Two-wpn fighting with two-handed weapons [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm playing a thri-kreen (for those who don't know, no offence, Thri-Kreens have 4 arms with one being main and the other three off-hands) and, while I know I can use two-wpn fighting with a couple of two handed weapons (e.g. greatswords) I can't figure out if this would stuck with Oversized Two-wpn fighting.

Since OTWF (Oversized Two-wpn fighting) was created with two-arm creatures in mind, it does not state what happens when you use it in conjuction with the Thri-Kreens four arms.

As an example, say we have a 3rd lvl Thri-Kreen ranger with +3 BAB and 16 STR, armed with 2 greatswords.

Normally, with TWF he would get two attacks at +2/+2 (off hand weapon isn't light, so each attack gets a -4 penalty).

But can you use the OTWF with the above example? Is it legal? Does it make any sense at all? (just kidding :P )

AS AN EXTRA question, you gain only 1/2 of your STR bonus on off-hand attacks. But you use 2 arms for the greatsword, so would you gain (1.5*0.5=0.75) times your STR?

Numbers confuse me so much at times....

P.S. 1: I also posted this on the CHAR. OPTIMIZATION board.

P.S. 2: Please excuse my sub-par English.

OTWF says that it reduces the penalties for using a 1H weapon in your off hand. It doesn't say anything about using a 2H weapon, so RAW it doesn't apply.

Therefore you take the "standard" TWF penalty of -4 on all your attacks (assuming you have the TWF feat). I believe that you would get 1-1/2 x Str bonus to damage for your main weapon and 1/2 x Str for your off-hand weapon. The rule for Str bonus to off-hand attacks applies regardless of what type of weapon it is.

It would be a reasonable house rule to let OTWF reduce the penalties to -2.
