| Thurbane09-05-07, 08:33 AM | Hi all, I have a couple of questions about the Wild Cohort feat: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a 1. Can an animal chosen as a Wild Cohort also serve as a familiar? 2. What would be the effects of using an Awaken spell on a Wild Cohort? Could it still serve as a cohort? 3. What would be the appropriate level for a mule to serve as a wild cohort, as I don't think they are specifically mentioned? Cheers - T |

That said, I would give the player a one time attempt, with a bonus because of them having the Wild Cohort before it being awakened, to inspire them to follow them under the rules described in the Leadership feat. 3) I would treat a mule similar to a small horse or pony and allow them at first level. |

Although the two abilities are similar, they follow different sets of rules and must be tracked separately. THat this would be specifically mentioned while attempting to do both for one animal is neglected strongly implies it's the only option. If both stack on the same animal, however, you'd take the level hit from both progressions with any more powerful animals. |
