| WizO_Catoblepas04-15-04, 07:32 AM | Foundation Board Guidelines As was noted in the New Guidelines for Foundations on the Wizard Community thread, as the moderators on this board, we truly feel that the foundations can provide insightful discussion and contributions to how a subject matter can be addressed. However, it has been noted that some there should be a forum where guests should be allowed to discuss rules while (a) allowing in character role-playing voice and/or (b) in an atmosphere that allows some fraternal bonding. This is what this new Foundation board is all about. However, at the same time, threads on this board will still also need to meet the other requirements of the Code of Conduct. Thus, please note the following changes to how foundation threads will be moderated on the foundation board (note: the below is only valid on the foundation board - the threads will be moderated as normal on all of the other boards): 1. As with the New Guidelines, foundation will not be exclusionary when it comes to membership. Wizards Community actively promotes inclusivity of members into all forums on the boards, except where there is age limit due to board content. Thus, there will be no “black-listing” of new members or “kick out” of an existing member. This is pretty much how most of the foundations run at this time, and thus there should be nothing new here. 2. If you desire, please role-play in character within a thread on the Foundation thread if it helps express your point. 3. If your foundation desires, please issue membership numbers or any other designation for the foundation if it helps instill a fraternal order. Thus, posts such as “Can I join?” and “Sure, here’s the listing of all of the members …” (usually considered Spam posts) will be allowed on this Foundation board. 4. Please keep the majority of all posts on the subject matter of the foundation. The occasional off-topic response will be permitted if the purpose is to build up a sense of comradeship. However, if you wish to mask a completely off-topic thread, please keep in mind that there is “The Rec Room” which would be a more appropriate board for such a thread. 5. Foundations that promote negativity will not be allowed on the boards. For example, foundations such as “The Anti-Foundation Foundation”, “The 3.5 is better than 3.0 Foundation”, “The Pro-Dwarf Slaughtering Foundation” are not allowed. Also, the foundation must deal with WotC products – no “The Professional Football League Foundations”. 6. Each foundation must develop and adhere to a charter – a goal for the foundation. (all “just hanging around” doesn’t count) Possible examples would be that a Kuo-toa Foundation would be “To promote the use of Kuo-toas in the game of Dungeons and Dragons by developing prestige classes, skills, templates, kill combos, unique spells, unique weapon, campaign worlds (communities), and NPCs for Kuo-toas as well as thought-provocative conversation concerning the race.” Keep in mind we noted that the foundation must adhere to the charter as well. They’re not meant to be meaningless words. 7. Keep in mind that the above noted relaxation of the rules only applies to this Foundation board. When posting on the any of the other boards, all threads must abide by all the rules called out on the Code of Conduct. Furthermore, unless otherwise noted above, all other rules in the Code of Conduct apply to the Foundation board as well. The key thing is if you feel you can only post in this new posting style, please post as so here and refrain as posting in this style on the other boards. At the same time, if you don’t like this new posting style, please don’t post such views on the Foundation board. There are several other Wizard Community boards that allow the standard posting style. Note that foundations that do not follow these new guidelines will result with those foundation threads being closed. Continued violations may result in further disciplinary action, which may include official warns and possible loss of screen names. This is your one shot toward making a board like this work. While on the Players Handbook board, some foundations developed some very powerful material and promoted some interesting discussions. Hopefully this type of environment will help promote and accelerate this type of activity. Let’s make this shot count. Best of luck. |
