| barbaravdB03-23-08, 09:32 PM | Are there any feats that increase the size/amount of sneak attack dice for a rogue? If species related, they must be zero level adjustment and available in Eberron. The character will be either straight rogue or rogue/druid. It"s an evil campaign , so nasty is allowable. |

| VulcanStormwrath03-23-08, 10:29 PM | Seconded. Or is it Ninety seconded? And if you're thinking Rogue Druid, look at Daggerspell Shaper. |
| Nathreet03-23-08, 11:40 PM | 1 level dip into assasin. Gives a sneak attack die vs 2 levels to get another rogue SA die. Probably other classes too. |
| Contrast03-24-08, 12:43 PM | If you have Complete Adventurer, you can take one level of Spellthief to gain +1d6 of sneak attack. The Deadly Precision weapon enhancement is also in Complete Adventurer, but it was updated in Magic Item Compendium. Rogue's Vest, a magic item on page 271 of the Dungeon Master's Guide II. Improved Sneak Attack is an epic feat, page 59 of the Epic Level Handbook and it was reprinted on page 210 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Foe Specialist, page 26 of the Miniature's Handbook allows you to deal more sneak attack damage to a certain type of creature. |
| MnemonicSV03-24-08, 02:22 PM | Deadly Precision is also the name of a [general] feat in XPH which allows you to reroll 1s on sneak-attack damage dice. If you're going Rogue/Druid, you may wish to look at the Savage Grapple [wild] feat as well in CAdv. |
| key03-24-08, 03:51 PM | Assassin's Strike from the AEG Feats book. |
| Operation_Shoestring03-24-08, 04:42 PM | If you really want SA that badly.... Rogue1/Wizard5/Unseen Seer10/Divine Oracle4 Take Arcane Thesis: Hunter's Eye, and have Persisted, Empowered Hunter's Eye for +13d6 sneak attack.... on top of the 5d6 sneak attack you already have from levels 18d6 sneak attack = average +63 damage per hit. Combine that with Scorching Ray, and that's and average of 77 damage each to multiple targets... as a standard action. Your straight Rogue is gonna need like 6 feats to match that, with less damage. (Stupid overpowered magic) Plus, you have 11 BAB (interative), Evasion, and Uncanny dodge, along with 9th level spells. Though this is really just kinda silly -you really don't need that much sneak attack. Go with what other people said and take craven. And maybe some martial study feats if you're allowed. |
| StruckingFuggle03-24-08, 05:43 PM | Combine that with Scorching Ray, and that's and average of 77 damage each to multiple targets... as a standard action. Weapon-like spells are a specific exception. Even if you make multiple attack rolls, they only deal precision (sneak attack) damage once. Though this is really just kinda silly -you really don't need that much sneak attack. It's not really that much damage, all things considered, and you still have to flank them or catch them denied their dex bonus. Though now I wonder if the CO Board / TO Board's tried to optimize Sneak Attack damage... |
| Krusk03-24-08, 05:50 PM | There is a stance in TOB that gives 2d6, I forget which one though. Maybe assassins stance? |
| StruckingFuggle03-24-08, 06:00 PM | Assassin's Stance, yeah. 3rd level stance, so you need two Swordsage levels. It's also a Shadow Hand stance, so you could pick up Shadow Blade, too, to add a bit more damage on top. Two levels for 2d6 is pretty darn good, though, plus you get All Sorts If Extra Goodies on top. |
| Operation_Shoestring03-24-08, 06:16 PM | Though now I wonder if the CO Board / TO Board's tried to optimize Sneak Attack damage... We were up to about double your HD in SA dice by level 20, I think. It was at least in the 30's. Could you point me at the rule which says that you can only apply SA to 1 of the rays from scorching ray? Also, what I was saying is that being able to inflict SA regularly is more imporatant that having a lot of SA die. Thus 18d6 SA is silly.. spend your effort on getting more ways to SA and ability to SA more things instead. |
| Dheran03-25-08, 10:05 PM | Could you point me at the rule which says that you can only apply SA to 1 of the rays from scorching ray? It's in Complete Arcane on page 86. The sections are: SPELLS AND INVOCATIONS CHAPTER FOUR WEAPONLIKE SPELLS SNEAK ATTACKS Multiple Hits Scorching Ray is the specific example used for a spell that can't give sneak attack damage more than once. |
| runestar03-26-08, 07:36 AM | Assassin's Stance, yeah. You can also pick it up by spending 2 feats to get martial stance at 12th lv. This also paves the way for shadow blade. Feat intensive, but well worth the investment.:) Imagine a rogue4/swashbuckler with craven, assassin's stance and daring outlaw. At lv20, you get 12d6+20 sneak attack damage on every hit. With shadow blade, you can add both your int and dex mod to damage, and with TWFing, you should get a decent number of attacks each round.:) |
| StruckingFuggle03-26-08, 06:57 PM | You can also pick it up by spending 2 feats to get martial stance at 12th lv. This also paves the way for shadow blade. Feat intensive, but well worth the investment.:) "Worth the investment"? I dunno... I'd be hard-pressed to find a case where "two feats, for martial strike and stance", is a better investment than two levels of Swordsage. o.O |
| runestar03-26-08, 07:48 PM | I dunno... I'd be hard-pressed to find a case where "two feats, for martial strike and stance", is a better investment than two levels of Swordsage. o.O Well, if you are using daring outlaw, 2 swordsage lvs (while incredibly useful for the extra maneuvers known) also means 2 lvs where you are not getting extra sneak attack and dodge, plus you lose a point of bab (though the free weapon focus arguably makes up for this).:) |
| StruckingFuggle03-26-08, 08:07 PM | Well, if you are using daring outlaw, 2 swordsage lvs (while incredibly useful for the extra maneuvers known) also means 2 lvs where you are not getting extra sneak attack and dodge two levels of sneak attack: +1d6. two levels of dodge: okay, point; but there's the question of "how much does it matter"? Assassin's Stance: +1d6 (functionally, four levels of of sneak attack. Extra maneuvers: Not to be discounted! Being one feat down, rather than 3, if you want Shadow Blade? Also useful. plus you lose a point of bab (though the free weapon focus arguably makes up for this).:) Point and point. :) |
| dirkformica03-26-08, 08:21 PM | If you can get Outsider type (through race, a feat like Otherworldly from Player's Guide to Faerun, a class, or through another spell like Fiendform in Spell Compendium) you can take advantage of Polymorph (possibly through a wand if necessary) to take Kelvezu form from Monster Manual 2. That gives you Str 21, Dex 31, Con 16, Poison, and melee sneak attack +8d6, along with 60' Good flight and 15 Natural Armor. |
| MnemonicSV03-27-08, 01:44 AM | If species related, they must be zero level adjustment and available in Eberron. I'm not personally familiar with any races that grant bonus sneak attack damage dice without a level adjustment or racial HD (they could well exist, I just don't know of them). If you can work out a racial class progression, I suggest the Marrulurk (Marruspawn subrace, Sandstorm pg. 170). Death Attack, Poison Use, and +2d6 Sneak Attack (on top of all the other goodies like: bonus feats, darkvision and low-light vision, good ability adjustments, and more!) for a ECL 4 creature ain't bad at all. However, I've never played Eberron, so I cannot speak of whether or not the race is appropriate for the campaign setting. If you're in or near a desert, you're good as gold. |

| MnemonicSV03-27-08, 02:16 AM | Isn't one of the rules of Eberron "if it exists in dnd, it exists in Eberron"? I honestly wouldn't know. But if so... even better! :D |
| Egres03-27-08, 09:56 AM | Foe Specialist, Miniatures Handbook. |
| Baninor03-27-08, 11:20 AM | There's slashing strike from Book of Roguish Luck (Malhavoc Press) Changes your sneak attack dice damage from d6 to d8 with slashing weapons. |
| Dheran03-29-08, 06:13 PM | Isn't one of the rules of Eberron "if it exists in dnd, it exists in Eberron"? Seems unlikely, at least for FR region-specific feats. |
| Brehon03-31-08, 01:42 PM | Assassin's Stance, yeah. You don't actually need to take 2 levels of swordsage to qualify for Assassin's Stance. You just have to be a 5th level initiator when you take you first level of swordsage. And since you can count half of your other class levels as initiator levels, you can go Rogue 8/Swordsage 1 and grab Assassin's Stance right off the bat. |
| TheRealOrion03-31-08, 03:53 PM | There's a spell, "Tactical Precision," that adds a bonus to hit creatures who are flanked, and an extra 1d6 to Sneak Attacks. |
| StruckingFuggle03-31-08, 04:08 PM | You don't actually need to take 2 levels of swordsage to qualify for Assassin's Stance. You just have to be a 5th level initiator when you take you first level of swordsage. And since you can count half of your other class levels as initiator levels, you can go Rogue 8/Swordsage 1 and grab Assassin's Stance right off the bat. See, that would make sense. And is how it should work. And is not an unreasonable houserule. But the way the Swordsage is written, a first level Swordsage, regardless of however many levels that's on top of, can't take a stance that's not 1st level. :( |
| Blue Paladin04-01-08, 01:05 PM | Well technically Brehon's Rogue 8/Swordsage 1 works... You just need to use your level 9 feat to pick up Martial Stance. |
| Druss_of_The_Sword04-01-08, 08:41 PM | A rogue 1/beguiler 1/spell thief 1/SA Fighter 1/Ninja 1/Sword Sage 1(to get Assasin's Stance)/ Assasin 1 7d6 Sneak+1d6 Sudden Effective 8d6 SA at 7th Level. Plus you are now the most versatile character in the world. |
| zeratulcraft04-01-08, 08:48 PM | A rogue 1/beguiler 1/spell thief 1/SA Fighter 1/Ninja 1/Sword Sage 1(to get Assasin's Stance)/ Assasin 1 7d6 Sneak+1d6 Sudden Effective 8d6 SA at 7th Level. Plus you are now the most versatile character in the world. Isn't a batman wizard the most versatile? Anyway, there's a 25HD creature in ELH that gives +13d6 sneak attack, get a 20CL and a bunch of buffs to your CL somehow and shapechange into it. |

I am probaly gonna get screamed at for this but what is Batman? |
| zeratulcraft04-01-08, 10:31 PM | Batman? I am probaly gonna get screamed at for this but what is Batman? Pretty much just a wizard who has lots of utility items and scrolls and stuff, he can get around pretty much anything. |
| dirkformica04-01-08, 11:35 PM | A rogue 1/beguiler 1/spell thief 1/SA Fighter 1/Ninja 1/Sword Sage 1(to get Assasin's Stance)/ Assasin 1 7d6 Sneak+1d6 Sudden Effective 8d6 SA at 7th Level. | Krusk04-02-08, 01:28 AM | Good luck hitting with that +1 BAB at 7th level. not as awful as you think, you can go invisable and flank during combat. out of combat you make quite the 7th level assassin. Not amazing by any means, but not as awful as it looks. |
| StruckingFuggle04-02-08, 01:45 AM | Good luck hitting with that +1 BAB at 7th level. It works better with Fractional BAB. |
| Kalis Atrud04-02-08, 03:39 PM | Assassin's Strike from the AEG Feats book. The number of DM's willing to let you use that feat is probably pretty small, and it is very feat intensive. |
| key04-03-08, 09:58 AM | The number of DM's willing to let you use that feat is probably pretty small, Agreed. Fortunately, mine does. :) and it is very feat intensive. Yes, it has 6 or 7 prerequisite feats, but it's worth it. Plus, after you take it, you can take Precise Strike (Dragon Magazine #310), which lets you trade in all those SA dice for a huge attack bonus. |
| Kalis Atrud04-03-08, 09:34 PM | Path of the Wolf could also be a good feat to take if you can(would almost need to take feats instead of special abilities after level 10 to fit them all in). Only problem with Assassin's Stike(aside from the obvious one) is that most of the prerequisite feats are garbage. It's like the chain is designed to make you suffer until you get the pinnacle ability(ie. Assassin's Strike) and start murdering everybody without heavy-fortification on their armor. |

My DM looked at them and eliminated some of the really awful ones as prereqs thankfully. |
| Crater04-05-08, 04:39 AM | Theres a sneak attack weapon enhancement +1 per +1d6, not sure where though |
| runestar04-05-08, 06:46 AM | Good luck hitting with that +1 BAB at 7th level. Nah, UMD a wand of divine power and you are good to go.:) |
