious things like Weapon Focus.

Barbarian and/or Warblade is the obvious choice for this style. Anything that encourages grabbing and throwing your opponent, all the while being as brutal as possible, is what I'm going for.
Would the various throwing manuevers in the Setting Sun style work with whips?
A Barbarian varient in Complete Champian grants Improved Grab (not Improved Grapple). Can this be used with a whip or chain?

Hmm, this would be neat for a Kyton, no? :plotting:

look in the DMG for stats on Kusari-Gama (slashing spiked chain) and modify it to do more damage and be 1 handed. This makes sense but I think its better than any other non-magical melee weapon in existence. I'm hesitant to increase the threat range.

Chain Blades
1 Handed
Damage: d10
Critical Threat: x3
Type: Exotic Slashing
Special: Reach 10 feet. +2 to disarm. Can also be used as a bastard sword (d10 damage, 19-20x2), less the reach and +2 to disarm.
The only downside is that it requires two exotic weapon proficiencies to dual wield to full effect.

As far as the class goes, a custom one would probably work best.

Oh, right, I guess thats not a well known weapon.

A whip dagger has a dagger or blade attached to the end, which allows it to deal lethal damage, even against armored opponents.

A dire whip is heavy and allows you to add your strength mod to the damage.

A Dire Whip Dagger combines the above two.

All these weapons are in the Arms and Equipment Guide, and are therefore 3.0.

Ooh, I forgot about the Kusari-Gama! Good suggestion. That might work even better than the whip dagger.

where did those stats come from? as it stands that is now the single best weapon in the game. i'd give it closer to
exotic 1-handed weapon
1d8 damage
x2 crit
reach 10, +2 disarm, ability to trip

or keep it at 1d6 and light to be able to dual-wield them more effectively.

I've got part of the build down. I'll be using a Half-Giant (without power points or the Stomp ability so that its only LA +0).
That'll get me the Heavy Frame quality, which really helps this character a whole lot. I'll also be taking a Barbarian varient in Complete Champion that grants Improved Grab. That means free grapple attempts any time I hit with a weapon.
Oh, and I'll be using a masterwork Kusari-Gama, but increased to large size. As AAB said, that'll get me this weapon:

Blades of Chaos (non-magical):
exotic 1-handed weapon
1d8 damage
x2 crit
reach 10, +2 disarm, ability to trip

I also plan on going into Swordsage and specialize in Setting Sun and Tiger Claw to allow for all the cool throwing, grappling, and jumping attacks. I would have prefered Warblade, but they don't get Setting Sun school.

I kinda skimmed, but I don't think anyone mentioned this. Other than that this particular topic seems more appropriate for the Equipment and Combat section, Issue #328 of Dragon magazine has the stats for The Anarch Razors, which are based off of Kratos' weapons, and a single feat in that section, too.

So if you get the chance, check that out, see if it's what you want.
