I am playing a thri-keen tomorrow and I plan on dual wielding scythes.....do I need two-weapon fighting or multiweapon fighting, or will eithereven work?

First thing about TKreen is this: Multiweapon fighting feat tree replaces TWF feat tree for creatures with three or more arms.
Two: As the TKreen has four arms, it can wield two two-handed weapons (you already figured this though, but I thought I'd say it anyway ;))
Now, this is where the fun begins. MWF only has a -2 penalty to off-hand if the off-hand is light, which a Scythe evidently isn't. The text on page 14 of ExPH states thet you can use two Gythkas as double weapons at once, but your off-hand weapons are considered one-handed rather than light. It doesn't say anything about using both Gythkas as two-handed weapons.
However, I think it is fair to assume that a TKreen can use Multi-weapon fighting to Dual-wield Scythes as two-handed (primary) and one-handed (off-hand) weapons (ie -4 penalty to attack rolls) because they can wield two Gythkas (double weapons) as if the off-hand weapon is one-handed (and they get three off-hand attacks with the Gythkas too).
To migitate the one-handed off hand penalty you should use the Oversized TWF feat from Complete Adventurer, which makes a one-handed off-hand weapoon count as a light weapon.

To sum it all up, this is what I think:
:w:To dual-wield two Scythes you will need the Multiweapon Fighting feat (monster manual) and the Oversized Two Weapon Fighting feat (Complete Adventurer).
:w:All your attack rolls will take a -2 penalty with this setup.
:w:Your primary hand(s) Scythe will recieve 1½ Strength bonus to damage while your off-hand(s) Scythe will recieve your normal Strength bonus to damage (as if it was a one-handed weapon, off-hand attack normally recieve half strength bonus, but you do wield the off-hand Scythe with two hands.)

If your DM does not allow this, threaten to use two Gythkas instead (butotherwise the same setup) because it will net you two extra attacks with the same damage, but not as impressing criticals. It also has solid support in the ExPH so he cant argue it's against the rules.

Norr is right. It works. And you use MWF.
