Hey guys,
just wondering, can I empower my Eldritch blast? I only ask because when consulting the Empower Spell-Like Abillity chart, and reading the explination on "spell level" of EB I don't think I am able, or will ever be able to Empower EB, or any other offensive Invocation. In addition, I don't think I'll ever be able to "Quicken" EB, or any other Invocation. Can someone please explain how Empower, and Quicken are supposed to work w/Warlocks, I don't think they'd put the feats in the Warlock description if you couldn't use them.

Thanks!

well if you read the errata on the class (a good thing to do before checking out the forums), you'll realize it'll work just fine, as an unmodified eldritch blast is a 1st level spell like ability

empower, maximize both work fine

Awesome, but what does a modifies count as? Thise whole Least, and Lesser rating system of spells has me scratching my head. In addition, where can I find the errata?

Thanks.... I guess?

The errata documents are found on the main D&D website. They're free .pdf documents so you'll need Acrobat Reader to be able to view them.

I'm not sure what you are asking about in the second part, so I'll just cover the basics. Eldritch Blast is the equivalent of a 1st level spell.
All other invocations include in their descriptions a spell-level equivalent.
Some of these invocations are designed to change the effect of Eldritch Blast. These are called Eldritch Essence invocations. Whenever you cast an EB you may apply up to one Eldrtich Essence invocation that you know to the EB.
Some are designed to change what the EB affects. These are called Blast Shape invocations. Whenever you cast an EB you may apply up to one Blast Shape invocation that you know to the EB.
These two choices are independent.
The final spell level equivalent of the EB is the highest of the invocations used that round. For example, if you fire an EB with Vitriolic Blast and Eldritch Spear, that EB is the equivalent of a spell that is the highest of the three spell level equivalents, in this case a 6th level spell. If you want to empower that combination you have to be 16th level. You work this out by doubling the spell level it's acting at and adding 4.

The classification of invocations into grades is to govern what invocations you can learn at what level.

A warlock of 5th level or lower can only learn Least invocations
A warlock of 6th to 10th level can learn either Least or Lesser invocations.
A warlock of 11th to 15th level can learn Least, Lesser and Greater invocations.
A warlock of 16th level or higher can learn any invocation published to date.
