khyron1144 02-18-07, 12:18 AM	I've been on the Wizards boards for a few years now, so I am someone that remembers things from previous eras of the boards. I am not always quick to catch on to changes. In the old days, some of us created foundations to show our support for an idea and hope that the people at Wizards of the Coast would notice us. I don't believe it has ever worked. Having said that, I feel nothing is wrong with being a little quixotic and championing hopeless causes. I like the mostly extinct 2e campaign setting of Spelljammer. I am aware that it has a good web-based fan community. I also know it was the basis of a Polyhedron minigame in the days of the combined Dungeon/ Polyhedron and has had an article or two in campaign classics issues of Dragon. That said, I am hoping for an official Wizards of the Coast Spelljammer product or two or else it being picked up by a d20 licensee like Ravenloft was. So you're in, Tenzhi? Personally, I have the exact opposite reaction. Giant Space Hamsters and Gnomish Space Marines are fun. I didn't really get Planescape. There's a big city with portals to everywhere and the people use a worse slang than Shadowrun or Vampire. I only played in one Planescape game, though so I may need to find out more before making any real judgment.

Sigil was great, and the slang never bothered me (always reminded me of certain bits of UK speech). But what I liked most about it (other than diTerlizzi's awesome art) was that it was merely a central hub for tooling around the planes. That opens up a slew of mid-high level adventure opportunities as well as allowing for almost any combination of race/class for players without having to shoehorn them into a setting. Plus it used the Great Wheel cosmology, which I enjoy a good deal more than the spacefaring crystal sphere stuff. But even Spelljammer fits into a Planescape campaign with a physical excursion into the Astral plane. And space piracy can be a lot of fun.
Bard-of-all-trades 02-21-07, 01:12 PM	Spelljammer was a GREAT setting. I made it possible to have all the various classes and races in every other setting, yet it wasn't an instantenious thing. You had to travel through the Flow to get from sphere to sphere and even then it took time. I have all the box sets and the few things they put out for Spelljammer and would LOVE to see something for 3.5. I wish to be added to the logue of this honorable foundation.
