Jeleng, the City of guilds. A place that managed to survive the war mostly in-tact thanks to the forming of the guild council. When the Dromkarians were on the doorstep of what is now called the Guildlands, the guilds banded together. In a move that many questioned at the time they destroyed the great bridge that spans the river. Setting up their forces on the other bank they fought and held off the Dromkarian forces, preventing them from ever reaching the guildlands. After a while the Dromkarians gave up on crossing their army, content to sweep across the rest of the continent.

Since then Jeleng has grown into a large city filled with people of different races and systems of belief. The great bridge is being repaired and a temporary one has been set up to allow the entrance of others into the Guildlands. There are races and creatures growing in power in Sajenda without the forces of the Sultans to fight them. The Fleshripper clan in particular has grown quite powerful, led by a powerful hobgoblin the tribe makes frequent and even casual raids on caravans and settlements.

Orcs and other such creatures wander freely and build their own communities at the expense of the people. The guilds battle for control over Jeleng and seek a place on the council. Fighting secret wars outside of the public eye, battle is ever increasing between guildsmen. Among all of the chaos, a secret organization is said to be lurking, watching over everything with it's un-seen eye. Some say that this Organization, the Hidden Eye, is real, most say it is just paranoid delusions. One thing is for sure however, there is change brewing in the Guildlands...

The city of Jeleng itself is a beautiful city situatied in the middle of the Guildlands. From it's walls one can see rolling hills and fields and on a clear day its possible to even make out the ocean from the highest parts of the city. Well build stone buildings stand all throughout the city, standing strong against the storms that occasionally sweep in from the ocean. The city is always busy with people coming and going. The city has the best smiths around because of it's merchants guild and various organizations. Many things can be found within the city's walls and there are always those seeking work. Jeleng is currently growing stronger, it's guilds developing more and more each day. Perhaps a new age shall dawn as a result of the actions of the guildsmen.

This is an in-character thread. Please try to stay in character here. You can find other guildsmen from the various guilds in the city and often on the streets as the guilds tend to send their members out on the streets, each watching out for opportunities and the like. If you'd like to speak to a member of a guild just approach one and Orcy will respond with an NPC character. He isn't going to list everyone on the streets since things are constantly changing...

My friends, my dear friends! Oh my sorrow! Oh my grief! I beseech you good guildsmen and women to help me in my dark hour! My daughter, whom I treasure and love dearly, has been stolen away from my very own grounds! These beastly orcs came upon us suddenly and from nowhere, we fought them bravely but they manage to flee with my dear one! Oh the horrors they must visit upon her, NO! I cannot even imagine! Please! Please save my daughter!

Good guildsmen and women of Jeleng. Recently we have recieved many reports of bandit activity in the Dusksong Forest (located southeast of the city). These Bandits have been attacking the people there, and a nearby Lord reports that some of his personal guard have seen men on the manor property. We are obviously concerned about this situation. Please, take a look into this matter if you can. We will be taking the first four individuals to sign up for the mission at the Guard station by the south gate. Good luck!

We demand justice! Or some semblance of what one might call justice. Vincent Vlundmoore, a 'political' individual has proposed his last law. The blatant anti-guild legislation suggested by Mr. Vlundmoore has no place in this city. For your own sakes, and ours, we demand the head of this fool. You will be paid handsomely should you succede.
-*this note is un-signed*
Manpower is needed to assist in the building of houses for the poor of the city. The guilds have done much in their time here, but it is about time we began to build homes for those who have come seeking refuge. We will supply tools and material for the building process. We will also reward those who take part in this activity. In addition any of our guild who take part will also be rewarded with certain benefits. Hurry! This offer will not last for long!

A young woman with a well defined and muscular body walks barefoot through the city streets. She wears a loose-fitting robe held shut with a thick leather belt. The bottom of the robe has been cut off a ways up above the knees giving better range of movement for the legs. Wrapped in bandages she runs her hands gently through her long black hair. Settling down on the edge of the town fountain she watches the guidlsmen and women walk through the streets. She cracks her knuckles and sighs softly, looking bored at all the people.

A tall and lean figure walked through the city, headed towards the library. A pair of daggers rested on his lap, a shortbow and quiver next to it, and a long, heavy black blade on his left side made him seem like one of the city guard. He wore a leather jacket atop armor of shining blue mithril, and atop the vest the symbol of his guild, the Keep of the Nine. Atop his head he wore a wide brimmed, leather hat and a pair of darkened goggles hid his eyes.
He raised an eyebrow as he passed the oddly dressed women, but said nothing as he entered the large library.

The woman glances over the armored man as he enters the library, paying little attention to him. She notices the blade, raising an eyebrow for only a moment before lying down on the side of the fountain. She puts the back of her hand to her forehead after dipping it into the water, cooling herself off a bit under the warmth of the sun.

Norax began pouring through the books, looking through everything from weapons discovered in ancient ruins, to some of the less than savory books dealing with what some think could still be discovered.
Within a few hours, he had four tables pushed together and had dozens of books piled atop eachother, and even some scattering the floor.

Norax finds books in his search regarding many legendary weapons. Most are stories about these weapons and fighting that takes place to gain them. Some swords are listed as well as a pair of Axes. Out of these items the axes have the most information, in religious texts for the most part. The library of the guildlands is not as large as those that exist elsewhere, but there is some information found on the subject of Legendary swords.

Outside of the Library, a pair of Knights from the Ordered Chaos stop and speak in hushed tones on the steps. One motions to the woman on the fountain who wears no guild symbol the other shakes his head and shrugs. Running a finger along his guild badge, a symbol of fire forming a perfect circle around the holy symbol of the god Zeiram, he looks about once more. The two approach the woman, hands on the hilts of their blades with black armor reflecting the light of the sun in the sky.

Norax copied down what information he could find. He rolled up the scrolls and put them in his cloak, walking outside.
As he exited, he looked towards the knights.
I hope you don't plan on doing anything...hasty there. It would be a shame if you..knights got yourselves seriously injured in anyway.
He spoke the word knight with disdain, as if spitting out some vile curse in remarks to the knights.
Orcy The Green Wonder

12-21-06, 12:39 AM
The Knights stop in mid stride and turn toward the speaker slowly. They glance at eachother then back toward the elf that had just spoken and laugh openly. Wiping a tear from his eye one knight walks closer to the elf and reaches out to put a hand on his shoulder. A wide grin crossing his features.
"Oh, oh thats rich. Hahahah! Oh my... rich indeed! Why, what would a little upstart guildsman like yourself do to us? You know well enough that you'd be in for a hurting! Those pretty nine walls of yours would be falling down all around you if you even tried to lay a finger on one of us. Besides, we'd drop you so fast your death grip would find your hand on the hilt of your still sheathed blade!"
Taking on a much more serious look the Knight leans in close and narrows his eyes.
"Now I suggest you mind your own business lest we see how the flames of Zeiram treat you."

Looking up the woman on the fountain tilts her head in interest. A pair of knights from the Ordered Chaos seem to be in a conflict with the strange man that had walked by earlier. Ah, some excitement at last! Maybe it would be a good show... that would be something fun. She crossed her legs and rolled her shoulders watching the goings on with an amused smile.

Those who walk the Sublime Way know the true power, the power of knowledge above foes. Those who walk a diffrent path shall fall to the insight of the nine. Norax took a deep breath, turning towards the knight that spoke of him. Since you seemed so apt for a fight, then why not a duel of honor within the arena? Afterall, if your god will give you so much strength, then what do you need to worry about?

ooc:
I'll ready to use the counter Fire Riposte if either knights attack.

I'll pm you what manuevers I have readied for the day.

The knight laughs and looks at his companion shaking his head. Looking back at the elf he smiles and waves his hands around infront of his face, making oOoOoOo noises.
"So misunderstood! Why, its my right to carry this here weapon. It is my right to keep a hand on it in case troublesome punks like you show up thinking they're the be-all end-all. You see, we were just going to have a nice talk with the lady about guild membership. Being smarter than a street punk with a superiority complex like yourself, I can tell this woman here knows how to handle herself. Why, the muscles should be a dead giveaway! But instead, some little insignificant punk somes up and starts talking to me with an attitude. Can you see where that would get annoying hm? Well, even if you can't I'd suggest again walking away. I don't feel like humiliating you right now because I'm busy. Now, if you would kindly shut the hell up and be on your merry way, then I can get back to business. Otherwise, we can do this merry dance and persue it to it's ultimate stupidity because you feel like being a big man."
The other knight shakes his head, rubbing his forehead and sighing. He rolls his eyes and mumbles under his breath something about tangents and rants.

12-21-06, 01:15 AM
The woman glances around and chuckles. She cracks her knuckles and stands up approaching the knights since it is all too easy to hear them. Stepping forward with her hands clasped behind her back she grins and tilts her head to the side slightly. With a quick clearing of the throat she waves to the knight who isn't currently on a rampage with words.
"You talking about me? Because you can't be if your calling me a lady, that just doesn't seem right since I'm not wearing a gown."

A well built weathered looking man steps out of the library. Seeing the commotion he wanders over, a pile of scrolls under his left arm. You know you all should keep it down, I heard the pickering inside of the library. A guild seal of 5 different colored overlapping spheres rests just over his heart, his clothes showing nothing if not a well traveled explorer. Yes yes I know you are the Ordered Chaos and what not, but this is a place of knowledge not of brute force, leave it that way. A serious tone seems to eek it self out at the end of the statement, hiding behind his apparent calm.
Orcy The Green Wonder

12-21-06, 01:58 AM
"Brute force? Oh good lord you people are all stupid! Don't you know a thing about us? Why don't you go back into your library and shut the door, maybe then you wouldn't hear whats going on outside. Hows that sound? You all seem dead set on running your mouths to us, mighty stupid of you seeing as our particular Order is oh... what was it? Oh right! We're on the Guild Council! You should be treating us with more respect instead of running your mouths like morons. I swear, we should just do the whole brute force thing so you can think your right before you die. But nah, that wouldn't be right. Too expected. Now for the love of Zeiram would you shut the hell up and let me get back to work here!?"

A large dragon with shining red scales swoops down over the city. A man leaps from it's back and falls gracefully to the ground, setting the end of his glave to the paved streets with his landing. Looking up the man, from Mygrod judging by his skin color, stares at the men arguing with the knights. Sliding aside a sash worn across his chest he walks over, the symbol of the Ordered Chaos showing on his chestplate. He carries a longbow made of bone on his back and a few nets strapped onto his belt in pouches. An amulet rests hidden beneath his chesplate and the black leather below it. His hair is dark and his skin carries a brownish hue while his eyes are an eerie shade of blue. Leaning the tip of his glaive forward a bit he examines the elf and the man with the scrolls and gives a twisted smirk.
"Rakag Ekilan! Verbal dueling again? People and thier negative opionions of us, disgusting isn't it? Ah, but I see it's an elf, I'd thought they were all dead!"
Turning to look at the elf the plainsman smirks again. His glaive shimmers in the light of the sun and his smile turns friendly. His manner however still leaves much to be desired and a strange aura surrounds him.
"Well elf, now that your land is destroyed and your people outcasts from the rest of the world. How about getting a little payback by joining up with The Ordered Chaos? The fact that you are alive and not in the belly of a Dromkarian War Beast is a credit to your skill. I thought those things would have killed all of your kind off, but it seems I was mistaken. But no matter the failures of your people. You can make an intelligent choice now. I see fire in you, perhaps the fires of Zeiram burn within your blood already. You simply need a reason to unleash them, a goal... a purpose. But I don't suppose any of this is getting through to you. I imagine your completely dedicated to your own little group."

The man cocks his head to the side, You have no idea what power knowledge brings. But that is why you chose the sword and I the pen. I will not bother you further, I was merely saying that you should keep it down if you expect people to learn quickly in the library. The man sits down on the steps of the and starts to read one of the scrolls. Keeping an eye on the people around he ponders the scroll.

Watching the men talk and argue with eachother the woman yawns and shakes her head. She crosses her arms over her chest and taps her arm waiting to be noticed. Tapping her bare foot impatiently she examines the newcomer and can't hide her suprise and great interest in the dragon he flew in on. Raising her hands she walks inbetween the argruing groups, keeping the elf and librarian on one side and the Ordered Chaos on the other.
"Whoa! Alright boys, lets put them away and tie those pants back up. You've waved them enough today. How about you all just calm down, or get it over with and start swinging at eachother. Either way it will end this little measuring contest you all seem to be wrapped up in. Besides my dear elf, these men are right about one thing, I can handle myself, but I'm sure these two gentlemen wouldn't think of harming me."
Orcy The Green Wonder

12-21-06, 02:39 PM
The Knight looks at the newcomer from his order and nods. Smirking himself, he seems about to make another comment when the woman steps in. Rolling his eyes he throws his hands in the air and turns away from the rest.
"You people are so ignorant its infuriating! You handle this mess Dalag, I've had enough of it! Handle them however ya want, they've already ****** me off enough that we should show them their place! Harassing and insulting members of a guild on the council. Idiots, all of em!"

The remaining member of the Ordered Chaos shrugs and looks at the people infront of him. Thinking for a moment he twirls his glaive and slashes a line on the ground infront of him. He then takes a step backward and points to the line on the ground.
"There, I've put a line on the ground. If you cross that line, things are going to change very quickly here."
He grips his glaive in one hand and rests his other hand on his hip in a fist, standing tall with a puffed out chest. His eyes flash for a moment with a magical light while he looks at the other people infront of him.

"There, I crossed the line. Are things going to change now?"
Cracking her knuckles the woman shifts into a fighting stance. Her fists up and at the ready for a fight.

"Of course things are going to change, they already have. See, your not on the other side of the line anymore, your on my side of the line now. Which means things have changed and instead of on their side your on mine. Which leads me to believe that you would be interested in joining up with the Ordered Chaos, how about the rest of you, care to step over the line?"
With a wide grin the guildsman of the Ordered Chaos waves his hand at the line and bows after his 'performance' with the line. His face grows serious again as he looks up toward the sky.
"You know... I'm not sure any of you are cut out to be members of the Ordered Chaos after all, except you there sugar t.... I'm not going to finish that. But then theres that whole bonus thing for recruiting people. Come to think of it, I haven't actually been paid for doing any of this recruiting. Maybe I'll burn down the offices, that should teach them. But anyway, none of this has anything to do with you people except the not cut out part. So, what going to happen here. Am I going to decorate the front of the library with your internal organs or are we going to have a 'happy fun time' and go on our business?"

The woman stops and stands up staring at the knight and his strange comment. She appears confused and looks around a bit wondering if anybody else is confused as well. Shaking it off she walks closer to the man seeing he doesn't appear too eager to fight, at least not her. She looks him over and runs a finger over his Ordered Chaos symbol. She shrugs and looks up at the sky with disinterest.
"So... where did that dragon you flew in on go. I've never really met a dragon before. It might be nice to see what they're like..."

A dirt covered young man rides into town slumped in his saddle. He slides off panting heavily as he stumbles to the fountain and bends over it. He drinks quickly and looks around wild-eyed. He stands on top of the fountain's wall and shouts as loudly as he can.
"A band of Fleshripper raiders is making it's way to the great bridge! The workers are setting up defences but they won't hold long. They need help!"
The young man rushes off into town shouting over his announcement every so often. Guildsmen gather near the edge of town, many set on prooving themselves and their guilds in battle.

The Great Bridge was destroyed in the war to prevent the crossing of Dromkarian forces. Currently a crude wooden bridge stands in it's place while the great stone structure is rebuilt. It's loss would set back the efforts to re-open reliable trade with Sajenda and other areas, currently only a small amount of trade is available because of the shoddy bridge and people's fears of the goblins.

The rider looks over at the young man as he shouts and moves on into the city. A glint of mistchief comes over his face and he turns back toward the other people gathered. He walks out into the middle of the crouds and starts shouting and turning in circles, extending his glaive outward so it makes a circle and forces people to move out of the way.
"Watch out, move, move, out of the way. Lets go, form an opening, move, out of the way. Don't wanna get crushed. MOVE IT!"
Once satisfied that his circle is big enough he takes a whistle from his pocket and blows hard on it. A loud roar echoes from up above as the red dragon appears from out of the clouds. Swooping down it lands in the circle that has been prepared for it, roaring at the crowd of citizenry who had been looking to see what was happening. With a satisfied smirk he walks over and swings himself up into the saddle on the dragon's back. Exchanging his glaive for a massive lance.
"Well, this sounds like it'll be some fun. I think I'll go, and you wanted to ride a dragon, so how about it there girl? We can get there before any of these fools on foot or horseback, get all the glory for ourselves. But a whole raiding party... eh, what do you think elf? You in? You'd have to be carried, only enough room on this here saddle for two to fit."

The bulliten board is a place for NPCs and PCs alike to place messages seeking assistance. If a player takes a task that is too great for them they may advertise here for help. If a problem befalls members of the community they will often place an add here. Most of these adventures have a limit to the number of players that may sign up for them. Others may have a limitless number but will often be divided into groups. That is that you may find yourself pitted against another group of players who are attempting the same mission. If you see one that catches your eye, PM Orcy (in character) about the mission. Usually this will take the form of a letter, sending, or other sort of message to the NPC who has posted the request. In the case of a PC placing a request, they may do so anonymously. But be sure to have the funds that you are offering for the mission.

Once he reaches the edge of the city he pauses and looks around. After a while of watching people he heads toward a small tree-covered area nearby.

Amara leans against a wall reading over the board. She considers doing a few of these missions. Mainly the Noble's Daughter and MONSTERS! since she isn't yet part of a guild. She sends word to the posters of the messages and stretches. Looking around the city for anything interesting to do. After a few minutes she catches sight of the orc and decides to follow him. She never had seen a Blood Orc before...

Lucien suddenly appears out of nowhere, standing casually next to Dalag, "I watched your performance in the battle. Most impressive. I found it rather interesting how you continually..." with that he gives a slight smirk "... offered assistance to them. Interesting motivations for a member of the Ordered Chaos. What drives you with such fury to defend and kill for your land... yet at the same time be willing for such a betrayal"

As the man appears from nowhere Dalag draws his bastard sword, holding the sword up and pointing it at Lucien. Taking a few steps forward he looks the man over, the sword pointed toward the man's neck.
"I knew there was something strange going on. Now I see why, I was being followed. Well... defending the bridge is beneficial to my guild as well. The increased trade would be... most useful. But we don't need it immediately, so why not stir up a little chaos while we're at it? You on the other hand abandoned the battle. Rather cowardly isn't it? Your people could benefit from this bridge as well, just didn't care much?"

If anything it would benifit my trades. But I did not come here to debate... or quarell"... he then puts his hand on the bastard sword and lowers it from a position near his neck, "I came here to discuss a possible allyship with my guild. You have the proper... mindset, for our guild. And you also probally have the greed. We could be valuble to each other"

Girial circles above the city, looking down on its general aliveness with relief. She swoops in closer, opting to come down in a relatively unpopulated and non-evil spot(*casting Detect Evil*). She is a slight but wiry elf, with striking silver wings and eyes; she keeps her hair short so it looks white. She is clad all in delicate links of mithral-silver and wears a simple grey tunic and leggings beneath that, and no shoes. She has flown a long way today and wishes to rest, so she soon flies back up to a rooftop and sits, watching people.

01-25-07, 04:27 PM
Feeling more rested, Girial drops to the streets, asking passerby about the government of the city. (Assuming that she gets the most positive response about the Defender's Guild,) Girial heads toward the Defender's Guild. She looks for an official entrance-keeper.
Orcy The Green Wonder

01-25-07, 11:21 PM
A man standing at the entrance to the Defender's guildhall smiles at the woman as she approaches. He opens the door to allow her access to the guildhall, a large building with the shield symbol of the Defenders decorating it. There are many walking around within the guildhall, and a large desk set off to one side of the room.
CaptainShar

01-26-07, 12:54 AM
Approaching the desk, Girial says,

Hello, sir. I have recently arrived in Jeleng and am seeking employment with the Defender's Guild.

She stretches out her wings and gives the man a full look at her angelic eyes.

I hail originally from Tephanok and most recently from Celestia, and would like to do some good here in Ogbanar.
Orcy The Green Wonder

01-29-07, 01:02 AM
The Man behind the desk smiles and nods in greetings. He looks Girial over and rubs his chin, examining her wings from behind his desk. He nods a few times, looking her over again.
"Greetings Miss. Tell me, why would you like to join the defenders here in the city of Jeleng? Other than to do good of course. It is a dangerous path to take, filled with those who would do you harm for being a defender of the city and the people."
CaptainShar

01-29-07, 10:47 AM
My own home city has been ravaged beyond repair by the Skygge. I have been flying over this land for several days, looking for a place with hope. My mother whisked me away to another plane when the war became too dangerous, but my father stayed and died. I belong to the material world as well as the Celestial, and I want to do what I can for it. Jeleng is the first city I have seen with some chance to survive and rebuild in this evil land; I wish to defend it until it is strong again.

If my skills are in question, I would be happy to demonstrate my prowess with the blade.

She reaches her hand back to brush the hilt of the greatsword strapped to her back.

But why, pray tell, would the city itself be seeking to harm its defenders? Perhaps I have misjudged and Jeleng is too far gone?
Orcy The Green Wonder

02-03-07, 03:40 PM
"Ah, no no. The City is indeed full of people who are good, for the most part. But as with any place, there are other elements to consider. You see, the Ordered Chaos for example runs through the city, and because of the guild council there is little we can do unless they break the laws set out by the council. The fact that they hold a seat on it makes things a bit harder. Well, I think you'll be a good addition, we'll add you onto the roster as a recruit and after you've proven yourself a bit in missions you'll become a full member, gaining all the benefits and whatnot of membership. Just sign here and we're all set."

The man slides a sheet of parchment across the table for Girial.

(Orcy is sorry, he seems to have missed your post somehow. He thought he had replied and was up to date... sorry again.)
CaptainShar

02-03-07, 04:13 PM
Girial reads, and, assuming that the document says what the man said, signs her name on the parchment.

Well, then, unless you have immediate assignments for me, I will see if I can find some work out in the city.

I have a question, though: will my appearance disturb the people here? I do not like to hide my wings and hair, but I will purchase a cloak if that will buy me more peace.
Orcy The Green Wonder

02-04-07, 05:22 PM
"Nothing immediate, though theres a few things on the board out in town that might interest you. As for your appearance, it won't disturb people I wouldn't think. But they may be a bit interested, nature of man to be curious and whatnot. Might attract some of them Ordered Chaos knights as well. They seem to think it's their duty to at least try and corrupt the goodly folk, twisted lot that..."
The man slides a badge across the desk, a pin on one side to attatch it to clothing.
"Wear that and it should keep most folks from gawking or bothering ya too much. They're less likely to do so when yer wearin a guild badge these days."
CaptainShar

02-04-07, 10:49 PM
Girial examines the badge and pins it on her collar.

Dalag's ears perk up as if hearing something about himself, but since nobody is with him on his rooftop, that couldn't be the case. Dalag doesn't even pause for breath during his entire speech, but at the end he breaths deeply and, swinigng the glaive from his back, sets the tip to the ground and leans on it, apparently for support. After a moment of 'catching his breath' he waves his free hand toward the woman as if saying she may reply now.

Ah, well. Hello to you too. I see I am going to be telling this story frequently:

My name is Girial. I was born on the isle of Tephanok, and raised there by my father, who was an elf. When the war became too savage, he sent me away with my mother to Celestia. There, I trained and became skilled in the use of the blade. I have just returned to Ogbanar, and am newly arrived in this city. As you can see, I have joined the Defenders Guild in the hopes of saving this city, at least, from the aftermath of the war.

And I say that I too do not know some things but know what they are supposed to be...you are fair of speech, sir.

As for what I am doing right now, perhaps you can help me. I am looking for a member of the Ordered Chaos named Dalag, whom Sir Dehney said was going to aid in the rescue of his daughter?

Pleased with her own speech, Girial fixes the man with her silver eyes.

"Dalag!? Dalag Zagran that wretch! Why I know that pathetic excuse for a guildsmen, I know him very well. You know how I know? Well I am him. Dalag Zagran, who's name means "Great of Strength" in the tounge of the plains. Yes, I am that very Dalag, the great dragon rider of Jeleng! Of course, you don't need to believe anything I say, but I am indeed to help sir whatshisname find the little girl he lost to orcs. Why can't parents learn to keep better tabs on their children, or at least die defending them. I mean really, there shouldn't be any kidnappings because the orcs should have known better than to leave anyone alive. Ah well. Can't say that everything is as smart as it should be. A pity."
Dalag swings his glaive back into the air and sets it back in it's place on his back. He brings his foot up and rests it on a rock, striking a dramatic pose of a great warrior. Up above somewhere the roar of a dragon can be heard echoing from above the clouds.

Showing off, are we? Well, I don't come from "distant lands" for nothing.

Girial spreads her wings to their full twelve foot span, leaps high into the air, and swoops down again farther along the street. At the height of her next arc, she suddenly bursts into sun-bright light and blinding silver. She turns around and catches up Dalag in her grasp.

Shall we meet your dragon?

Dalag grins and shrugs, taking out a whistle as he is lifted into the air he blows on it, a rough sound coming from the small metal piece. From the sky descends a red shape, swooping down below the two. Dalag drops himself down into the saddle of the dragon and expertly guides it up and around to the celestial's side. With a wave of the hand he takes off at incredible speeds in the direction of the hills, after a few moments he spins around and comes back.
"I'm sorry, you wanted to keep up right?"
With a grin he slows the pace and flies beside the celestial.
CaptainShar

02-06-07, 12:29 AM
Girial grins back and flies around to the front of the dragon, now flying backwards and facing Dalag. She ceases shining so that he can see where he's going.

Since we're taking a little trip here, how about we chat. First of all, do you know anything about this rescue mission? All I was told is that several orcs captured Sarah Dehney and made for the Riverbowl hills.

Secondly, I'm curious about the Ordered Chaos. To be honest, all I've heard about it are vague misgivings. What purpose, exactly, does the guild serve in Jeleng? With a name like Ordered Chaos, it could mean anything. Personally, I find the "ordered" part of life to result in the most good, but there is a certain aesthetic appeal to a balance between the two.
Skull_of_Shadow

02-06-07, 12:48 AM
"The Ordered Chaos is an organization dedicated to furthering the cause of the God known as Zeiram. Now of course, Zeiram is chaos in the purest sence of the word. However, the Knights of Zeiram, as they are also known, are a bit more than that. Highly structured and ordered, the Knights are... strange to say the least. We follow the idea of chaos and spreading it throguhout the lands, but we know well that there must be some sort of order for Chaos to thrive. In the end, the simple explination is that the Ordered Chaos exists to spread Chaos. Theres a thing of beauty in disorder that creates it's own order. Man, orc, elf, all are chaotic by nature. Creatures subject to changes of heart and attitude. There is no greater thing than seeing them live in their natural order, chaos.

The fires of Zeiram chill the souls of those that do not see the truth as they like to say. A thing of beauty to see people confused, to see them free of their everyday chorse and monotony. I do so love to see such things. On the plains, the order is made by the strongest as it should be. The powerful rule over the weak, and protect them. In turn the weak serve the powerful for the protection they provide. It is how things should be, don't you agree?"
Dalag leans back in the saddle, resting comfortably as the dragon does it's flying, guiding casually with his knees now and then. He looks down at the world below and shrugs.
"As for the Orcs and the mission, whatever her name is... who knows? From what I know, the orcs are a tough bunch, but poorly organized. They're holed up in an old watchtower that they've converted into the entrance to their cave systems. Clever for orcs. But with their organization, I doubt they'll be able to do much against us. We might have to go into the caves to find the girl, if they haven't decided to use her for others things already. Orcs, no tact."
CaptainShar

02-06-07, 10:52 AM
The natural state of most sentient creatures is, indeed, neutrality. They are creatures of habit, yet whims please them. Only by banding together and ordering themselves may they achieve first safety, then civilization, then art. Although I grant you that there is such a thing as misused order, which degrades the individual, I'm afraid I can't agree with your Ordered Chaos. In a time like this, when the land is uprooted and dangerous, safety is of the first concern.

Speaking of the individual, as we have discussed all relevant details, would you or your dragon mind if I ride so we can make better time and spare the girl any more suffering?

Do I just subtract the listed prices for shovels, the wand, and the bracers, from my gold? I'm assuming I can automatically find two shovels for sale; how about the wand and the bracers?

And I still have two Cure Light Wounds left.

Girial finds the two Defenders in a side alley a short distance away. There, they appear to be searching around through trash barrels and boxes. Apparently, they'd lost the man they had been chasing somewhere in the alley. At first glance, there is no entrance to the sewer here, there are crates, barrels, and a few doors locked with chains.

If you'd like to make a spot check go right ahead.

Girial finds that there are boxes and whatnot, but there is no apparent hiding place. From her arial view she can see into some of the barrels and crates, but there is nobody within any of them that she can see.

Girial comes back down.

Hello, sirs. You might not have met me yet since I just joined the Guild, but I'm also from the Guild of Defenders. My name is Girial. Who are you, who was that guy, and are there any reinforcements available to help me with the rescue of Sarah Dehney? I was trying to find her when I ran into a group of monsters and I'm a little too weak now to go find her myself, but she needs to be found as soon as possible.

"Well, it looks like my expertise may be needed in this matter. Just wait here a minute. I'll be right back and we can get you healed up." Kero jogs over to the alley the defenders followed the thief to. As he helps to seach for the thief, he bumps into one of the defenders. He quickly apologises for the slight and continues searching.

"Well lady and jents, he went this way." Kero points to one of the chained doors. "That chain doesn't actualy appear to lock anything, and seems to be attached to that crate."
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-04-07, 12:36 AM
"Well lady, we will give you a hand with what you need, but first we should try to find that thief. We should be wary however... he may be a member of the Banker's Union, and if not them... perhaps the Breath and Blade. I do not like it when they use secret entrances..."
The man sighs and tugs on the indicated chain, lifting the lid off of a crate that has an emtpy floor.

While the other Knights look to Girial for what she intends to do. They appear reluctant to enter an underground passage in the guild city. It is well known to most that such places are dangerous for all but the 'lowest' forms of life in the city.

Kero and Osru make their way to the defenders guild and find themselves outside the building. A guard standing at the front door looking somewhat bored, but still at full attention and alert.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 01:29 AM
Girial notes their reluctance.

On the other hand, maybe you guys know more about the city than I do. Unless what that guy took is extremely sensitive, how about we just take note of the entrance, close it up, and tell the Guild about it?
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-04-07, 01:33 AM
"That sounds like it would be a good idea indeed. I am loathe to allow the man to escape... but those... people that lurk down there. Well, they would love a chance to strike out at any one of us I would say. We aren't the best liked by the shadier aspects of the city I am afraid. It comes with the job I suppose. Stopping criminals from running things their way tends to make them a bit... unfriendly toward you."
Sssargoth

03-04-07, 01:33 AM
Before they get too far, Kero callsover to Amara. "Miss 'I'm-oh-so-bored' c'mon if ya wana learn what I know, unless ya wana stay there all bored and the like. Now that I think about it, we haven't been properly introduced. My names Jonas. "Jonas" continues to lead Osru to the defenders guild.
Ashariana

03-04-07, 01:42 AM
Amara hops after the two men and hums a tune. Taking a peak down the alley herself she shrugs and continues following the men. Her bare feet gliding gracefully over the stone of the city streets she tightens the belt holding her robe together and walks beside Jonas.
"Hi Jonas, my name is Amara, Amara Illusaran. So, you know some things about this huh? Is it going to be fun?"

Girial goes to the market, purchasing two shovels, a wand, and a pair of bracers. Looking up at the sky - she wants to get back to Dalag before nightfall - she heads to the Defenders Guild.

There, she checks for her badge and notices it is missing. She goes to the man at the desk.

Hello sir, I'm back, I helped kill some monsters who were attacking our citizens, but I seem to have lost my badge when I got knocked out by a bear. I must return soon to the site of the battle, for I promised one of my allies that I would help bury his steed.

She shows the shovels.

But if I could be healed, and reinforcements sent with me, I can immediately proceed from there to the Orc Tower where Sarah Dehney is being held captive.
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-04-07, 01:54 AM
"Well... normally we don't do this. But since you ARE new and I recognize you. I guess I can give you a hand just this once. Here is a new badge, head down the hall to the right of the desk and take the first left. You'll find the healers there. This time... please don't lose the badge."
The man slides a badge across the desk and waves a hand toward the hallway at his right.

"Well, I just hope neither of you are afraid of heights. I'll share everything else whe we are in a more private locale. Once they reach the Defenders Guild, Kero gets the guards attention. "Sir, could you point us in the direction of the guild healers? My friend here is in grave need of them, ad he's a member if that matters. Kero appears to pull the guild badge of the defeders guild from one of Osru's pockets, and presents it to the guard.

Wandering through the city, mostly through the legs of other travellers, this small lizard-like creature makes his way through the streets.

His scales acid green accented by deep black stripes running from a large crest down his back and to the bottom of his tail. His large yellow eyes magnified tenfold by the pair of runed goggles he wears upon his head. Upon his body he wears a leather vest that actually appears to be made out of leaves, strangely a few inches from everywhere the vest touches his scales... they too are that same dull shadowy brown, on the back of this is strapped a bow and a closed leather quiver. Around his waist is a thick leather belt made of some animal's hide, upon it a few strands of rope, some chains, and a small studded and secured leather satchel.

Walking past a few fruit stands he looks through his satchel and sighs, knowing he is nearly copperless and needs to find a meaning of income in the city quickly... those elven fruits surely do make his stomach grumble.

As he walks he notices a board with a large post it on it... he reads in silence as people walk by and over him, his tail subconciously dodging passersby with ease.

"...A noble...daughter...orcs...rescue..." He hisses quietly to himself as he reads, his mouth opening enough for his forked tongue to dart in and out and to show his sharp white fangs.

With that and a nod, he goes and decides this seems like the best place to start, nobles are rich, this should be good.. right?

He can't go it alone though... no... hopefully he'll meet up with other adventurers without a prejudice of his kin... For now he'll head towards the locale, hopefully he'll meet up with others on the way...

So onward Greenspine goes on his first wayward adventure! Heading towards wherever im supposed to go (I'm assuming it's posted as well) but keeping a quick pace.

Oh, sorry Osru.

To the healer:

"A thousand pardons in regards to earlier, Good Sir, I and the man you saw with me had a bit of a drunken bet to see if he could pass me off as a member. "Your home? You have taken up residence here then desertlander? Well, welcome to Jeleng. I at least assume you are newer here since you are still dressed as a desertlander. A will to defend the city is a very good start, can you tell me why else you would like to join us?"
Zombomaniac

03-05-07, 11:02 AM
Osru laughs a bit at the man’s comment about him being a desertlander, it is a friendly laugh.

“I’ve lived here longer then you realize, but yes I am formerly from the desert and it still holds true to my heart, hence I honor my past and my Desert Magics by dressing as I would in the great sands. Since I moved to this city, one of the few cities strong enough to have survived the Dromkarian attacks, I have grown to love it and the power that strengthens it. Unfortunatly there are still forces without and within the city that would see it fall. I was raised in such a way that I know the importance of protecting those thing that are dear to me.”

Osru visably warms to the subject of protecting the city.

“In ways of proving my worth I fought in the bridge battle against the Fleshripper Goblins, took down two of their Shamans and some their warriors, and more recently fought beside Girial, a member of the Defender’s Guild, in a battle against a group of Half-Dragons and Dire Bears."
Orcy The Green Wonder

The man rubs his chin and nods, sliding a piece of parchment across the table.
"Very well, if you truely do wish to help this city, then sign here. If however, you just want the free healing offered by the guilds... then I suggest you go elsewhere. We don't really take kindly to people pretending to be guild members when they are not. If a man were to come in and need healing from serious wounds that he sustained fighting for the city, a member of the guild that couldn't get the needed healing because someone else had pretended to be one of us. Well... you can imagine I'm sure."
Zombomaniac

Osru couchs at the mention of cheating the guild.
"Yes, well lets hope people have more decency then that."
Osru Give the paper a quike read to make sure there isn't anything to restrincting in it and then follows to sign it.
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-06-07, 12:49 AM
The man takes the paper and looks it over. Putting it away in a folder nearby he reaches into the desk and pulls out a badge. He slides the badge across the table to Osru.
"Well, here you are. Try to live up to wearing that badge. It carries quite a weight with it, and you won't be the most loved of people in this city. Those who would like to take advantage of others, and harm others look upon us with a bit of anger and hate. But I'm sure you can handle that."
Zombomaniac

03-06-07, 10:48 PM
"Certainly, Sir. I shall wear this badge with honor."
Osru takes the badge, bows, and then makes his way toward the Healer, greeting the guard and displaing his badge as he goes.
"Dear Healer, I know have a badge all my own."
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-06-07, 11:50 PM
The healer looks at the badge and sighs. With a shrug and a wave of her hands Osru's wounds begin to heal themselves. Taking only a couple of spells to heal him fully.
"I hope you joined for the right reasons."
Zombomaniac

03-07-07, 08:35 AM
"Don't worry, Broodma, I actually do believe in what your guild stands for. I just never wanted to join before because I felt it would restrict me to much, but recent events have shown me that I must align myself with a greater force."
Osru thanks the woman for her healing and takes his leave back to the town square.

Dalag jogs into the city on foot and heads quickly toward his guild halls. Entering for a moment then heading back out with his lance in hand. Waiting infront of the large temple fortress of Zeiram. After a few more minutes a young man comes around leading a horse, decorated with goblin war paints and armored in studded leather. Dalag slings his lance into it's resting place in a leather thong on the saddle and flings himself onto the back of the horse.

The center of town is busy as usual, Knights wander about, patrolling the city and watching for any sign of threats. A pair of defenders stands off to one side of the square, currently the center of some of the people's converastions and attention. They stand arguing with a few darker skinned men, one in particular stands infront of two mounted individuals with thick, powerful looking bows across their backs. One continuously glances towards Dalag, recognizing him as a fellow plainsman.

On the opposite side of the square, a pair of scruffy men, with obvious mercenary looks and armaments speak to a well dressed man carrying a sheated thinblade. He appears distraught and looks as if he'll charge out of the city at any moment.

Amara walks over and plops down on the fountain next to Osru, she gives him a rough poke and looks him over with a nod.
"Aha, healed up huh? Not as much fun to poke now though."
She smiles and laughs then noticed the man across the square. She waves to Dalag, remembering him as the man who's dragon she had ridden on to make it to the battle at the bridge. He was busy however, so she just stretches out and leans back, balancing on her butt while stretching arms and legs.
"So, whered those other guys go?"
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-08-07, 03:45 PM
The man smiles and waves a hand in a north-eastern direction. Looking to the defenders and the men beside him, he turns back toward Dalag.
"Our enemies are your enemies. The fleshripper clan of goblins raid our lands and attack our people. Others flee before them rather than stay to fight, it weakens us as a whole when such things happen. Your people have had problems with them as ours have. It is only natural that we seek an organized attack against our common foe. It would be beneficial for us all to do this, do you not think?"
Zombomaniac

03-08-07, 10:16 PM
Osru shrugs at Ashariana's second question.
"I am not sure where they are, Desert Viper, but I gave my word I would aid them in their hunt and thus I shall. Even if I had to join a Guild to get my healing."

'Jonas' slips in next to Osru as quietly as a flying owl, considering all the noise in the square. "Ya know, my plan back there woulda' worked if it haden't been for miss pointy-eared and feathery. Fortunately we probably won't have to deal with interlopers during the job. So, how do you two feel about heights?" 'Jonas' starts toward an unocupied alley, and motions for Amara and Osru to follow.

Meanwhile in the merchants district, Neri is still trying to get supplies.

Neri enters the shop of a 'friend' "I'm going to need about two hundred feet of rope, and a grappeling ladder of the same length. Do you think I could get these quickly?

"Well, that should do it."

"I have an offer for you then. I am on my way to fight the orcs that lurk in Shadow Watch. My.. allies seem to be of the belief that three of us can take on the entire group, I however am not so foolish. Perhaps... if you and your men could assist me... then I can speak to the council. I can get you a meeting... I believe, to speak with the heads of the guilds themselves. How would this do?"
Orcy The Green Wonder

03-09-07, 04:45 PM
Kekerish-ag-Barog makes a thoughtful noise and looks Dalag over. He notes the Ordered Chaos symbol on the man's breastplate and turns toward his companions. Speaking in low, hushed tones for a few moments they all nod and he turns back to Dalag.

“Hmm….’Housing for the poor’….that sounds good. OH! And I get extra stuff is I’m a member! Think think Yikkin, they help the poor, good that, and they reward members for doing good stuff, all good that.”

The odd man seems to ponder this for a moment and then in an overly loud voice but still to no one at all he yells.

“They sound perfect! Defenders Guild it is!”

He then sets off to find the Guild and after much searching and asking for direction he finds himself at the Guild Hall.

"Yes Sir, I wish to join. This surface city has caught my interest as none thus far; its strength and the new power that lives within it, the Guilds. I will need to watch this power grow and the best place to do that is from within a Guild. Though I must pick a Guild I feel with aid the people if I am to aid it, thus I have chosen your's."

Walking through the city gates of Jeleng, comes a tall well built half-orc. His skin a smokey green, with eyes of brilliant, almost unnatural, blue. His body muscular and well toned, a tarnished worn chain shirt draped over his body, a belt of tied skulls covered in arcane runes, with a thick animal hide wrapped around his waist for a makeshift kilt, and to complete the outfit a pair of wrapped sandals tied up to his knees.

Strangely, he seemed to be surrounded with intangible objects. A bulky purple scaled belt hovers around the skulled one, his body seemed gray and his muscles more pronounced as if another slightly larger creature were standing and moving with him, chitinous scales layer across his shoulders down to his wrists, which then curve forward slightly over his hands, and lastly his hands are furred and have sharp black claws at the tip of each finger.

He walks in a shadow, the shadow of a giant feather monstrosity hulking along behind him, with red gleeming eyes and a ridged black pointed beak. The creatures large arms ended in two gauntlet covered yellowed claws, which were jagged sinisterly, but clenched. Its body is covered in battle worn studded leather armor, with a black leather collar wrapped around its neck, a steel chain hanging feet of the ground is attached to that.

The orcish man turns to a city guard.

"Oye, you der'! You kno' where a feller can find a job? Preferably 'un that involves some 'uscle?"

"A both, kind Sir. I seek a place that I feel has hope in becoming a true beacon to the world. To many times I have tried to help any place I went to, just to find that the location is hopeless. I must find one with a foundation I can build upon. This city has such a foundation."

"The board in the center of town has job postings."

Looking the guard over as well he looks into town then up at the massive creature then raises his hand to it.

"Karkas, Bogi!" With two deep grunt he says the words and lowers his hand, the beast falling to a knee. With this he climbs up onto it's shoulders wrapping the chain around his right arm. "Nalt! Parpara!" And these with words the beast rises back onto its feet and marching onward into the town to the board postings. "Nadal, Bogi!" The beast lurches forward with a defiant screech and falls back to a knee. The orcish man looks over the listings.

"Bandits... Dusksong... Good..." With a nod, he pulls the chain a bit harshly, making the beast screech again. "Nalt! Parpara!" The hulking creature turns slowly, as he guides it towards the southern gate.

As he comes upon the outpost he pulls the chain back and slides down the creature's armored front. "Karkas! Rogtar!" He barks at the creature stomping his foot. "Mir, mir!" He pats the beast's powerful beak and it growls affectionatly at the gesture. With this, he turns to the Outpost and Enters walking to the closest front desk and placing his clawed hands on the desk. "Names Scara, 'ooking into da Bandit problem, who I speak to?"

A guardsman looks up at the orc with his one good eye. He looks him over, as if inspecting a product he intended to buy. After a few moments of this he looks down and scribbles "Scara" on one of the papers infront of him.
"Well orc you'd be the first to show up for this particular job. I can send ya on ahead to the manor, or you can wait around town till ya get some help with it. I'll tell ya now, you won't be doin it alone if you value your green butt. Then again, I ain't an orc, so you may just wanna run down there and get ta fightin. Whatever... so what'll it be?"

The defender behind the desk smiles at the strange looking fellow. Nodding and sliding another parchment to Yikkin as he takes the signed one he waves to a few others in the room.
"These gentlemen will be supervising for the project. Unfortunately we do not have the room within the city for these houses, so we will need to build outside the city walls. We were planning on working a short distance from the west gate, being mostly plains, there is little travel in that direction. Of course, some manors rest out that way, so the road is still in use. Rubbing his chin the man behind the desk makes a thoughful noise.

A silver-winged woman flies high above the city. She circles over the home of Sir Dehney and descends in spirals to his front gate. As she gets closer, you can see that it is Girial, with dirt and dried blood all over her and many puncture wounds, tattered clothes, and no possessions other than a letter.

An audience with Sir Dehney, concerning his daughter, please.
Orcy The Green Wonder

05-22-07, 12:22 AM
The guards look Girial over and glance at eachother, shrugging one heads inside and a few moments later returns with Sir Dehney. He approaches and looks Girial over with a bit of a grimace.
"Oh... this... this is about my daughter? You... you look terrible. This cannot be good news! It cannot! Oh... oh my... this... this isn't good. What, I am afraid to ask... what is your message?"
CaptainShar

05-22-07, 07:54 PM
You may read it for yourself, sir. I can tell you that your daughter is alive. Unfortunately, that is about all. Five warriors answered your summons, but we encountered too much opposition from the orcs. All were wounded as I am, or even worse; I, unfortunately, was captured as well. Working with the orcs on such harmless errands as these gives me more freedom than I would have otherwise to continue doing as much good as I can, including looking after your daughter. Forgive me for being the bearer of ill tidings...but I believe it is time for Sarah to be ransomed. The time for making a point is past; she must be returned before she is permanently harmed by imprisonment and hunger. I am sorry, sir.

Girial hands him the letter.

"I.. I suppose you are right. Well, let me see what the savages want from me. Oh I can only imagine the horrors of their hell hole. Oh my... well... lets see."
Nedros Dehney opens the letter and looks over the page, reading what is written.
Dyne

05-24-07, 10:15 PM
The letter reads as follows:

Dear Sir Nerdos Dehney,

Over the past few days your daughter, Sarah Dehney, has been a guest of the Orc fortress of Shadow Watch Keep. As the leader of the Shadow Watch Clan, I, Dench Bloodfeng, would like to inform you that your daughter has been resting peacefully in the safety of our guest quarters. In return for our hospitality, we request a payment of ten thousand gold pieces, paid in full as compensation for keeping your daughter safe. In exchange for such payment, your daughter will be safely returned to you, escorted by the winged messenger you see standing before you. I hope you consider our reasonable proposal, and I am confident you will make the best choice which will benefit all parties involved.

Cordially,

Dench Bloodfeng, Orc Warlord
Orcy The Green Wonder

Nedros shakes his head and walks back and forth, pacing, as he reads the note. He mumbles to himself looking it over and nearly faints when he reads the ransom the orc demands. He quickly scribbles a note of his own, folding and sealing it with his ring before handing it to Girial.
"Here... take this to that... crazy savage."

The carpenters get to work, pointing out locations for others to assit them. Lifting boards and hammering nails into the wood to form a basic frame. Those who are not very experienced or skilled are shown exactly what to do, while others begin helping in their own ways. The man that had spoken to Yikken, ignored, shrugs and walks away, heading in to help the others.

Can you please tell me what it says so that I have some idea of whether he's going to chop my head off when he reads it? And what did he ask for?

Orcy The Green Wonder

05-30-07, 10:37 PM
Nedros retires to his own room, a section of the large house seperate from the guest quarters. A guard stays in the general area of the guest quarters for the night, for defense of whom is the question however.

I'm guessing you were off duty when Sarah was kidnapped, Hector, but surely you've heard more about it than anyone else. Was there a good fight? I've fought those orcs myself, and they can definitely make a good showing when it comes to combat.
Orcy The Green Wonder

Girial, sensing the guard's discomfort, says,

If you would be so good as to inform me when Sir Dehney is up, I should like to take my leave of him before going to the Guild of Defenders. Oh, and if you could procure a needle and thread, I should like to make an attempt at making myself a bit more presentable.

Richard rides into the city, wounds healed and looking rather annoyed. With his lance at his side he passes the builders and gives them a look over. He smirks and grunts, waving a hand over at the housing.
"Oh, real pretty. Good luck keepin em standin with the filthy savages you'll be putting in here. Good luck keepin em standin with the monsters out there. Course, it'll get the filthy pigs outta my city, so more power to ya!"
Dalag laughs and turns his mount toward the city, riding on through the gates and heading toward the large dark building marking the keep of the Ordered Chaos.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-02-07, 02:19 PM
"My lord should be awake already, he'll be in the dining hall. I can request thread and a needle brought to you there if you would like..."

Elsewhere...
The people glare at Dalag as he passes. A couple throwing up rude gestures and one or two even tossing a hammer after him when he rides off. They shake their heads and go back to work, the words 'blasted chaos knights' can be heard muttered from various locations.
CaptainShar

06-02-07, 10:06 PM
Never mind about the needle and thread, then; I shan't have time. If you would point me in the direction of the dining hall?

Girial runs her fingers over the holes in her clothes, as if to make the cloth lie differently and somehow look presentable, and gives it up as hopeless.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-02-07, 10:49 PM
After being pointed to the dining hall, Girial finds Nedros sitting down and eating already. He has a good amount of food set out infront of him and a second place is set as well. He glances up and waves her over without saying anything, though the mouth full of food could account for that.
CaptainShar

06-02-07, 10:53 PM
Girial sits and helps herself to some food.

Good morning, sir.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-02-07, 10:56 PM
"Yes, morning. Ugh, what a dreadful night, just the thought of those dirty orcs had me a bit-"
Nedros shudders and shakes his shoulders out.
"Anyway... you'll deliver that message to their leader I assume. That should be good and done, then we'll see what he has to say about that."
CaptainShar

06-02-07, 10:58 PM
I will, but - perhaps after the first shock, you would reconsider telling me what it says? It might aid negotiations if I had some understanding of the matter.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-02-07, 11:00 PM
"I'm sorry miss, but this is between me and the orcs, the message is for their leader and not for you. There are matters here that you would not understand and I cannot involve you with. If I could, I would... but my hands are tied I'm afraid. These things happen. I trust you won't take it upon yourself to look at it?"
CaptainShar

06-02-07, 11:02 PM
I will not open it before it is delivered.

Girial stands.

Thank you for food and lodging, I must be off.

She leaves with the new message, for the Guild of Defenders.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-02-07, 11:08 PM
As she arrives at the guild of defenders the man at the door looks her over and extends his pike across the doorway.
"Are you... in trouble miss? If not... please state your name and business within the guild hall."
CaptainShar

06-03-07, 11:16 AM
Not trouble that you can get me out of, but thank you. I'm Girial and I'm reporting back to the Guild. No, I don't have my badge, but I'm sure the man at the desk remembers me. Most people do.

She stretches her wings out to full length, then tucks them back in and shrugs.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-03-07, 10:50 PM
The guard shrugs and waves her into the building. Standing back to attention at the door.

Behind the desk, the man there looks up and raises an eyebrow.
"Hello miss, there something I can do for you?"
CaptainShar

06-04-07, 07:18 PM
Yes, I have come to report on the, eh, status of my last actions taken on behalf of this Guild.

(Is it the same person as before?)
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-05-07, 02:45 AM
(It is a different person)

"I'll need to see your badge then. If you have no badge... as I would assume by the dress, then I'll need your name. As well, a rough estimate of how long you've been in the guild couldn't hurt, I'd wager not long since I've never really seen you before."
Skull_of_Shadow

06-05-07, 03:33 PM
Dalag heads into the building and then out again after a few minutes after delivering his report. He mounts up and heads down to the merchants district, it was time... to shop.
CaptainShar

06-05-07, 10:34 PM
I'm Girial, if you need a surname I often go by "Silverwing" as well. I've been at the Guild for less than a month, and I'm afraid I'm not worthy to continue. My last efforts were expended in the rescue of Sarah Dehney; unfortunately, the orcs were stronger than we anticipated, and we were defeated and I was captured.

Why am I here now instead of in one of their pits? I have agreed to help them, but only on matters that help, or at least do not harm, the people here. They face some of the same wild and evil beasts we do; perhaps I can even serve better if I help head them off out in the wilderness, where the orcs reside, rather than at our doorstep.

Still; I am bound by honor to remain with the orcs until the agreement is broken by them or is considered by them to be fulfilled, and so I must leave the Guild at this time. If anyone comes in with my badge they are likely up to no good. I do not wish to be ransomed, even if that was the Guild's intention; I believe that would only encourage the orcs to antagonize this Guild further in the future.

Girial hangs her head.

I am sorry.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-07-07, 01:26 PM
"Well... we cannot force anyone to stay as a part of the guild, though we would prefer that you did not leave us in favor of orcs who attack our people. I don't see how you think you can lead the orcs anywhere... but I suppose that it is... your choice."
CaptainShar

06-07-07, 06:36 PM
Girial brightens...literally...at this.

You would still have me? I must return to them for this time, but I would be honored to remain a part of the Guild; wherever I am I will strive to uphold its standards.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-07-07, 07:00 PM
"Yes... we cannot approve of your choice to help the orcs, however we do not throw you from the guild for failing in a mission. We would prefer of course that you did not help the orcs, but rather... perhaps... go back with some troops to finish the job."
CaptainShar

06-07-07, 07:11 PM
Girial looks at the man askance.

You, a man of the Guild, would ask me to break my word? I do not like the fact that the orcs captured me. But I was the initiator of the combat, not them, and then fell out of the sky unconscious. They could have killed me very easily, but instead kept me alive. I owe them something for that. And I have already stated that I will not aid them in anything dishonorable.

Orcy The Green Wonder

But, at any rate, there is still Sarah. If I do not return, I fear greatly what might happen to her.

06-07-07, 07:31 PM
"The I suppose you must go, do what you will... but be careful."
CaptainShar

06-07-07, 07:39 PM
Believe me, I'll keep an eye open even in my sleep.

Girial bows and leaves.

She goes down the road, tucks the letter into her belt, breaks into a run, and takes off, heading back toward the fortress.
CaptainShar

06-11-07, 09:47 PM
Girial appears above the city once more, this time carrying Sarah Dehney. She alights in front of the Guild of Defenders.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-11-07, 09:56 PM
The guard outside the defender's guild raises an eyebrow as Girial comes down from above with the missing girl. He calls for another guard and they come out and look her over to make sure shes alright.
"Ah, you managed to get her out of there. Good. Are you both alright?"
CaptainShar

06-11-07, 10:03 PM
Girial raises an eye at the man, who can obviously see that she is still ragged, wounded (though not as badly as before), and without much in the way of worldly goods.

I got her back. That's the important thing. Now, may I go inside? This situation has become a little more complicated, and I would like to speak to the head of the Guild, or whoever is on duty at the moment.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-11-07, 10:08 PM
The guard nods and waves her in. They talk to Sarah and lead her inside as well for the moment.
CaptainShar

06-11-07, 10:15 PM
Girial once more approaches the man at the desk. She holds out the letter.

Hello, sir. This time diplomacy won out: I have rescued Sarah. You might want to take a look at this note written by Sir Dehney, however. At his request I did not open it until I had delivered it to the orcs. But after that, I discovered that he may have arranged the kidnapping on purpose. He certainly seemed very sensitive about the issue when I was with him. At any rate, I suggest that Sarah not be returned to him until this is investigated. See that she is well-treated and fed, though; she's had a rough time of it.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-11-07, 10:20 PM
"Aranged for it? Why would he arrange for his own daughter's abduction, then offer to pay for those who would go rescue her?"
The man looks at the note and reads it over. He seems puzzled and after finishing shakes his head.
"What is this... other party that seems to be involved... do you know? You've spent some time with the orcs, what might this... other party be?"
CaptainShar

06-11-07, 10:27 PM
Perhaps he did not mean to pay us. I can only hope his plan was innocent, but I doubt it. Perhaps he should be contacted quickly in order to ascertain whether there is some unknown reason Sarah must stay outside the city.

At any rate, if by "spending time with the orcs" you mean coming to consciousness in a small pit, overhearing some kind of argument in orcish, and being sent out as a messenger immediately, then yes, I've spent some time with them. I regret that I know nothing of any leader above the orcs, unless one of them was lying about his surprise at Sir Dehney's note, which is certainly a possibility.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-11-07, 10:34 PM
"Well, as we usually do, we've already contacted Mr. Dehney. He should be coming in pretty soon to see his daughter. Would you suggest that this is a bad idea? Did you want to perhaps... confront him first?"
CaptainShar

06-11-07, 10:38 PM
I don't think it would hurt him to get a glimpse of her first; in fact, I want to see how he reacts to seeing her. But then I would like to talk to him, yes. Is there a room in sight of the one Sarah is currently staying in?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-11-07, 10:55 PM
"Yes, there is a room nearby that you could stay in out of sight if that is your intention. He should be here pretty soon. So if you do intend to hide, you should perhaps do so quickly."
CaptainShar

06-12-07, 05:17 PM
And let me grab a sword, just in case.

Girial looks about quickly for any available weapons, and follows the man to the room he spoke of. She prepares to observe, and to strike with the flat of the blade if either of them shows violence to the other.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-12-07, 05:27 PM
"I doubt you...."
The man stops as Girial takes off to the back room and shrugs. Why she would need a sword in the guild he couldn't seem to figure out. After a short time, Nedros Dehney enters the guild hall in a hurry and rushes to his daughter.
"Sarah! Are you alright, are you ok? Oh I've missed you, I'm so glad you are safe!"
Sarah smiles and returns the hug her father gives her.
CaptainShar

06-12-07, 05:34 PM
Girial watches silently, more confident that Nedros, whatever his other motivations, is not seeking to harm his daughter.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-12-07, 05:37 PM
"Dad... some... strange woman with wings said that you gave me to the orcs. That... that isn't true, is it?"
Nedros pales visibly and looks at his daughter. He smiles and shakes his head, hugging her again.
"Of course not Sarah, why would I do something like that? I met that woman, she was scruffy looking, like she would do anything to get a bite and some coin. Why, I bet shes trying to run my name through the mud to get something out of me!"
CaptainShar

06-12-07, 05:43 PM
Girial slips out of the room again, and approaches the Defender.

If you could arrange for Sarah to be escorted away from her father for a few minutes, I'd rather speak to him alone now. He doesn't seem dangerous but I am confirmed that he is up to something.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-13-07, 03:28 AM
The guard shrugs and heads over, leaning down and taking Sarah by the arm.
"Come along miss, we need to ask you a few things about what happened. We'll be right back sir."
Sir Dehney looks a bit angry that they're taking his daughter away, but doesn't make any moves against the guard to stop him. He just glares at him angrily.
"Why, how dare you take her away for questioning already! I just got her back!"
The guard ignores him completely and Sarah follows, looking over her shoulder at her father.
CaptainShar

06-13-07, 04:58 PM
Once Sarah is gone, Girial enters the room.

Hello, Sir Nedros Dehney. As you can see, I got Sarah back, and I'm sorry I had to take her away again so soon, but I thought you'd rather I spoke to you alone.

I did not open your letter, but I soon learned of its contents after the orcs opened it. Perhaps you'd like to explain why you purposely had the orcs kidnap her?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-13-07, 06:00 PM
Nedros spins around toward Girial and appears horribly shocked and appauled.
"You've some nerve! Why, I would NEVER have orcs kidnap my daughter!"
He walks forwards shaking his finger at Girial until his is in her face, lowering his voice to a whisper.
"Listen to me and listen well, there are forces at play here you do not want to antagonize. There is nothing I could have done against these forces, and if you continue on this path it will me no good for you or my family."
He raises his voice again in an angry manner.
"Do you understand!?"
Skull_of_Shadow

06-13-07, 09:13 PM
Dalag heads out of his guild carrying his lance. He mounts up and rides through the streets looking over the people as he passes. Hearing the voices, he stops infront of the Defender's guild, and noticing the guards are inside, steps up to the door and peeks through the doorway.
CaptainShar

06-14-07, 05:19 PM
Girial quietly moves upward to get his finger out of her face. She replies in an even voice.

Perhaps your situation is too great for you alone to handle; I too have been forced into a situation where I cannot act entirely as I wish - by your own doing, but that is a different point - so I understand. But I cannot let this matter go. The proper channels will be pursued; I am sure if you comply with an investigation you will also be protected, along with Sarah. Seeing as I lost my freedom as part of this - little misunderstanding - I wished you to tell me personally why you acted as you did. But one way or another, the truth will come out.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-14-07, 10:28 PM
Dehney grabs Girial's dress and pulls her colse, getting right in her face.
"I tell you now, if you do this there is NO going back. I ask you, for my daughter, and my family... do not do this."

From one of the side rooms a guard steps in and looks at Nedros, holding onto Girial's shirt.
"Is there a problem here?"
CaptainShar

06-14-07, 10:42 PM
Girial looks back at the guard.

Not immediately.

She gently but firmly pushes Dehney's arms back to a more comfortable social distance. Waiting for the guard to leave, she says, also quietly:

Why are you so afraid? I will not question you more if you wish me not to, for it seems to displease you so much. But my own abandonment of the issue will not affect those who have legal authority and obligation to investigate such a serious matter. So why can you not tell me?

I am not trying to harm you. You obviously love your daughter; perhaps you have been blackmailed? From what I've heard of such things, the demands only get worse. Better to clear it now, now that there has been a happy ending to the matter: Sarah is safe, for the moment. Would you want this pressure that is troubling you to continue, to affect you and her again?

Diplomacy: 21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1102550)
Skull_of_Shadow

06-14-07, 10:52 PM
Dalag steps into the room and stretchs.
"Hey there wings, got the girl back huh? You look like hell, we should get you out of those clothes. So, this is the guy huh? Doesn't look like much... ah well. What is this I hear about... trouble?"
Dalag rests his lance by the door and stretches, the sound of his necklace moving beneath his armor comes from within the breastplate. He adjusts his gauntlets and ring, then smiles. Putting his hands on his waist he says in the sweetest (and creepiest voice for him).
"So folks, whats the problem?"
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-15-07, 01:15 AM
Nedros seems conflicted, he looks around and shakes his head. That is, until Dalag enters the room. He looks towards him and his eyes grow a bit larger. He coughs and sputters, turning back toward Girial and shaking his head.
"No... no problems. It seems that... this woman is just, seeing things that aren't there. Thats all... heh... heh... nothing to worry about sir."
The guard steps back into the room and points toward Dalag with his pike.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing in here?"
CaptainShar

06-15-07, 10:08 PM
Had fun running away, huh?

Girial sighs.

All the better for you. And yes, I intend to clean up a bit when I get the chance, but I've been rather busy lately...

Girial moves to walk with him - and with the guard - toward the door.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-16-07, 12:40 AM
Dalag smiles and looks toward the guard with a 'try me' smirk. Stretching and yawning he smiles and brings his hand down to rest on the hilt of his bastard sword.
"What, you don't wan't me here? Why, I'm just here to have a conversation, so eager to kick me out already huh? Just having a talk with the woman who managed to get herself caught by a bunch of weak orcs while letting them attack us. Just floating up above us while we fought and she stayed out of danger. Cowardly if you ask me. So, we can't chat? Maybe have a cup of ale and a nice sit down?"
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 12:48 AM
"Get out of here you filthy Chaos Knight. You have no place here in our guild hall, leave now or we'll throw you out physically. This will be your last day if you choose to fight us fiend!"
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 12:55 AM
Girial nods with the guard.

Yes, I rather imagined you wouldn't be welcomed here.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-16-07, 01:09 AM
"No? Not welcome huh? Well that is just plain rude."
Dalag shrugs and picks up his lance, taking a step backwards out the door.
"I wonder how many of you it would take before you actually managed to kill me though. Would the bodies pile up enough to where you wouldn't be able to get at me without moving them? Or would you by some miracle manage to kill me before that? Personally I favor the pile thing, but thats just me. Good luck with your... interrogation of nobles. I'll be over here if you need me."
Dalag hops up onto his horse and looks into the door at an angle.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 01:12 AM
The guard growls and steps into the doorway, staring at Dalag and holding his weapon ready. He grits his teeth and tightens his grip on the weapon.
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 01:14 AM
Girial beckons Dehney into a further room.

Perhaps we could finish our discussion?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 01:18 AM
Dehney heads into the other room with Girial and shakes his head.
"You are insane! I will die, and you will die. You will get my daughter killed, and there is NOTHING I can do to stop it. You CANNOT do this!"
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 01:24 AM
We will die? Do I need to remove Sarah from the city again - obviously to a more pleasant location? I can perhaps take both of you, if the danger is immediate.

If we are away from...the knight who came in earlier...will you be safe?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 01:28 AM
"You don't understand. No matter where we go, we will not be safe. There is nothing you can do that will protect me, by now they already know. If this goes any further, then they'll silence us all. Please... I beg you, you cannot go any further with this. You cannot reveal anything you've learned. There will be no going back if you do."
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 01:39 AM
Be steady... Girial prepares to catch him should he attack her, or faint, or do anything out of the ordinary.

Then there is no going back. I have already shown the letter to the Defenders, as a matter of duty. Now, if we are in danger, what must be done?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 01:44 AM
"Then... then theres nothing we can do. You've sealed it. You... my daughter... myself... and anybody else that finds out about this. We're all dead. There is nothing we can do about it. You can't stop it... I can't stop it. We're going to die."
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 01:46 AM
Please, sir. If the harm has already been done, can't you at least tell me what this inevitable doom is that is going to overtake us, and why?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 01:54 AM
"The eye. It will come for us... it will kill us. It is... more powerful than anything you have here. It is... more than this guild. It WILL kill us. Theres nothing more I can say... I don't know any more than you do about it... all I know is the eye. What it is? I don't know. Who they are? I don't know. They'll kill us all."
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 01:59 AM
I'm sorry if I can't be properly frightened about it, but I am more sorry if I have caused you any harm. Why did you advertise for us to get your daughter back, if you didn't want the matter looked into in the first place?

Girial strides about the room, trying to discern the cause for such great fear.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 02:09 AM
"I had to, it was the deal. They... they wanted a reason for people to go after the orcs. I didn't have a choice. But it doesn't matter now... shes going to die, and so am I. We're going to die despite the terrible thing I had to allow happen. You've made it worth NOTHING. I had to do that... I had to let those filthy hogs take my daughter for NOTHING."
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 02:15 AM
I am sorry. If you had not been quite so secretive earlier, perhaps I would not have assumed you were acting like a common criminal. As it is, I am sure the Defenders will help you as much as they are able. If I can do nothing further for you, I suppose I must go.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 02:21 AM
"Yeah... go... it doesn't matter. We're going to die. You are going to die. Hope that all this truth talk is worth it... because I don't think it is."
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 02:23 AM
Girial says gently: Truth is the only road to freedom.

Girial leaves, reluctantly.

She looks for the man to whom she gave the letter.

Sir, may I speak to you privately about Sir Dehney?
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-16-07, 02:25 AM
The man nods and steps into another room to the side of the main one.
"What is it?"
CaptainShar

06-16-07, 03:08 PM
The man seems deathly afraid of something he calls "The Eye," saying that arranging the kidnapping of Sarah was the only thing that prevented both of their deaths...and he says that he, and I, and everyone who knows about it will now be inevitably killed. He also became more fearful when Dalag of the Ordered Chaos barged in.

At any rate, he is guilty of arranging for his own daughter to be kidnapped. But I suggest great caution in dealing with this case.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-17-07, 01:15 AM
"We will have to bring him to trial, unless you believe that would be dangerous. I will need to speak to our superiors, but they may agree that we cannot let this go. What would your opinion on the matter be?"
CaptainShar

06-17-07, 04:05 PM
His looks and Sarah's comment show him to be a man who can defend himself from most common attackers. For him to be frightened almost out of his wits like this...I believe it would be wiser to investigate the one who blackmailed him, first. And quietly.

On the other hand, perhaps a safely-guarded jail would be a safer place for him than anywhere else. I am unfamiliar with the city, with blackmailers, with "eyes." I leave it to your judgment, only urging you to consider before you speak of this to anyone else, since knowledge of the agreement seems to be the condition for the danger.

One last thing: he spoke of the purpose of the kidnapping to be that of luring people out to attack the orcs. Perhaps I can learn more when I return to them. I suppose that is what I must be doing, if you have control of the Dehneys.
Orcy The Green Wonder

06-17-07, 07:26 PM
"Very well. I will speak to our leaders and they will make a decision. I thank your for your opinion and we will see what they wish us to do. Good luck if you are returning to the orcs, be careful, they're a violent bunch."
CaptainShar

06-17-07, 10:12 PM
Girial bows and leaves the Guild House. She flies through the market, looking for some new clothes - less elven and less tattered than her current ones - as well as a thick, hooded cloak.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-19-07, 03:57 PM
As she leaves, Dalag looks up at the flying girl and whistles.
"Hey there hun, I like the half missing clothing look. Maybe you can come on down here sweety eh? But in all seriousness hun, we gotta talk."
CaptainShar

06-19-07, 06:22 PM
My name is Girial. You can talk to me after I finish at the market.

She keeps flying toward the merchants.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-19-07, 06:25 PM
Dalag laughs and kicks his mount in the side, moving forward and following after Girial.
"Aw, was it something I said hun? Not a bad view from down here by the way!"
CaptainShar

06-19-07, 06:31 PM
Girial lands in front of a clothing merchant, ignoring Dalag. She goes into the back room to try on some clothes; a few minutes later she emerges wearing a copper-colored leather tunic and pants, and a thick cloak of the same color.

Now, yes, we should talk. What do you have to say?
Skull_of_Shadow

06-19-07, 06:38 PM
"I liked the ripped up look better. Showin off some skin, but that isn't what I wanted to talk to you about. What did the crazy man have to say huh? I figure I risked my life ta help his little brat, I should know what hes got ta say at least."
CaptainShar

06-19-07, 06:45 PM
Hmm now. Maybe I'd treat you like an associate, and give you information, if you treated me like one and stopped being so rude.

Girial crosses her arms, staring him down.

Also, Sense Motive (why he wants to know what Dehney said): 12 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1111766)
Skull_of_Shadow

06-19-07, 07:00 PM
Dalag pretty obviously has something else in mind other than just 'finding out what he had to say' but you can't tell what it is exactly.
"Very well, Miss Girial. What did Nedros have to say about his daughter's kidnapping, the apparent blackmail and pressure that he seems to be under. It was interesting, so I listened. Seems like the old man has gotten himself in a situation that he can't get out of... maybe I can help eh?"
CaptainShar

06-19-07, 07:09 PM
You know, perhaps you can. If you'd like to come submit a statement to the Defenders Guild for the investigation that is forthcoming, I'm sure they'd appreciate a second witness to the attack on the orcs.

He is being investigated, by the way; he refuses to speak clearly about anything connected with the matter.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-19-07, 07:16 PM
"Not sure why ya need a statement on attacking some orcs, ain't nothin unusual around here. I ain't part of your guild either, and they don't really like my kind much, as you've seen. But, I've been around this place for quite a while, I know quite a bit. I'm sure I might be able to maybe help ya understand some of what he has said."
CaptainShar

06-19-07, 07:18 PM
Well now, your own guild is well known for blackmail, is it not?
Skull_of_Shadow

06-19-07, 07:25 PM
"No. It isn't. You know little about our guildlands here I see. We are knights, warriors, not some petty thief who stole some information on a man. We don't need to blackmail to get what we want, we just take it. I'm very much insulted by your suggestion that great and powerful Knights of the Ordered Chaos would stoop so low. Now, are we going to insult me to ignore my questions all day, or are we going to get some answers here?"
CaptainShar

06-19-07, 09:28 PM
Why do you need information about him? Sarah is back, your part is done. And I do not like to spread gossip about a matter which ought to be cleared up, and will be cleared up, by a fair trial.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-20-07, 08:47 PM
"Look hun, I can't help ya'll out if I don't know what ya been told now can I? I'd like ta help ya out, really I would. But theres nothin I can do for ya if ya don't want to help me out here. You have too much confidence in your guild's ability. If you don't want my help, then hey, I'll say something pretty at your funeral. If theres enough to bury."
CaptainShar

06-20-07, 09:52 PM
I appreciate your concern...would you mind if we continue the discussion in the presence of the guildmember to whom I have given charge of this matter? Perhaps you can be of help, but the matter is not mine alone to speak of, any more.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-21-07, 12:50 AM
"You want me to come into your guild and talk to you about things that may or may not be able to 'incriminate' me in things eh? Do you think I'm an idiot? You can talk about whatever ya wanna talk about. You have information, I may have answers. What ya do with em after we talk, I don't care. But I ain't walkin into a hall of folks that hate my guts and saying things that may or may not make em wanna stick me. So, if you wanna die, good luck to ya. But if ya don't we should start talking, preferably in private."
CaptainShar

06-21-07, 04:21 PM
Girial looks at him, weighing her options.

If this is the only way...is a rooftop suitable? As I'm sure you remember, I can easily lift you.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-22-07, 11:53 AM
Dalag shakes his head, looking up to the rooftops. He waves for Girial to follow and rides off though the town, making his way to the outskirts and through the southern gate. After a few minutes of riding, he comes to a graveyard and rides through the gates. Slipping off the horse he waits for Girial to land.
CaptainShar

06-22-07, 01:15 PM
Girial looks around with distaste, *detect evil* (for other than Dalag), and finally lands next to a gravestone with an inscription to a good god.

You seem to know or guess much of the situation. But before I tell you more, for my own peace of mind, swear that you will not use this information to harm anyone.

Here's an approximate pic of Girial, yoinked from an avatar page: Girial (http://drakonis.myblog.it/album/angels/ang-33.html)
Although when she's in a really serious mood, I also like this one (http://drakonis.myblog.it/album/knight_f./knigf-18.html).
Skull_of_Shadow

(Unless orcy says, ain't nothin else evil.)

"Ain't gonna use nothing to harm nobody. Why, I've never harmed a soul in my life... a body yes... but not a soul. But ya didn't ask about that, alright I ain't gonna use anything I learn from you to harm someone. I give you my word, if it ain't enough that I'm a knight... then as a plainsman."
CaptainShar

06-24-07, 07:46 PM
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I only heard you promise that you wouldn't use "nothing" to harm "nobody," a fairly empty promise. Also, that you wouldn't use anything I told you to harm "someone," which could very easily be defined as yourself; I need you to promise not to harm "anyone." Finally, since you have distinguished between the two, I want neither body nor soul harmed.

Also, I suppose I should warn you: by gaining this information, you are likely exposing yourself to the same threat you think I'm under.

Girial relaxes a little.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-25-07, 12:32 AM
"Let me tell you true honey. I don't need this information to hurt people. So I can tell you now that I won't use it to hurt anyone. No need for that to hurt folks. As for this threat, trust me... I can handle myself. Ya see... thats the thing we're gonna talk about... I know of it already. You stumbled onto somethin that you really shouldn't have, something very dangerous that low ranking guildsmen like you ain't got any business knowing. Dangerous line you are walking. You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into, and thats a problem for ya... I'm tellin ya all this because you got a cute face. But mainly because its gonna be interestin soon enough."
CaptainShar

06-25-07, 07:16 PM
Very well. For whatever reason, I am glad you care about me.

Girial suddenly looks like the too-young elfchild she is. (She's 107; about 15 in human reckoning.)

Dehney spoke of something he could call only 'the eye.' He said it had blackmailed him into letting the orcs kidnap his daughter; this was supposed to lure rescuers to the orc camp. Now that all this is coming to light, he fears that this same 'eye' will kill him, Sarah, and anyone who learns anything about it.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-26-07, 03:03 AM
Dalag gives Girial a good once over and grins, a chuckle slowly coming from him that grows into a booming laugh.
"He is right. They eye will kill him and theres nothing you can do about it. The orcs... not sure what that was about, but I'm guessin it was a test of sorts. Ya see... you may not know it... but you've gotten yourself put on a list. This list carries the names of enemies... and it is very short. The pages prior to the one you'll be on however is likely covered in names marked with red. Ya pretty much damned em all, they'd have let em go, live normal lives without any more problems. Plenty of other folk out there ya know? But... theres gonna be corpses now. I'm thinkin the orcs will be told to go for your head too... so trust there... noooot gonna happen. Ya see.. you don't seem to get how screwed you are... I do."
CaptainShar

06-26-07, 06:46 PM
Well, will you tell me? What is this eye? How can I protect Sarah and Nedros and myself? And the orcs are working for it? And I haven't told anyone about it besides one man at my guild; you must have noticed how reluctant I was to mention anything to you. And why am I an enemy for trying to rescue a girl?
Skull_of_Shadow

06-26-07, 07:55 PM
"You are not an enemy for rescuing the girl, you are an enemy for trying to expose it. You told me you passed the matter on to the others of your guild, thats very bad. They eye is always watching, it sees things that we cannot. It watches where we cannot go and where we cannot see. It is a thing... and it is not. It is just a rumor, but most feel there is some truth to it. The orcs are not working for it, but they have seen some of it's influence from now and again. The eye has granted them things because it wishes them to succede. The only way to escape it is to do as it asks, but I doubt you'd like to do that. Sarah and Nedros won't live very long unless some reperation is made... something is done to stop this information you are going to release far before it's time."
Dalag walks over to Girial and reaches out quickly, running a hand through her hair.
"Wondered what it felt like, looked nice and shiney, but feels like normal hair... oh right, your life, sorry. Are you willing to attempt some sort of reperations? What would you be willing to do to save your life, and the lives of those two you've doomed?"
Dalag smiles and leans his back against a larger tombstone, his eyes never leaving Girial's as he watches her and awaits her response.
CaptainShar

That depends upon the purpose of 'the eye,' and the nature of the request. I cannot think something so quick to kill could be up to any good; I will not do anything to further the purposes of some lurking evil simply to save myself. For the sake of the others; well, I would like to hear what a demand might be before I decide.

But, you seem to know: what is the purpose of the eye, that is so necessary to be hidden?

Girial eyes him cautiously, but stays, as he seems to be the only source of information at the moment.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-28-07, 02:30 AM
"The purpose? Hard to say. It want's something, but I can't be sure what exactly. It has it's own goals but I doubt they'd tell ya what those goals are. The demand you'll need ta wait on, first ya gotta agree to listenin, then you'll find out what this deal would be. It his hidden because that is what it wishes to be. I don't have those answers. So you'll be wantin ta hear the demands then?"
CaptainShar

06-28-07, 04:13 PM
I am almost certain that I will not comply, but I would still like to hear the demand, yes. And also why you would know what it would be.
Skull_of_Shadow

06-29-07, 12:09 PM
"I don't. You just had to agree to hear them, they'll contact ya. Good luck with that. Ya might not have much choice in the matter here, but ya can always decide for yourself. Well, I'll be takin my leave here, again... good luck."
Dalag strides back over to his horse and mounts up, stretching out a little bit in the saddle.

Thanks...

Girial rises above the city once more, searching for a Temple of Tephana in which she may perhaps find some peace.
CaptainShar

07-01-07, 02:39 PM
Girial enters a Temple of Tephana and kneels in quiet prayer, looking rather distressed.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-02-07, 12:37 PM
The 'temple' is rather small and little more than the size of a house. The priestess within looks toward Girial as she enters, watching her and approaching slowly.
"What is the matter child, are you troubled?"
CaptainShar

07-02-07, 07:00 PM
Girial looks up at her.

I don't know what to do.

She unfolds from the kneeling position to sit on the floor.

I've made a promise to some outlaws, but I've just learned that they might be trying to kill me despite their part of the deal. But they will definitely try to kill me if I don't keep my word and go back to them.

And I was only trying to keep the law, but I think I've landed some citizens in a lot of trouble. I also think I should stay here and try to guard them from what I've brought on them.

But if I go back to the outlaws, maybe I can help figure out more about what's hurting the citizens. And they have all of my things, too, including my prayer necklace and the armor my dad gave me before he died.

Girial looks at her earnestly.

I only want to do the right thing, and not get anyone hurt.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-03-07, 05:46 PM
"Unfortunately child, the right choice is often not black and white. Sometimes it seems we must do what we have to do, even if that means breaking our promises. But Tephana teaches us that we must find answers within ourselves. To seek and ask answers from an outside source is to weaken our victory over our own demons. I can offer you comfort, but answers I do not know. Ask the questions if you wish... but to find them inside yourself is the real trick."
CaptainShar

07-03-07, 06:01 PM
Thank you.

Girial leaves, and returns to the Guild of Defenders.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-03-07, 06:06 PM
The defenders there nod and allow Girial to enter, a man at the desk looking up and smiling.
"Ah, back again? What can I do for you?"
CaptainShar

07-03-07, 07:13 PM
*Detect Evil*

I think I need to talk about that letter again. Where are the Dehneys?
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-11-07, 11:54 AM
(None of the folks infront of you are evil)

"They're being held at the moment in a safe place, the daughter insisted on staying with her father, we couldn't seperate the two. Who would you like to speak to about the letter?"
CaptainShar

07-13-07, 01:25 PM
The Guildmaster? Whoever's holding the Dehneys? I'm not really sure.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-16-07, 03:08 PM
"I suppose given the circumstance we can let you speak with the guildmaster on the matter. You can find him up the stairs in the center of the room, head to the back, you'll find him in the room with the tiger's head doors."
CaptainShar

07-16-07, 03:21 PM
Tigerclaw - that makes sense. Thank you for all your help today.

Girial heads upstairs and knocks on the door.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-16-07, 04:14 PM
A gruff loud voice comes from the other side of the door.
"Just a minute!"
A growl and the sound of cracking bones is heard from the other side of the door before it opens. Behind it is a man with a stubbly beard, currently buttoning a well made shirt. He waves to the room behind him.
"Come in."
CaptainShar

07-16-07, 04:22 PM
Girial enters cautiously.

Hello, I - I'm Girial, I believe I sent you a letter at one point, Sir Tigerclaw...the man at the desk sent me up here because of the Dehneys. I think they, and I as well, are in a lot of trouble.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-16-07, 05:30 PM
He rubs his chin, stopping about half way with the shirt and deciding apparently that he didn't care to finish. Sitting down at a table with various specimens of meat on it he leans back on the legs of his chair and looks Girial over.
"Yes, I think you did. Well, why don't you explain to me what sort of trouble you might be talking about. Feel free to come in and have a bite to eat while you're at it. I'm terrible when it comes to hunting and sometimes I over-do it. But, tell me of your woes and lets see what we can do about them."
CaptainShar

07-16-07, 09:31 PM
Girial sits and starts pulling some meat off a bone and eating it.

I may as well go straight to the point - have you heard of some secret that calls itself "The Eye"?
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-16-07, 10:04 PM
Almost choking on his meat, Tigerclaw coughs and beats his chest a few times. He coughs and clears his throat, looking at Girial with a raised eyebrow.
"You... didn't just say the eye did you?"
CaptainShar

07-16-07, 10:12 PM
Girial sighs.

Yes, I did. Well, apparently you've heard of it and you're not dead! That's some hope...

Her voice becomes steady again.

Dehney was blackmailed by this entity into letting the orcs kidnap his daughter, in order to lure rescuers out to Shadow Watch. Unfortunately, the orcs had some allies, they were too strong, and I was captured by their camp. I was set loose as a messenger, and was able to get Sarah back, eventually learning of Dehney's conspiracy in the matter. Unfortunately, I learned of his dire plight only after I took steps to expose the matter, thinking perhaps he had some more evil motive for arranging the kidnapping. Since then, all I've been told is that the eye hates anyone knowing about it, and I will likely now be contacted with a similar piece of blackmail myself. Dalag of the Ordered Chaos told me this; I did not want to mention anything about it, but he seemed to know already.

So now I've come to you, to see if anything can be done to make the Dehneys, and hopefully myself as well, safe from this unknown threat.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-17-07, 03:23 PM
"I believe... there could be something I could do for you... and the Dehney's as well. You say blackmail like it was something that would ruin them, but it is nothing short of threats upon their lives. I cannot tell you much without speaking to the council, but what I can tell you is that the eye is very dangerous. You've gotten yourself in a situation few of us have lived to survive. I only do so because of my status and my skill. Speaking to Dalag was a poor choice, it is my opinion that he is one of their servants, though I cannot be sure. What can we do... well, we will have to see... I am not sure at this moment.."
CaptainShar

07-17-07, 03:33 PM
How can we stay safe until the Council meeting? Since I've gotten them into this mess, at least partly, I'd like to help keep them safe. All my weapons and armor and things are still being held by the orcs, though.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-17-07, 04:28 PM
"I will see to it that some of my own men, picked by hand, will stay with them. Unfortunately with matters of the Hidden Eye, we cannot even trust all of our own. It is a dark thing to say, but it is the truth. Tell me more about these orcs... what is their role in all of this and what do you mean to them?"
CaptainShar

07-17-07, 04:44 PM
You'll think me rather foolish, I offered to turn in my Guild membership for this, but -

I and Dalag rode out to rescue Sarah Dehney. On the way we stopped to aid some citizens who were sorely pressed by some bandits. The others all ran off, and I was nearly killed by a bear. Dalag poured a healing potion down my throat when it was over, and we came back to the city to regroup. We set off again, Dalag bringing two of his kinsmen, and meeting a helpful lizardman along the way. The orcs had made an alliance with some hobgoblins, however, and proved too strong. Again, everyone ran away, so I started to follow suit, but three dozen arrows proved to be too many, and I fell senseless to the ground.

I woke in a pit inside Shadow Watch, where Sarah had been kept for about two weeks with hardly any food. I convinced the head orc, a blood orc, to let me out in exchange for my help in hunting down Dromkarians. I fully intended to keep that promise; the orcs are certainly less than pleasant companions, but I seek to spread Tephana's truth in even the darkest places; as well, I greatly wish to avenge my people on the Dromkarians.

First, however, I was set to the task of collecting Sarah's ransom. On delivering Dehney's note to the orcs I learned that he had intentionally had her kidnapped. So, I delivered the letter to the guild here, hoping to start some legal prosecution against him.

I learned from Dehney that the kidnapping had been arranged in order to lure rescuers to the orcs. Dalag mentioned that the orcs were probably working with the eye, and had perhaps now been ordered to kill me. The blood orc did seem surprised about the business with the Dehneys, however.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-19-07, 03:43 PM
"Perhaps then... I have something to offer this... blood orc. I know more about these dromkarians than most, I also know there are very few of them left in our lands that yet live. But their nature alone is shadowy and it makes them all the more difficult to find and end. However, while they are a great evil and I would like to see them gone from our lands... they are not our biggest threat. The Ordered Chaos is a greater threat, as is the eye of which you speak. The dromkarians do not have the numbers to do any true harm to us... but these others do."
CaptainShar

07-20-07, 01:45 PM
Girial inclines her head.

I will serve wherever you think best. I do not like to break my word, even to such as orcs, but I can see that this new plot is much more of a threat to more people.

If I do not return to the orcs by tomorrow; they will probably never return my things and will perhaps start hunting me down as well. I am willing to accept this threat if you think I will be of service here, however.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-25-07, 11:25 PM
"My suggestion would be to sleep here for the night in the guild's halls. Tomorrow, I shall travel myself to meet these orcs... and to speak with them. Would this be a suitable arrangement for you? Before you say anything, I assure you I have nothing to worry about from them."
CaptainShar

07-25-07, 11:29 PM
Yes, thank you. Although I doubt I will get much sleep, it is safer to stay indoors at night still, when most humans are asleep.

She pauses a moment, looking nervous.

Are you a were-tiger, sir?
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-25-07, 11:39 PM
Tigerclaw cannot help but grin, laughing loudly and dropping a hand on the table. He wipes a tear from his eye and smiles at Girial.
"Most perceptive! I am impressed, it takes most far longer to figure that out."
CaptainShar

07-25-07, 11:43 PM
Girial joins in with a short laugh.

I suppose I'm used to looking for the marks of an odd parentage. My own...

She throws back her cloak, revealing her large wings.

...is not so easy to hide.
Orcy The Green Wonder

07-27-07, 01:53 PM
He grins and nods with a soft chuckle, taking some more meat and eating a bite before commenting.
"Yes, I had been interested when I heard that one of celestial ancestry wished to join us. I thought that surely it would be a wonderful thing to have connection to the celestial realms no matter how small that connection might be."
CaptainShar

07-27-07, 04:46 PM
My mother is an angel, and the reason I was taken from the war to Celestia. My father is an elf. He died, and I have come back to avenge him and all the people of my childhood.

Where is an appropriate place for me to stay tonight? Truth be told, I do not need to sleep, but rest will help me continue to get over my wounds.

A tall figure riding a large (17h) dappled gray that looks to be a draft cross or a draft enters the town at a steady trot. The rider is dressed simply in a long dark brown trench coat that's unbuttoned to show the soft cream tunic belted with a soft leather belt and her leather pants tucked in her knee high well worn leather boots. Her hair is a deep red and is kept in place with a light green scarf. Her saddle is heavy looking and a strung bow is tied behind the saddle. Heavy saddle bags on either side look to be full of goods to sell. Seeing the note "money talks" she scribbles a note at the bottom How can I give you his head if I don't know who you are? She quickly stores her quill and makes sure that the hand writing looks nothing like hers. Then reads the note about bandits. "Tulin what have you done?" she mutters under her breath before rideing toward Glenn's shop.

A mid-hight figure passes through the gates. The hood of her gray cloak pulled back to reveal her long white hair and her dark blue eyes. The large white wolf at her side dares anyone to come close to his companion. "Oh, Lokta, do try to enjoy yourself. We can go hunting later, but, right now I want to see if there is anything here ." She chides the large wolf. She practically skips up to the cloth shop. Lokta puts on a pained expression. "Don't worry, I'm no buying anything for you. I haven't had a decent skirt in ages let alone a dress." She dances up to the counter and asks to see the newest dresses and skirts available.

((Orcy would like to do a headcount on who is still in this game and active. At the moment he knows of one player and it seems Dragonstrife intends to join as well. For his/her (sorry, not sure) sake, Orcy will repeat that this is a game seperate from the guild wars taking place in his campaign world of Ogbanar.
