| aravilar_holistacia12-23-03, 08:26 PM | I was searching through the D&D forums lately and I was wondering where the old Elf Foundation had run off to. I came to the conclusion it was deleted by the moderators. Welcome to the Elf Foundation, adventurers of the boards. Here, we will be discussing the wonderful topic of the elves, and will be discussing anything and everything in elf-kind. All who wish to talk about elves are welcome here. As you all know, member numbers aren't allowed. However, we can have a member list, which I will post here in the introduction after we regain more of our members. Roleplaying here at the Elf Foundation should be kept to a bare minimum. If you wish, I will make an Elf Foundation roleplaying thread under The Map of the Planes; the moderators have decreed that RP is considered offtopic. If you wish, you may post a link to the Elf Foundation in you signatures. Use the http:// command to format this link. If you do it correctly, it should look like this: Elf Foundation Member (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=153458) -------------------- I want to have a rolecall of all of the old members, and let's try to get more Elves here! @Deepwood: If you ever return to us, DWEA, you'll be glad to know that the Elf Foundation is not dead! | Zollex12-23-03, 09:04 PM | My elves usually treat other races as equals. They know that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Zollex :mage: |
| XunValDorl of HouseKilsek12-23-03, 09:08 PM | My elven characters treat other characters with pity sometimes since they live so long and other races don't. My elves usually have a complex and alien mind. |
| aravilar_holistacia12-27-03, 01:22 AM | :bump: |
| Tenzhi12-27-03, 01:37 AM | On the extremely rare chance that I'm playing an elf, it's likely to be bitter, spiteful, and scarred or disfigured in some manner. |
| Nitasha12-29-03, 03:21 PM | My elf characters tend to be a little pompous. They treat all other races equaly except for dwarves and half-orcs. My elfs dont hate these two races but, for example, they would rather stand than have to sit next to one. As for the other races, they usually take pitty on them because of their short lives. It also depends on the class. If I am playing an elven wizard, I will regard other wizards well no matter what their race is. So it is sort of a combo of race and class. |

Hello everyone *Sneaks up on a few ppl with his now famous cloak of "you-thought-I-was-Gone" that is becoming more famous by the minute so he cant use it on too many ppl any more* Ty ava for making this new thread... ----- Ava ava ava ava.... how many foundations am I in with you? ------ Anyways my elven characters (I make sure of it unless I am playing a gold elf) treat all others with respect until disrespected and dosent judge people on there race or class but rather on there friendlyness. A friendly person can befriend him faster then a rightious cold person could. Now thats my normal everyday Moon ELf Or Wood/wild elf that I would choose to play. However there is one exception...gold elves...I treat gold elves the way they treat everyone else "Elves are the best race and Gold Elves are the best elves. I will really only like certin, provin, non-gold-elf individuals after they truly prove themselves". So only if I were to come across an elf say like ava would I befriend them. -Lord Frostbite Ravenheart. |

| Lina_Inverse02-22-04, 12:12 AM | *gets out hammer*>_> is this really nessasary ugh but since im here might as well post something on topic ive played one elf ever, she was a princess.she thought elves were egotistical and didnt like them.she liked halflings and gnomes more. |
| ShadowRanger02-22-04, 12:18 AM | for me the elves i play can vary greatly, depending on alignment, campaign, and what i feel like, they could be standoffish and aloof, arrogant, or impulsive |
| DeepwoodElvenArcher04-21-04, 02:11 PM | Yeah, having varying characters is much better than having a streotype. For instance, I've played a wood elf ranger who was the nicest guy you could meet; helpful friendly, brave, honest. His son, however, was a complete jerkwad. SO, I like to have varying characters. |
| Legions of the Unknown04-22-04, 11:51 PM | hello all my elves treat eveyone the same except evil ;) i havent posted in a while either :( so a bump for me comeing back :bump: |
| anglar04-23-04, 02:46 AM | Question: What about the Arcane Archer PrC makes it uniquely Elven and Half-Elven? |
| DeepwoodElvenArcher04-24-04, 02:37 PM | In response to your question, mostlikely because the idea of an archer that combines magic in his arrows was invented purley by the elves, and so thusly, the elves only train their own kin in the ways of it. That would be the reason WotC gives, but I mean, it's all realtive. If you really wanted to, you could just chang the requirment for your own campaign. |

| Valis Moonlight05-26-04, 08:54 AM | I feel for you guru7892. I have the same problem, I'm always DMing for my friends. My elven characters attitudes run towards friendly and helpful to other races. Knowing that elves are implicitly better than everyone else, my characters do thier best to educate the lesser races and make them more elf-like. |
| Ouroboros05-27-04, 01:57 PM | There is walking a figure in the elven garden. His bodybuild makes him dwarven. When his white beard and robe move in the wind he pets his spellbook decorated with jade snakes. He looks at the elves that rest in the shadow of the trees. "That's no foundation!" Ouroboros thinks and he walks toward the nearest elf "If i don't do somthing it will change it's name in the elves have nothing to say foundation!" He walks closer and closer until Ouroboros yells "Boe!" The elf is in the top of the tree. "Wel that elf can climb what about the rest, hmmm?" That gives me an idea lets talk about an old elven topic. Should all elves have a racial +2 bonus in climb skills. Ouroboros says no only elves that are scout train in the climbing of trees. |
| Azer Firelord05-30-04, 01:47 AM | Molth Kul stalks his admiral Ourobouros through the strange land full of highly flammable material. Are the dwarves going to war with the elves? More likely to be a peace mission knowing the admiral. Hmm, best not to scare these creatures... Have never played an elf PC. Here, though, are my guidelines for elf Pcs as a DM. Elves are noble, frivolous, long-lived creatures, the best (and most arrogant) of races. They tend towards Chaotic Good, and, on Undar live in forests and seas. They love change in all its forms, and detest underground places, where very little happens. Elves were the upper classes of Altair, dedicated to leisure and intellectual pursuits. As such they acted as individuals, only occasionally making collective decisions.Even when Elves present an organised façade to the outside world, they are individuals internally. As befits nobles, they harbour a healthy disdain for the other creatures in the world, along with a flecibility that can be deceiving. Elves love the sea, for it is wild and vibrant, like them, and even in the deepest forest, an elf can hear the sea’s call. They detest machinery and underground places, as those were the scene of the lower classes. They will tolerate halflings, gnomes, lizardmen, giff and humans, although they do have a tendency to treat them as servants. Elves and Dwarves get along like a house on fire, but they will band together in times of nescessity. Elves reserve their worst feelings for orcoid races, but do not hate them as strongly as the dwarves do. Of course, individual Elves can make their own descisions. Elves are a dying race, their talents insufficient for survival without outside help, and yet they are also very powerful, so they can often compel it from others. Elves do not die of old age, but instead their spirits are placed in ‘arachla’, storage, in their home city, and can be roused in times of great need. There are five main types of elf, High, Grey, Wood, Sea & Drow. The High Elves, those who lived on Altair, are the most arrogant and organised, recognising that in unity is strength. The Grey Elves, those who chose to stay on Undar, are the most morose, thoughtul and kind. They constantly ponder their races tragic history, but are always willing to lend a hand. The Wood Elves are an aloof and mysterious people, tending towards neutrality, and willing to kill to prevent knowledge of their woodland lair |
| Ouroboros06-27-04, 05:02 AM | :fight!: A dwarf wearing full body armor enters the elven grove With a lot of noice (hopefully the elfs are awake now :D question should elfs and halflings regain there bonus (lets say +2) to move silent checks. It would be a idea |
| Ouroboros06-27-04, 11:43 AM | ........ "Well boys I think all the elfs died here we can cut the trees now!" (If this doesn't wake up the elves nothing will) |

I don’t see a lot of detail in the players handbook about the way Elves go into Trance or the nature of Trance itself. Does an elf move around when he is in Trance like a lot of humans do when they are asleep? If I am on a ledge or on a wide branch of a tree, can I go into Trance or is that too precarious? Do you even lie down when you are in Trance? Where can I find more information about the differences between human sleep and elf Trance? |

| Frostbite_Ravenheart08-13-04, 05:00 PM | Interesting story my elven-blooded friends. The majority of my elf-half-elf characters HATE gold elves with a passion, even more so than Dark Elves. I'll never forget a quote a friend of my own said about my H/E Ranger - "He'd bed a Drow before he he'd willing share a city with a Gold Elf." However instead of being outright mean to them, he instead treats each elf like they treat him. If one gold elf treats all other elves like servants - my (usually moon elf, occassionally Wood) will treat that gold elf like HIS servant or even just insult him by questioning them matter alltogether. And so on and so forth. -Frosty |
