Does the Zen Archery Feat that says you can use your Wisdom modifier instead of your Dexterity Modifier for ranged attack rolls. Does this also apply to ranged touch attacks?

By the way the feat is worded, I would think it most certanly does.

I would also say yes, and that is a yummy thought brewing in that head of yours I bet...

My sorcerer is venerable aged so this is very helpful in hitting things with spells.

The descriptive text specifically says ranged weapon:

Your intuition guides your hand when you use a ranged weapon

As such, I would allow with a Net but not with a spell.

This should really only affect clerics and Druids, who are not generally considered weak.

Wizards and Sorcerors should already have a Dex higher than their Wisdom, because you need Initiative and Reflex saves more than they need a boost for their Will save.

He's venerable aged thats a -6 to all of my physical stats. So that coupled with a +3 to all of my mental stats that makes it a much better feat than not. Plus I have insightful reflexes feat. Also the Benefit part of the feat specifically says; you can use your Wisdom modifier instead of your Dexterity modifier when making a ranged attack roll. The fluff material/ flavor material is said to be misleading sometimes so I was confused on that part.

There is no rule stating that it is OK to ignore Fluff text.

If there is confusion/disagreement, then I would of course accept the 'crunchy' text over the fluff text.

But this is not a disagreement, this is a clarification of something not specified in the crunchy text.

I personally would accept the Fluff text in that case. It says ranged weapon, it meant ranged weapon.

--------

That said, as a DM I would also allow a caster to take a home brew feat called:

Zen Mind.

Which would let you use Wisdom instead of Dex for any ranged touch attack.

I would prefer to force the player to take a different feat, not simply add on powers to an existing one.

That sounds reasonable i guess. I wonder if there is such a feat already, one that gives the ability for ranged touch attacks but not ranged weapon attacks. I'll look into that.

I'd say yes. Look at the entry for Rays in the Magic Overview:

Some effects are rays. You aim a ray as if using a ranged weapon.

There's also nothing contradictory with the flavor of allowing it to work with Rays and other Ranged Touch Attacks (provided you have no problems with Zen Archery in the first place).

Zen Archery applies to ranged touch attacks.

As a matter of fact there is. In the Player's Handbook, on page 110, it tells players to change the flavor text to match their character concepts.

Empiro hit the nail on the head.

Any spell that requires an attack roll counts as a weapon "This is why casters with a touch spell charged are considered armed."

Any spells required a ranged attack roll count as range weapons and get the benefit of the Zen Archery feat.

That was just fluff though.
