| RyanEck05-20-07, 05:12 PM | I've read of a few various weapon finesse-esque feats that build upon the original feat such as "Improved Weapon Finesse" that allows you to add your dexterity modifier to damage, etc. I was wondering if there exists a feat that changes your finesse weapon(s) from using "Dex OR Str" (whichever is better) for the attack roll to using "Dex AND Str". If one doesn't exist, how would you go about making it? (That is, would it, so far as feat prerequisites go, only require that you have weapon finesse, or would it also require the aforementioned 'Improved Weapon Finesse' or something similar?) Is it unbalanced to allow a feat like the above (strength and dexterity modifiers to attack rolls) with just weapon finesse as a prerequisite (and, say, 15+ dexterity or 17+ dexterity or whatever)? Are there any other interesting 'weapon finesse' feats? |

Its in tome of battle, but its prereq is that you have a shadow hand stance (i believe) As far as adding your dex and strength to hit... nothing that i know of does that. If you were to make a feat that did it i would say the prereq's would be something like DEX 15+, STR 15+, and weapon finesse, maybe even a minimum level of 6th or something like that. |
| RyanEck05-20-07, 05:35 PM | So perhaps: ---------------- Improved Weapon Finesse [general, fighter] Prereq: Str. 15+, Dex. 15+, Weapon Finesse, BAB +4 You now add both your strength and dexterity modifiers to attack rolls when using a finesse weapon ---------------- ? |

Well, my first instinct is to say it is too powerful, but melee might need the extra help at higher levels. I would say at least a BAB +6 req. though. |
| Jaxgaret05-20-07, 07:51 PM | It seems a bit overpowered as an "add +Dex and +Str to hit" feat, with such low requirements. I might change the feat chain thusly: Weapon Finesse (+1 BAB) - Add Dex mod instead of Str mod on melee attacks. Improved Weapon Finesse (+6 BAB, Weapon Finesse) - Add Dex mod and 1/2 Str mod on melee attacks. Superior Weapon Finesse (+9 BAB, Weapon Finesse, Improved Weapon Finesse) - Add Dex mod and Str mod on melee attacks. |

| StruckingFuggle05-20-07, 08:21 PM | And both the Shadow Blade and the CoCL class ability have only a small number of weapons you can use in conjunction with them. |

Finesse weapon fighters and by extension rogues etc need something so they don't have to multi class all over the place just to do damage. I wish Insightful strike from the Swashbuckler was also a feat you could take |

Think the 3rd lvl swashbuckler has something like that while giving u full bab |
| Jaxgaret05-20-07, 10:53 PM | There is a prestige class that allows you to add both but you have to be afollower of Corellion Lorithian That adds Dex mod to damage, not attack bonus. Attack bonuses are worth approximately twice as much as damage bonuses (i.e. Weapon Focus' +1 vs. Weapon Specialization's +2). |
| Magrus05-20-07, 11:04 PM | Might be a decent idea. Personally, I house ruled my games to allow a character to be focused towards Finesse or standard attack route for free. It would stick for the characters future, so if they picked the Finesse route, they used Dex for attacks period for the game. Spending a feat to do that seemed too much for me, as it inherently favors those Str based builds. Balancing isn't my big thing though, so that might be overpowered? I dunno. |

I wouldn't say it's overpowered. It just gives Rogues and other classes for whom Weapon Finesse is a no-brainer choice an extra feat, due to the fact that they didn't have to take WF. So it's a small boost, but nothing outlandish. Casters still own them, so houserule away! :) |
| Kamin_Majere05-21-07, 08:11 AM | Think the 3rd lvl swashbuckler has something like that while giving u full bab Thats the Insightful Strike class ability i was talking about. But all it does is allows you to add your INT modifier to damage. |
