| Real_iceman03-04-07, 07:12 AM | in unearthed arcana, there is the house rules feats. weapon group feats. i was just wondering how many feats the duskblade would start with ? |
| paladin201903-04-07, 10:58 AM | Is it an "arcane variant of the paladin" like the hexblade? Probably 3, unless the class is extremely focused. |
| Real_iceman03-04-07, 02:08 PM | No ir is a variant rule that replaces simple and martial weapon proficiency. each character class begins with a difrent number of weapon groupfeats like. a rogue starts with basic weapons and two other. |
| paladin201903-04-07, 02:56 PM | Right. If the duskblade is like the hexblade, an arcane variant on the paladin, I would recommend a number of wepon groups like the paladin; basic pluys three of choice. If the duskblade is more focused than the paladin or hexblade, I would recommend fewer. The rule of thumb is Good BAB = basic plus 3 Average BAB = basic plus 2 Poor BAB = basic plus 1 As I said, a guideline. There are exceptions, like monks and druids and wizards. But if you want a starting point for all the new base classes, this is it. |

| paladin201903-04-07, 04:52 PM | what is the advantage of using weapon group feat? A change of flavor. Mechanically, the system is a general nerfing. |
| ragoftag03-04-07, 10:10 PM | Agreed, Nerfs a lot! That said, it works quite well to 'flavor' a game. I lumped basic into each Class' core weapons and trimmed the number of groups. Allowed me to create tighter selections for Races and Classes. An Elf Rogue would gain both the Elf and Rogue groups as his first 2 choices, of 3, I think. House Rule: you gain a new group whenever you gain a new attack per round due to your BAB. |
| Chrono Nexus03-04-07, 10:21 PM | Fun fact: Martial weapon proficiency, as per the feat, doesn't grant proficiency with all martial weapons, it actually only grants you proficiency with a "kind" of weapon. However, if you gain MWP as a class feature, it does grant full proficiency. |
