So I'm going into a new game shortly and the character I want to build is a Swashbuckler/Dread Pirate. The problem is that DP requires 8 ranks in Appraise, a skill that the Swashbuckler does not have.
What I'm wondering is is there some sort of feat that would allow me add Appraise to my skill list without cross-classing it, as ccing it would mean I have to wait until level 13 to become a DP. I'm also hoping that I don't have to dip into another class to do this.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Talk to your DM about substituting something else. Suggest Skill Focus: Appraise and a few cross-class ranks.
Or suggest dropping a Swashbuckler skill to pick up Appraise, so you can qualify.

Otherwise, play a human, dip Rogue and take the Able Learner feat.

Rogues and bards are most suited as dread pirates, when it comes to prerequisites. If you're playing as a human, then Able Learner feat (Races of Destiny) solves your problem.

P.S. There's another pirate prestige class called Scarlet Corsair (Stormwrack) that is definitely worth looking for and much more suitable for swashbucklers.

As far as I know, you have to wait until 13 or dip.
Able Learner makes the costs lower, but it doesnt change max ranks.

There is a feat from the Players Guide to Savage Tides.

You have to be from a part of the city, but it allows you to pick I think 3 skills that are either Int based or Chr based and they become Class skills.

You could ask your DM if he could allow something like this in his game. Really I see burning a feat to pick a few skills as class skills as underpowered. Unless you are a fighter with feats to burn.
