Like that one from Sandstorm that gives you the "ability" to kick sand into someones face. So I was wondering what feat you think should also be skill tricks. Thinks |

| Dheran03-13-07, 01:56 PM | Well, track and urban tracking for starters. Those are pretty good suggestions; they work with the skill trick limitation of once/encounter or once/minute. Flick of the Wrist (from Complete Warrior) is already written up as the Hidden Blade skill trick, so that one's covered. There are a bunch of other feats that could make for decent Sleight of Hand skill tricks, but the once/encounter limitation would make them wimpier than the feats. Deflect Arrows, Quick Draw, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, and Manyshot might work. There's no feat for this, but if you've got Quick Draw I could see a skill trick to Quick Sheathe (as a swift, not free, action). Improved Counterspell and Combat Casting would be good Spellcraft skill tricks. Ride-By Attack would be a good Ride skill trick. This isn't a feat, but there are never enough skill points to cover what a character needs to learn. How about just turning Open Lock into a skill trick based on Disable Device? |

Well wimpier is probably better as skill tricks are somewhat cheaper than feats for most. Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think all skill tricks have a per encounter limitation. It's been a bit since I looked through the complete scoundrel. I have mixed feelings about skill tricks really. ... This isn't a feat, but there are never enough skill points to cover what a character needs to learn. How about just turning Open Lock into a skill trick based on Disable Device? I just fold it into dd with no skill trick, but I think that could work too. EDIT: I'm thinking about trapfinding (the rogue special) as a skill trick. I like skill tricks for additional/augmented skill uses rather than as virtual feats. Honestly, I wouldn't mind converting most of the bards specials into skill tricks and turning the bard into a prestige class. I always felt the bard was a little too specialized to be a core class. |
| Jackmojo03-14-07, 05:18 PM | Some of the individual tactical feat options would probably work as well. Individual feats: Run, with what skill prereqs I don't know though. Quick Reconnoiter, spot and listen Able Learner, 5 ranks in any 5 skills I'm sure there are a few others. Jack |
