| spikevampire05-10-07, 05:44 PM | My question deals with Uncanny dodge ability: i think it cannot prevent a sneak attack but only allow to react an attack and use DEX modifier to A.C.. I'm right? "she retain her Dexterity bonus to A.C. even if she is flat flooted or attacked by an invisible enemy". In the improved uncanny dodge ability, the character cannot be flanked, but a rogue 4 level higer can sneak attack him. So he can be even sneak attacked from invisible source, don't he? "he cannot be flanked. This defence denies a rogue the ability to sneak attack the barbarian by flanking him, unless the attacker has at least four more rogue level than target barbarian level." |

No you're not right. Uncanny dodge makes it so you can't lose your dex bonus to AC for being flat footed and hit by invisible attackers. This means you can't be sneak attacked, sudden striked, etc in those circumstances. Uncanny dodge brings the other facet of sneak attack in and crushes it with a mallet. Someone with this ability is exceedingly hard to sneak attack. |

| spikevampire05-11-07, 04:48 PM | Ok last tag... So Uncanny dodge give a PC to use his DEX bonus versus sneak attacker (versus attacker caught him in a denied DEX status, like invisible attacker, feint in combat and other), so hi can't be sneak attacked by anyone (even if epic character), but if he is immobilized. For improved uncanny dodge a PC can't be flanked and so on can't be sneak attacked from anyone, but if an attacker has 4 level more than defender with improved uncanny dogde, he can be. Right? o Jesus... XD I ever played so, why i try to change things... XD Please answer |

Uncanny Dodge only lets you retain your Dex bonus when flatfooted. If Feinting made you flatfooted, then Uncanny Dodge would defend against it. But Feinting doesn't make you flatfooted, it explicitly makes you lose your Dex bonus, and thus Uncanny Dodge doesn't help. Also, any Rogue that's 4 or more levels higher than the total class level that provides Uncanny Dodge can sneak attack you. Thus, if you have 8 Barbarian levels, and 12 Fighter levels, you're a 20th-level character, but only 8 of those levels count for calculating Uncanny Dodge. So, a 12th-level Rogue can still sneak attack you. Uncanny Dodge is powerful, but its power is commensurate with the dedication you have to its classes. A multiclassed Barbarian/Rogue would get full UD defense, because both classes provide the bonus, and they stack together. |
| spikevampire05-11-07, 05:12 PM | I'am wrong with feint, in fact i cancel my previous post. But the level thing i Think is not correctly said by text. In uncanny dodge description i can't see any level and class but only in second (improved uncanny dodge). Is possible that first is always active and second is active only if attacker level is less than 4 more than yours? |
| utilitarian05-11-07, 05:19 PM | It's not that you get your Dex bonus to AC against sneak attacks, it's that because you have your dex bonus to AC in those situations you CANNOT be sneak attacked (unless by a rogue who is suitably higher level than you) If someone has thier dex bonus to AC, you can't sneak attack them (cept by flanking) Then comes Improved Uncanny Dodge. |
| spikevampire05-11-07, 05:26 PM | Yes i got it, but level don't take a part in the uncanny dodge description, . "He retain his dex bonus to AC even if he caught flat footed or struck by an invisible character. However, he still lose his DEX bonus to AC if immobilized." This is description i cannot see any level mentioned ability, is my question clear? Level is important for improved uncanny dodge, but not for normale uncanny dodge, isn't it? |

They only matter fir Improved Uncanny Dodge. |
| spikevampire05-11-07, 05:44 PM | Yeah clear now thanks a lot guys, spider-man 3 best game of the year. bye |
