I have a question concerning the Benefit section of the Weapon and Torch feat from Dungeonscape (p. 47). It seems that if one uses a full-round action and hits that the subsequent fire damage and dazzling are automatic. There’s no penalty for two-weapon fighting and there are no additional rolls required and no saves allowed. Am I reading this correctly and is this how others would interpret the feat?

Thanks

I read the following:

1. You are NOT doing a full round attack. You do NOT get iterative attacks and there is no way to do more than a single attack +1d6 (torch) and 1d4 dazzling.

2. Instead you are doing a "special full round action".

3. There is no penalty to hit, no additional rolls, and no saves.

4. You do not get any strength or other bonuses to the torch damage.

Net Net: From levels 1-5 this is a great feat. It lets you do an extra 1d6 damage and dazzle someone.

But from levels 6+ it begins to not be great. You are losing out on your iterative attacks, neither the 1d6 nor the dazzle can crit, and in general it is a bad deal.

Me personally, I would call this overpowered at levels 1-5. acceptable at 6-10, but honestly weak at 11+

I would balance it by putting in a BAB 6+ requirement, then offering a 2nd feat to let you get your regular iterative attacks, with a BAB pre-req of 11+
