| Mentis_Veio11-20-07, 08:18 PM | My friend and I are trying to come up with a way to create characters that basically fight with the same style to complement one another. Has anyone ever done this? Does anyone know of any feats or anything that will give us bonuses when we fight with each other? |

If you’re in position to make a melee attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend in melee combat, you can attempt to aid your friend as a standard action. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent’s next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack. It can be nice at low levels when the friend gets a free (potentially 4 points of damage) PA bonus or just helps to overcome the enemies AC. You could also use rings of friendship and/or shield other to help each other out as taking 1/2 damage, so that one could tank, and the other could help mitigate damge, but both being in combat could get detrimental against multiples. Really i havent seen anything like this concept except in the feat lines that offer benefits for formations and soldierring. I don't have the books that access those feats, but they are generally pretty marshall and involve shields and stances and such. You need to take a look at those and perhaps form your PCs around that if you are going to both be tanks. |
| CryoSilver11-20-07, 08:57 PM | There's a feat in ToB that gives you an extra +2 to hit when flanking, and another that grants allies within 10 (I think) feet a +2 bonus on saves when you are in an Iron Heart stance. The entire White Raven discipline is about teamwork. Consider playing warblades that focus on White Raven. |
| Sagelyone11-20-07, 09:08 PM | I think there's a feat that gives your allies +attack bonus against an enemy after you hit said enemy. That's the closest I can think of. Other than that you might want to consider the specialty teams in players handbook 2. If you take special feats or ranks in a skill, you can apply those in particularly beneficial ways. |

| Bleyn11-21-07, 11:45 AM | How about the teamwork benefit rules from PHB2 (pg 157-162.) This seems to be the type of thing you're talking about. And the good thing is they don't use up feats or skill points (except maybe as prerequisites.) |
| InkBlot11-21-07, 12:52 PM | I have to second the White Raven discipline from Tome Of Battle. White Raven maneuvers do things like "allies gain +4 bonus to hit the foe you strike," "deal +2d6 damage and adjacent allies move 5 feet," "change your ally's initiative," "every opponent you strike can't make AoOs for 3 rounds," and "allies gain a free attack when you hit a flanked target." All of those were taken from the short descriptions in Tome Of Battle, one from each level of maneuvers up to 5th. 5th level maneuvers are the highest level maneuvers you can learn without taking a level of a martial adept class. Crusaders and Warblades can learn White Raven maneuvers without taking any feats. Some I quoted were strikes (standard or full round action), some were boosts (swift action), but the book also contains counters (immediate action counter attacks) and stances (continuous benefit but only one stance at a time). Other disciplines have a handful of similarly team-oriented maneuvers, but White Raven was built around it. |
