About UMD: - when you fail your UMD check on a wand, do you still loose a charge? - The same with scrolls; when you fail, is the scroll used? |
| Nom10-25-07, 08:15 PM | Normally, no. The only time a charge might be used is with 'activate blindly'. The rules don't say, but it seems reasonable to assume a charge could be used. The other gray area is scrolls and "regular" scroll failure. As written, if you fail your UMD check the scroll simply fails. There doesn't seem to be a mechanic that allows UMD to meet the spell list requirement but not the caster level requirement and thus trigger scroll spell failure rules. |
