08-31-07, 10:46 PM Im looking for a little clarification. The PHB 2 warlock variant section has some starting packages, one called The blaster has Point Blank Shot as the staring feat. I have also heard that for a warlock's EB he needs to have the Precise Shot feat to avoid the -4 for fireing into melee. If these are all feats i can take as a warlock than why do i not qualify for Rapid shot or Shot on the Run? All 4 feats apply to your ranged weapon?

08-31-07, 11:09 PM Warlock doesn't qualify for rapid shot or shot on the run because EB isn't an attack like a bow. It's a standard action spell-like ability. You can take the feats: but since EB isn't an attack action, you can't use them. (Rapid shot gives you another attack as part of a full attack. You can't full attack with a standard action SLA.) (Shot on the Run says as part of an attack action, which a standard action SLA is not.)

EDIT: I suppose I wasn't very clear. I meant he qualifies, but can't use with EB.

08-31-07, 11:32 PM The Warlock DOES qualify for rapid shot and shot on the run feats provided they meet the other prereqs. As you say those two feats and PB and Precise Shot all apply to your ranged weapon. Note that Eldritch Blast is NOT a weapon but a spell-like ability that requires a standard action to use. Because EB is not an attack, it just uses an attack roll, you can't use RS or SotR with it.

You may want to take a look at pg 303 in the 3.5 MM however. Flyby attack allows a flying creatures (you did take Eldritch Flight didn't you?) to take a standard action at any point during their move. As an added benefit it is MUCH easier to take than Shot on the Run which could just be a different use of Spring Attack as far a I'm concerned.

09-01-07, 08:35 PM That's great, except Warlocks don't qualify for Supernatural Transformation, as it is a class ability and not an innate ability. And I know I am being the air head here, but I am pretty sure I never saw any feats like Quicken Supernatural Ability and Maximaze Supernatural Ability. And in the event that your DM houserules that you CAN use Supernatural transformation, now no metamagic feats or meta-spells like ability feats will apply because they don't apply to supernatural abilities

Also, supernatural abilities do not work in dead magic areas or antimagic fields (re-read the first paragraph of the Antimagic Field spell - PHB, page 200).

09-01-07, 10:49 PM I know that Empower, Widen, and, I believe, Enlarge Supernatural Ability available in Tome of Magic, though I don't believe Quicken or Maximize are available there (and the ones that are there are 1/day)

That comment was actually directed at akinckillerchris - and I think he either made up or was confused about the Quicken, Empower, and Maximaze SUPERNATURAL ABILITY thing.
