| Gavinfoxx07-30-07, 10:11 PM | Hi there, I was wondering what knowledge Skills there are that aren't in the PHB. I'm thinking of stuff in any 3.0 or 3.5 D&D stuff, including the settings of Eberron, Living Greyhawk, Faerun, Ghostwalk, Dragonlance, and Oriental Adventures. I'm thinking there's Knowledge: Psionics, but I'm sure there is something more written somewhere! Is Martial Lore a knowledge skill? Are there any other knowledge skills in any of those books or settings or anything? Thanks! |

Are there any other knowledge skills in any of those books or settings or anything? Thanks! Aside from Knowledge (Psionics), every new system has been good about rolling their relevant checks into existing categories. (I tend to shuffle a few around -- I'm considering merging *and* splitting Arcana, Religion, and Psionics into two supercategories: Knowlege (Magic) and Knowlege (Mystery / Occult / some other name).) For instance, incarnum is handled under Knowledge (The Planes), pact magic under Knowledge (Religion or History), and martial adepts under Knowledge (Local or History). And no, Martial Lore is not a knowledge skill (it's closest to spellcraft). |
| Kouk07-30-07, 11:23 PM | Yeah, usually they try not to invent new ones. In the Forgotten Realms, there is a rule whereby you split up Knowledge(Local) into individual regions, so that there are really several different Knowledge(Local) skills and not just one, to represent that the FR is frickin' huge. Personally I don't think that rule adds anything though. Otherwise the only one I can think of is Knowledge(Psionics) in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. |
| Arturius107-30-07, 11:29 PM | Book of the Nine Swords has a skill called Martial Lore. Expanded Psionics Handbook also has Autohypnosis and Psicraft. |

| Jaxgaret07-31-07, 01:21 AM | My campaign has introduced Knowledge (What Happened Last Time We Gamed). Turns out it's pretty darn useful :) |
| JLaurHughes07-31-07, 01:34 AM | Unpublished(As far as I know): Knowledge(Metalurgy) Covers all metals including where and how each metal originated. 5 ranks gives a +2 synergy bonus to Appraise checks related to metalworked items as well as Craft(Armorsmithing) and Craft(Weaponsmithing) related to working with metal. This is actually one that I've added to a homebrew CS. It's one of a few that aren't covered under the Knowledge skill as listed. |
| Pandapeep07-31-07, 01:56 AM | Knowledge(Forbidden Lore) from Unearthed Arcana. |
| Gavinfoxx08-02-07, 01:41 PM | *reads the unearthed arcana stuff on knowledge (forbidden lore)* ...Ew. I dont want any of that. And I dont think we are using sanity rules. And besides, I cant get that at character creation anyway, heh... |
| NobodyRemembersThis08-02-07, 04:26 PM | I give Knowledge [Warfare and Tactics] as a class skill to my fighters. It covers siege engines, mass a battle, and military history. It grants a +2 synergy bonus to Sense Motive when used in combat. Note I don't use Tome of Battle, so no comparisons to Martial Lore. ;) |

It lets you ID maneuvers and other miscellanous things like that. I use KNowledge: History for what you list for Warfare and Tactics (and give it as a class skill for Fighters). |
| ArochanoX08-03-07, 03:34 AM | In our campaing setting, we have "ancient knowledge" skill that give bonuses about things that happened before the demon war that eradicated about all written and otherwise conserved history. Check the link for the skill's uses! http://e.bo.cx/index.php/Ancient_Knowledge And no, I don't think there's any more knowledge skills besides knowledge: psionics that isn't in the PHB. |

I use KNowledge: History for what you list for Warfare and Tactics (and give it as a class skill for Fighters).I also use it as a requirement for 2 of my fighter special abilities - Tactician (+2 to initiative, +2 dodge to AC, +5 move for x rounds 1/encounter; full round action) and Cooperation (+2 to +10 to one of [climb, hide, listen, search, spot, use rope; full round action, 1 minute duration), to successfully fire a siege weapon, and to "control" mass combat. Siege Weapons: Attack = Skill Check; -2 for each missing crew if you have less than 5 people operating weapon; -5 to "rush" (fire as in 5 rounds instead of 1 minute). Mass Combat: Opposed Warfare and Tactics rolls for each major offensive. Whoever has the higher roll has the winning side. Roll succeeded by 10 or more results in +25% greater losses for the loser. |
