| Scion of Coldshard03-17-08, 02:03 PM | Pretty poorly thought out isnt it? ;) However, if you treat the feats like bonus feats then you can simply ignore the prereqs. That seems like the easiest solution. |
| StevenO03-17-08, 03:05 PM | Bonus feat like that ignore normal Prereqs. You could have DEX 8 and use Greater Two-Weapon Fighting (prereq DEX 19) provided you selected it as part of a Ranger 11's fighting style. |

You could have DEX 8 and use Greater Two-Weapon Fighting (prereq DEX 19) provided you selected it as part of a Ranger 11's fighting style. The Ranger's Combat Style specifically says you get it even if you don't meet the Pre-requisites. Any feat that you get as a bonus feat, unless it explicitly states that you don't need the pre-reqs, you can't use until you get the pre-reqs. This means for instance, that if a Fighter has his strength dropped to below 13, he loses the use of his Power Attack feat that he picked up as a Fighter Bonus Feat until his Strength goes back to 13 or over. As the War Domain doesn't state that you ignore pre-reqs, you technically don't gain any use of it until your get +1 BAB - but it's a common houserule to ignore that in the Cleric's case. |
| StevenO03-18-08, 01:20 AM | That is when you "select" the Bonus Feat. The Weapon Focus from the War Domain is more like a class feature that doesn't care about the prereqs. Besides the Ranger you can also look at the Monk's fighting styles which don't require the normal prereqs either. |

Actually, this is because the fighter class also explicitly states that you must meet all the requirements for any bonus feat you take. So I guess it can be interpreted that unless stated otherwise, you generally do not need to meet the requirements of any bonus feats you acquire.:) |
| strenoth03-18-08, 02:18 AM | as near as I can tell, bonus feats should be read this way: Being able to select your feat from a list defaults to needing to qualify for the feat. Not being able to select your bonus feat skips prerequisites. in a few cases, you have a very small selection (monk) or a path (ranger), these tend to allow you to ignore prerequisties. |
