| The Tinkerer06-27-07, 07:38 PM | I was going over my Tome of Battle book while contemplating character ideas for an upcoming game and came across the vital recovery feat which allows you to heal when you recover expended maneuvers. If you also had the adaptive style feat could you use this to heal after a battle by changing out your readied maneuvers every round after the battle to heal back to full since you also recover the maneuvers when you ready them? If so I think I've picked my two first level feats for my swordsage. |
| AAB06-27-07, 10:04 PM | i think you COULD. but then your DM has a legal obligation to smite you upside the head with a book. the other players don't have that obligation, but it is socially acceptable for them to do so. |
| The Tinkerer06-27-07, 10:40 PM | Do you have any particular reasons for suggesting that? I don't think it breaks the rules any and thematically it fits right in. Fantasy writing is full of heroes who make miraculous recoveries through meditation and exercise. I was hoping to get more of a discusion about why it would or wouldn't work rather then insults. |

| The Tinkerer06-27-07, 11:20 PM | No Adaptive Style and Vital Recovery (once per encounter) are only used during the combat rounds. Unfortunately wouldn't that also mean you can't use any skill tricks outside of combat? Since they are also only usuable once per encounter? My main concern is that the next person in line to GM for us is wringing his hands together in anticipation of his next campaign, for melee classes only, in a no magic world. (TOB is specifically allowed) Generally speaking our group is going to be screwed without at least two healers since this GM likes to throw CR's much higher then the party level at us with very little in the way of downtime between encounters. |
| InkBlot06-27-07, 11:36 PM | No, skill tricks specifically state that they can be used once per minute outside of encounters. |

However, unless you go around killing animals(which would constitute an encounter) you can't continually use Vital Recovery. |
