| D4rkchylde07-05-07, 06:03 PM | I have a few questions for you as I am not clear on the whole Wild Shape thing. I am building a Druid, and I noticed something as I went through the different Wild Shape feats for Druids. You expend one daily use of your Wild shape ability to gain the benefit of the feat for one hour. Fine. The problem I have is this; are the feats really worth it? Why would I take Cheetah's Speed or Eagle's wings to gain it's benefit for a mere hour when I can wild shape into a cheetah or bird and it lasts for 1 hour/level? Do you think these feats are worth the slots they take up? I can't see how but then I've never played a Druid before so I don't know if it will work out in my favor. Another thing I am not entirely clear on are the benefits I gain when I wild shape into a particular animal; as I searched the forum for answers before writing this post, I noticed a thread were I learned that I don't gain any supernatural abilities from Wild Shaping. But I thought you could only Wild Shape into an animal, and they don't have Supernatural abilities as far as I remember. I searched for a feat that would allow me to Wild Shape into something bad ass but there is only the one in the Draconomicon. And don't say "if you can turn into a dragon, why would want to be able to turn into anything else"... actually that’s a good question but still tell me if you know of any others :P I would really appreciate it if an experience Druid (lol) advised me on the matter. I haven’t played a table top game in years and my old Dm is back for a couple months so everything has to be done right, I can’t afford to play with a broken character. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to your response. |

This allows you to wildshape into tons of different forms without having to take many feats, plus you gain 1 extra use of wildshape per level, and, because of the errata, the prestige class stacks with your druid level for total possible HD. I don't think the feats are worth it, but that's just me :) |

| DropsonExistance07-09-07, 02:29 AM | Druid here, in all senses of the word :D I took one glance at those feats and totally disregarded them, personally. In fact, I too turned around and looked at MoMF. One thing that attracted me to the class was being able to wildshape a dragon at tenth level, within your wildshape size restrictions (aka up to gargantuan) instead of just small or medium like the feat. Druids generally don't get many feats compared to other classes, so they have to pick them wisely. Those aspect feats are most definitely NOT on the must-have list. Oh, and a note: by "broken character," I hope you don't include ridiculously naturally powerful, because as a class that can cast spells and then turn into a grizzly and beat the stuffing out of enemies, straight druid is pretty high on the power list without even trying. This thread is a comprehensive guide to druids http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=465005 and this one is perhaps one of my favourite threads ever, the MoMF Bible, which is handy for all wildshapers as it contains, first post, the fully updated rules for wildshape. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=639448 It's a lot of reading, but if you've got a few spare hours it's all pretty handy. |
| D4rkchylde07-09-07, 09:15 PM | This is great, really thanks a million. By broken; I mean too powerful or too weak. I mean its broken, not fit for a game, the kind of character that makes you want scream because its of no good use. I'll totally check out tha thread and see whats up. |

Neither is as powerful as MoMF lets you become, but since they are feats, you get a taste of the exotic shapes without losing spellcasting progression. |
