The horechound jungle, once a lush and rich land filled with exotic creatures and plantlife. Now, the jungle belongs to the rampaging undead, sealed beneath perpetual darkness by the deposed Lord of the Damned, Sargatanas. It's once exotic beauty has since been reduced to a dying and rotting place, filled with the stench of death and rot. The walking hordes of undead that call this place home wander through it's dark borders, growing more violent as of recent events. The trees sag and even the tallest of them cannot reach up above the darkness. The bones that lie in various locations mark the once homes of the nomadic undead, no doubt the spoils of some raid into human lands, and no doubt future recruits for the damned.

On the borders of the jungle there are small settlements, each bearing a small detachment from Tyrannor propper for use in watching and keeping track of the undead. Recently many of these have come under attack, but none have fallen so swiftly as that which was rumored to have some devlish device brought against them. The undead run rampant, the settlements are in a constant state of alert. It is now, only a matter of time before the undead break their bonds and are loosed across the known world, unless they are stopped.

((We'll be using group colors here, Include a 'LOCATION:' tag in each of your posts if you would since we're likely to have two groups running here at once (at the very least). For example, if you are aboard a ship just off the shore 'LOCATION: At Sea' if your group's color is red. The first poster from said group will choose the color to be used by them, this should help everyone determine what they see and know and all that.))

The greatship captained by Sargatanas sails forward slowly now, the Horechound jungle clearly in vew on the shore. His crew march toward the side of the ship, their eyes and empty sockets scanning across the shore. Giving the wheel over to another of his crew he makes his way down to the deck and looks at the jungle, his eyes glowing slightly brighter than usual.
"Ah... home... it has been far too long. Soon, we'll be on MY soil, and ready to take back MY lands."

It occurs to me that you mentioned a need of a mask when you brought it up at the GoUE. Do you still have any?
(Actually remembered from before the merchant's guild, just didn't want to bring it up)
Sargatanas

08-29-07, 03:38 AM
Sargatanas tosses Davar a mask, watching as they pass much of the Jungle's shore. The ship moves along at a steady pace, the forest drifting by while Sargatanas eagerly looks on his lands. He cackles often, looking down to see undead fish feasting on the flesh of living sea creatures. He seems overjoyed at the spread of the undeath he started. After another while of travel the ship finally moves toward shore, lowering it's anchor just off of a steep cliff face thats almost level with the ship. A few skeletons stretch out a long plank that runs from ship to shore and Sargatans moves madly across it with a wicked grin on his face. He spins around under the dying trees, shrouded in the darkness of the fell magics of this jungle.
"Ah... home.."

Various undead, skeletons and zombies for the most part wander about by the shore. They largely ignore Sargatanas, noticing him more as one of their own than some intruder. Over the course of the journey, monstrous undead fish and sea creatures of the sort have approached the ship, examining it's contents but doing nothing else. It would seem for now that the mad necromancer's plan was working, the undead took little interest in a ship full of the dead. When he steps to the shore a few turn to look in his direction but look away just as quickly. To Davar's nose the stench here is almost unbearable even through the mask. The stench of rot is heavy in the air, clinging to everything and covering all.

William and Nhyris make their way to the shore to stand beside Sargatanas. Turning back toward the ship he waves a skeleton over and after a short conversation the skeleton returns to the ship. He disappears downstairs only to re-emerge carrying one of Sargatanas' large leather chairs. Brining it over to the shore the skeleton sets it down and Sargatanas takes a seat, leaning back and watching the forest.

"Kick back, wait around for a little bit, gotta give them stupid goodies a nice chance to get themselves into a mess and under attack. Once thats happened we can get things inta swingin. Sure, we could probably destroy hordes upon hordes of undead by ourselves and charge inta the temple, but whats the fun when ya ain't hurtin the good guys in the doin eh? So, what we're gonna do is sit back and let em get themselves swarmed. Then we go inta the temple. I figure its been about two days since we left. That means they'll be right about at the edge of the settlement by now if they took that woman's ship. Undead should be noticin em soon and then we waltz inta the temple with much less resistance. Course, no problem with these undead here long as ya wear the mask, had that borrowed without the intent ta return from the 'new ruler' here. Makes these poor saps think you're about as undead as I am, and protects ya from the infections. So the little chump skellies won't be a problem. If they are... willie will take care of em for us."

"Yep, a great plan that will be flawless, unless we die. Well... you'd die, I'd re-die. But, don't fear, if you die I'll simply bring you back as a more powerful, more un-dead creature! You would be much better off undead you know. You'd be stronger... faster... varying degrees of both depending on what you want. You'd be far better off though like I said."
Sargatanas waves a hand toward William and Nhyris as he speaks. Pointing to William when he mentions greater strength and Nhyris when he mentions greater speed.

A little diversity in your group never hurts. If everyone you work with is undead, then your weak point is really easy to spot. Unless you have some visages under your control. I'm pretty sure they don't suffer the same positive energy weakness of the average undead.

The ship arrives by the shores of the jungle. Tall trees rise up bordering on a massive globe of darkness. There is little in the way of stench here, though the occasional strong wind brings the un-plesant odor of rotting flesh and plant matter from out of the globe. Alexander, donning the mask looks warily at the shore. His settlement is distant on the horizon but just barely noticible by the columns of smoke rising from within it.

Location: Northern edge of Horchoud

The Paladins as well come upon the sight of tall trees, backed by a massive globe of darkness. From this distance their detection abilities cannot note anything within this globe, but the feeling it eminates is pure evil. Even from their location nearing it's borders they can see the occasional shadowy figure shift within the tree-line. The sight of a pale while limb, tattered clothing, many signs of creatures lurking within. As they grow closer the stench grows thicker.

Location: Shores of Horchound (south)

While Sargatanas reclines and speaks about the wonders of undead, the branch of a dead tree shifts and groans under a new weight. A skeletal creature with no discernable flesh rests above him. It's red eyes shining out from beneath it's cloak. It clicks it's teeth and stares down at him, a raspy, haunting voice forcing it's way out from it's open mouth.
"You are... the one who will not be named... the... deposed... You are... the fallen lord... why.... have you returned?"

Seems a good way to start. Hmm, I don't think I can see in there too well...I guess I'll just aim at whatever feels evil, and if I'm terribly amiss, shout out something, OK?

Then if we find folk who need help, or maybe someone who's behind all this, we can formulate a more specific plan later.

Nedin goes invisible (30 ft. in the air) and nocks an arrow, following Korraemus into the black.

Sargatanas looks up and tilts his head to the side laughing and standing up with a hop. He walks toward the tree and cranes his neck to look up at the other undead creature.
"Well skinny. Goes like this. Throne stolen, ruler angry. Throne not given back, ruler take back. You see skinny, I'm going to destroy everything that gets in my way until I have my throne back. Those of you that do not resist will be granted forgiveness and even rewarded. Those of you who do get in my way will be reduced to ash and dust in my wake. So, you can either fall in line and serve, or I can break you into so many tiny little bits that it will take all the undead in this jungle years to put you back together right."

Korraemus charges forward into the blackness, promptly finding that charging at full speed, head first into a jungle is a bad idea. Even worse when one finds they cannot see. He collides with a tree almost instantly, moving barely ten feet into the jungle before his head and one of the remnants of a once proud tree meet head on. His collision drives him to the ground as the tree proves a bit sturdier than he himself. Nedin hears this, barely managing to avoid clipping his wings on a branch when he flys into the darkness.

The shuffling of feet and clicking of bones can be heard moving toward the savage paladin. He feels a curved blade dig into his side and another slice just barely through the padded joints of his armor. The sound of other ringing metal echoes from around him as old blades reflect off his armor.

Korraemus takes 19 subdual damage from running headfirst into a tree.
Korraemus takes 13 and 3 damages from two seperate attacks.

Nedin barely avoids clipping his wings on a branch and stays airborne.

Kaer-Thok watches Shar fly off and turns toward Salise. He gives her a quick peck on the cheek before leaping overboard and running through the empty skies after her, fastening a mask to his face as he moves. He quickly catches up to her and slows his pace to keep from running too far ahead.

The group makes their way toward the settlement, the smoke rising up from it is only part of it's worries. A thick cloud of purplish-black gas is dispersing slowly around the settlement, little vapor still remaining within walls that are shattered and broken. The gates of the small fort are shattered completely and resting broken in the dirt streets.

Location: The Shores of Horchound (south)

The skeletal being looks Sargatanas over slowly, it's eyes glowing brightly for a time before they dim and it's hooded head shakes.

Korraemus swings wildly at the creatures he is unable to see. His blade manages to strike only one of the creatures, but the damage done is enough to destroy the beast. The other swings go wide and one hits the tree he ran into instead of any creatures.

Orcy would like to note that Detect Evil is a concentration effect, which means that you need to take a standard action to keep it active. Which means that you are indeed completely blind in this forest. Even if you do detect evil, as Orcy said, the globe of darkness itself is EVIL. Which means the very darkness around your registers under detect evil.

Location: Ravaged Settlement

The settlement lies mostly in ruins. Buildings burnt down and bodies lying in the streets in many a place. Much commotion can be heard in the heart of the settlement. A group of undead bashing away and clawing at the doors to what appears to be the largest building in the settlement. From it's design it appears to be some sort of meeting hall/makeshift keep. Rather crude ramparts and the like have done little to hold back the oncoming dead, but it's sturdy doors seem to be doing the trick for the moment. Who inside is alive however is hard to tell because of the blocked windows and doorways. Alexander directs Shar's attention toward this scene when asked where the survivors may have held out.

Kaer-Thok motions toward Shar and silently directs her attention toward a single undead figure lurking in the background.

It hides just beyond viewing range, it's shadow and the occasional glimpse of it's rotting features visible when it peeks it's head out from the corner. It stands back, but near enough the undead to be heard. The figure moves and the undead change tactics, a few yanking on boards that rest outside the windows. Another set of more agile skeletons begin to scale the wall of the building.

Drawing his sword Kaer-Thok begins to creep through the air toward the hidden figure, motioning Shar toward the climbing skeletons. He moves silently across the air, glancing over his shoulder toward the following hob, hoping their reinforcements arrived first.

Kaer-Thok rounds the corner, stepping forward with his rapier and stabbing at the creature with his rapier. He thrusts into it's body only twice, his third attack glancing off it's heavy armor. His blows, which would prove painfully accurate were the thing living, strike deeply but with less power than one would hope.

The first two skeletons fall easily as another three climb upward. They grip the wall tightly with one claw each and draw scimitars in unison as they move. All three swing at Shar, one's blade managing to cut into her flesh.

The figure steps forward and swings it's large mace with both hands. Attempting to slam the mace into Kaer-Thok's body with bone-breaking force, but his blows fail to land.

Kaer-Thok retaliates, stabbing with his own quick attacks while the creature is left off-balance by it's attacks. His rapier peirces skin a number of times, stabbing into the creature's innards but lacking his usual lethal efficiency. His blade remains dim, covered with the creature's foul necromantic fluids.

Kaer-Thok again thrusts with his rapier, his lenses flash and his arm moves swiftly, stabbing more than should be possible. Three wounds appear in figure's body as his blade flashes back to his side. Kaer-Thok grins slightly beneath his mask, perhaps undead would not be so difficult after all.

The creature hisses angrily, gritting it's rotting teeth it hefts it's mace and swings at Kaer-Thok hard. It's mace flashes with a dark crackling energy but it fails to strike him, his reflexes simply prove too fast for it's own. Cursing it swings another pair of times but fails to hit all the same.

Kaer-Thok takes the opportunities given to him. He thrusts between the zombie-like creatures swings. Stabbing his blade into it's rotting flesh all three times in retaliation.

While the monster Kaer-Thok battles staggers and attempts to catch it's balance, the skeletal climbers swing their blades at Captain Shar. Two miss their attacks, the other, appears to be struggling but finally collapses into dust and falls from the wall. Below her, the twang of a number of bowstrings sound, arrows flying into the air. Four arrows fly up past the carpet completely missing their marks, one however manages to connect, peircing Shar's defenses and leaving it's mark on her arm.

Kaer-Thok presses his attack, lightning sparking and running along his arms, up the blade of his sword. He thrusts repeatedly into the zombie creature's body, stabbing it in the chest a number of times. His blows again are accurate but do not have the same impact against the creature's already-dead anatomy.

The creature hisses at Kaer-Thok, bringing it's mace back and changing tactics. It lunges forward with an outstretched hand, attempting to lay it's hand on Kaer-Thok's body. A burst of black energy pulses out of the creature's hand as it presses against the fencer's chest. The creature grins at the fencer and hefts it's mace in preperation for his strike.

Kaer-Thok winces, not used to being hit all that often. He narrows his eyes and spins his blade around quickly, stabbing at the creature while it is still off balance from it's attack.

The skeletons turn on Shar again, slashing with their blades. One fails to hit anything but air, barely coming close enough to be called an attack. The other however is either more skilled or luckier, slashing across Shar's thigh with it's scimitar. Meanwhile, the skeletons below reload and take aim again, firing their bows at the woman on the carpet. This time two archers hit their target, a pair of arrows flying across her limbs again to leave marks of their own.

Brace strikes one of the skeletons in the chest with his staff, cracking a few bones. The next two, unarmed creatures, he crushes completely with his staff. Apparently angered by being struck the first of the creatures retaliates with it's scimitar. It's attack cutting into the Hob's body to give him his first wound of the battle. Well, that was pretty much a disaster. I have two ideas: one, lurk on the edges and pick them off. Or two, find something that'll let us see in there. Detect evil does no good when the background's evil, and those things don't have any body heat either. I'm favoring a side trip to the city to pick up a magical antidote to this darkness. You?

Kaer-Thok spins his blade, his bracers flashing and crackling again with electricity. Bringing his sword around he stabs into the undead creature with yet another three swift strikes, keeping his steps quick and his typical unusual stance. Burying his blade deep into the creature's body twice, he brings it around and thrusts the tip into the creature's head. When he pulls back he brings his sword up infront of him and nods toward the monster.

The remaining skeleton on the wall shakes violently for a moment before it too falls to the enhancement of Shar's mace. Those below raise their bows again, regardless of the activity above them and fire their arrows toward the woman on the carpet yet again. The young Alexander lies gripping tightly to the same carpet below the woman, a look of terror plastered across his face for all to see. Three of the skeleton's arrows fly wide and vanish somewhere above the rooftops, while a fourth cuts across Shar's body again. The fifth however flys true and burries itself deeply in Shar's side.

The other dead raise their weapons or claws again, slashing and clawing at Brace. The two sword weilders hit the hob, their blades leaving shallow cuts across his more exposed flesh. The others flail helplessly at him but don't do much more than make themselves look less a threat with each attack.

Looking down at it's wounds the creature in combat with Kaer-Thok grins wickedly. It lifts it's hand and growls, pulling back and ready to thrust it forward. It never finishes the movement. Blinking it falls to it's knees and collapses dead on the ground.

As far as I can understand it, the masks are there to combat some kind of breathable curse that turns you into an undead under the control of whoever's on the throne at the Temple of the Damned. You might want to be careful if you don't have one.

Kaer-Thok looks down at his rapier and back up toward the skeletons. He sighs and shakes his head, moving forward and walking past a group of skeletons, stabbing with his blade at each of them as he passes by, leaving himself seeminly open. Kaer-Thok retaliates stabbing into bones again.

The skeletons turn on shar as she lands, the archers dropping their bows to favor their claws. Bony digits slash and claw at her body as she drops into the midst of them. Stormhand steps forward, shifting his foot and raising his greatsword above his head. A flash and the blade begins to glow with arcane energy, leaving a silvery trail behind when he swings it down into the helmed thing infront of him. His sword cuts through the armor and into the undead flesh below. He gashes the creature's body and sends ichor spewing everywhere with a sadistic grin on his rotting face.

Bace slays the sword wielding skeletons quickly, but his kick fails to hit the other.

The skeletons numbers are dangerously low now, Kaer-Thok stepping back over Shar's unconcious form. He hurls his blade downward into the ground and quickly drops low, scooping up Shar's mace and striking at the skeletons who take the opportunity to strike at him. Three of the six skeletons that he sends the mace slamming into collapse into dust. He brings the mace around for another swing, striking at the other skeleton of the group. That one too collapses into dust.

As Kaer-Thok strikes at the skeletons a loud scream is heard from inside the building. The remaining skeletons with blades look toward the building and leap away from Kaer-Thok and the others, climbing the walls of other structures and making their ways over the fences. The others move in and attempt to claw at Kaer-Thok, two remaining on Brace, five on Kaer-Thok. Only one gets lucky, clawing into Brace with it's sharpenend digits.

Kaer-Thok retaliates, striking out at the skeletons around him when they leave themselves open to attack. Each one that strikes him is struck back save one, and they all collapse either in dust or piles of bones on the ground around him.

Brace kills 2 skeletons
Kaer-Thok kills 10 skeletons
Brace takes 2 damage.

Most of Davar's attacks strike nothing but metal, deflected harmlessly by the creature's thick metal hide. Similarly William's slashes cut only into armor, not managing to break through the thick plate. The skeletons click their jaws and bring their blades around, slashing at Davar again, all failing to get through his skilled defenses. Another pair attack Nhyris and William, only one managing to make it through, stabbing william through a more exposed joint in his armor.

William takes 2 damage.

From this opening men and women run madly, fleeing before something unseen. At the front are guardsmen, wearing the colors and symbols of Tyrannor with weapons drawn. Behind them comes one of their own, armored more heavily and carrying a greatsword in two hands. His eyes seem to be trailing blood and he screams madly at the top of his lungs, cutting down anyone that gets in his way with a sadistic grin.

Orcy needs initiative from the Settlement team.

Location: In the Jungle (Northern Edge)

The paladins and their cleric friend make their way into the jungle. The light from Ray's orbs and other magics shines brightly even in the oppresive darkness. It does not however reach high enough to show the natural sun through the black dome's top. As they walk the occasional glimpse is caught of a creature moving off out of the edge of the light. Something shifting in the shadows provided by the same darts back into the darkness. For the most part, it seems, they are being left alone.

Location: In the Jungle (southern section)

The skeletons slash madly at Davar, one of their number struck down by his swings. Their blades are deflected and dodged by the monk flawlessly, not a single strike getting through to him. William's ball of energy crashes against the creature nearest Davar and disipates harmlessly, the other however shouts in anger as the ball explodes and tears it down. Like their counterparts, the skeletons attacking William and Nhyris fail to do any good for their side of the fight.

You intend, that I should give you a token, or perhaps a discout, becase of such a thing? Why, I've never had someone try and take money from me before in such a way, I must say it is quite insulting! You know, perhaps it would be better if I just told her how rude you are and to take her business elsewhere. You should have seen the time she found out the Lord of Lennaws's steward - the Lord was her second husband - had actually found her ship again but didn't tell her because he thought she'd be happier staying with Lennaws. She had been friendly with the steward before that.

But honestly how am I supposed to know nobody is allowed in there? Its her room, its the most likely place to find her, why not go there? But, if you insist on going to her and telling her all this then I suppose I don't have much choice in stopping you now do I? I mean, I could, but that just wouldn't be nice."

Look. I thought you had quite a bit of intelligence. And if you think about it for just a moment, you might realize that the Captain would be on deck sailing the ship far more than she would be hanging about inside. Also, you might recall that she doesn't like it when people board any area of her ship without notification - though I imagine she asked you to deliver these items, I highly doubt she specified that you come to the Captain's Cabin. Third, on a ship you don't get much privacy, so any violation thereof is considered an extreme offense. So that pretty well kills your excuse; but, if you want to prove me wrong about you, tell her yourself. Then I won't.

Brace looks up from his wounds and gives Shar a look that seems to imply a mix of disdain and pity.
"How? Through their vassals.
When? When your body fell towards death and your soul cried for life.
What for? So that you may never forget your debts and never take for granted the aid of the gods.
How do I know? My people are the vassals of the Chained Ones. A mark such as yours in well understood."
At these last words he turns away again, watching the waters and the movements of the people towards the ships.

Shar rubs her thumb over the metal embedded in her skin. She gives Brace an appraising look.

Now that's very pretty religious talk, but what it really means is that you decided that you could stick this in me because you slapped a tiny healing spell on me during the heat of battle? That's just good tactics, man. I did the same for you.

And this thing is remarkably ugly.

She concentrates, and a blur emanates from her ring and makes the flesh appear pure again.

"Your mind is narrow, human." he says as he slowly shakes his head.

And it does not matter what you did for me. The punishment remains, and the outcome would have been little different."

Kaer-Thok clears his throat and looks over Brace and Shar. He rests his hands on his hips, one near his rapier and raises an eyebrow.
"And I killed their leader, a good number of them did a fair bit to knock out a madman. Now, if we would like to keep talking about how the other one is inferior because you BOTH nearly died today, I'd be happy to knock you both into tomorrow and let the gods decide who lives. Otherwise, we've got a ride on a ship and I do not feel like listening to the bickering the whole way. So if you would both not mind too terribly-"

Salise butts in as Kaer-Thok speaks and finishes the words for him.
"Shut up."
She glares a little at both of them and then at Kaer-Thok as well. Folding her arms over her chest she appraises him slowly.
"So you ran off and had all that fun without me? Coulda brought me instead of the kid, I'd be a lot more useful. But no, you left me to sit on a boat with bossy women and the crazy metal merchant bickering like children."

"Well my dear, I am sure you would have done wonders for us and been magnificent. But we did not have enough masks and the boy knows the people. Besides... as you heard from their argument two of our number nearly died. Had you fallen I might have just struck every one down in a fit of blind rage. Which would have been a bit counter-productive."

Salise purses her lips looking toward Kaer-Thok. She lifts an eyebrow just slightly and shifts back and forth in a slow manner. She lets her lips curve into a hint of a smile.

The warfoged at least one of them would have offered to carry the man for Kear-Thok. If he still wanted to drag the man then ok. They would go with the group back to the beach.

At the beach when they arrived Juskirk would have the villagers out into the boats, with atleast one guard minnon. Maybe two.

Once they have all gone back to the ship, the villagers on the ship will be put together and the priest will use some healing spells to help some of the worst.

Once The blade is moving the Raven's Song will weigh anchor and follw Shae's ship.

If any of the villager;s do get the madness they will be put in irons.

Many of the wounds recently delt by Korraemus simply close themselves back up. The creature's jaws clamp down on Korraemus' lightly armored form and tear into flesh. The bulky creature then rises up on it's hind legs and slams down it's forefeet attempting to stomp on the paladin as well. Both of it's mightly legs slam down onto his body. A pair of lashing tentacles swing out from the thing's body and strike out at Kaddy when she comes into it's range. Only one of them strikes her, it's rotting pus-covered surface excreting it's poison as it attempts to wrap around her body. It's axe is large and well crafted, with a few strange designs of it's own. The other creature's armor appears to have been shattered by William's lightnings, though it's sword remains in tact and usable, also crafted for a man larger than usual. As they continue onward into the jungle they can not only feel the eyes upon them but see a number of creatures moving about attempting to hide in the dying jungle. Again the mindless undead seem to pay no attention to them.

I am the Lord of the Damned, Master of Undeath, Commander of great legions of the walking dead and the most powerful CORPSE you will ever meet. I am Sargatanas, and this forest... all you see... is MY will. Though an ursurper sits on the throne he won't for long, at least not most of him. I may decide to place his head on a pike next to it, or maybe out in front. A warning to any and all who dare to challenge the power of my Temple ever again. You boy.... who are you?"
While Sargatanas has been speaking William, a man in heavy armor with bits of flesh hanging off his his body where skin is exposed steps between the two. He hefts a heavy sword and depsite his rotting state his strength is quite notable.

Looking down and sizing up the little man that stands between he and Sargatanas, Gorad looks up and begins to speak over William's head.

"My name is Gorad, and although my chief may have wanted to strip my name, my title is Nighthunter. I have traveled here from far to the North and after seeing this jungle and traveling within it i wish to thank you. Here the sun... it never rises. I can again hunt, albeit the pickings are slim. But through my travels i see very little method to this madness. These things have no order. I wish to find the source and impose rule to this and once again make my own clan... but it would seem it is not my place to do. Lord Sargatanas i wish to join you, eradicate the chaos that has taken this land, and once again have a place within a clan. With your permission perhaps, to raise my own within this pleasant darkness."

With that Gorad bows his head as a showing of respect towards Sargatanas.

Also, how would she having a LA for being a Vampire spawn work with her being lvl15?

Im not trying to step on Orcy's toes but grappling works by making opposed grapple checks. I have you pinned right now so you can either try to cast a spell or try to break my grapple.

Im doing this next part assuming that you are doing what you tried to do in your last turn as your turn. Pretty much roll a opposed grapple and if you beat my 43 you will get free of the pin, but still be grappled.

Gorad ignores the pleas of the girl and continues to suck. Drinking away her blood.

That is fine with Artimas, when the days are cought up in the jungle then fine. Artimas would only be one day after attack on the kender and shar. But artimas would still try to help the group even if from the shadows, after the days are cought up.

DragonStrife

12-14-07, 07:00 PM
Just looked through the Vampire/Vampire Spawn entries in the MM. I believe she would be an elite Vampire, or just a plain Vampire Spawn. Still iffy about the LA, the sample elite vampire, and the sample vampire seemed to not have an LA, but later on it mentioned a LA of +8 for Vampires and +5 for spawn. This is Orcy's call though.

Orcy The Green Wonder

(By the rules and the fact you have over 4 HD... you rise as a Vampire, not a spawn.)

The group marches onward, many undead wandering the jungle as they continue onward. None however make any moves to stop them. In fact, some gather and walk in the distance alongside the group, a silent and unspeaking escort. The days pass, the group resting as needed until on the fourth day Gorad's new 'child' spawns. It is late on the next day that in the distance a colossal skull comes into view. Green ghostly flames burn in it's eyes and the mouth stands gaping wide upon the ground.

The Temple of the Damned.

Outside a contingent of undead stand at attention, two units each facing one another with weapons raised to form an arch of sorts. A black robed figure stands at the end of the long pathway, a nod visible from it's hooded head as the group comes into view.
Gulien

12-14-07, 09:35 PM
This happens as soon as Adrelial rises.

On the morning of Adrelial's awakening Gorad is waiting and lifts the top to the coffin to greet her into this new world. Pulling her from the dirt he makes her stand. Taking his leave of the rest of the undead troop he pulls her aside and extends his arm.

"Drink from me child."

For the next hour she suckles slowly from his arm while he whispers his secrets into her ears. Explaining her new abilities and weaknesses she can feel his blood enter her and make her even stronger than she was before.

"Rise now, my first of many. You are your master's chosen. I rename you now, with my blood fresh in your veins, Adrelial Shadowstalker, Master's Chose of Gorad Nighthunter, Deadly Blade of Sargatanas, Bane of the Living."

In his mind Gorad can feel the connection between he and the girl. Relaxing it a bit he allows her to have her own mind again but with necessary control over her views as Him as her master. After the ritual they arrive back at the undead troop and they approach Sargatanas. Waving his arm he florishes to indicate Adrelial who is kneeling before Sargatanas.

"My lord, I would like to introduce you to Adrelial Shadowstalker, Master's Chose of Gorad Nighthunter, Deadly Blade of Sargatanas, Bane of the Living."

Sargatanas hears Davar near him.

She's still trying to get use to being stronger and faster then before and often when lifting something tosses it into the air by accident. She tries out her new abilities and seems to enjoy her alternate form as a dire wolf. She's still nervous around the others and is always within a few feet of Gorad. She growls quietly when she sees the dark hooded person, she really doesn't like the look of him. She stands straight and waits for directions.
No, I'm fine with that. I think it would be best if I still RP'ed her.
Sargatanas

12-15-07, 03:46 PM
Sargatanas aknowledges the newcomer to the fold. Examining her new undead form he grants Gorad an approving nod. He says little and walks onward, amused by the escort given to them, as if anything in the jungle would, or could, harm him and his soldiers. When the temple comes into view, he stops. Staring ahead at the temple but managing to control himself.
"My Temple... my home. It is finally time to reclaim it... to take my place on it's throne once more. Come... it looks as if we're expected."
Sargatanas waves Nhyris and William infront of him before stepping in line and heading straight for the man in the cloak. He walks casually, going to meet with this hooded individual.

The hooded creature bows extrememly low to Sargatanas. Shining red eyes are the only visible feature below the cowl. It waves a clawed hand with a flourish toward the entrance and a sweet hissing voice echoes from beneath the hood.
"Ah, the great and mighty Sargatanas, you have been expected. Please enter, His Majesty, the Lord of the Damned awaits you."
DragonStrife

12-16-07, 07:14 PM
Adrelial isn't looking very happy at the moment. She moves in closer to Sargatanas and Gorad as she passes the hooded figure, she adopts a more slinking mode of walking and her eyes dart watching for anything threating. She moves closer, but still far enough away that they can still fight, to Gorad as they enter the Temple of the Damned, then moves to the opposite side of Sargatanas. Mainly to keep a look out on that side and keep out of the way .
Sargatanas

12-18-07, 10:19 AM
"Oh yes, the 'lord of the damned' that you serve. I'd be happy to meet the idiot, see just how he thinks to call himself that. After all, it isn't really a 'borrowable title' what with it being mine and mine alone. You know, I think I might just have to take that issue up with him, we'll have a little chat. Maybe over some nice tea and fireballs... I mean biscuits of course."
Sargatanas steps into the temple, making his way toward the throne room.
Orcy The Green Wonder

12-19-07, 10:48 PM
A smile flashes for a split second across the hooded figures face before it once more vanishes with the rest of it's features. Guiding them inward though Sargatanas seems to know his way, the hooded man bows low and waves his arm toward the high archway that marks the throne room. Within, on the black, polished throne set upon a stylized base of bones and skulls is a man. Or rather, what might be considered a man. His body is concealed completely by black cloth and chain armor. Eyes, black like the rest of him stare out from a chain helm, only the eyes visible from beneath it. In the center of the black mass of each eye floats a white pupil with a red pinpoint of light in the center of each. A voice whispers, but speaks with a resounding, powerful tone, seemingly from every direction at once.
"So... the festering corpse returns."
Sargatanas

12-20-07, 01:18 PM
Sargatanas steps into the room flanked by Nhyris and William, he laughs loud and obnoxiously when he sees the man on the throne.
"Drauguril! So good to see you, means you ain't sent back to death yet and I can kill ya myself. Still wearing those wraps I see, not yet willing to admit that you're a rotting, shambling, insignificant corpse with no future? No? Oh well, I'm sure you'll be forced to see things my way soon enough now won't you? Why don't you get up off that boney backside of yours and lets have us some fun time huh?"
Orcy The Green Wonder

12-23-07, 03:51 PM
Drauguril rises from his throne, shaking his head slowly. He extends a hand palm down and closes it over the air. Flames extend from each side of his hand as a blade extends from each side into a solid black two-bladed sword. He takes a step foward and sinks down into a combat stance.
"If you are so eager to return to your grave then we can begin any time corpse."

Sargatanas

01-05-08, 01:04 AM
Sargatanas' eternal grin seems to widen for but a moment, the soft clack of his teeth float clearly through the sounds of battle. He raises his hand, eye glowing bright as he steps forward.
"Oh quite cocky indeed! The mightiest fool this side of Tyrannor. There is something you have not forseen though... something you are too cocky, too foolish to realize! That... my dear naive fool... is that there is NO saftey. There is NO sanctuary for you when you are dead and gone. None will take you after this perversion... none will take you after the fool and dread thing you have become. You've become what you and yours once accused me of being... you've become a monster. A cold, unfeeling, bloodthirsty monster. The only thing that awaits you after this life is over... is rot!"
Sargatanas thrusts his hand forward, slipping past the sword and brushing over his breastplate. Holy energy bursts from the Lord of the Damned's outstretched hand, flowing into the undead body of the ursurper.

Drauguril roars in anger, pain, and hatred. Hurling those gripping him off his body he leaps behind the group. Standing in the doorway he holds his sword out infront of him, teeth grit tightly.
"You... filthy... corpse! I was strong... I was skilled... until you came along. You... you will pay for all that you've done to me. If I can't kill you with some semblance of the man I once was in tact... then I will do it... as an Abomination!"
Drauguril thrusts his sword into his own chest, he rises from the ground and a bubble of black energy surrounds him. The sounds of breaking bone and tearing flesh echoes disturbingly from within the dark mass.

Adrelial growls she doesn't like the dark cloud but she hates being denied a kill. She backs up a few steps and unslings her bow aiming for the heart of the mass if it were to do something. She keeps silent though, a part from the muted growl. Her lack of wisdom gets the better of her.
"You were all ready an abomination. Were you so naive not to notice. It's kind of hard not to. So, what an abomination of the undead?" She calls out her voice heard clearly across the room. "Oh and, dibs on the sword." she wispers to Sargatanas

I'm interested ta see what this boys going to be pulling out here... has been quite some time since I've seen anyone take in this much negative energy. Almost like hes givin himself over to the forces that animate him... fascinating, but also... gonna hurt."

William weaves his own spell, his body shifting and changing into a bear-like form. His muscles as well bulge and claws grow from the back of his rotting hands. His roar echoes throughout the temple, and he takes up his greatsword with a frightening eagerness.

Nhyris slithers up infront of Sargatanas and takes up a defensive posture, sword held forward infront of him.

The black field shimmers a few times then explodes outward, dark shards flying in all directions and piercing everything they touch with a corrupting energy, even the dead can feel the pain. Revealed in the center of the mass is what can only be described as a monstrosity. It's face has the barest of a humanoid shape. The mouth however is wide, and split in two direction. It roars, a sound that resembles thousands screaming, and it's mouth opens in four directions, revealing hundreds of razor sharp teeth. Arms covered with grey flesh end fused into what were each once the blades of Drauguril's sword. The legs bend backwards and split off at the ends into a pair of clawed toes. A grotesque tail swings up into the air, a spiked tip topping it's end. The huge creature roars once more and brings it's blade-arms infront of itself.

As Davar watches invisibly, he can tell things will not end well. The beast is simply too strong to fight head on the way they are, it's form too alien to identify its abilities. As such, he's been quietly watching, trying to figure out how to hold it. Then, he remembers an important detail:
We're inside...and we don't necessarily need that roof...
Without waiting further, Davar moves up to it-and above, as he takes flight*. He stops just before hitting the wall.

Davar picks up the blades, looking them over.
Whichever you choose, the other should probably go to snake boy. Good to see Nhyris became useful in death.
He goes towards the throne, and bows before the Once and Present Lord of the Damned before straightening.

The strange man that had lead you into the room, though you are sure he stood near the entrance for the entire fight, is gone. In his place rests a small leather-bound book that appears beaten and quite well battered.

Adrlial looks at the book and pokes it with the tip of her rapier to see what it does.

Gorad rises from the stone he had sank into during the fight and approaches the throne. Kneeling before the Lord of the Damned he lowers his head.

"My apologies for my performance during the battle, Lord. "

Turning to Adrelial he stands and speaks.

"Careful my child. We know not what traps the usurper and his ilk left in case he should fall."

Sargatanas shakes his head, slapping palm to forehead and muttering.
"For the love of Afflux, you're undead! Vampires! You don't DIE. Keep the coffin safe and you'll never truely fall in battle. Bring the book to me, its just a damn book."
Sargatanas shakes his head, muttering under his breath.
"I've never seen undead act so much like the living."

"Quite frankly my lord, I did not like my stay in hell enough to go back. Vampires are only safe as long as their coffins are safe if this explodes with a large enough charge I'm dead dead. My background has taught me to be careful of anything left after a Coup de tat. They are normally trapped or poisoned or both."
She shishcurbobs the book on to her rapier and drops them both at Sarganatas's feet.
" People don't mysteriously leave with out a reason, may I have permission to track the ex-escorter down, Lord Sarganatas of the Dead and Damned?" She looks nervous, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

Tossing the two scimitars to Nhyris for the moment, before picking up the book. Removing the rapier and tossing it to Adrilal, he says
You're undead. Live a little. Worst this'll do is blow up in your face, after all. Or mine, as the case may be.
With that, he flips the book to a random page and reads
"I prepared explosive runes thi..." Just kidding. But seriously, hide your coffin, and then you're safe.
With that, he looks through the book, away from the scared undead.
