I seem to specifically recall something along the lines of a feat granting you use of your unarmed strikes as two handed weapons, but I can't seem to find it. Am I going crazy? Is it a class level, not a feat? Did I misinterpret something? If not, can someone please remind me of it's name and book? Danke.

Dredging up old memories, my brain is tellng me it's Hammer Blow, in Races of Faerun. it's Dwarf only.

That's right, it allowed you treat an Unarmed Strike as a Two-Handed weapon, but as I recall, you couldn't Flurry of Blows this way.

Thank you; would've taken me a while, heheheh. Still, didn't it limit you to a single attack though, or something along those lines. If so, is there a better way to go about obtaining such a feature?

Take your hands and clasp them together?

That's what the feat is.

I like the feat, it has some flavor and I don't think you could say it "overpowers" unarmed combat any. I allow any race to take it.

Or why even make it a feat? Most Monk feats that are out there most dedicated Martial Artists already have. Say if your playing a human monk that starts the game at age 23, it's a bit unrealistic that he didn't learn, in his 18 years of training, how to attack with both hands at the same time. And he would only have 3 feats from his lifetime of training? Monks are too feat starved =(

That's more than a Fighter of the same age, or a Wizard that could be decades older. I think that's quite alright.

Technically, it only lets you apply 1.5 str mod to damage on unarmed strikes. You are still treated as 1-handed for say, power attack purposes.:P

I was right? Holy crap.

Hehe, my friends and I call it the Kirk. Because of this, we never use it (mental imagery is too lame).

Oh, really? That seems really lame.

This is the way I do it.

HAMMERFIST STRIKE
Prerequisites: Flurry of blows ability, Weapon Focus (unarmed), base attack bonus +4, Str 13.
Benefit: When performing a flurry of blows, you may sacrifice your extra attack to treat your unarmed strikes as a two-handed weapon for one round. Any penalty to your attack roll from flurry of blows applies normally.

I've never really read anything Faerun-related.

Well then, I believe all characters are feat starved:P

I thought there was a Sage ruling that unarmed strikes could be 2 handed without resorting to feats.

Even if such a rule existed, what would be the point? Unarmed strikes are light weapons. Wielding a light weapon two handed doesn't get you the 1.5 strength bonus benefit to damage.

And also note when wielding a quarterstaff two handed and doing a flurry of blows with it negates the benefit of 1.5 strength bonus to damage too.

So it would make sense to me if you do want to give a monk some way to get 1.5 strength damage with unarmed strikes (whether by feat or just by houserule), the monk can't do a flurry of blows with it.

However, wouldn't it help for Disarming? Two-handed weapons provide a +4 bonus. Improved Disarm that monks can get provides a +4 bonus. A two-handed unarmed strike would thus be +8 to disarming before BAB and Strength are added in. It would be fair to say doing this means you don't have a hand free such that you couldn't grab the disarmed weapon, but that +8 is worth it.

yes, but they are sitll light weapons so -4 for that.
