| Arkeas09-14-07, 05:51 PM | Hi. I am making a Monk 2 that is planning on becoming a sorcerer 3 enlightened fist 10, somthing or other. I am here to ask if anyone thinks vow of poverty would be a good choice. I do not want this to be a debate thread, so here are my rules. I will read the first six responses from different people. After that, I will never visit this thread again. Further, please state your vote (for or against VoP), your reasons behind it, and leave it at that. If you are simply going to reply, "Yeah, he had a point", and leave it at that, congratulations, you have just wasted a post. Sorry, but I just REALLY don't want this to descend into another long debate thread that needlessly sits at the top of the forum for the next week. |
| Easalyamusedoldman09-14-07, 06:55 PM | Nope. If your going to do a caster, you'll want to use stuff like scrolls and the such and there magical. If you where a pure monk, i say it would be fine, but not like this. |
| EjoThims09-14-07, 09:57 PM | Unless you have some trick or combo with the exalted feats in mind, don't bother. The bonuses end up being less than the total bonuses available by wealth at like 12th level, the restrictions are a pain, and without some exalted feat synergy, and it takes up two feats. |
| Jaxgaret09-14-07, 10:30 PM | Vow of Poverty's greatest asset is the fact that you don't have as much bookkeeping to do for your character, or worrying about treasure and what items to purchase. If that's your main goal, I say go for it. Otherwise, it's a meh feat power-wise but it can still introduce some problems from other players if they start wrongly complaining that it's too powerful. It's also better in a low wealth campaign, obviously. And really bad in a high wealth campaign. One more completely irrelevant thing: VoP is a Druid's best friend :) |

These boards exist for discussion, not voting. |
| Arkeas09-15-07, 02:36 PM | I apologize, it wasn't meant to be a poll. It was meant for several people to efficiently state their logic for or against the feats, rather than a debate where people post simply to condem others for their opposed views on the subject. |

The problem comes when the natural armor and deflection and stat bonuses aren't as good as money can get you. Try to find a way to get a higher resistance bonus to saves, deflection bonus, and natural armor to AC. All this by using spells preferably, and possibly the spells of someone else. |
| goawayugh09-17-07, 10:22 AM | If you're going with Sorcerer, I'd say no. As a Sorc your spells known is limited. You will get great use out of wands and scrolls because you can use them even if you don't know the spell. If you wanted to go just Monk, it would be good. Although if you want it for the RP possibilities, then take it. It presents some really fun challenges. |
