Using charisma for attacks? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Since there's a way to use wisdom or dexterity instead of strength for attacks, it's likely to presume that there's a feat or class ability that allows one to use charisma as the primary ability for making attacks. This would certainly be useful for bards or paladins since strength and dexterity are not their primary concerns (although wisdom for a paladin might make more sense than dex). So, is there a feat out there that allows one to use charisma for attacks?

Actually, Strength is about as important to a Paladin as it is to a Fighter. However, if for some reason you wish to play a weak paladin, I seem to recall some feat or class ability called Dashing and Daring. I don't remember exactly what it does, or where it's from, but it was something like what you're looking for.

You must've been dropped on your head as a child.

Don't blame him, you're the one who asked about it;)

Playing a sorcerer doesn't bring an answer to the proposed question.

You must have a tumor the size of my fist in your Sense of Humor. He was just being lighthearted. No need for personal attacks.

Did you see the link I provided? It lists NUMEROUS ways to pull off getting Charisma to your attacks. It's actually the easiest stat to double-up on -- several are in addition to strength or dexterity instead of replacing it.

And, since you missed the dry humor earlier, a sorcerer's spellcasting is a type of attack. Charisma won't boost attack rolls for a pure sorcerer (at least not without a few spells), but it will boost the effectiveness of your attack spells. It's the right answer to the literal question -- sadly, the literal one isn't what you asked.

Sense of humor? How is what he said funny? Do tell me because apparently you are the master of all comedy. Bring to the people your politcal rhetoric and your questions of "Who are these people?"
While you do that, I doubt I'll understand it because I have a tumor in my sense of humor. But it does, indeed, take a lot of courage to tell someone to not make a personal attack while they're doing so also.

It was supposed to make you crack a smile.

Of course I am.

I know. I can be such a hypocrite sometimes. :P

EDIT: I didn't expect you to know it, but saying someone has a disease somewhere that he shouldn't be able to is an Icelandic joke. I've told it to people from other places with no ties to Icelandic culture, but they still got it. Maybe it was the lack of a smiley.

there is a feat in frostburn that might do what you are looking for.

I think that feat is in the list that Tempest provided. Very thorough and helpful, but doesn't quite have what I'm looking for though. The Serenity feat in the wisdom section could solve the problem for a paladin if they took Intuitive Strike also. Complete Champion might have it.

(And I got the jokes. They just weren't funny. Feel free to schedule a cat-scan for me so I can see if there truly is a tumor in my sense of humor.)

....I think that was intended to be funny....I think....

I would've sword TOB had a stance that let you add your Cha bonus to attack but I didn't see it on that list, I'll go check, perhaps I'm thinking of some third party material.

You know what, I'll just apologize. Humor is no use if it alienates the person you're trying to make laugh.

I'm sorry, Arturius. I didn't mean to insult you.

It's called Divine might adds your Chr to dmg but you have to be able to turn undead.

Well if your DM isn't a puritist Malhavoc has a feat that does this in The Book of Roguish Luck. Its called Weapon Panache and works exactly the same as Weapon Finesse with the exception of the ability score substituted. Even has similar prereqs. It was authored by Wolfgang Baur.
