Orcy The Green Wonder 12-21-06, 04:49 PM	The flesh rippers caves are a large complex beneath a large area of jutting rocks. The entrance is surrounded by a makeshift camp of wood and stone buildings. Both types extremely crudely made. The Goblins and Hobgoblins of this cave all serve under one leader called Ganuknuk the Dragon Lord. It is said that he is descended from the great blue dragons of the desert and that lightning runs in his blood. The leader lives deep within the caves for the most part, coming out only rarely. When he does show himself however, chances are it will be followed by bad times. The hobs and gobs of this area are quite fierce and make constant attacks on the building of the Great Bridge. They know that it would be bad if the guilds could form a force large enough to attack them, which the Great Bridge would be essential in doing. The Great Bridge: A large stone structure slowly making it's way across the river. It was destroyed in the war and is being rebuilt steadily. To either side of it rest two flimsy wooden bridges that are used at this time for travel. It is a lifeline to the rest of the Sajenda region, letting larger caravans cross over and, when finished, will have towers for the defense of travelers as well. But at the moment it is just large piles of stone. (This will be filled out more as things unfold and more of the region is developed. Because of the proximity to the fleshripper caves and the fact that the gobs and hobs from said caves come to it often, actions taken on or near the bridge will take place here.)
Orcy The Green Wonder 12-21-06, 04:52 PM	All around the bridge stone blocks are being moved into positions and wooden barricades are being errected. Word has come of an impending goblin raid on the bridge builders here. They however do not intend to go down without a fight, so they are gathering and preparing to defend themselves. A ways in the distance nearly a mile or so away the dust and figures of the Goblin raiding party are coming into view. Hobgoblins run at the front of the pack with goblins coming along behind them. A few mounted hobs charge forward from the pack and head for the bridgebuilders defences.
Skull_of_Shadow 12-21-06, 05:00 PM	Swooping down from above the dragon rider gets low to allow the woman to drop from the dragon's back. He then rises again to gain altitude, turning his mount toward the charging hob riders. Lifting his lance into the air he shouts out a challenge in the language of the Mygrod Barbarians. "Kana Dalag Zagran! Barog Kan!" Lowering his lance he charges toward the enemy.
Ashariana 12-21-06, 05:02 PM	Using the partially built wall to descend quickly the woman's smile is wide after her short flight on dragon back. Landing she quickly moves to stand with the bridgebuilders. She cracks her knuckles and takes on a fighting stance, bouncing from foot to foot and eager for this fight.
Orcy The Green Wonder 12-21-06, 05:04 PM	The hobgoblins charge on, a few of them slowing to draw their bows for use against the airborne opponent. The others head right for the barricades and the defenders beyond. (Orcy must appoligize because its time he goes to eat then off to work. He'll continue when he gets back... which will likely be much later.)

Norax ran past the strange man, Drawing his shortbow and knocking an arrow. He took aim at the nearest goblin, getting ready to fire when the chance presented itself.

He levels his huge lance toward one of the hobgoblin riders and stabs at one of those who stopped to fire at him with a bow. Driving the lance hard at the hob's armored chest. Attack Roll=32 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=792921) Damage Roll=50 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=792924) After his lance digs deep into the hob's chest he turns his momentum upward and flys toward the sky, climbing upward again to come around for another strike.
Ashariana 12-22-06, 01:37 AM	The woman, Amara, stares at the dragon rider's powerful strike and the gaping wound that it opens in the hobgoblin. She turns toward the charging goblins and crouches, waiting for them to get closer so that she can pounce upon them. (delaying)
Orcy The Green Wonder 12-22-06, 03:27 AM	The hobgoblin outriders continue their charge, heading straight for the gaps in the makeshift wall on the backs of their powerful horses. No doubt these horses were bought from the nomadic people of the Mygrod plains judging from the markings on their bodies. The Hobs charge on, one of each rider group getting through the walls and attacking the nearest bridge builder. One hob strikes a builder with both his bastard sword and the light mace he wields in his other hand. The other, a lance weilder, misses his target and succedes in only putting a hole in the wooden wall nearby. Meanwhile, the Hobs who stopped their charge send a volley of arrows at the dragonrider up above them. Too many of the arrows find their mark in the man on the dragon's back. Grazing him for the most part but some sinking deep. The gobs and hobs on foot head steadily along, the hobgoblins breaking away from the goblins and spreading out as they get closer to the action. Ashariana 12-22-06, 03:35 AM	Seeing an opportunity to strike as the hobgoblin rides into range Amara leaps up, kicking out at the hobgoblin twice before she lands again. She bounces back gracefully and stands ready to strike again should the hobgoblin persue her. She brushes some hair away from her face and smiles at the goblin. "Aww, I'm sorry, did that hurt?" Skull_of_Shadow 12-22-06, 03:50 AM	Swooping down again Dalag stabs out at the same hob he struck before. Aiming for a killing blow on the already injured creature. His lance however, is miraculously deflected by the hobgoblin's chain armor. Cursing, Dalag brings the dragon upward and flys at great speeds back toward the defences set up by the bridge builders. Staying high above the ground he contemplates his next strike. He was wondering most of all how well the large piles of logs nearby would burn and how much goblins liked fire. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-22-06, 03:52 PM	The hobs and gobs continue their march forward, some of the hobs breaking off and charging forward. They make their way to the walls and appear prepared to begin a climb over the logs and other wood piled up to form the barrier. The Hob outriders continue their attacks against the bridgebuilders, killing one of them and wounding another one. The hob outriders with their bows exchange weapons as they move forward to join the melee now that the dragon rider has retreated. The bridgebuilders strike back however, swinging the heavy maces that they are all carrying at the outriders. More than one blow lands and hobgoblins grunt in pain and howl in anger. Holding up her fist she smirks, a green gas fading quickly from around her fist. Shouting commands over the roar of battle and the wind the dragon below him grins as well. Lifting his lance above his head he shouts and points it down. The great dragon stopping for a moment, seemingly suspended in air as wind is sucked into it's lungs, and expelled as searing hot flames, spreading outward and down in a circle below itself. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-23-06, 02:19 AM	Battle rages on, a hob falling to Amara's strikes and many being burned by the attack of the red flying above the battlefield. Hobs and builders fight it out and another builder falls. The goblins finally reach the walls as the others crowd around it. They chant and soon an electical field forms around those hobs nearest the goblins, striking out at those who contact them with weapons. Norax and Patyr arrive on the battlefield to find archers firing upon the dragon rider and flames racing across wooden barriers and bodies alike. The goblins are forcing their way through the gaps in the walls, but the builders are holding for the moment. (Orcy had a nice long post all ready and then closed the window and lost it all... he appoligizes for being an idiot. Ashariana 12-23-06, 02:29 AM	Amara brings herself forward and launches another set of rapid blows. This time she strikes using her feet, attempting to kill the goblin rider swiftly. Her foot again is covered by a strange green gas before it strikes the hobgoblin. All of her attacks fly wide however, this goblin was faster than the last perhaps. She steps back and watches it's movements carefully for any chance to break through it's defences. (All misses, sucks... it would have hit too... but that builder had to die on me.)

Raising his lance he turns and swoops down from the sky toward the goblin that crackles with energy. He screams loudly as wounds open across his body and his blood flows out and surrounds his lance. Bringing the lance back he drives it toward the goblin's heart. His lance pierces the small creature's chest and impales him neatly on the tip. Flying upward toward the sky again Dalag laughs and tips his lance downward, letting the goblin corpse fall to the earth below. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-23-06, 04:28 PM	Flames race across the walls and cause one hobgoblin to fall from them, face first into the ground on the builder's side. Another pair of builders drop as the hobs press forward. More manage to break through the barriers as others crowd the walls. Another hob rider dies at the hands of the still-fighting builders, his horse turning and moving away from the swinging maces and nearly trampling a barbarian behind it. An archer gives chase and attempts to shoot down the rider again, peircing his armor yet again. The battle rages on as yet more guildsmen arrive to assist the slowly fewer builders. The electrical aura however vanishes from the hobs as the goblin is impaled by Dalag's lance. The goblin recently struck by Norax roars angrily and swings his greatclub, smashing the elf in the side with the big weapon. Norax: 11 damage (Thasis, Zombo, and Sssargoth + Cohort arrive on the scene. Ashariana 12-23-06, 04:42 PM	Amara turns toward the newest threat of the barbarian and lets loose a round of kicks and punches. Striking out at the hob angrily. Her fist glows with the green gas once again as she strikes the goblin in the chest. The area where she hits begins to fizzle with the acid from her blow. "Hey, we're getting a little swarmed over here! Give us some help would you?" Norax said, balling his left hand into a fist and bringing it to a stop just infront of the hobgoblin. He has a semi-smile, semi-snarl on his face. Swirling around him is arcane flames of pure red. Skull_of_Shadow 12-24-06, 03:39 AM	Dalag quickly dismounts, falling to the ground like a feather he directs the dragon to go after a fleeing hobgoblin. He himself drops his lance and charges the nearest hob, pulling the glaive from his back and slashing at the creature. Dalag's glaive tears into the hob's flesh, biting deeply into his body. The dragon meanwhile flys across the sky and lands infront of the fleeing hob. It lunges forward and bites out at the hobgoblin with it's powerful jaws. Tearing fles with it's sharp teeth, but not killing the creature. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-24-06, 03:41 AM	The gobs and hobs advance on the battlefield, though their numbers are begining to dwindle because of the spells and efforts of the guildsmen. A few more builders fall and quite a few are injured when a blast of lightning is issued from each of the small goblin's mouths. Norax finds himself on the recieving end of one of these lightning blasts. Goblins push past the barriers but are struck down by the builders and their allies. On the far side with Amara, the builders are all defeated and the goblins are begining to surround her. One of the remaining hob outriders who has lost his horse grabs the reigns and quickly mounts his fallen ally's horse as the other hob dies. He turns it around and rides off quickly back the way the group came from. Dalag's dragon however cuts off his retreat with it's body. Norax: 10 damage, Reflex save DC 17 (24 damage on fail, 12 damage on save) Amara: 33 damage
Ashariana 12-24-06, 01:02 PM	Amara looks around and curses. She invokes the power of the dragons and her foot is covered with a green gas once again. She kicks at the nearest hobgoblin and immediately spins and rolls away from the group. She retreats behind the stacks of blocks nearby to lick her wounds. Growling at the number of hobs and gobs that have managed to break through the barriers on her side. As she reaches her location she notices that her efforts have been successful. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-24-06, 04:59 PM	One of your attacks hits the barbarian you are fighting turalisj (the 19). Also, Orcy would appreciate it if you folks would tell him WHERE you are sending these fireballs and whatnot. If you check the map and it doesn't appear to have been update, hit refresh, that should fix it. This time Orcy just assumed you meant the largest concentration of the enemy. But he needs to know for sure next time because perhaps you were actively trying to hit some builders in the process or whatnot.

Zombomaniac 12-26-06, 01:55 PM	Osru casts Wither on the Shaman at m12. 8d6 dessication damage and is dehydrated. Fort save DC 19 for half damage and no dehyration. Damage: 31 dessication damage (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=798267) Dessication- Sandstorm introduces dessication damage, a new category of damage that spells, and in some cases, the attacks of creatures, can deal. Dessication is not an energy type, but certian spells and effects can provide enhanced protection against dessication damage. Plants and elemental creatures of the water subtype are especially vulnerable to desication damage, and they often take extra damage from such effects. Some times, but not always, spells that deal dessication damage can render a victim dehydrated. Others spells and special abilities can render a creature dehyrated without dealing magical dessication damage. Essentially, dealing dessication damage does not automatically make a creater dehydrated, and becoming dehydrated does not mean a creature automatically takes dessication damage.
Skull_of_Shadow 12-26-06, 03:36 PM	Dalag continues the attack on his foe, slashing at the mounted hob with his glaive. Both slashes however fail to hit their target, leaving the hob unharmed. Dalag raises an eyebrow and shrugs. "So, nice weather we're having. How about you pay me and I kill these guildies that are interfering huh? You win, I get to kill something more difficult than you guys. It'll be great fun! I'll even give you a share of what we get from these guys, and you'll be able to tell your boss that you did it all yourselves." Meanwhile, the dragon roars and continues it's attack against the mounted hob that was attempting to retreat. It's mighty jaws, claws, wings, and tail lash out at the hob. It's teeth, claws, and wings rip into the hobgoblin viciously. "See? That little dragon over there is why you should listen to me! If you don't he'll eat all of you, and that wouldn't be pretty. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-26-06, 05:44 PM	The last of the goblins die, one shrivels from the spell hurled by Osru and the other is struck down by the mace of a builder. A number of Hobgoblins die in the retaliation of the builders. Builders are wounded by the hobgoblins and yet another dies. The hob fighting Norax is slain by one of the builder's maces but is quickly replaced by his fellows. The hobs and gobs are quickly losing the battle, but many of the builders have died as well and there are still more enemies attacking. Almost all of the hobs have breached the walls now and are closing on the remaining builders. At the moment, this battle can swing either way... Instead, she nearly falls over herself, landing hard on her other leg. Wincing, she quickly stumbles back into her stance. "Would you dirty beasts just die already!"

Skull_of_Shadow 12-29-06, 02:12 AM	Dalag brings his glaive around, slashing at the mounted hobgoblin. As his blade bites into the hob and sends his corpse to the ground Dalag leaps forward. He grabs the reigns of the horse and attempts to fling himself into it's saddle. As he mounts he takes hold of his lance, dropping his glaive instead. He grins and turns toward the nearest hob with a triumphant look on his face. Meanwhile, Dalag's dragon roars and makes it's way to another hobgoblin. Smelling the blood of one of the two standing by the entrances to the fortifications the dragons heads toward that one. Biting at the hob with it's powerful jaws. The hob however, manages to avoid the creature's teeth and it bites only the air around it. "This is your last chance goblins! Give me some cash and I'll do a little fighting for you eh? Orcy The Green Wonder 12-29-06, 08:57 PM	The hobs take the attack back to the others after one of their number is crushed beneath a builder's mace. Their wild attacks manage to harm one builder and take another to an early grave. Their attacks do not manage to break through Norax's defences however. The hob surrounded by builders stomps on the ground a few times and roars angrily, his eyes taking on a reddish hue and his muscles bulging. Amara is struck by the light mace carried by one of the hob riders that weilds two weapons. The rest of his attacks failing to strike her quick-moving body. The hobs back the builders up against the nearby walls, lining up for the attack. With others leaving the battle before it's end, it is begining to seem as though the battle may be lost. The builders bleed far worse than the hobs and they number greater as well. The nearest hob turns his attention toward Dalag and growls, then speaks in crude and broken common. "You kill, we give share of spoils. Dead not need. Call dragon off, have kill enemies! We give what want and be victory!" Dench Bloodfang appears on the scene. He does that sometimes... likes to watch lotsa living things burn. Whoops, there he goes!" The dragon flaps it's wings and takes to the air, rising quickly above the ground. He looks down after flying out a bit over the battlefield and lelts loose a huge cone of flame straight down. The fire races over one group of builders and a number of hobgoblins as well. Norax finds himself in the radius of the firey breath this time. Dalag laughs and grins wickedly, watching the flames do their work. Burning many of the builders and hobs, killing a few of the targets they wash over. Dalag rides around the barricades and enters through the burnt walls. Taking up a position opposite his dragon. Orcy The Green Wonder 12-30-06, 09:56 PM	The hobs and builders assault one another, the increasingly few number of builders are still managing to inflict damage on the hobs. The last attack by the dragon killed three of the remaining six, leaving only three builders left alive. It also killed another hobgoblin and set a few on fire, reducing their numbers to six. The raging barbarian swings his greatclub about, attempting to crush Norax. His club meets Norax's body and leaves a painful bruise. Meanwhile across the field Amara's foe lands a horribly painful wound on her side, digging in deep. The builders however manage to survive the attacks of the remaining hobs. The flames of the dragon have killed a large number of builders, but they have also inflicted a great deal of chaos on the hobgoblins. They more than any know well the uncontrolable nature of dragons and argue over wether or not the attack was a purposeful attempt to destroy their numbers. One near Norax hisses at his words. "Never! With a wince of pain she takes in a breath through her teeth. She rolls away from the hobgoblin and runs across the part of the bridge that has begun to be built. Standing near Osru she pants and rubs her wounds. "How about... someone kills the armored hobgoblin with the big sword and the mace? Fighting him with my fists alone is getting painful..." So each round the vortex is surrounding the Hob he takes 2d8.
turalisj 12-31-06, 12:19 AM	Norax moved with the flames, his training taking over and his body becoming one with the fire. When the flames began to die down, he stood there, unharmed. Fool! I am one with the fire. I am an inititiate of the Desert Wind and the Diamond Mind. Give me the fires of hell, and I will send them back along with the light of heaven! As he spoke, his blade found a weakness within the hobgoblins armor. His blade pierced through, blood spurting out. I will not back down from this bridge and this battle as long as I breath. I don't care if I have to take down your whole damned race myself. ooc: I used Insightfull Strike, and hit with an attack of 21, and made a concentration check of 32, dealing an equal amount of damage. I made my reflex roll of 25, and used Flames Blessing just before he hit with the fire breath attack, thus voiding out any fire damage below 11. This character was made specifically for fighting in *cough* heated enviroments. At level 16 and above, I can become immune to fire damage.

Despite the firey death suffered by the builders earlier, the dragon and his rider appear to have switched sides yet again. One side of the field has been cleared and only three hobs survive at this moment. All three of them appear to be horribly injured. The hob that Kero and Neri as well as the builders have been fighting is eaten by the red dragon. The one that had been battling Amara and now the Desert Mage's spell falls to the mace of a builder and many more are wounded in the combat. Dalag takes a heavy set of blows from his target as well as another as apparent payback for his actions. Ashariana 12-31-06, 03:54 AM	Amara rushes across the field and rolls past the enemie's weapons. Bringing herself around in a crouch she tries to uppercut the ugly hobgoblin that dalag speared. She lands a solid blow on the creature's jaw, shattering the jaw and melting part of the poor goblin's face. She kicks dirt from the ground onto it's body once it falls over. The dragon makes it's way over to him and he quickly changes mounts, panting and letting out a victorious shout. He turns the dragon around facing the others on the battlefield. The dragon and it's rider both growl, taking battle stances in case any decide to 'avenge' the builders the dragon's flame killed. Dalag ducks low onto the dragon's back to cover himself with it's wings and head. "Thats done... a couple minor setbacks but it looks like some of these builders are still living. They begin checking them over and stabilizing those who are wounded but not yet dead. They manage to save another three, but those who may have made it elsewhere were finished by the dragon's fire. The ones who are concious send angry glares Dalag's way but don't appear to be interested in getting too close to the man and his dragon. Most having never seen a dragon before. (Orcy will post up items and experience when he gets a chance to calculate everything out.)

These remaining builders place the bodies and items in their barracks and set out to rest, the most healthy staying to watch for mor hobs and take a count on how much they lost, particularly in wood after the dragon's breath tore up their makeshift barriers. (4000xp for Amara and Dalag) (3,857xp for Norax, Osru, and Kero) (2,000xp for Dench, Lucien and Patyr) Orcy will be posting up some new adventure stuff later today when he gets it written up. He'll be making a board that has information on it for adventurers. There will be others around town as well that can be found by players if they look.
