weak turning cleric [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-30-07, 08:06 AM i'm going to play a clerich whose prestige classe doesn't improve the turning undead ability. since i'd like to take the air domain, i'm looking for a feat the give me extra cleric level for what concern turning undead, like what practiced spellcaster(complete divine) does for the caster level.

does anyone know such a feat??????

09-30-07, 08:48 AM You've looked at Improved Turning in the Player's Handbook, right?

Very few prestige classes add to your ability to turn undead, which is mainly a function of your Cleric level. Most turning feats, like Empower Turning (Complete Divine and other books), let you turn more undead than usual or destroy them instead of turning, but don't affect the HD of the most powerful undead you can turn. The only other feat I know of that will increase that number is Heighten Turning (Defenders of the Faith and other books), which will let you trade higher HD of undead you turn for reduced damage.

09-30-07, 12:42 PM It's not really worth it though, as undead hit dice scale faster than CR, and the ones that don't have turn resistance. I'd suggest using those feats for divine feats instead. The number of turn attempts per day are not dependant on class level.

i agree with you, but i'd like to take the air domain, and it's power would be useless at high levels with only 10 cleric levels, since there are no feats more powerful than ph improved turning.

09-30-07, 04:17 PM There is one I think that increases by three (Improved Turning?) (it made a straight cleric viable at level 9....yeah). If you plan on using air elemental summoning, try elemental healing (CDivine). I think there may be a couple more from CDiv that use elemental turning instead of undead, so you can check those out too. There's also a couple of items that do it, a legacy weapon, and a true holy symbol (I think, true holy symbol may only work for undead) (Planar Handbook).
