| Shigure06-18-07, 03:04 AM | Alright, this has been giving me a headache for some time now and I have no one to answer the question for me. The question mainly stems from some confusing and seemingly contradictory uses of the Empower Spell-like Ability and Maximize Spell-like Ability feats, found in the Monster Manual and Complete Arcane respectively, in relation to the Warlock's Eldritch Blast ability. In the text for Maximize Spell-like Ability on page 81 it gives an example of a 10th lvl Warlock's eldritch blast being maximized to 36 dmg. First of all a 10th lvl warlock would not be rolling 6d6 for his blast and second of all it states that only abilities with lvls equal to half caster lvl -2 can be maximized in such a way and Warlock EBs are half caster lvl...period. The same applies for the Empower Feat from the Monster Manual. So can someone tell me if these can acutally be used for Warlock EB's or is it a major mistake? |

In the Errata for Warlocks, their Eldrich Blast Ability has been changed to be counted as a 1st level spell like ability. So yes, you can use maximize and empower spell like ability on it now with little diffculty. |

Also, the example of a 10th level Warlock's Eldritch Blast being maximized to 36 points of damage is some kind of typo or editing error - since a 10th level Warlock's Eldritch Blast does 5d6 damage. |

The warlock in question probably has a chasubel of fell power. What self-respecting warlock wouldn't? Maybe they assumed that people would get it. |
