| FrostHammer12-29-07, 08:13 PM | Comments are welcome. Swift Dancer You have applied the hit-while-running tactics learned from scouting to your dancing abilities. Prerequesite: Skirmish 2d6/+2 AC Benefit: Your Scout and Dervish levels stack for the purpose of determining the extra damage and AC bonus to Armor Class granted when skirmishing. For example, a 8th level Scout/1st level Dervish would deal an extra 3d6 points of damage and gain a +2 competence bonus to AC (as well as an additional +1 bonus to damage and to-hit if she were wielding a scimitar) as if she were a 9th level Scout. Your Fast Movement speed bonuses from your Scout and Dervish levels also stack with each other. In addition, You may make trip attempts with any light slashing melee weapon. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the weapon to avoid being tripped. Special: A Scout can select Swift Dancer as one of her scout bonus feats. |

| FrostHammer12-30-07, 02:44 AM | Well here's the thing. Someone in my group is wishing to go into Dervish (a cool, but rather unimpressive class when compared to the rest of the party I feel)...while the rest of the group is a Druid, Iot7Cheese, Pounce Barbarian with Shock Trooper. I've got an idea for a great recurring villain to harass the party. She would be a Dervish, but I had felt the Dervish just lacked in the oomph department. Was just gonna go with another more powerful class combintion and keep the fluff, but I thought perhaps this custom feat might be just the thing. |
| Kouk12-30-07, 03:08 AM | I'm not 100%, but I don't think any of those "synergizing" class feats do anything with Prestige Classes, only Base Classes. Also, that Trip ability seems to come out of nowhere. Scouts seem to get along pretty well with Dervish already don't they? |
| FrostHammer12-30-07, 03:52 AM | The existing feats only synergize base classes. That's why I had to custom-brew this. As for the trip ability, I was thinking about synergizing with Elusive Target (Cause Overreach), since Combat Expertise is a requirement for Dervish anyways, so some Dervishes may wish to go for Improved Trip. You provoke from yuor enemy as you dance around him, and since you've got AC bonuses from skirmish and the Mobility feat, hopefully you'll be getting plenty of trip attempts in with your Scimitar |
| DarkRhystar12-30-07, 01:39 PM | Problems with the feat: 1) Low prerequisite to power ratio. Very little prerequisites for a significantly powerful feat. 2) Missing prerequisite for Dervish. Synergy-style feats usually require prerequisites from each class as-in you need to be a member of both classes before you can take the feat. 3) The effect of the first two abilities is beyond the power that a normal feat gives and with practically no important prerequisites it lacks the entry bar of a tactical feat. 4) The final tripping ability does not fit the feat at all. It literally comes out of nowhere. Bad form. This feat is poorly designed. |
| FrostHammer12-30-07, 03:52 PM | In order to benefit from this feat, a character must be a Dervish anyways, so in other words, Dodge, Mobility, Weapon Focus, and Combat Expertise are required anyways. |
| mplindustries12-30-07, 04:25 PM | I think any combining class feats are just fine as long as you stack only a single class feature from each class or a single class feature plus a minor benefit. In other words, drop the tripping part, which makes no sense anyway in the context of the classes. Additionally, if you do not add the requirement of being an actual Dervish, a scout could take this feat after level 7 and gain Dervish fast movement without ever having the class. |
| DarkRhystar12-30-07, 04:27 PM | In order to benefit from this feat, a character must be a Dervish anyways, so in other words, Dodge, Mobility, Weapon Focus, and Combat Expertise are required anyways. The difference it makes is whether you can take the feat before or after gaining entry into the second class. You should have levels in the relevant classes before taking the feat. So... did you actually want criticism or just people validate you're decision to use it? |
| FrostHammer12-30-07, 05:30 PM | All comments are welcome. I can see getting rid of the trip ability. However, I feel some have misunderstood the fast movement stacking. If you have no levels in Derviosh, you don't have any Dervish fast movement to stack with your Scout fast movement. So perhaps adding a requirement like needing Dervish Dance before you can take the feat? |
| TifRhal12-30-07, 07:49 PM | as for stacking the movments this might be an interesting feat for a barbarian with the whirlwind veriant. |
