Telling Blow
[General] (PH2 p83)
Skirmish or Sneak Attack
class ability
When you confirm a Critical Hit with either a melee or ranged weapon, add your Skirmish or Sneak Attack
dice to the damage after the multiplier has been applied.

i simply don't understand what makes this feat worth while, i mean don't you do add the skirmish after, not b4, the multipler is added to the damage?

:confused:

The feat is nice in that it allows you to add your extra damage even without meeting the other requirements to trigger the sneak attack or skirmish, there's no need to flank, or move, in order to get the extra damage. You just have to crit.

and coup de grace is always effective (rogue with a light pick and telling blow = dead)

How so? You get to deal sneak attack damage in a CDG anyways. Bear in mind that telling blow merely adds an extra condition when sneak attack would apply - you do not deal twice the sneak attack damage if you crit a flanked opponent.:P

oops, didn't realize that. :(
well, it would help for any rogue who wanted to go solo, at least....

uhm... we want lots of SA dice and lots of attacks with big threat intervals, right? I reckon you could do better than... blackguard/2h.

a simple one; twf (kukri?) http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#fighter - maybe add power critical too. but really, I bet you could dig up more crit-happy builds.

Swashbuckler/rogues with daring outlaw and two kukri can do a pretty decent job at it, imo. Any full-BAB PrC with a good SA progression (for the 4th main-hand attack) can work well. Blackguard could work, but a 2-handed weapon will not be so good.

Here's a Spiderkreen (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=824479) thread that uses a Thri-kreen (4 arms), with Kukri, the 3.0 Fang of Lolth PrC (eventually 4 more arms), and Telling Blow.

One of the levels of Warblade lets you add your Int modifier to confirm criticals, which stacks with Power Critical, if you can fit that in...

Telling Blow can be pretty situational... it's not a fabulous feat, but if you build around crits, it can be decent.
