| dndlocke08-12-07, 11:18 PM | I'm currently working on a character whose primary purpose is to throw things, is there any feat that modifies this? I know about the throw anything, but i thought there was one that boosts damage. Wasn't sure, is there any classes that aids this kind of thing as well? |
| TorgSmackie08-12-07, 11:47 PM | Quick Draw, Point Blank Shot, Far Shot, Weapon Focus. |
| dndlocke08-12-07, 11:50 PM | more like something from the complete series? i got the Phb and read up on the feats, but is there something to do additional damage when throwing a weapon? or like a boost to range beyond players? |
| TorgSmackie08-13-07, 12:00 AM | Brutal Throw lets you use Strength on the attack roll instead of Dex. Power Throw works just like Power Attack for thrown weapons. That's pretty much as good as it gets. The only feats to improve attacks and damage beyond that are the same feats that boost all fighting styles; the Weapon Focus tree. |
| dndlocke08-13-07, 12:02 AM | i found a few like mountain warrior, earth sense tree because i assume id be in contact with the ground when throwing or shooting. Even so It gives boosts to melee attacks n such, so it's not too bad, but is there a class that boosts dmg to thrown, or gives bonuses? i'm a halfling so i spose i could excel at it. |

If you want a class built for throwing things, then you definitely want the Master Thrower from Complete Warrior. If you like Slings, look at the Warsling Sniper from Races of Faerun. |
| Hsien08-13-07, 09:39 AM | If you have have 4 levels of Fighter and specilize. Feat: Ranged Weapon Mastery ( weapon type ) +2 Hit/ +2 Damage +20' Range Increment This bonus apllies to all thrown weapons you use that have that weapon type you select..ie piercing, bludgeoning, slashing. This bonus also stacks with WF/WS. |
| dndlocke08-13-07, 10:50 AM | i was attempting to make a shuriken thrower kinda guy, 1lv monk, rest fighter, unarmored, using 3 per attack rules, dealing 1 dmg each. Just wondering if there is boosts to them to makem more deadly, since at our campaigns level of 3 i can't really get my hands on too much poison. Just whatever I can harvest off of kills. |
| Majick08-13-07, 11:07 AM | Yeah, the Master Thrower PrC is gonna be your best bet when you can get it man; it's 5 levels long, full BaB i believe, and eventually you can throw two weapon in one attack roll, and make those rolls as TOUCH attacks instead of ranged attacks... very cool (o'course you don't get your strength to the damage, but, meh) PS. Take the Two Weapon Fighting skill tree and Quick Draw and you can, quite literally, throw a withering hail of Shuriken just think... eventually: 4 main attacks... 3 off-hand... double shuriken in each... poison on all of them! :D HAHA! MAKE 14 FORTITUDE SAVES! |
| dndlocke08-13-07, 11:18 AM | he uses the 3 shuriken for 1 attack roll variant, no str to dmg, 1 dmg each, and he allowed rapid shot to affect the attacks along with flurry. But yeah, a hail storm of shuriken. |
| EjoThims08-13-07, 02:26 PM | A monk 6/Shou Disciple 5/Master Thrower5/X 4 (fighter or rogue usually) with TWF tree, Rapid Shot, Brutal Throw, and Power Throw is sexy. Throw daggers instead of shuriken (since they work with palm throw as well). 7 MH throws and 3 OH throws... 20 daggers a round as touch attacks that you can essentially power attack on. Oh, and Quick Draw comes as a bonus feat from Master Thrower, so no need to waste a feat on it. ^.^ |
| EjoThims08-13-07, 02:28 PM | he uses the 3 shuriken for 1 attack roll variant, no str to dmg, 1 dmg each, and he allowed rapid shot to affect the attacks along with flurry. But yeah, a hail storm of shuriken. In this case, you'd be able to throw 60 shuriken a round with only 10 attack rolls. And they'd all be touch attacks you can essentialy power attack with. |
| dndlocke08-14-07, 02:36 PM | If you have have 4 levels of Fighter and specilize. Feat: Ranged Weapon Mastery ( weapon type ) +2 Hit/ +2 Damage +20' Range Increment This bonus apllies to all thrown weapons you use that have that weapon type you select..ie piercing, bludgeoning, slashing. | TorgSmackie08-14-07, 02:44 PM | Player's Handbook II. Three shuriken per attack isn't really a variant, it's how shuriken worked in 3.0. So I guess you could call it a downgrade. |
