I was recently looking around for something interesting for my gish character and I found this. Weapon Familiar. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Weapon_Familiar_%28DnD_Feat%29

Was this something made for the web or was it in a supplement? If so what one ?

It was originally in Unearthed Arcana but was later included in the SRD (along with the rest of that book).

I see in the SRD that " A weapon familiar has no attacks-it is one. However, when its master is using the familiar it is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for purposes of feats, magic bonuses and the like."

Does this mean a hexblade with a long sword weapon familiar could take improved natural weapon and have it do 1d10 ?

Also can a weapon familiar be made from a masterwork or magic weapon?

I do not see this in either of the SRD's I have checked. Also can a weapon familiar be made from a masterwork or magic weapon? It must be a permanent magical item - and by extension, of masterwork quality. It can be a weapon, though it need not be.

Having just taken a look at Unearthed Arcana's item Familiar section It's not really to my liking. I was wondering if that concept has receaved any other treatments other then the link I posted?

How nice of a DM do you have?

You could always animate object an item of your choosing. Then you could ask your DM (very, very nicely  ) if you can make it your familiar.

The Arms & Equipment Guide even talked about having animated furniture as pets, and even guard animals. It said animated objects, if left animated for a long time, start to pick up their own quirks and personalities after a while. Sort of like the Doctor from Voyager I guess.

Just imagine having a little footstool following you around barking, just like in that Disney movie. :D
