| Edymnion02-29-08, 01:37 PM | is there a feat that i could get that would let me cast identify a couple times per day? -chrisIf he's in Eberron, the Least Mark of Finding can do it. |
| Malchius02-29-08, 01:38 PM | Their sister class, The Dragonfire Adept gets this as one of their least invocations, maybe you could get it houseruled in, even know I think it's what really makes the Dragonfire Adept useful so may tip the balance even more for the Warlock(talking about Dragonfire Adept/Warlock balance btw). |
| Urithair02-29-08, 01:41 PM | Isn't there a skill trick that lets you do it? |
| chris8102-29-08, 02:29 PM | i'm already a 5th level/just turning to 6th level established character and we're not in eberron |
| luedre02-29-08, 03:37 PM | Actually, there's a trick in complete scoundrel if I recall that you can learn. There is also the identification rules that are found in the MiC that can also identify various magic items by knowledge/spellcraft/detect magic and sometimes even a search check. |
| rjsilverthorn02-29-08, 03:43 PM | There is a skill trick for it in Complete Scoundrel, Magical Appraisal, but one of the prereqs is 12 ranks in Spellcraft. Complete Adventurer does have a feat for it, Appraise Magic Value, which requires 5 ranks in Appraise, Knowledge Arcana and Spellcraft. |
| StruckingFuggle02-29-08, 03:44 PM | i'm already a 5th level/just turning to 6th level established character and we're not in eberron Well, you could ask the DM if you could import it from Eberron. It's not like the game will implode if you use something from Eberron or FR outside of Eberron or FR... :p |
| Pangeon02-29-08, 03:45 PM | Artificer's Monocle is a 1.5k item in the MIC, gives you the benefits of the Identify spell when casting detect magic, which you have at will. S'not a feat, but it's cheap, and you can probably get the whole party to chip in. |

It's not like the game will implode if you use something from Eberron or FR outside of Eberron or FR... :p Dont listen to him! We tried it....most the few remaining survivors are still in horrible shock, most will never walk again....... (obviously, i kid. Importing from Eberron or FR are fine :P) Aren't the skill tricks only useable so many times per day? The monocle only works 3/day i believe, but it's still quite nice. |
| blade26503-01-08, 04:28 AM | What's wrong with scrolls or wands??? |
| Koenig03-01-08, 08:37 AM | is there a feat that i could get that would let me cast identify a couple times per day? You could take Infernal Adept (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/frcc/20070613) to learn Magic Insight. |
| Shadowhowler03-01-08, 11:20 AM | I could have sworn I saw a feat somewere... I think it was called 'Arcane Arpaisal' or something... required ranks in apprairse and spellcraft... it let you identify items will skillchecks somehow. Can't recal where I saw it. |

I believe you are thinking of Magical Appraisal, a skill trick (rather than a feat) from Complete Scoundrel (page 87). |
| Shadowhowler03-02-08, 02:30 AM | I believe you are thinking of Magical Appraisal, a skill trick (rather than a feat) from Complete Scoundrel (page 87). Nope, I found it. It's a feat from Complete Adventurer called 'Appraise Magical Value'. I can't go into specifics on it (due to the CoC) but basicly it does what I thought it does... allows you to basicly 'Identifiy' without the spell. I KNEW I saw it somewhere... :) |

| Solaria03-03-08, 03:17 AM | Take a few wizard levels and then switch to Eldritch Theurge. |

I KNEW I saw it somewhere... :) Both the feat, Appraise Magical Value, and the skill trick, Magical Appraisal, have advantages and disadvantages relative to one another. Both require 5 ranks in a skill that is cross-class for a Warlock. Magical Appraisal requires several more ranks in one of the prerequisite skills than Appraise Magical Value and can only be used a very limited number of times per day, but it is free and can get the information in a relatively small amount of time. Appraise Magical Value has an overall lower cost in skill points, but costs a certain amount of gold in special materials for each use and takes a considerable amount of time to get the information. |

I was NOT saying the feat is better then the skill trick... (which I have not looked at at all) I was only saying that I had seen a feat somewhere that would allow the OP to do what the title of the thread says he wants to do. You responded by saying that you thought I was thinking of the Skill-trick 'Magical Appraisal', not a feat. I *KNEW* I had seen the feat, so I went looking for it, found it, and posted it, to show that I was, in fact, thinking of the feat, and not the skill trick, as you mentioned. That is all. So now, the OP has even more options to think about and chose from. |

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were. I was just comparing and contrasting the two - when it comes right down to it, they are pretty similar. |
| ciaran03-04-08, 06:25 PM | Take a few wizard levels and then switch to Eldritch Theurge. Take one level of Sorcerer. |
