Does this mean it can only be used once per combat situation, or can it be used outside battle as well? For example, can I use Sudden Leap, recover it along with all other expended maneuvers as a Full Round Action using Adaptive Style outside of battle and recover the proper HP? I'm guessing I can't, but what about sparring with another party member Judo style using Mighty Throw which deals no damage? What do you think? |
| jokey66504-24-08, 07:27 PM | I rule you can use it again if you've had at least 5 minutes to rest and have sustained at least 1 point of damage since you last used it. Don't know if there is an actual ruling for this or not, though I suspect there isn't. |

If you had to roll initiative for whatever reason or it was necessary to account for everyone's actions per round for whatever reason, Vital Recovery applies. Keep in mind not all encounters are combat. The feat does specify encounter, not combat. |
| curtis_ownby04-24-08, 07:48 PM | Traps are encounters also. If your party does not have someone to deal with traps or they are not very good at it, Vital Recovery used with the three Diamond Mind counters does a good job. The counters stop most if not all damage and Vital Recovery will most likely take care of damage you do take from the traps.:D |

By their very nature, they catch you while you are flat-footed, and while flat-footed you cannot use immediate actions (e.g. counters). Characters with uncanny dodge may keep their Dex while flat-footed, but that does not negate the flat-footed condition itself. Minotaur Warblade/Swordsage? Sure, go nuts. Foresight (somehow)? That works too. Otherwise... |
| runestar04-25-08, 10:54 PM | You could step into a trap knowingly. Say your party does not have a rogue, and you all know that the chest is guarded by a trap (via detect magic, you just don't know what sort of spell). So the warblade uses adaptive style to swap in all 3 diamond mind save boosters, then elects to open the chest, and since he is not flat footed, he would be able to use the appropriate maneuver to boost his saves accordingly.:) |
