Two Weapon Fighting Shield User [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-21-07, 06:26 AM Hi, my friend is wanting to make fighter who's good with shields, and I was wondering if you can TWF with two shields? If so, what kind of feats should he pick up if he wants this build?
We've got the Complete Warrior, Mage, Sword and Fist 3.0, and the PH2 books avilable to us. Please and thank you

Yes you can. You get the better shields AC bonus and that's it. The two shields do not stack shield bonuses to AC.

We've got the Complete Warrior, Mage, Sword and Fist 3.0, and the PH2 books avilable to us.

Improved shield bash is a must for the ability to keep your shields AC. If he has a high dex then go two-weapon fighting feats route. If his dex is low, then use agile shield fighter to get the base two weapon fighting. Shield Specialization is also a great feat.

If that is so, sweet, get Ring of Force Shield (another +2 AC) and an Animated Shield (another +2 AC). Then get a Bracers of Armour +8 and a Mithril Breastplate (for another +6 or so enhanced)

You can get in the 20+11+3+8+6+1+1 = AC 50 without spells.

Take a level or two of arcane caster with Mage Armour and Sheild as spells and you hit AC 58 at what? 10th level ish?

To be fair, you should point out to your DM that the way he has mis interpreted the rules on gaining both as stacking shield bonuses is unfair to other players who might want to stack Bracers of Armour with mundane Armour and/or Mage Armour spell.

Yes, but the trade-off is that you get to do 2d6/1d8 with TWF.

Nope, since TWD is a shield bonus, and same bonus types don't stack. TWD is an absolutely awful feat anyway.

If he takes Shield Charge, can he use both shields for the charge?

Only if you have pounce.

This is true, but he said earlier that his DM would allow both shields to provide an AC bonus that is stackable. That's why I ask.
