| MindWorX09-29-07, 03:03 PM | Hey, I'm playing a warlock currently, and I still have a "redo" period going, where I can make some tweaks in case I change my mind on some parts. I currently have the following skills: Diplomacy 4 + 3 (Cha Mod) Knowledge(Arcana) 4 + 1 (Int Mod) Sense Motive 4 + 1 (Wis Mod) Use Magic Device 4 + 3 (Cha Mod) //This is for crafting later on. Bonus Languages 4 + 2 (Start Languages) Except for the UMD skill, the rest is "tool" skills I decided was useful, but I recently found out, that to get a feat I'd like to get, "Ranged Recall" from Complete Mage, I need 4 ranks in Spellcraft, so I was thinking of moving some of my skills around to get it, but I don't know how useful Spellcraft is going to be for a Warlock? - MindWorX |

But I would say that warlocks can benifit from it, as can any class really (besides frenzied berserker). I just don't know why you put ranks into speak language (it's not a class skill for warlocks, is it?), and not bluff. |

Whether you ever take them or not, it is better to be prepared. So taking a few ranks in it is never really wasted. |
| MindWorX09-29-07, 03:54 PM | Thanks for the input. After looking some more in the Complete Mage book, i saw the "Eldritch Theurge" PrC, and decided i wanted that later on too, so the skill is placed as follows now: Knowledge(Planes) 4 + 1 (Int Mod) //This is for the Eldritch Theurge PrC. Knowledge(Arcana) 4 + 1 (Int Mod) //This is for the Eldritch Theurge PrC. Spellcraft 4 + 1 (Int Mod) //For Ranged Recall, Spell Identifying and possible later feats. Use Magic Device 4 + 3 (Cha Mod) //This is for crafting later on. Bluff 4 + 3 (Cha Mod) //This is for getting people to do what i want. Btw, the Speak Language (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/speakLanguage.htm) is a class skill for everyone, atleast that's how i understand it. But I'm trading it in for bluff ranks, and then I'll take Comprehend Languages (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/comprehendLanguages.htm) and Tongues (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/tongues.htm) as part of my Arcane spells I'll get from my Sorcerer levels later on. I think that's going to work fine. |

| dman1123509-29-07, 05:36 PM | That's why it costs two skill points for each language, and for a class skill it only costs one. |
| MindWorX09-30-07, 04:39 AM | Ahh, okay, i just never noticed any of the classes having it... Guess you learn something new every day :) Thanks for the help both of you A quick question, now that i have 4+1 ranks of Knowledge(Arcana), do i get the +2 synergy bonus to Spellcraft, or do i have to have 5 in my actual rank before getting that? |
| Killydd09-30-07, 05:01 AM | A quick question, now that i have 4+1 ranks of Knowledge(Arcana), do i get the +2 synergy bonus to Spellcraft, or do i have to have 5 in my actual rank before getting that? Prerequisites and synergies always refer to the actual ranks in a skill, not the total normal check that you make. As such, you can never get synergies with a first level character(like you seem to be making). |
| MindWorX09-30-07, 06:38 AM | Okay :) Thanks alot. |
