Well, I just thought that since i couldn't find anyone doing one of these, that i'd found one.

Rping in this thread is allowed, and the guild rules are as follows:

1: Follow the CoC

2: No flaming

3:If you join, put your title into your sig

4: Don't abuse or attempt to find major loopholes in the paladin code, lest ye be struck down by a bolt of lightning.

Purpose:

To show the honor, loyalty, and goodness of paladins

To create optimized paladin builds

To oppose the guid of ultimte darkness

To create magic items/artifacts for paladins

All applications will be sent to the Fortress of Good of DungeonJman, residing in his demiplane.

Update: The gate has finally been connected, now we truly have a connection to goodness.

turalisj- well, sort of. He technically isn't anymore, but since he hasn't said that his membership should be taken down from here, then i won't remove his name.

Impact font means that the char IG is deceased.

I, too, would like to join this guild.

I'll be the future guardian of the Platinum Heaven Gate.

Okay, I'm sorry to ask this, but I'm having a serious problem with this thread, particulary the arguments made by Vestigial Thumb. Currently, he's arguing that a Paladin can sell his sould to an evil demon prince and not lose his status. He's making a pretty damn good argument, too.

He got me to concede once, and I had to step back and realize what I was saying. I don't know if this is the purpose of this guild, but his twists of the paladin's code are not sitting well with me. Any other knowledgeable folks able to lend a hand here?

Yes, one of the points of this guild is to help out in resolving arguments like that. Also, once the plane reaches 10,000 square feet, and we get 10 members, i think we can get the gate.
theotherdraxen

12-13-06, 07:54 PM
Good. I'll have a real job then, and not just be a custodian around this place.

One step at a time, I suppose.

Thanks for helping with that thread. I think some people don't realize that a Code of Honor isn't meant to be looked at analytically: it's meant to uphold something greater. I feel that finding a loophole is one of the most dishonorable things a man can do, as it undermines the system as a whole, and thus assaults what it really means to be a man or woman of honor.

Just my opinion, of course.
DungeonJman

Depends on the situation. Power loopholes can be very annoying, but i can live with them, as opposed to alignment loopholes.
theotherdraxen

12-13-06, 10:39 PM
What's a power loophole?
Talonos

12-13-06, 11:41 PM
Pun pun is a power loophole.

See, this is what happens when you mix in character and out of character discussion in a single thread.

Now, if you'll escuse me, I need to be going. I'm not really a paladin. I just wanted to pop by your guild to say "Hi" to a friend.

Hi. :)

Pun pun is a power loophole.
Ah, okay. So a power loophole is a manipulation of mechanics, whereas an alignment loophole is a manipulation of right and wrong.

I use power loopholes. THF with a lance doesn't make much sense, but it does make for a mean power-attack shock-trooper spirited charge smiting combo.
See, this is what happens when you mix in character and out of character discussion in a single thread.
Yeah, I was referring to codes of honor, the laws of society, and the like, not game rules.

So if we needed someone to sneak into the guild of ultimate evil, you'd be our man?

When I'm in character, I'll try to use blue text, just so people know.

I am the betrayed one, the knight of the shadow's hand and the setting sun. I am the blade of eternity... And I have come to challenge any within this guild to combat.

I'd like to introduce, Norax the knight of destiny. Not realy a paladin, more like a level 20 swordsage.

Er, how would a duel work? I don't exactly have a character sheet for Sir Draxen the Future Guardian (current custodian).

And if we have any shot at competing, then we had better hope to use OneWinged4ngel's Rebalanced Paladin.

An honorable duel would work like this:

The duel is completly nonlethal. Any spells that deal nonlethal damage, and any abilities that realy on lethal damage change for the duration of the duel the using nonlethal damage.
Only melee weapons may be used.

Now...to make a character....

36 point buy
20th level, assuming you don't spend XP to make items.
Standard gold, no unallowed sources.

"How interesting."

The soft words were loud in the surprised silence left in the wake of the intrusion. One hand combed back the unruly mop of short black hair the speaker sported. He seemed as out of place as the dark dressed challenger, wearing only loose homespun white cloth and a few baubles. A broad-bladed short sword hung at his waist, as he sat crosslegged on the chair.

"I would be honored to accept a friendly sparring match, fellow." the vagabond drawled with a smile. "I see you too disdain the entrapments of our brothers, and I wonder how you would fair against my Whirling Steel Style..." Gray eyes studied the other with eagle-like sharpness.

(OOC: Gee, now I have to work out his stats. Monk 11/Paladin 9? Have to see. What are the restricted sources? Dragon magazine is alright? Scratch that, Monk 11/ Paladin 5/ Duelist 4 :D)

I remember seeing Lord of Vain in the GUE, but I didn't know if we were really supposed to view their thread, you know, in character. Is the GUE even in Greyhawk?

If we are allowed, then I'm itching to kick some ass! :fight!:

I'm also a member of the Guild of Pure Good, Council of Archmages, Dragon Foundation, Psionics Foundation, and Pyro's Anyounumous(sp).

So unless some paladin's want a: bronze dragon shaper, elven sorcerer/archmage of snakes, a being of molevolent darkness. and a monk dedicated towards good: all coming after them..... :P

Besides, the IFWG is dead, gone, and even Zombo here has failed to raise it as an undead minion.

Plus, your defenses are mediocre at best. You have very few guards at the front of the door, no traps, and it seems you realy mostly on being situated on a diffrent plane of existence. Any warlord worth his legions of terror would look on any good aligned plane for resistance.
DungeonJman

12-25-06, 07:13 PM
Seems a little conflicting to me, but i guess i'll accept it.

This plane is only a couple of weeks old, (so it can't really be known that well, despite being law and good aligned) which is why not most of the stuff is there. I do have a bunch of spellcasters working to expand it at 1000 ft a week, but growth is mainly slow, with a good number of my cohorts being the guards instead of any actual hired ones yet.
Zombomaniac

12-25-06, 07:23 PM
turalisj Is at least mostly right.

You see DungeonJman I have had several seperate PCs. None of which have been named Zombomaniac. That is my user name not my PC name.

PC wise I have had:
Cazic -Drow Wizard of GoUE (funny story behind that:D )
A young Bronze Dragon - Chaotic Neutral and of the Forest Dwellers Foundation
A Imp -Of the GoUE
Gabriel -Founder of the Cathedral of Light

And a few others.

It is not so much that I am Evil, but that some of my past PCs have been.

If I join here it will of course be with a PC of Good. Maybe a Pali mabye not. Most likely yes.

Also as turalisj siad the IFWG as you think of it is dead. If you want IC stuff you will have to do things like Orcy is in the Legends of the Guilds Sub-thread.

"Dark" in my sigs case does not mean evil, it' a literal quote, as weird as that might seem. I work at night. Having darkvision, it gives me an advantage :P . Also, the "victory of the light, it is the dark that wins" means (oddly enough) that the strongest evil won't save you from justice (I flipped around the usual philosophy there, after all, evil can be snuffed from souls, like a light can be snuffed from burning, but good remains as an underlying force of the world.

I am quite possibly the weirdest good guy ever.

DemonDavyJones

12-27-06, 11:04 AM
It's actually from the book Revenge of The Sith (I should probably put that in my sig), but I'm not using it in that context. It means the above two things I stated, and, because of where it's from, it reminds me never to stray from good, or risk losing love, happiness, friends, and, well, just about everything. It has three meanings, and, despite the fact that it looks gothic, all three remind me to remain on the side of good.

Weird, I know.

I very much doubt that, but as you say.

I realy doubt having a demigod and a god as two of your ancestors is fair.
RAW, there is no benefit to having a demi-god ancestry that I'm aware of (seeing as being a demi-got entitles you to a divine rank of 0, so his kids would either have 0 or no powers at all). Really, I'd say that being a demigod is just a justification for a high-level character to be high-level. You have all the experience of a 6th level paladin, even though you're 15th.

Remember: flavor-text was made to be rewritten.

For one, Hercules slew all of his children. So your character is an impossibility right there. :P

Where are they, how many are there, and what are they? Be they mortal, be they fiend, I shall rend those who assail us in the name of justice all the same.

Further EDIT:
My sheet:

Davy (Last name disowned, he wants none to know who his father was.)
Half-Dragon Half-Fiend (Holy Crap??!?!) human Paladin 20/Fighter 10/ Rogue 5

He's a 42nd lv. encounter, I can post a full stat block if need be.

Turalisj is in the Guild of Ultimate Evil! I am sorry for even going near that horrid place without intention to destroy it, but my instinct told me that he was from there. I sneaked in (logged out and viewed thread as a guest) and saw his name on the list of members! *dumps holy water over self to cleanse the contamination of the Guild off* I got out without attempting to find anything else out, but they seem to be increasing in activity. Now, to seek out that intruder...

An adult bronze dragon enters the room, flicking a claw and sending the weapons of the paladins across the room and lodging into the wall. Around him are various figures, a warforged samurai, an aged elf wizard, and Norax.
Still your blades and your tongues mortals. Yes, I am with the guild of ultimate evil. I am also with the guild of pure good, the council of the archmages, the dragon circle, the merchants guild, and the psionics foundation.
I am with each of those gulds, in my various forms. Within four days I shall test the strength of your guild, and see what the might of the gods' warriors realy is.
He vanished into the shadows, the other figures vanishing with him.

By the way, Turalisj is an Adult Bronze Dragon, with 20 levels of psioni(kineticist), and ten levels of ascended dragon. His power is only outmatched by Sssargoth (and please, feel free to attack him), and Tenzhi. Tenzhi, I believe, has a divine rank of 30 or so, iffrom nothing else than his ego and his age.

(oh crap. I'm only ECL 14, Paladin 10, Aasimar Paragon 3. Earlier last semester I went though a quest to empower myself and got domain paladin and standard paladin abilities...which means I have an additional +4 bonus on craft checks and the ability to turn undead...I'll post my character sheet later, I'm working with some interesting ruleset, my dm is a big fan of 2nd ed and incorporated some stuff into the game...mostly I had to make the class prereqs...oh the only epic thing I can do is craft checks...wow, I feel outclassed)

Akrin looks upon the dragon and listens intently, when he is finished he pulls a pipe from his belt and stuffs it with dried tobbacco.

"I'll be right back, I need a quick smoke" he says sounding tired, "I really need this smoke,"

It's allright man, 14th lv. isn't bad.

*walks out after Phantom*

IC:
Outclassed now you may be, but I see great potential in you. I believe you will have a great role in the events to come, a dark horse showing untapped power. My bones tell me a great assault on this guild may soon come, and if that is so, I shall hold the enemy at the gates untill my last breath is drawn, as I have the ultimate of second winds stashed away in a frozen plain.

Hey, just remember what you are dealing with here. A dragon who is immortal, and powerfull enough to blow half this guild in half. Remember, Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Demon, that post was ooc. And a silly little half-fiend, half-dragon fighter/paly/rouge can't do much to an epic level encounter. But if you want, we can see who will win. But first you need to get through my diffrent characters (aka, incarnations).

You know, I'm not particuarly cowed by the dragon. The PC I'll be using for this is Khel Sen'tai, my archangel, founder of the Shadowbanes, herald of Korad, God of Valor, Justice, and Righteous Fury.

Race: Half-Celestial Human Saint

Rogue 3/Paladin 4/Cleric 1/Shadowbane Inquisitor 10/Skullclan Hunter 3/Shadowdancer 1/Shadowbane Stalker 10/Fist of Raziel 10/Wonderworker 2

He uses disguising magic to keep his celestial appearance minimized, and usually appears as a grizzled man with stubble in black & white armor and a white cloak. Despite all the white he usually wears, he can disappear into the shadows at a moment's notice hanks to Hide in Plain Sight.

ECL 50. And he retrains every time new material is introduced to stay on top of his game.
DemonDavyJones

01-05-07, 09:59 PM
Allright... I'll admit it. I hid my true potential because I didn't know that the members of this guild were so powerful... and while I may not be as strong as Timespike, I'm a lv. 20 pal. lv. 10 ftr. lv 5. rog. for a combined EL of 42. *The figure wearing the green and red robes crouches down and when he comes up, his eyes shine with a light they didn't have before, and his stance seems to say "out of the way"*

Dragon will cry.

How about we use the megaman rules? I send in seven minions, each one nearly as powerfull as you, and you have to be each one in a one on one battle :D
DemonDavyJones

01-05-07, 10:22 PM
That would work great! Now if I can only find my suit...

Personally, I think we should assail your fortress and you should use everything the "1001 things to do if your an evil overlord" (or whatever it's called) thread says not to do! Y'know, healing potions on every guard, gradually increasing minion strength, the whole nine yards!

Its a fun list. Heh.

Outside the guild, Akrin stands smoking his pipe.

"Zues damn dragons, Zues Damnit," he ponders for a moment, "I suddenly feel slightly out of my league. The most impressive thing I can bring to this fight is arrow heads that pierce armor,"

Tenzhi's avatar has a Divine Rank of 19, and is as far as I go towards statting (a not-quite-finished outline of which may be found through my sig if the link still works) him.

But he's not really Evil, either, though he may seem that way sometimes from an elvish point of view.

A war appears inevitable, but we are not yet strong enough. Which is why, of course, I've brought in reinforcements! Leadership FTW! I have at my disposal a 17th level cohort with a 17th level cohort (+6 CHA) and that goes on and on ad infinitum. Of course, ad infinitum would really be unfair, so I settled for 200. Combined, we all have 202 6th level followers, 402 5th level, 604 4th level, 1207 3rd level, 2213 2nd level, and 22135 1st level. *A group of portals open up and masses of men stream out, and smaller "strike team"-esque groups simply appear.* But I am no great general, and so I will give command of an equal part of this army to whoever in this guild wishes for it. Friends, fellow paladins, there stands newly renamed Army of The Platinum Gate.

Try reading the rules for leadership. Each cohort would have to be 3 levels lower than the last. And you can't have leadership for every cohort, since I can just pull out my Army of the Iron Mind.

A 20th level psion/thrallherd with a thrallherd thrall that goes on until level 4. Each one of them has more than 50 believers, who are all either psychic warriors or soulknives.

Now, who do you think woul win? An army with limited reserves, or an army that resupplies thier forces nearly every day?

The sounds of many men and many trumpets are heard. Outside, hundreds of soldiers can be seen in battle formation. Behind them, hundreds more can be seen, dragons of every kind, and half dragons commanding the battallions.
You have your army paladins, and I have mine. Every human, elf, dwarf, and kobold from every villiage within thousands of miles is here, under my direct command. They are not evil, infact some of them are priests of the same gods that you follow. Slay them, and you would be slaying your own kin!
And the dragons here are my personal force. Half dragons, those with any hint of dragon blood within them have come here. For you have something deep within your halls that we want. And we shall take it by whatever means.

Not finished his smoke, Akrin looks upon the assembled forces, mouth agape, pipe falling to the ground. Dropping his head to his hand, Akrin fishes around for his truncheon on his belt.

"Huh, nonlethal fighting...this would be a good time to have Shrubbert around, oh well. This is gonna take a while"

Darn. Stupid leadership rules.
Catapults aim for the archers, wizards, mark your target as the front lines and fireball their asses! On my mark... three... two... one... Unleash helllllll!
*Ten catapults lodge flaming boulders into the heart of the enemy archers, and the wizards fireballs blossom on the front lines.*
I need this now more than ever. *Uses a bracelet of friends and calls a friend of mine, also a 42nd level encounter with Leadership. He appears, and shortly after, so does his army, a veritable legion of lance-armed calvary that charges into the side of the army. The rear guard, a group of wizards, all cast chain lightning at the dragons in the air.* I will hold them. But I need help, NOW! *draws his swords*
turalisj

01-06-07, 03:25 PM
The dragons dive at the cavalry, lifting the siege engines high into the air and sending them into the ranks of the armies. Meanwhile, Turalisj is stopping most of the boulders with a single flick of his fingers, sending them into the cavalry. The psions within the army reply with barrages of energy, cutting into the wizards.
Above the battlefield, large zepplins come out of the clouds, more than a dozen in total. Orbs fall from the zepplins, impacting with the guild castle and exploding.
DemonDavyJones

01-06-07, 03:43 PM
Davy turns on his Chime of Building protecting the guild building from the orbs and other methods of attack.
I can't hold this line forever... I am loathe to call them in, but I must for the sake of the guild. *A large number of small zeppelins seem to simply be there at once, all are black, all have spikes on their prows, and all have battery upon battery of wand-guns on their decks. They take aim at two of the dozen or so zepps on the enemy side, and with fireballs, lightning bolts, and a barrage of other spells, they quickly reduce the zeppelins to nothing more than smoldering ruins, which proptly fall into the heart of the enemy archers.* And now, the twist. *An adult dragon appears from each zeppelin, of every color, they spiral downwards into the fray in the air, scorching, burning, electrifying, and generally making a mess of the enemy dragons.* The die is cast. *The second bombardment of the zeppelins is directed at one target, Turalisj himself.* Should this fail, I have yet one more card to play. Well, technically two, but the second I wil pnly use if all hope would be lost.
turalisj

01-06-07, 06:26 PM
The dragons grappled with the traitors of thier kind. Airships began to appear, massive eldritch cannons upon thier decks. They began to fire at the castle, the shield beginning to fall. Turalisj himself let out a mssive line of electricity, blowing apart the zepplin and frying many of the paladin's army.
My forces span the cosmos. I hav ebeen gathering forces for years, preparing for the day to use them. Now, let me show you my trump cards.

You better believe that's one stinkingly huge army. With a ton of paladins, psions, spellcasters, clerics and many other things that rain good aligned smackdown from the sky. I use Oblivion. Thats a dc100 reflex save for everyone within a 400 mile radius. Failure means complete destruction, with no chance of being raised by raise dead. Success means you take 50d8 damage. The spell does not deal damage to any nonliving things. Oh, and I shape it to exclude my army and any animals.

I was saving that spell for killing Tenzhi and Sssargoth, but you forced me to reveal it.

*kiai surge and charges*

(Pretty obvious that someone would do such a thing, so i've prepared for it, at least for all of the already members of the guild, except yours has been blown up, turalisj, and in truth, i'm pretty sure that if your alignment wasn't evil before, this pretty much alters it. The obliteration of an entire army when it was completely in your power to just stop them.)
turalisj

For one- I saved my own army. I had already taken under my control every sentient being within a thousand miles, so no innocents were harmed. Infact, I practicly saved more lives than were lost by wiping out the army. I did not kill any innocent lives, but ended the lives of soldiers who knew that they might die.

Plus, now I can get that egg of Bahumut that was sitting underneath your castle. :D

And that power drains all of my power points for a week.

Ah crap, we're getting hit by epic encounters?

Sir Draxen armors himself up and emerges onto the scene, charging while a banner unfurls from his lance.
Rally around the flag! Let's get everyone ordered up! All civilians and soldiers back into the stronghold! The rest: action, now!

Sir Draxen: Paladin/Marshal (both rebalanced for extra goodness). Since we seem to be playing high-level here, I guess I'll go Aasimar Paladin 20/Marshal 20, with Special Mount and Crusade Commander. I came on to the scene with minor aura: Defensive Awareness and major aura: Resilient Troops. I was also in the white raven stance: Swarm Tactics (all this was prepared while I was inside and readying myself to enter the field). He just used Order Forged from Chaos to get everyone moving, and is now setting himself (and hopefully everyone else) up for a charge.

At your call, Paladin Supreme.

I do think that A Hero Never Falls is a nice ability, and would work in that case, DungeonJman, without having to pump in 20 levels of Knight to get there.
DungeonJman

01-06-07, 09:25 PM

And considering that i got this period thing from somebody on the Forgotten Freedom (a poster on the continuation thread of the 1001 things that the worst party in eberron is forbidden from doing thread), there's no telling what it could do.

It is clear that this battle will require two if not all four of my aces in the hole. Now, for the first ace, the ace of pure hearts. *Takes out a Cubic Gate and turns it on so that the unfinished Platinum Heaven gate is filled with a gateway to the seventh layer of Celestia. A full legion of planetars marches out, with more to come.* And now for the ace of spades. Spades and spades of undiluted energy. *A second Cubic Gate is opened to the Positive Energy plane, but before it is, it's teleported into just above the enermy army and the Eldritch Cannon. An extended Telekenesis spell turns the gate on and releases the energy of a burst cluster onto the opposing troops. Eldritch cannon, dragons, and troops alike are incinerated by wave after wave of raw power. When the smoke clears, there is a crater the size of Castle Greyhawk, and as deep as the Castle is tall. The overflow of power destroys the gate, but the weapon is used. The damage is caused.* I have but two aces left. The ace of diamonds and the ace of clubs. I doubt I will need either.
Die Karten sind gedreht.
The cards are turned.

Wow, if i had known that we were pure enough to get a gate to Chronias i might have thought about it, except it would've been hard considering that no one who goes there has ever returned due to extreme happiness and fulfillment.

I think that if we can sort this out, and make everything right, we should be able to get the platinum gate, but only if we can bring everyone back to life and return the egg to where it is supposed to be. I will make those followers explain why they stole Bahamut's egg, when i get em raised.

How about it, dragon? It seems nearly everyone of us has a massive number of followers, so no doubt we have more than enough resources to get ressurections for all the lives lost, and the top of our order is more than willing to hand the egg over in exchange for peace. Let us part ways, all things mended and all parties appeased.

Depends on how much we got in the fortress, lets see,

Assuming the wealth ratio of a 60th level char, and that i would probably be best giving away 10%, i'd say about near 40 million gp. Considering possible deals, i could promise you 60 million, but would require you to help us if we ever invaded the GOUE.

I contribute my lyre of building to the task of finishing the gate, and believe the GOUE should be wiped from the face of the multiverse.
DungeonJman

01-06-07, 11:03 PM
Doesn't really work that way. The gate will really only allows easy travel between our demiplane and Mertion. This allows Mertion's traits to seep into our demiplane and it will be easier to conclude transactions with them, but most work will have to be done ourselves. And besides, the gate itself has been done for weeks, the problem is convincing the angels to allow a permanent gate spell to exist. And we can't do this without legal consent.

In addition that diplomacy build would never be allowed in here, because the build relies on the user being Chaotic in addition to being Good.
DemonDavyJones

01-06-07, 11:08 PM
Ah. Well then. I will endeavor to go to the Heavens and formally request a permenant gate. However, it would be helpful if we were to have accomplished something meaningful first.
DungeonJman

01-06-07, 11:12 PM
That's what i was trying to do. The original agreement that i had with them stated that if the demiplane had grown to 1000 ft, which it has by now, and if i got ten members, we'd be considered a strong enough force of good, along with our cohorts that we'd able to get a gate, but considering what happened here, i'm pretty sure that the original agreement has been terminated until such point as we can prove our point.

*sigh* And we just got nine members, before it was officially suspended until further notice.

Suddenly, those who weren't utterly destroyed by Oblivion are fully healed and enveloped in golden protective light. And the Paladin's forces are bolstered by a host of celestial beings.

A little old man is sitting in front of Turalisj smoking a long, thin-stemmed pipe.

"Eh? Don't look at *me* it's not my doing, I just wanted to see the look on your face. It's probably Cuthbert or Heironeus or Divinus or some such. You know you can't expect to directly interfere with mortals in such divine force without some other deities getting involved. That's just not how it works.

"Personally, I'd suggest just taking the offered egg and departing peacefully. Of course, Bahamut wouldn't have let it come here if he didn't want it here for some reason, but I won't interfere with your petty schemes."

As for that build, where was the chaotic requirement? If we swap out a few levels somewhere for some paladin levels and we take the Devoted Performer feat, we have a LG paladin/bard/diplomancer. It'll be lower, yes, but the modifier will still be ridiculously high.

Fine, but you'd have to see if the build would still work. That could get a lot of converts to the side of good, but then people would be right about LG people trying to force their views on others.

I don't have all the splatbooks necessary, and the build would be so cheesy that no sane DM would allow it. I'm pretty happy with a +93 modifier (actually, +97: forgot commanding presence bonus).

Edit: I should probably get myself a +30 competence bonus from a magic item, rasing the mod up to a 123.

Second edit: If I switched back to the old marshal, and used a marshal cohort, I could potentially have +168. On a natural one, I'd get a 159 on a rushed diplomacy check. Granted, this is at level 40...

You know if you're going to make an IC post, you could make some mention of it.

Whenever I post IC, the entirety of the IC portion is italicized to differentiate it from my normal posts (and often has speech in quotations and actions/description outside of quotes). I do try to make it obvious when I'm posting IC.

Which is to say that my post upstream was IC and alleviates at least 1/20th of the burden (being that it raised anyone who made the saving throw and was killed by the damage alone). Were Turalisj a Good deity, you'd think he'd repair the damage he caused, having otherwise got what he was after.
turalisj

01-07-07, 11:29 PM
I will in a bit. I'm only a quasi-diety Tenzhi, can't do massive ressurections. And even then, I'm a psionic demigod, not arcane. Gave up arcane long time ago...

DungeonJman

01-08-07, 01:18 AM
We don't really need a mass resurrection, it just makes the job several hundred times faster. If you wanted to do the bare minimum, then theoretically, you could just ressurect the most powerful cleric that we have here, and have the ressurections filter down the chain, to get everyone. That would only require a scroll of true ressurection. The faster we can get this done, however, the better.

The bronze dragon, several robed figures behin him, appeared with a crackle of electricity. There were six figures in all, each one garbed in a diffrent color, representing the six basic elements.
Allow me to help repair some of that damage that was done. These six here are the alcoloytes of the elements. Each one is powerfull in thier own right. These were my trump cards, my secret weapon that would end you.
Now watch, and see thier abilities.
As he spoke, they spread out evenly into a hexagonal shape. They placed thier hands together, a strange glow eminating from them. Energy shot out in arcs from the six, striking the bodies of each fallen paladin.
It is done. Within a few hours, they shall arise, remembering nothing within 72 hours before thier deaths. To them, the battle, the little skirmish, was nothin but a vague dream.

Well, we were assaulted by some kind of deific copper dragon who wanted an egg. Heironeous intervened, we gave the dragon the egg he wanted, and the dragon ressurrected the lives he destroyed.

Now, we have to repair all of this, but we have more than enough funds to pull it off.

Basically, TuralisJ made a joke here, and got shocked when everyone took him seriously, so he played along and we all got to show off epic-level characters. I'm glad it's over, since it was kind of turning into a cops and robbers deal, but I'll admit it was fun while it lasted.

This was looking really promising. Then everything went dragonball, everyone and their mothers capable of blowing out the sun like a candle. What is wrong with being level 20 or less? I remember when the Guild House used to have some rule saying that player characters should be level 15.

The following is not in character:

Hello, I followed someone's sig over here and am interested in joining the Guild. I posted a similar message on the "lounge" thread, but noticed that that one hadn't been updated in a long time. So, I have a few questions: how involved must one be to participate in the guilds? About how often should one post? Also, I've never played-by-post, or played an epic character before, so I might need a little help. Is this the place for me, or not? Thanks, and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I started making a character, but wanted to ask a few questions before working through all fifteen levels.

If you're talking about the Guild of Paladins, then this is the right place. Just get your character a name and title, and DungeonJman should be by in a bit.

I'm only a 27th (only! hah!) level encounter when I'm not under the effects of a Potion of Epic Awesomeness. I gravitate towards guard duty and the like. However, I am not fleet of foot, nor am I particularly charismatic for a paladin. Everyone has their own role, from any fresh recruit (1st level) to the strongest warriors. Mine is to quitely perform my duty, to defend this guild to my last breath. One thing you may find here CaptainShar, is that we are all equal. All of our lives are of the same importance.

I thank you, kind sir. *Stands comfortably, because even winged centaurs don't like to sit.

My character is up on the new characters thread - I assume it's rather too lengthy to post here.

A powerful centaur stands before you, longsword drawn. Her black hair and wings are tipped with silver, and her hooves strike silver sparks against the stones. Her black eyes betray nothing and no one. Whether she is the daughter of a Centaur and a winged angel, or of a Pegasus and some other blessed creature, few would dare to guess.

Full of cowering civilians, who are now just getting back into their daily lives after the dragon attacked. Captain Shar, the facility is not yet complete, or really repaired, but I would be more than willing to show you around.

It bears mentioning now that I don't really know what the place looks like, and I don't think even DungeonJman has a floorplan. So I can't really offer details, but we can just say that Sir Draxen humbly gives Captain Shar a tour of the unfinished and disheveled Guild of Paladins. :)
DungeonJman

01-25-07, 11:16 PM
*shows up as Sir Draxen is about to give the tour.*

Well, of course it doesn't have a floorplan, it's still in the process of being built. I told you that i'm trying to get the gate up, but we're in a bit of a bad standing with Celestia after the whole escapade, so we're going to need some kind of quest to get back in favor. The new recruits are in, we need all the people we can get, so long as we have proof of your goodness. Turalisj, i guess i can still let you stay, as long as no mistake like this happens again, i can promise that from our side.

OOC:You don't need epic characters, that was just for the big demigod battle thing. I'm usually a 10 paladin/10 kensai (less than some others, i know, but i can't overhaul the rules out of want) with the exception of epic leadership that i managed to find a loophole in to keep it constant after drinking a potion of epic awesomeness for the first time, as long as the guys are only used for non-combat purposes outside of epic levels.

Very well, then. If anyone wishes to come with me, that's fine. (And perhaps you'd like to meet my father? If I'm not mistaken, I heard some speculation on the topic of my parentage.) In either case, has anyone got a teleport spell? Or is the gate still functional, just not approved?

Before I leave, I have been considering a specialization which I would like to present to the guild:

This is one of my first tries at creating something like this, so feel free to critique fully, but don't blame me for making newbie mistakes, please...

Paladin of Grey (10 level Prestige class for Paladins or possibly Clerics)

Requirements: Turn Undead, Knowledge (Religion) 8

Hit Die d10
BAB Full
Fort./Ref./Will Good/Poor/Poor
Skills 6 + Int.
Concentration, Diplomacy, Gather Information, Heal, Hide, Intimidate, Knowledge (Religion), Listen, Move Silently, Sense Motive, Spot

Special Abilities:

1 Smite Evil 1/day, Lay on Hands, Extend Aura of Courage (+5 ft./Grey Pal level)
2 Extra Turning
3 Remove Disease 1/week, At will “Hide from Undead” self only
4 Smite Evil 2/day
5 Improved Turning, Extra Healing
6 Remove Disease 2/week, Holy Smite 1/day
7 Smite Evil 3/day
8 Constant Death Ward
9 Remove Disease 3/week, Channel Lay on Hands
10 Smite Evil 4/day, Smite Evil Undead

All uses of abilities which the paladin also possesses stack with Grey Pal uses.

Constant Death Ward: works as the spell “Death Ward” continuously on self and allies within Aura of Courage, but requires a concentration check to maintain if damage is taken. If Death Ward is not maintained, it requires a standard action to reactivate.

Channel Lay on Hands: Positive Energy from Lay on Hands can be channeled as a ray spell (Disrupt Undead) or through a bludgeoning weapon (Disruption), both of which add 1d6 positive energy to the damage.

Smite Evil Undead: multiply Smite damage against evil-aligned undead by the Grey Pal’s Charisma modifier; multiply by at least 1.

This Prestige class can be taken to Epic levels; simply continue adding uses of Smite Evil and Remove Disease every four and three levels, respectively. Other stacking abilities are gained once every ten levels in the order presented here; for example, Extra Turning can be taken more than once.

I shall come, seeing as it is my responsibility. And as an answer to your question, the problem is that we haven't been allowed to get a gate up, so there is none, although it was once used as the focus point for a gate to Chronias. I believe under the loophole, one of my cohorts can plane shift us, but we should wait until everyone who is going to come says so.

OOC: A paladin has to follow the rules, and since Rule 0 is the path to the dark side, i have to find a different answer.

Understood, sir. However, who will stand in your stead while you are away? I would suggest Lord of Vain, personally, since he is apparently second in command here.
OOC: A paladin has to follow the rules, and since Rule 0 is the path to the dark side, i have to find a different answer.
Wait, a Paladin has to respect legitimate authority, but saying that a Paladin can't take advantage of Rule 0 on account of their CoC is metagaming. Besides, technically the Rebalanced Paladin is a rule 0 creation, but does this make it evil and dark?

On a matter of fairness between the other factions, then yes, but that would be upheld by your own code of fairness, and not your character. Besides, unless they have agreed to do the same (that is, not invoke rule 0), we shall not recieve the benefit of this contract. I don't personally see any reason why we can't use rule 0. *shrugs*

Okay, so for whatever reason, you need to play a Paladin without levels in the class itself. Perhaps your DM thinks the point of playing a Paladin is to bear as much personal suffering as possible, or to be thrown in situations where falling is the only option (we're all familiar with the "Kill the innocent child or a great evil happens!" dillema). Perhaps you want to just agree to disagree on what it means to be a Paladin, but still want to play one when your group doesn't agree with you. Perhaps, even, you want to throw your players for a loop with a Paladin that can lie. For whatever reason, playing a solid, core paladin ends up leaving you shafted, so what you need is the Paladin Simulation:

The purpose of this build is to provide a viable option of playing a flavor-wise D&D Paladin without levels in Paladin itself. This serves to allow people more freedom to play their ideal paladin without arbitrary restrictions imposed or perhaps merely as proof that class and flavor aren't always connected.

Now, to the build:
Race: Human or Half-elf preferably, although I belive any race will do.
1. Cleric
2. Favored Soul
3. Marshal (Iron Will), Minor Aura: Force of Will
4. Duskblade
5. Duskblade
6. Duskblade: Leadership (acquire celestial mount)
7. Legendary Leader

You should use fractional progressions in order to achieve the effect, since this requires a lot of multi-classing to pull-off. Also consider using the Magic Rating variant. Beyond 7th level, I recommend perhaps a couple of levels in fighter or psi-warrior to make up for the normal mounted combat feats a paladin might take.

Anyway, with this build, you are able to simulate:
Hit die: One size lower than the regular paladin (each class offered here gives 1d8), but Improved Toughness can raise your HP up to the same level. Admittedly, regular paladins can take it, too, but this is the best we can do.

BAB: Sadly, your BAB will be lower unless you can get to 8th level cleric. However, in important moments, you'll do fine with this, since BAB isn't always the most important thing. The fractional progressions can ease the pain a little, and some might argue that without them, this build is unplayable.

Saves: Virtually every class offers a good fort save, so you'll keep up with the regular paladin just fine. Divine Grace is covered below.

Aura of Good: regular cleric/favored soul ability.

Detect Evil: with cleric spell

Smite Evil: with the Duskblade Arcane Channeling ability, you can channel divine touch spells that function similarly to smite. If you really want charisma to your attack roll, there's a feat in ToB that lets you do just that versus evil outsiders. Otherwise, other spells work nicely and achieve virtually the same effect.

Divine Grace: This build has specifically been designed to be very 'save heavy'. You should be able to have about as good saves as a paladin, but a few more levels in Favored Soul or Ranger will help bring up your reflex save if you're worried.

Aura of Courage: You simulate this ability and go further with the Marshal's Force of Personality, since now all allies within 60 feet now get to add your charisma bonus to their will saves as an extraordinary ability.
The fearless ability is simulated perfectly with one level in Legendary Leader, which offers fearlessness.

Lay On Hands: You have access to significantly more healing spells, so you can do Lay on Hands and more since you're front-loaded with low-level cures.

Turn Undead: As cleric, so you're a little better, but you might want to make sure you take a number of cleric levels more to keep your turn level on par with the regular paladin.

Special Mount: Acquired with the Leadership feat.

Remove Disease: Spell.

Spellcasting: Your Spellcasting will actually be higher than a regular paladin, and you will likely exceed him in power and versatility in this area.

May I suggest that we purchase a Cubic Gate keyed to the Material Plane and Arcadia, Celestia, Bytopia, Elysium, and Arborea? Then we would be independent of other guilds when trying to resolve these important diplomatic matters. If the Guild lacks the funds, perhaps we could all contribute?

It seems to me that the Paladin Supreme and I are to be the only two questers, the other members of the guild being either away (not posting presently) or resolved to defend the guild in the absence of the Paladin Supreme. If this is so, let us away.

P.S. We are currently on the material plane, correct? And I still haven't figured out if this is a homebrew world or a published world.

Don't feel like touching the undead? Have a hurt friend who's just out of reach? Here's a magic ring that'll solve your problems:

Ring of Positive Energy Channeling:

This silver ring is a nearly solid band, but it has pinprick holes around its entire circumference. When wearing this ring, the user may spend one point of positive energy to send a number of other points of positive energy out in a ray or through a weapon. A Cleric could cast "Cure Light Wounds" through the ring, or a Paladin could cast "Lay on Hands" through the ring. When the ring is activated, and a successful attack with a melee weapon held in the appropriate hand is made, the positive energy can be channeled along with the damage. Alternately, the energy can be sent out as a ray in a ranged touch attack.

Not sure what the price should be - maybe 18,000 gp because it's kind of similar to a Ring of Spell Storing, Minor?

Just assume it's in a world where everything exists and the material plane is infinite.

Erm, DungeonJman said we're in Greyhawk.
DungeonJman

01-30-07, 07:41 AM
But the actual guild is located in a demi-plane, created through the use of genesis spells cast by my cohorts and their cohorts.
CaptainShar

01-31-07, 12:52 AM
I shall retire to make preparations for the trip.

In other words, I most probably won't be on the internet for a few days. So unless this quest gets going by tomorrow morning, just consider me "doing whatever DungeonJman is doing" until I return.
turalisj

02-02-07, 08:31 PM
I've got my character sheet complete. And I have about x5^ hp than CaptainShar's character. And the only way that anyone could get a higher intelligence score than my character is through extensive use of magic items.

Plus, most of the powers I've chosen either deal damage, or change the battlefield layout....

A small figure enters the guild house. Or rather, appears infront of everyone. I'll join this little expedition to Celestia. Where do you want to meet? I've always found Venya an enjoyable visit, very pleasing to the eye.
CaptainShar

02-03-07, 01:07 PM
Ah, but you see, your character has 20 class levels, as well as a hefty level adjustment for being a young adult bronze dragon. My ECL is but 15; being a half-celestial centaur with full centaur racial levels soaks up 10 levels.

I was planning to increase my ECL to 20 after this quest, but perhaps I'll just take all 20 Paladin levels and be an ECL 30 encounter.

But I'm glad you're coming with us.
CaptainShar

02-07-07, 12:22 AM
Turalisj, can you plane shift us?
DemonDavyJones

02-10-07, 09:47 PM
You're going to Celestia, right? In that case... *Cubic gate to Celestia* Have fun. Just watch out. Those angels can be very, very nice. ;)
CaptainShar

02-12-07, 12:06 AM
Thank you, Sir Jones.

*Sir Waken Skydame presses the gate for Celestia and steps through with the Paladin Supreme and the new recruit.*

Note: Yes, I'm still playing a gal. If you watch Battlestar Galactica you know where the "sir" is from. I just like Sir a lot better than Dame as an appellation.
Demonfey

02-14-07, 07:01 PM
Shortly after Waken steps through, another portal opens directly across from the cubic gate. One leading to what seems to be a cave, with the cries of damned souls in the background. Through that portal, one being vaguely familiar to any who were here during the last guild war walks through before it closes. One fey'ri in a long coat, and with a bastard sword strapped to his back, to be more precise, notably with a metal arm. Said fey'ri then pulls out a pair of sunglasses and puts them on.
Guess who's back, kiddies.
And then, for no reason, he :evillaugh .
Sorry, old habit. Been trying to quit.
OOC: if this is an unacceptable use of the invitation, just mention it in the IFWG thread.
turalisj

02-14-07, 07:14 PM
Son of a... Who let this sorry piece of existence in? Turalisj said, a pair of gigantic ectoplasmic figures forming infront of him. Take my advice, kill him while you can.
Demonfey

02-14-07, 07:23 PM
Oh come on, Turalisj, I just managed to bypass Carcerai and what was keeping me there. Let me enjoy some freedom, maybe a good lava pool back at the volcano, clean up the Blue Lizard a bit, maybe...I'm in no real rush to return to the old wars just yet.
DemonDavyJones

Trusting any word he says is digging your own grave... Ah, screw it. I haven't had a well made drowblood wine in a while and all my kegs are in the Blue Lizard. Hurry up and unlock the place... I need something strong to drink.

Look at it this way: If my character could do some good damage to the place, Demonfey's character will bring down all of existance.
Demonfey

02-14-07, 07:38 PM
OOC: Which is why he never takes a direct offensive, only using words and his mind to take on his foes rather than anything offensive.

Knew you'd come around, T. Care to come back as sig bouncer?
turalisj

02-14-07, 07:39 PM
Of course. We need to contact Dyne and get Bob the Fire ele though, otherwise we have no chef.
Demonfey

02-14-07, 07:41 PM
I've got Bob covered, and he was the stove.
Then he remembers the paladin
Right, right...most call me Crowley. If you don't know enough from that alone, look in the CoA records.

Demonfey

02-14-07, 09:52 PM

He definitely registers. Then he notices the pallies
Hm? Oh, just passing through to return to the Guilds. Nostalgia and whatnot. Now, who are all've you?
turalisj

02-14-07, 09:55 PM
Using detect evil on Crowley will blind you, and every descendent you will ever have.

CaptainShar

02-14-07, 10:39 PM
Waken flies out of the gate at great speed, bursting back onto the demiplane.

Attention, I've...

Looking around her, she realizes that everyone is still standing outside.

Hmm, must've run into a time warp with that gate. Anyway, since you're all here, I have spoken with my father and he has presented our petition to the keepers of Celestia. They have agreed to allow us a permanent gate to their fair land, on condition that we keep the gate safely guarded.

Do we have another new recruit there?

She nods towards Demonfey.

I'm gonna level up (a lot) now. If anyone's curious, the changes will shortly appear in the character stats thread.
Demonfey

Demonfey

02-14-07, 11:49 PM

and to the decidedly good centauress
Decidedly not. You lot need opposition, after all. Especially if you're like the old Guild of Pure Good.
turalisj

02-14-07, 11:59 PM
These guys actualy take action. Although, I nearly wiped them out myself with just part of my army. So they might not be much of a challenge.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 12:00 AM
Well, I never said I'd be actually directly opposed to them, now did I? Gotta drum up minions, then I'll just leave Nhyris in charge again. After all, he didn't do too badly last time.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 12:09 AM
Well, I do love a good fight. I'd been helping the celestials ward off a demonic invasion. That's why it startled me to come back and find everything the same here.

But Turalisj, Sir Draxen, Jones, perhaps we should restrain this fellow? He obviously has evil intentions.

Waken moves closer to the fey'ri.

I will grapple. And I'm awfully good at it.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 12:21 AM
Repelling a demonic invasion? Good to hear, the lousy :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: deserve to die.*
As you get closer, you feel the room get even warmer, and he seems to be becoming flame. Looking at his feet shows the ground is melting and deforming under them. And he smirks.
I wouldn't recommend it, if you aren't fireproof.
*He's got issues with demons, if you haven't guessed.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 12:30 AM
OOC: How much fire damage do you deal every round?
Demonfey

02-15-07, 12:36 AM
Only a d6, but that's just to warn people off, really. Always keep a trick or two hidden, and whatnot.
Would you deny an old guild war veteran, and the former leader of four guilds, a small vacation before returning to work?
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 12:39 AM
OOC: If you really didn't want to get hung up, why did you show up in the Guild of Paladins? I can metagame just let you go, but...
Demonfey

02-15-07, 12:43 AM
Easy: what I want and what I say are two separate things. And I want to test your guild's response to potential threats and its resolve the most right now.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 12:57 AM
Fine then.

Waken starts grappling with the fey'ri, the intense heat being completely absorbed by her own fire-and-ice skin.

I have a +46 to grapple and I took Improved Grapple so you don't get an AOO. I'm still in the process of updating my character sheet, so it's not in the stats thread yet.

Having fun yet?
Demonfey

02-15-07, 01:08 AM
Quickly pinned and on the ground, he just begins laughing, before saying
Yes, actually. Been ages since anyone's tried that. What now, kiddo?:D
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 01:17 AM
Hey Sir Draxen, Lord of Vain, have you guards figured out a secure place to hold people yet? I could just hang onto him here indefinitely, but I'd rather not. This guy's kind of fiery, I have no idea what other special tricks he might have up his sleeve.

No offense, sir, but we'd like you to meet the Paladin Supreme before you leave. And just in case you're a caster who can cast without the motions but not without the words...

She covers his mouth with one hand as well.

Grappling is fun.:D
Demonfey

02-15-07, 01:30 AM
He bends his back and neck so far that he easily looks you in the face. Most contortionists would be wincing in pain now.
Hm...no. You see, I have even less reason to like paladins then I do demons, especially considering how they've treated me in the past.
DemonDavyJones

02-15-07, 07:12 AM
*Walks over to the grapple, swords held loosely but ready*

I wonder, what have paladins done to you before, and what did you do to provoke it?
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 07:38 AM
Oh, fine.

She relaxes her grip on his mouth and flips him around so he's standing pretty much upright and facing outward, but still has his arms pinned in hers, and she lightly places a hoof over his feet.

I, too, am interested. I see you are of demonic heritage; but take a closer look at the guy holding the sword there - he is not bound by his past, nor do we consider him to be so. What have Paladins done to wrong you?

Indicates DemonDavyJones.
DemonDavyJones

02-15-07, 08:08 AM
To me? I have never been wronged by a paladin, in fact, years ago, a few rescued me from my former "home" as it were, as they were returning from a mission of some sort. I'd rather not have the ancestors I do, but I do, and having demonic heritage prevents me from being a paladin about as much as having purely human heritage prevents one from being a sociopathic murderer, and there are many of those in every race. If it's allright, I'd rather not talk about what happened in the Abyss to have me warrant rescue, but suffice to say it was enough that I would never think of the path taken by so many of my "sisters" and "brothers" as it were. So, my question remains... Crowley, what caused you to hate paladins so much? Bear in mind that creatures of good tend to be mistrustful towards creatures that are usually evil, at least until they prove themselves. I had to deal with it as well, once.

OOC:
And I'm holding two swords, not one ;).
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 12:25 PM
I was talking to Demonfey, and asking him to look at you while telling his own story, actually, but I'm glad to hear yours as well.
turalisj

02-15-07, 01:32 PM
Oh gods... Here we go.. Turalisj said, taking a swing from the keg of drowblood wine at his side.If anyone needs me, I'll be prepping the medical rooms. You guys will need them with Crowley being here....
Turalisj walked off, headed towards the medical wing of the castle.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 01:37 PM
Oh relax Turalisj, I'm just letting them play around a bit.
And then to Waken
Hm, let's see...ah yes, about half of this when I was just starting out alone and hoping to find a home. I assume you've heard of the kind of paladins that try and kill anything evil, because it registers as evil, or is related to evil by blood?
And he drops the illusion that hides all the scars, wounds, burns, etc. that he usually keeps to himself. They cover virtually every bit of exposed flesh.
Satisfied? Also
He turns to DemonDavyJones' character
You lucky, lucky demonkin. You got someone to save you from the Abyss. Why were you spared having to fight your way out?
theotherdraxen

02-15-07, 04:00 PM
Waken Skydame! Sir Jones! This is not acceptable behavior given the matters at hand!

Now, sir Crowley, I apologize for the brash behavior. I'm sure that once the Paladin Supreme returns, things will be in greater order around here. In the mean time, though, are there specific matters you have with us here?

Let's not have another cops 'n robbers deal like last time. We're all equally capable of drinking potions of Epic Awesomeness and boosting ourselves up to god-killing levels. Hell, if Sir Draxen drinks two, then he'll have a diplomacy modifier of over +150 (with skill mastery) and be able to bring you all under his absolute control for roughly two weeks.

So, in the mean time, can we either assume an equal level of play or otherwise find some way of determing fair play? I can say my character is the Avatar form of Heironeous and transform back into my deific state as an awesome action, followed up by destroying you all utterly as a Pure Good action and still have a full-round action left to sip tea. So, let's play nice, okay?
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 04:08 PM
To Sir Draxen:
What's "at hand"? This guy just popped in here from hell, as far as I can tell, and has declared opposition on the guild. If you insist, I'll let him go, but I'm not hurting him.

Waken relunctantly unhands the fey'ri.

To Crowley:
We can probably do something about those scars, if you wish.

I really am not making up numbers here. A high-level centaur is great at grappling.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 04:13 PM
OOC: But we are playing nice. I haven't struck anyone, haven't used any of his other abilities besides the fire, and I'm currently just talking.
Aw...but I'm just letting them have some fun. I mean, it's not like any of this hurts. I wanted to see how brave your members were, and if there'd be any purpose in trying to offer conflict.
As he says this, he reactivates his normal illusion, returning to his original state, and pats Waken on the head while smiling.
She's shown that unlike the Guild of Pure Good, who were a bunch of holier than thou fools that never acted on anything, you'll actually do something to stop evil. And you won't automatically go for the kill, which I respect in good people.
And in response to Waken
These scars are older than you, kid. Better healers have tried.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 04:16 PM
OOC: OK, point taken. I guess we'll go to the war thread if we want to have an actual fight.

P.S. How tall are you? It might be a tad difficult to pat a 7' 3" gal on the head. (I'm not exactly sure what a fey'ri is.)
Demonfey

02-15-07, 04:28 PM
OOC: probably won't happen for a while, and when it does, will probably be the ECL 15 yuan-ti against you. And he's about 6'3". Not as difficult as you'd think. A fey'ri is a demon/elf hybrid, from Races of Faerun. They are also known as demonfey. Crowley's just taller than the norm.
@Waken:
Seriously, though, you handled that well, kid. Better than the Guild of Pure Good ever did. Hells, they let the Guild of Ultimate Evil scour the land in order to try and smoke them out, and never revealed themselves as the populous suffered.
turalisj

02-15-07, 04:35 PM
Well Draxen, you happen to not have any actualy stats made for your character, unlike Shar and I who do.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 04:51 PM
I have hope for you yet, then. If you value compassion you cannot be completely evil.

To Sir Draxen:

I realize you have been at this guild far longer than I have, and perhaps what is best is for me to let this fellow go without knowing the reason. But, if the reason need not be kept secret, please let me know what is going on! Why we should simply unhand a declared enemy, when we clearly have the advantage of numbers, is beyond my comprehension.

Waken stamps her hoof heavily on the pavement.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 04:59 PM
I never said I was. I just play the part when the world needs villains, and retire when it doesn't. The history of this world is that when there's a balance of heroes and villains, the world is full of life and activity, but when one is more powerful, it slowly withers and dies. I like it too much to leave it to Garyx just yet, Waken.;)
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 05:09 PM
The tendency of evil is toward destruction, not adventure. If good prevailed in the world, there would be much more time for the making of profitable and beautiful things, and contests of honor. As it is, we must spend much of our time simply restoring the world to a liveable status quo, rather than actually contributing to it.

Have you ever been to Arborea? Surely the life there is much preferable to the unthinking hunger of the undead of Gehenna, or the malicious backstabbing of the Hells.

You may be surprised; though I have chosen a more orderly path, I was born in the rioutous joyous chaos of Arborea, to my centaur mother.
DemonDavyJones

02-15-07, 05:17 PM
(To Draxen)My apologies for my behavior, I shouldn't have went with the blades as my first response. Of course, it doesn't seem like it was much of a threat regardless...

(Crowley)Just so you know, I didn't get out without my fair share of fighting, but I would never have made it if a small team of paladins hadn't arrived and killed my supervisor. I would also like to apologize to you for my... rash... behavior earlier. It normally doesn't happen, but a long week of matters outside of the guild plus a few other things caused me to more volatile than usual.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 05:24 PM
Yes actually. But this world isn't supposed to be fashioned into a world of pure good, evil, chaos, or law. For the mortal world, you need evil as much as good, otherwise it just doesn't run right, and eventually falls into stagnation before one of the deities of destruction and rebirth is brought in to let it have a fresh start. Like forests sometimes need to have fires rage through them to restore the soil and return the land to health, good needs evil to destroy before it can rebuild and bring new life.
And to Demon:
But you had help. You lucky demonkin.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 05:30 PM
One need not be evil to prune, prod, or poke people out of complacence. I never said a little danger couldn't be on the menu.

Waken looks around with a gleam in her eye.

I am the aggressive rebalanced paladin, after all.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 05:44 PM
He sighs
You're thinking too...mortal, I guess. You're part immortal, just like me. Maybe not to the same extent, but there's still that portion. Think in the long term, over the course of millenia. The mortal mind thinks that everything'd be better if good took over, because it's good. And that might be true in the short term. But in the long term, things would stagnate, and the people would have no reason to have their society evolve, so nothing would change, or grow. No one would want it to. So people like me have to come in and give the society something to kick start it into changing into something new, for good or for bad. Same goes for if evil was in charge, if you change a few details. They wouldn't want change because it would have been all they'd ever known, and their ancestors had ever known, before you ask.
theotherdraxen

02-15-07, 05:45 PM
You both leapt into battle without even a fawning attempt at negotiation. I may not be an authority figure here, however, I do think it is proper conduct to try to negotiate with even evil powers that come to our doorstep.
OOC: I think that we had best try talking first with them. We've had enough trouble as is, and by 'scolding' you guys, I come off as friendly to the bad guys. Diplomatic tact, and Sir Draxen will hand over an apology after this is over.
Well Draxen, you happen to not have any actualy stats made for your character, unlike Shar and I who do.
Eh? Where do we post these, and what are the rules? I'm just not pro-do-whatever-you-want. Crowley sounds very powerful, but I don't see the grounds on which he stands. If we all post characters with set rules, then sure, I'll do that.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 05:58 PM
Crowley is, in many ways, but he doesn't use it except to travel or to try and get people to back down from open conflict if it'd be too detrimental to the health of all the guilds at that point. Rules are lvl 15, and I'll see if I can find the PC thread again. And don't worry-Crowley's just my set up guy. He sets up the guilds, plays a few mindgames with whoever (such as here), and he lets Nhyris run the serious guilds and entertains at the less serious ones, giving ideas to whichever side comes to him. He never damages anyone outside of Arena challenges, where the loser is always revived afterwards.
Edit: Here's the most recent one. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=470766&page=4) Probably time to make a new one for the pseudo-new version of the IFWG.
In Waken's case, she had an appropriate response, however. Neutralize without causing harm. I've dealt with too many who just talk and never do anything, you see.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 06:25 PM
Sir Draxen?

Waken looks hurt.

Turalisj obviously knew him, and warned us to neutralize him while we still could. You yourself registered him as strongly evil. And he has declared that he himself set up the Guild of Ultimate Evil, and wants to oppose us. And I have been talking to him, if you didn't notice.

I would suggest that we take this argument inside, except that he's still here and we should keep an eye on him.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 06:27 PM
Thasis set up the Guild of Ultimate Evil. I only said I had control of it in his absence. As for how Turalisj knows me, we're both from the old days.

Sorry for the assumption. Certain statements were...misleading, to say the least.

The Council would still recognize me as its leader

Gotta drum up minions, then I'll just leave Nhyris in charge again. After all, he didn't do too badly last time.

OOC: Do whatever you want, Draxen. It would take a lot for me to get mad at anyone in real life. I just don't think, in-character, Waken is going to be too happy that you were purposely belittling her to improve relations with "the evil guys." Even with an apology. Just letting you know now.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 08:51 PM
Oh, the Council comment. It was a reference to the Council of Archmages. I was left in charge of that as well...
On that note, would you care to be the good and law elements of the Children of the Planes? It was a guild dedicated to being a safe haven for any of, shall we say...lineages such as ours.
He then remembers Jones
You're invited too, but you'll probably fall under the same category as me in terms of representatives.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 10:17 PM
If you're all about balance, why aren't you Neutral, Crowley? At least then we evil-sensitive Paladins could look at you without getting headaches.
turalisj

02-15-07, 10:25 PM
Good and evil are misconceptions. There are only believes, and those who uphold their belief. Paladins uphold the belief that those who are stereotyped as evil, such as dragons, goblins, and orcs, are evil and nothing but.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 10:32 PM
Is that what you believe, Turalisj? No matter what other Paladins might think, "Good" is actually good for everybody, and "Evil" is actually bad for everybody. And anyone who has a mind and a will can change - even a demon. Look at DemonDavyJones!

Are you a Paladin, Turalisj, or did you just join our Guild? Because I'd be rather surprised if you could hold that view of Good and Evil and be approved by the gods as a Paladin.
Demonfey

02-15-07, 10:37 PM
Oh, sorry about that. Forgot to activate the dimmer.
He turns a knob on his arm, and the evil aura around him dims to something much more manageable.
To answer your question: I'm a sociopathic demon killer, and I enjoy both that and torturing them far too much for it not to be considered evil. Even though they're demons. I've cut back to only those in the Blood War, though.
He takes out a demon's head, which has been mounted on a plaque that says "Biological Father".
This was quite satisfying, too. Especially eating one of his arms as payback.
turalisj

02-15-07, 10:42 PM
Is that what you believe, Turalisj? No matter what other Paladins might think, "Good" is actually good for everybody, and "Evil" is actually bad for everybody. And anyone who has a mind and a will can change - even a demon. Look at DemonDavyJones!

In a simple sense, no I'm not a paladin. I'm a dragon who has traveled through many planes, gaining knowledge as a shaper. So no, I am no a paladin. However, in one of the dimesions I call home there exists no restrictions on alignment. A paladin is a warrior powered by his beliefs, and those beliefs give him the strength to overcome obstacles which might hold another back.
CaptainShar

02-15-07, 11:47 PM
I just noticed your offer above.

You keep editing your posts after you post them! Grr. Or maybe I'm just blind. Could be that too.

What is involved in being a Child of the Planes?
Demonfey

02-15-07, 11:57 PM
No, I keep editting them shortly after posting them. But that was before anyone was around to read them, I think.
Basically, help me set up a zone, in this case a small country, where beings who're descendents of beings of extraplanar origin, or are from different planes of existence to begin with, like ourselves, are able to have a place where they're the majority population, and a place that would be home. It'd also act as neutral ground for guild negotiations, on the basis that every alignment and element would have physical representation. Maybe on Kings Pyre?
turalisj

02-16-07, 12:07 AM
Sigh... I'll go get my half-celestial warlock... Turalisj said, dissapearing in a ball of ectoplasm.
CaptainShar

02-16-07, 12:10 AM
If the Guild will allow me to accomplish this venture, recognizing that it is to provide a home for the lonely and a peaceful meeting place for all creatures - which are both good ends - than I shall accompany you, and gladly. Where is this Kings Pyre of which you speak?

I don't want to get knocked out of Paladinhood by Association, here. I think that's one of the less useful parts of the Code, but I'm not here to try to get away with stuff.
Demonfey

02-16-07, 12:21 AM
It's a volcanic island off the coast of the main continent. It used to be the location of Pyro's Anonymous.
CaptainShar

02-16-07, 12:26 AM
Should be a good place to grow things.

Actually, I think this project could solve our dilemma. We need not keep Crowley here any longer; but we know what he'll be doing once he leaves - setting up this island. I'll be going with him, and can keep in touch with the Guild from there. If any trouble starts I have as good a chance as anyone of getting away and getting back with reinforcements in time.

Waken stands, looking at the rest of the Paladins.

'night all.:)
Demonfey

02-16-07, 12:29 AM
He ignores the 'keep him here' bit. He's where he wants to be, and nothing has been able to change that otherwise.
Hopefully, this one'll last, too.
Night.
DemonDavyJones

02-16-07, 07:13 AM
I'll be right here if you need me.
Demonfey

02-16-07, 12:55 PM
I have a few preparations to make at the island, so just come through the gate when you're ready.
And he just snaps his fingers, which opens a gate that he walks through. It stays, and will do so until other people go through it.
CaptainShar

02-17-07, 03:24 PM
As no one has raised any objections, and DemonDavyJones supports me, and since Crowley has already been gone for a day, I'm going to follow. Hopefully I'll be back to check in soon.

Waken steps through the gate.
DungeonJman

02-22-07, 09:14 PM
OOC: Once again an indication that i can't leave for more than a week without all Baator breaking loose in one form or another.

Well it's a good thing that this place isn't big enough for sound to travel throughout it or else i'd not know what was going on.

Association with evil isn't a problem, it is often necessary

*looks around for a second*

Am i the only one here who isn't an immortal of some kind or extremely powerful without a Potion of Epic Awesomeness !?
Demonfey

02-22-07, 09:21 PM
Waken doesn't have said potion, though the outsider heritage may give limited immortality. And Crowley actually had a history of pestering the good guilds into activity before the pruning got rid of it. At any rate, I am trying to bring down the uber-ness levels, although that's been a little harder than I thought (looking at epic Kitae, T). And it could've been worse; could've had another mini war.
The portal's still open, if you wish to visit the CotP (stupid thing's jammed...why won't it turn off?)
DungeonJman

02-22-07, 09:31 PM
Maybe a look, but Waken happens to be our representative. Wouldn't want to give any doubt in her abilities by showing up, because history teaches us to do things in the way to least likely harm people, however it may look to one side. Also, not having any outsider blood makes it sort of pointless to go.
Demonfey

02-22-07, 09:37 PM
Actually, she represents good and lawful outsiders, not paladins. And she hasn't checked in recently, and no one's checked there either. So it would make sense for you to check in with her while she's in the presence of a known villain, if only because you don't trust said villain.
After all, Turalisj has validity to his early statement about trusting me; I managed to give the Guild of Ultimate Evil an image better than the one the Guild of Pure Good had.
DungeonJman

02-22-07, 10:00 PM
Maybe, but you know as well as i do, that the island is a haven for planetouched. Having a pure prime on there is sort of contradictory towards its purpose. A law is a law, and we are required to follow the laws, regardless of what may be believed, unless it directly serves the greater good. This is the basic part of the paladin's code, which was wisely set like that, so that if the laws were corrupt we could interfere, but seeing as they are not, then we can't.
Demonfey

02-22-07, 10:06 PM
As I said, to visit. There is no law forbidding primes from visiting, after all. There are currently three on the island at least (Nhyris, Shar, and Kitae's mom). And I did say that it would serve as neutral ground for guild negotiations.
And it would be to ensure the safety of one of your own, currently untested in battle.
DungeonJman

02-22-07, 10:11 PM
Good point. You've convinced me if it were not for one thing.

Everyone's temporarily left to go there, so somebody's got to stay and watch over the guild. I know from experience, because the last 2 times i left this place for more than a couple of days, turalisj mounted the attack and i still think that my cohorts would be rezzing guys if he hadn't brought them back to life, and you came along. No offence meant. And as for combat, DavyJones is there, he's more likely to have an effect than I, but since i can still see what's going on because of the portal you left here, i'll interfere if it gets too out of hand. THough i'd honestly have to go all out, seeing as that i'm normally not much stronger than them.

OOC: It's true, as a part of avoiding the "Holy crud i'm stronger than you" junk, i play a 20th lvl char in the guild, only going to lvl 60 when really, really necessary and i can't trigger the lvl advance all the time.
Demonfey

02-22-07, 10:18 PM
DemonDavyJones actually returned here and left someone weaker, as shown in this post (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=11530680&postcount=79). He just hasn't been active is all.
And at any rate, I wasn't an assault, just a reintroduction, and asked permission in the IFWG meta thread. I didn't do any damage except for slight melting of the ground, and that was two weeks of you being inactive (you hadn't posted since 1/30, my entrance was 2/14). And if you come, then I will have a reason for Nhyris to reform the GoUE, and maybe revitalize both guilds.
Also, considering the standard character level is 15, you'd have no trouble against anything there at all.
DungeonJman

02-22-07, 10:29 PM
Sounds alright, i'll have to revise levels and stuff because i didn't find an epic progression for the rebalanced paladin. Just the way you described it and the thread makes it sound like if i went, then i would be declaring war on the GoUE, and i really do not enjoy being pushed into a war or causing one that could be avoided.
Demonfey

02-22-07, 10:35 PM
Considering it's level 15 anyway, you'd be fine. And it'd be more a reason for the GoUE to make a comeback than a war. As I said, someone has to oppose this lot.
DungeonJman

02-22-07, 10:37 PM
Oh fine, but even accepting that good and evil have to be balanced for the better in the long run, this is a really lousy way to go about doing it.

*sets up a sensor to call him back in case of emergency, regardless even if the portal collapses, then steps through the portal*
turalisj

02-22-07, 10:38 PM
Say DF, perhaps we could see Shiny Lantern around here? :D
Demonfey

02-22-07, 10:41 PM
@turalisj:
He'll be making an appearance eventually. I just want to get some groundwork in to enforce the Guild House.
@DungeonJ:
Understandable, but you have to remember, this forum was made for guild wars.
CaptainShar

02-23-07, 12:39 AM
Waken pokes her head through the gate for a moment, sees that all is well, and returns to the island.
CaptainShar

02-23-07, 06:33 PM
Attention!

Waken waits for whoever is at the Guild of Paladins to gather.

I have a message from the Paladin Supreme:

We've gotten into a war with the GoUE. We're going to have to have more preparation, aka arms build up, training, etc., for this war than the last time we fought.

So pay attention to whatever he tells you.

Waken stays for a few hours, admiring the repaired landscape and the bigger buildings, and sharing a meal with the other Paladins, and then jumps back to King's Pyre.
DemonDavyJones

02-24-07, 09:23 AM
*Sir Jones comes through the gate*

I don't know how I got lost in a two-dimensional portal... What's this about a war?

(The reason I made the new guy is because even without the potion-majig-thing Jones is ECL 27. Fokker is ECL 15, as per the rules. He also will talk like this.)
CaptainShar

02-24-07, 10:10 AM
Not the light green of doom!

(Am I the only one who has an awful time reading that color? This wouldn't be the first time I've hypothesized an insensitivity to green running in my family.)
Demonfey

02-24-07, 02:53 PM
There's been a record of people having issues with certain colors in the past, but they've been rare.
DemonDavyJones

02-24-07, 08:28 PM
If the color's a problem, I can change it. Personally, I have a slight problem reading orange on these boards.

How 'bout this?
theotherdraxen

02-24-07, 10:13 PM
Wow, guess I had best stat out Sir Draxen quick...
DungeonJman

02-24-07, 10:15 PM
Kind of hard for me, better figure out what the 15th level equivalent is.
CaptainShar

02-24-07, 10:41 PM
This green is much better.

I guess I could switch Shar to purple, if the orange is difficult.

Finally getting to see everyone else's stats - that'd be nice.
Rim-Soulfang

02-25-07, 03:11 PM
I had forgotten about the guild (curse my worthless memory), luckily DungeonJman pm:ed me about the war against GoUE.

Posted the incomplete stats for Valden, but I'm wondering if we have to be greyhawk characters?
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 08:02 PM
*looks at watch*

Wow, i wonder what's taking so long. You did talk to them, right Beilt?

Yes sir, they said something about going through a portal made by Crowley.

I guess we'll just have to wait then. You are free to return to whatever it is thatyou were doing.

Thank you sir.

*goes back to his room*
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 08:05 PM
(As soon as Crowley opens the portal)

Waken flies through, dragging Jones and Fokker with her.

All here, sir.
Demonfey

02-26-07, 08:05 PM
The portal opens shortly after that conversation. Crowley sticks his head through.
Okay, we have the right location.
Unless stopped, he walks through.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 08:16 PM
Uh, no offense Crowley, but i'd rather you weren't here for this. As a part of the ceremony, that means having the gate's location shift up the mountain until it reaches Mertion, and we all know what happens when a person who registers as evil gets flooded with holy water from the Silver Sea. In fact, most of you may want an umbrella or something. After that, follow me.

*begins heading to the top level of the guild, where a room is empty save for a giant gate, minus the actual portal that would be used for travel.
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 08:22 PM
I'll tell you if anything exciting happens.

Waken turns her attention to the ceremony.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 08:25 PM
Well, you can stay, if you can provide some protection from the water, but otherwise, the whole floors going to be flooded, so i'd rather you go downstairs at least.
Demonfey

02-26-07, 08:25 PM
Alright.
He leaves the gate open so they can return. Then he has his conversation with Kitae away from it.
DemonDavyJones

02-26-07, 08:35 PM
I'm back!

Jones and Fokker continue their discussion on Roy considering askng one of the daughters of the Lords of Hell on a date, with Jones shooting down various attempts at reasoning out why Roy wouldn't be killed on the first date.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 08:39 PM
Ok, let's get this started.

Oh Lord of the Seven Heavens, by the acts that have been done and will be done for good, please allow us to be shined upon by the glory of the place.

*the gate then shines with a nearly blinding holy light, before a large deluge of water flows in, knocking everyone down onto the floor. It then shifts above the sea, to a bunch of islands within the sea which are in a perpetual summer's night, with silver stars and a moon overhead. A feeling of child-like innocence pervades the room. It then rises to a land in perpetual sunrise, with several extremely large universities in the background. Everyone feels a bit smarter, as this layer is there. From there, it rises to a lush and fertile mountain paradise with perpetual noon, and a feeling of fraternity and love comes to everyone in the room. Next comes a land with a golden, sunlit sky, with monastaries in the background on the mountain. Everyone feels wiser, even Roy. Finally, it arrives at Mertion, and a platinum light fills the room. In the background are ruby domed citadels, and a feeling of heroism fills the room, of both peaceful and martial.*

Sir Draxen, as the gate to the Platinum Heaven has finally been aligned with its proper plane, i now officially pronounce you the Guardian of the Platinum Heaven Gate of the Guild of Paladins, with all the honor and responsibilities that come with it.
DemonDavyJones

02-26-07, 08:46 PM
Jones and Fokker look on, eyes widening.

Beautiful.

Wow, I can see everything clearly now! I'm never using bad pick-up lines again!

You can never have an appropriate dramatic reaction, can you? Wait-did you say "never" "using" and "bad pick-up lines" in the same sentence and in that order?

Incredible. And I thought he was impervious to change on this one.

Nah, I just wanted to see your reaction.

*Sigh* I knew it. Even the gods cannot help this poor man.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 08:47 PM
Well, the effects are only as long as you are in the layer, so he may have actually been wiser for about 3 seconds
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 08:57 PM
Waken smiles, remembering all she learned and lived in Celestia. She admires the beautiful Platinum gate.
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 09:34 PM
The gate's open. How about we have a celebration now!

She looks at DungeonJ poking his head through the other gate.

Is something going on over there?
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 09:36 PM
Nah, Crowley made the gate on this level, so i decided to warn everybody who was there to not go into the light coming out of the gate if they were evil. I guess we could arrange a celebration, although i couldn't do it. I've never really been a one for arranging festivities.
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 09:54 PM
Is there anything festive around here yet? Or is it pretty much just the clear force-wall ground and the stone walls and this gate?
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:00 PM
Well, i think there's a combat room similar to the interior of the domes on Mertion, and a hall of history, detailing the most valorous people to walk the various multiverses, and a reflection room for people to reflect on the coming battles and some other rooms that i can't remember. What exactly were you hoping for?
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 10:06 PM
Can we set up a big table in the Room of Valor, and get some food up here from King's Pyre?
Demonfey

02-26-07, 10:10 PM
Crowley sticks his head in, which begins emitting smoke.
What do you want sent over?
He's put on sunglasses.
Before you say anything, the ears aren't just for show.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:13 PM
Yes, i think we could put a table in there. Oh and Crowley, how do the sunglasses block out the intense holiness which makes the light painful to evildoers?
Demonfey

02-26-07, 10:16 PM
They don't. They just make the bleeding from the eyes much less obvious. Now could you please hurry up the order?
turalisj

02-26-07, 10:21 PM
A cloaked figure stepped through the portal, a pair of dark sunglasses hiding his eyes. He tossed a cloak towards Crowley. These should help. Thier made from the pelts of celestial animals, and block holy energy. Try getting some sunglasses made from Gehenna Glass. Blocks holy energy too.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:24 PM
It's not positive energy, it's holy energy. positive energy is a completely different thing.
Demonfey

02-26-07, 10:25 PM
He smacks Kitae with it.
You idiot! This is holy energy, not positive! Positive energy heals people! Holy energy just hurts evil things!
Kitae probably begins emitting smoke too.
turalisj

02-26-07, 10:26 PM
Who said anything about positive energy?
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:27 PM
Ok, just get the right terms before someone notices.
Demonfey

02-26-07, 10:28 PM
He tosses it back to him.
Unlike you, I can take damage. Why're you over there, anyway? They can smite you over there.
He pulls Kitae back through the gate. Or at least so his arm is poking through.
Now they can't.
turalisj

02-26-07, 10:30 PM
The cloaked figure vanishes as soon as Crowley touches it, flipping off all the paladins.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:30 PM
Hey! Is that really necessary?
Demonfey

02-26-07, 10:33 PM
Watching the image disappear
Should've known.
And to Dungeon
For him, yeah. As to your other argument: So? You should still think about things like that before going through portals. Excuse me a minute.
He pulls his head back out and away, drinking something off screen. He then sticks his head back through, and this time it heals as fast as it burns.
Potion of regeneration.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:39 PM
As he said, there are other methods to keep yourself in the clear. You can take the damage, but exactly why are you protecting yourself in a way that still causes pain?
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 10:39 PM
Fruit, fish, wild boar - that's pretty much what we've got.
Demonfey

02-26-07, 10:45 PM
'Cause it was fast. And I'm probably insane.
And to Waken
Alright. I'll send some of the good citizens your way with the food.
He ducks back through.
DungeonJman

02-26-07, 10:50 PM
*After Crowley goes back through*

*to himself, in a non-audible whisper* Funny, i sort of expected a more profound answer. No matter, i've got other things to worry about.

______

*as the people are coming through with the food*

Thank you, that's it, right this way. Hey. Hey!!! I don't care what you think it means, but unless you want to go on a deep spiritual journey, DO NOT HEAD TOWARDS THE LIGHT!!
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 10:54 PM
Whoa, look out! We've got a big crowd coming through here. Maybe we should have a picnic outside instead?
theotherdraxen

02-26-07, 11:28 PM
Sir Draxen, as the gate to the Platinum Heaven has finally been aligned with its proper plane, i now officially pronounce you the Guardian of the Platinum Heaven Gate of the Guild of Paladins, with all the honor and responsibilities that come with it.

Sir Draxen bows himself in respect before the Paladin Supreme.

I am sorry I am late. My King had called me on a past favor I owed him. Bound by honor, I could not return until I had done exactly as he asked.

If the gate is open, then my ascension is complete. My followers and I will make a vigilant guard on the Gate. I am truly humbled and honored before you all.
turalisj

02-26-07, 11:32 PM
Just before Draxen steps twoards the portal, a black arrow flies through the air and strikes him in the back, sending him to a random dimension. :D

Let the search for Lord Draxen begin!!!! :P
CaptainShar

02-26-07, 11:33 PM
You're just in time for dinner.

Waken shows him the bustling crowds preparing the food.

Welcome back. A lot has happened while you were away...

She proceeds to tell him what he can read in the Paladin and Planes threads.
Demonfey

02-26-07, 11:34 PM
And unsurprisingly, everyone ignores that arrow, including Draxen.
CaptainShar

02-27-07, 11:53 AM
Waken wakes up the next morning, and starts getting all the visitors from the night before awake.

Good morning! Anyone who wants to stay here, or join and then come back home, should talk to Sir DungeonJ; great place for Paladins, Knights, aasimars, astral devas, any kind of angel really. Everyone else, let's stop looking like lawn ornaments. The portal's this way, and there's still plenty of work to be done in King's Pyre.

Waken steps back through the portal with her crowd of shiny good people.
Rim-Soulfang

03-01-07, 12:42 PM
A gaunt, middleaged man with short, blond, somewhat curly hair, wearing an armor cowered in shiny red scales and a black cloak enters the guild. He walks past abandoned guardposts and reaches the main hall, looking at the traces of the festivities he wonders: "Where is everyone?"

"Hello! I'm a powerful demon intent on conquering this pitiful world, is there no man, woman, child or beast that will stand in my way?" He shouts.
CaptainShar

03-01-07, 01:29 PM
OOC: There's at least two people here, Sir Draxen and Sir DungeonJ. So no running amok while they're not posting.
Rim-Soulfang

03-01-07, 02:24 PM
OOC: That would actually be my paladin character arriving, scaring people sleeping under tables with a hangover, or whatever the other paladins are currently doing.
Demonfey

03-01-07, 03:29 PM
And a demon/elf hybrid sticks his head through a portal, leading to an island.
You'll have to get in line behind Droga, kid. He got dibs on it from a while ago.
He then remembers about the portal. He tries to cover his eyes, but is, alas, too late.:mymy: :gah:
GAH! MY EYES! MY POOR, USELESS EYES!
He reels back as the light from Celestia burns his retinas. From beyond the portal, you hear
Why did I have to forget my shades?
DungeonJman

03-01-07, 04:45 PM
Okkkkk. Anyway, Sir Valden, there honestly has to be a better to get everyone's attention.
Rim-Soulfang

03-01-07, 04:54 PM
"You think, your supremacy? I even managed to get the attention of that... Uh, fiendspawn, or whatever he was. Anyway, I would have arrived earlier, had I not been held up by a slight brush with death. Looks like I missed some major event, did we win the war already?"
DungeonJman

03-01-07, 05:38 PM
Not even close, i'm afraid. It hasn't even really started yet. And Crowley is trying his hardest to not be evil, although the light from the gate to Mertion still burns for him.
CaptainShar

03-02-07, 09:00 PM
Shar pokes her head into the Guild of Paladins:

In the name of giving everyone a fair chance, you might want to be thinking of an export so you can earn some money. Also, in the name of giving me more cargo. Just to let you know, Nhyris is already exporting stone and iron.
Rim-Soulfang

03-03-07, 07:40 AM
@Dungeon:
"So that's what it was? Ouch."
DungeonJman

03-03-07, 10:40 PM
@Shar:

We don't really export things, considering this is a demi-plane, and we do have enough in storage as it is. But if things get really bad, we do have a possible export, but i'd rather use it as a last resort, seeing as it would destablize its value.
Demonfey

03-03-07, 10:57 PM
You should still have a place on the mortal plane. That way, you have a connection to Tyranor and actually hear about stuff from sources besides those on the island. And get money exporting goods.
DungeonJman

03-03-07, 11:04 PM
You want me to destabilize the adamantine market?
Demonfey

03-03-07, 11:08 PM
There's a list of territories and goods for each somewhere...so no need to destabalize any economies.
DungeonJman

03-03-07, 11:11 PM
It wouldn't matter. I've got a stinking demi-plane of adamantine 1/5 the size of the size of the guild. By now i think this place is a couple of thousand feet in every direction, so the metal in there would flatten adamantine economies all over the map if i was to sell it all. Imagine if it were gold or silver instead. Actually, doing that for silver and cold iron wouldn't be such a bad idea....

Anyway, it's not like i could sell a lot at a time due to the price, somewhere between
125-200 gp a pound or something.
theotherdraxen

03-03-07, 11:19 PM
Where did your character get this demiplane of adamantine?
Demonfey

03-03-07, 11:24 PM
No offworld exports.
Also, Draxen brings up a good point. Where the hell does the GoP keep getting all this stuff?
DungeonJman

03-03-07, 11:25 PM
This begins a long story:

Once, when I was travelling on a prime world, i heard of a wizard who had built up an entire trading empire on platinum, and so i decided to see if the man was getting his extremely large supply via supernatural means. When i arrived at his palace, the place was covered, and i mean covered in platinum, enough that if you shone a light at the walls, you'd blind yourself from seeing it come back in every direction. When asked about his source, the man refused to tell the secret, but i found out through a worker of his that he created a demi-plane of platinum and kept expanding it every week. He then just hired people to mine it for him, and kept selling it, increasing it, hiring more people, and some to increase the plane more. So then after seeing this, i thought i'd incorporate it into our system as an emergency supply of funds. So every 2 weeks, i have one of the spell casters expand the adamantine demi-plane instead of the guild.

So as you see, even having a normal cohort for 20th level without the epic junk, this still works, albeit at a much slower rate, just the constant application of the Genesis spell over and over again. Of course he has a thought bottle to regain xp, otherwise it wouldn't work.

Side Note: This was inspired by a guy who actually did use this in a campaign and mentioned it on the boards somewhere.
Demonfey

03-03-07, 11:33 PM
So in other words, you're pulling a Sil, in having infinite cash, power, and space.
Guild rules from the previous version that worked well for strongholds, until the game died from waiting for the next version: 1,000,000 gold for general guild things (defenses, buildings, vehicles for the guild, etc), a territory on the continent, and any resources from that territory, which are the only thing you get to sell. The GoUE has already been set up with those rules, their territory Deeping Quarry, their guild house a number of ships and a wyvern effigy, and their exports iron and stone, as were listed. You can keep the demiplane, and even the portal, but they aren't at all IG til you pay for them.
DungeonJman

03-03-07, 11:35 PM
Why do you think i haven't mentioned it before then?

The portal isn't actually being used for much, at least so far, beyond morale purposes, the holy damage thing happens to just be because you keep sticking your head on that floor. It's kind of hard to create territory, because the guild doesn't exist on the prime, and so has no resources to export.
Demonfey

03-03-07, 11:37 PM
What, you mean the Paladin's demiplane, your pseudo-epic and epic cohorts, and the portal to heaven? Or the plane of adamantine? Because I was talking about the first list, who would be walled off from actually affecting anything at all, while still being allowed to exist.
CaptainShar

03-03-07, 11:40 PM
Can't we just set up a Hospital and charge a little for healing and removing diseases, and maybe do the same thing with steeds we're doing on King's Pyre? With all these Paladins, someone's gotta have ranks in Handle Animal. Or can anyone make potions of Cure Light? Those you could sell by the barrel-full.
Demonfey

03-03-07, 11:46 PM
Sure. You just need to have someplace that is your territory, after that.
DungeonJman

03-03-07, 11:49 PM
The first list, i'm afraid. The guild itself is set in a demi-plane, the cohorts are occasionally epic, but really shouldn't be, so i can make those changes easily. And the portal to mertion, as of this moment, just looks nice. So the real problem is getting the money for the place to just exist.
CaptainShar

03-03-07, 11:51 PM
Well, I'm going to let the other Paladins decide about all that. I don't need to be keeping track of TWO territories and their economies.
Demonfey

03-03-07, 11:53 PM
Alright. In the mean time, I'd assume you'd live out of the hospital (assuming you went with that idea), until you had sufficient funds for it?
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 12:00 AM
I don't know. As I said; I'll let someone else handle it. Waken's not even here - these are strictly OOC suggestions.
Demonfey

03-04-07, 12:04 AM
Sorry. I'd posted it at the same time you did, and didn't change it to show it was supposed to be at Dungeon.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 12:04 AM
Well, theoretically, if i gave you every material possesion i owned, except the clothes off my back that would be enough, but otherwise i think we'd either have to consult the rest of the guild or temporarily relocate.

What do you mean by two territories?
Demonfey

03-04-07, 12:12 AM
Remember the CotP?
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 12:16 AM
Oh, yeah, didn't realize that question was for me. Since I'm the lawful ruler of King's Pyre, I'm kind of keeping track of the land and the economy over there.

For the Guild of Paladins, I think either you could take care of it, or you could assign it to someone who doesn't have a definite position yet (and is on often enough to keep track of everything).
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 04:01 AM
I think i can take care of it. Now the only problem is finding a way to get all of that money within a relatively fast time period.

*begins thinking*

I may just have to give everything i own up if i can't find another way to save the guild.
DemonDavyJones

03-04-07, 08:01 AM
Jones comes back through the Gate, hearing the conversation about the guild.

Well that's not good...

I have a Daern's (sp?) Instant Fortress for a house on the CotP that I don't really need. I could sell that to start with.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 10:44 AM
A good start, but we still need anothe 945,000 gp after that.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 11:59 AM
Shar pokes her head back in.

I'd consider a loan. I can't loan you the full amount, but I can certainly loan you at least 10,000 gold; if you wait a little longer I can probably loan you more. I seem to have the most liquid cash of anyone at the moment.

And I'll contribute some, but I also need money for over here...
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 12:42 PM
*sighs* Look, i know that you all want to help, but if i can't get a money source of some kind in 3 days, then i'm probably just going to sell nearly everything i have (the fortress makes it so i now would have about 15,000 gp left afterwards.) and just reearn the stuff.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 01:45 PM
You know what, hey, I'm Good, I might as well help out a little. Just take the 10,000 gp.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 01:46 PM
It's kind of hard to accept this, knowing that you probably need it as well, but thank you.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 01:47 PM
If I can get this place up and running now, I'll have another trading stop. And besides, I want this to be a good fight - you can't let Evil get too much of a head start.
DemonDavyJones

03-04-07, 02:04 PM
*snap*

I got it! I'll be right back!
Demonfey

03-04-07, 02:16 PM
To be fair, every guild automatically has 1,000,000 gp given to it. You're currently at 1,010,000 gp with Shar's loan.
DemonDavyJones

03-04-07, 02:19 PM
Oh. Didn't know that.

Nevermind then. I was actually going to have Roy come in and break the economy with Walls of Iron. But then, that wouldn't be very nice.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 03:06 PM
I thought that Shar said it wasn't a loan.

So then, why the heck did you make us go through all of that if we could just pay the million?
Demonfey

03-04-07, 03:10 PM
As for the matter of Shar giving you money, you know what I meant. And at any rate, I told you you could. But I said if you wanted to gain more funds, you needed a business. The GoUE is already quite profittable, and has numerous aircraft form its guild, and two seacraft. You still need a place to be on the map, but there could be a portal leading to here if you have enough.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 03:26 PM
Well, Waken probably knows more about a good buisness and locations than i do, so she's probably in charge of that. Why else do you think i put this place on a demi-plane? I'm not a real estate person.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 03:29 PM
I just said that I am NOT interested in running two economies here. I guess I could do this one if Demonfey takes over the Children of the Planes, but he's got the Guild of Ultimate Evil too. Can't you do it, or find someone to do it, who's not in charge of one of the other places? Maybe? :)
Demonfey

03-04-07, 03:31 PM
Yeah, come on. Give CaptainShar a break.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 04:54 PM
No, I MEANT the CoTP economy. This one won't be a problem, since it has none.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 04:59 PM
Sorry; but wasn't the point to set one up? Otherwise the Guild of Paladins isn't going anywhere.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 05:02 PM
Well, it's a demi-plane, it doesn't really have any natural resources. And any refining process that i could think of would also be taken over by another guild or King's Pyre. The seperate demi-plane thing from the demi-plane the GoP is in was made as a way to make profits, although having it be adamantine was a little over the top.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 05:05 PM
So sell something else. I've already suggested healing magic; I bet we would run a hospital better than anyone else.

I don't want the Guild of Paladins to go under, but I also don't have the time to handle its entire economy by myself.

If you don't make any money, you won't be able to afford better weapons and defenses, or hire people, or buy food, or anything.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 05:08 PM
The hospital thing sounds the best so far, that or a training facility.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 05:12 PM
Good then. I suggest you find someone who is willing to make a gate to a nice spot on the coast of Tyranor, and start a hospital and training facilities there. You can probably also grow enough food there to at least feed the guild.
Demonfey

03-04-07, 05:18 PM
Best bet to find someplace is to check the archives. There used to be an area called Peaceful Orchard, if memory serves me correctly.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 06:33 PM
I don't know, i checked the entry for Tyranor back in the archives and i didn't find anything. Although i think the "Peaceful Orchard" that you are referring to is actually a druid grove or something.
Demonfey

03-04-07, 08:07 PM
No, its a territory. It used to be for the Hall of Refuge.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 08:18 PM
I may be able to confirm that, but the guild map is too darn small to find anything.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 08:46 PM
If Draxen's agreeable, why doesn't he take care of the economy of the Guild?
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 08:48 PM
It's not his problem. I'm willing to take care of the economy, i just didn't think of using a non-physical substance as the basis.
CaptainShar

03-04-07, 08:55 PM
OK. Great then. :)
theotherdraxen

03-04-07, 09:40 PM
I'm always willing to fork over followers for the cause if we need. Granted, I'd have to have Sir Draxen contrive some way to track down the right followers, and he doesn't have any ranks in Gather Information, but it's still quite workable.
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 09:48 PM
Well, i have to go find the actual building where this hospital is supposed to be located. If anyone who's not involved in anything wishes to join me, speak now.
Demonfey

03-04-07, 09:51 PM
A small construct...thing pops up.
Oh! Oh! Me! Can I help? Please? I can build!
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 09:58 PM
Sure, we're probably going to need all the help we can get. Only problem is...
*looks at the map of Tyranor*

...

I have no idea where the heck i'm going.
Demonfey

03-04-07, 10:02 PM
An' why's that a problem?
DungeonJman

03-04-07, 10:17 PM
Because in order to honor the people who first thought of this idea, although our cause won't be as noble, since we have to charge money for this a lot more times than they did, we're establishing this hospital/healing potion shop in the building of the original Hall of Refuge.

I just wish that i could bring my cohort and followers, but they all have to maintain the guild.
DungeonJman

03-07-07, 12:41 PM
*comes through a portal*

Alright, in order to get a stable means of profit besides the hospital, since that isn't stable, i have to go to Bytopia and do work for a trade secret of the gnomish orchards. I'm gonna need some help though, because they're probably gonna make me guard against really, really high-power monsters for a week or something. So, who's in?
CaptainShar

03-07-07, 01:32 PM
I am! Just call through the portal when you have enough people to get going.
Rim-Soulfang

03-07-07, 02:44 PM
"Of course, sir. My sword is at your disposal." Valden puts his hand on the pommel.
CaptainShar

03-07-07, 03:25 PM
Undead Paladin

The comments when Zombomaniac first joined the Guild got me thinking...what if a sentient, good Undead wanted to become a Paladin? So, here are the tweaks:

The Undead Paladin does not gain Lay on Hands or Remove Disease as class abilities. Instead, the Undead Paladin is always immune to his/her own Turning, gains Turn Resistance +1 for every Paladin level, and becomes totally immune to Rebuking at Level 20. (Turning is usually the realm of the good, and Rebuking the realm of the evil, so the Paladin would still possibly suffer ill effects from his/her own side, but would never have to suffer command by an evil person.)

What do you think?
turalisj

03-07-07, 10:27 PM
The large draconic head that appeared at King's Pyre spun into existence. It looked around grimly, waiting for the paladin's to gather.
CaptainShar

03-07-07, 10:32 PM
Methinks all the Paladins, except Rim-Soulfang's, are at King's Pyre for some reason. I don't know why, except that maybe it's prettier there.
Rim-Soulfang

03-08-07, 01:43 PM
@turalisj
"What in heavens name? Who are you, what are you doing here?"
CaptainShar

03-08-07, 01:56 PM
(Psst. He's a member of the guild.)
turalisj

03-08-07, 04:03 PM
Ah, that's right, you haven't seen me in my true form have you? The floating dragon head said, sighing. I'm a member of this guild, although I honestly don't know why...
DungeonJman

03-08-07, 10:08 PM
*through the portal*

I believe that you mentioned the reason before, although i can take it down if you want.
Demonfey

04-04-07, 09:48 PM
While everyone else is fighting the kraken, Shiny wandered off. Somehow, he got here.
Hello? Anyone here?
He looks around. Then he plays the echo game for a while before taking out the rod of wonder again.:D
DungeonJman

04-12-07, 10:59 PM
OOC: Hey, i'm back, i know that you guys are still fighting against the Kraken, and i don't have the time to get anything (even the stupid char sheet, which i haven't gotten around to yet). But just notifying that i'm here.

IC: Hey, Shiny. Uh, exactly what are you doing with that rod of wonder?
Demonfey

04-12-07, 11:05 PM
Unfortunately, by now, the guild's now random colors, has numerous scorch marks, has a new lawn inside, a sphere of darkness is around, he's blue, covered in small branches, invisible, there's a random elephant in a room, which is purple, parts of the building are ethereal, and there are lots of gems all over. He looks around, and hides the wand behind his back.
Nuthin'.
DungeonJman

04-12-07, 11:09 PM
*sighs*

Well, i guess i'd better get some guys to fix this. Beilt!

Beilt: Oh, not again!

Sorry, but i can't use spells for reclaiming parts of the guild from other planes, otherwise, i would! And get a couple of other guys too. Uchhh. How are we gonna get that Sphere out of here?

*Meanwhile, he's looking worryingly at a scrying orb*
Demonfey

04-12-07, 11:13 PM
Confetti!
It pops.
What'cha watching?
DungeonJman

04-12-07, 11:14 PM
OOC: What pops?
Demonfey

04-12-07, 11:15 PM
The sphere of darkness.
DungeonJman

04-12-07, 11:17 PM
Oh, a little of everything, some worrying things are brewing though, although i can't do anything right now.
Demonfey

04-16-07, 09:38 PM
He looks in, and sees the image at the GoUE.
Can I poke him with a stick?
He takes a stick and pokes at it. Surprisingly, it actually goes through and pokes the guy in the head.
What the Hell?
He continues poking the monk in the head until the monk snaps the stick.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 08:50 PM
Ah crud. Wait, how was that even possible? It shouldn't be able to do that. Gotta warn Dalion at some point. Unfortunately, if i act immediately, then the jig is up. I have to act very carfully on this one.
Demonfey

04-19-07, 09:44 PM
Really? I didn't know that.
Shiny pokes the monk again, before losing interest. Then the voice echoes around you.
It already is. Word of advice, little paladin: Don't interfere. This only involves the weakling.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 09:46 PM
Wait, how are you in here without being affected by the place?

(OOC: the light)
Demonfey

04-19-07, 09:50 PM
(You'll find out soon enough.)
Why should I tell you? You didn't say please.
You can just tell from the voice that the speaker's smiling.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 10:16 PM
Oh i get it, you aren't really here. You're just projecting your voice or are communicating directly into my head, or are a physical manifestation of the evil within the guild of ultimate evil. And i apologize for the lack of manners.
Demonfey

04-19-07, 10:30 PM
No, I'm here alright. But I accept your apology.
He's right over there. Hi, mr. Not Dalion!
Shiny points to a random part of the room.
How did you...oh. Stupid lifesight goggles...
He comes into sight. He's definitely like Dal, but at the same time, he's not. For starters, he seems to be a full half fiend, with red, feathered wings instead of batlike ones. And he's got horns. Oh, can't forget the third eye, which is currently half open. But besides that, he's similar, if just a lot more powerful than Dal seemed as Crowley. He even has the scar along one eye. He seems a little despondent that he doesn't get to mess with people's heads any more or have a more dramatic entrance later.
Can't believe you ruined my fun like that...Alright, the gist of it is, don't mess with this. Current events show that I need to smack some sense into this little castoff part of me.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 10:34 PM
Oh man, that's even worse. Your either related, or the part he cast off, and somehow sent to the Abyss, turning evil and demonic on its own or something. The latter would be more likely, explaining why you're not writhing in pain or something. And please don't make the stupid "Liar, I cast HIM off" argument if you disagree with what i said.
Demonfey

04-19-07, 10:41 PM
'Fraid I did. I made him 20 or so millenia ago as an experiment. But then he fell into a cliche I can't abide, so I've decided to smack him around a bit. Maybe strip him of his powers except for when it'd be funny, drama killing, or in the Blue Lizard. Stuff like that. You know, like what the kid here did with poking the new guy at the GoUE.
Pats Shiny on the head.
Seriously, who changes like that and so fast for no good reason?
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 10:56 PM
Don't look at me, even i have no idea how that happened.

And as for why Dalion changed, well i have an idea, but i'm not entirely sure, and you wouldn't be able to understand anyway.
Demonfey

04-19-07, 11:03 PM
Oh, I understand the why completely. He is still part of me, after all. But that doesn't make it any less degrading.
As for what the kid did, he's chaotic to the point where he warps reality when it'd be funny or ruin a dramatic moment*.
*in other words, he's an anti-drama device, similar to the Forgotten Freedom's Dramatars.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 11:06 PM
OOC: Don't get me started on those things. I had to whack them away at one point. I think with a very powerful swordsage technique

Degrading? Degrading?! Oh never mind, it is a matter that only mortals are fit to deal with, You immortals can not possibly understand.

(Mirroring how so many outsiders say: this is a planar affair, you mortals can not understand)
Demonfey

04-19-07, 11:18 PM
(I remember reading that. I think it was your link that brought me back here, actually.)
Still part mortal, remember? He's going good to try and be worthy of someone else, who even if he became a verifiable saint, he would be forever denied all chance to show affection due to the decision of gods. I'm stopping this before things go too far and its irrevocable.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 11:25 PM
Believe as you will: the paladin way states that as long as someone is willing to change and not be evil, then they will be accepted. If a celestial fails to accept this, then they have far to go before truly being good. If a deity fails to see this, then he/she is narrow minded.
Demonfey

04-19-07, 11:28 PM
Look, I just know how things are going to go down, alright?
It's been done before, and I don't feel like seeing part of me turn into Michael from the Forgotten Freedom.
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 11:31 PM
Ancient Proverb: The future is certain in nowhere but Mechanus. And even there, things must be unpredictable on one Tuesday in December every 5 cycles.

And for the record, i think Michael reverted back to normal or became a Cuthbertite or something. That isn't going to happen here.

04-19-07, 11:34 PM
(Letter from Waken Skydame)

Honored Paladins:

While in Celestia, I submitted a question to the good gods, and specifically Pelor, my Patron. The question is this: how closely may a Paladin associate with one who is not lawful and good? I am bound by the gods' decision, but I would also like to submit this question to the guild. If nothing else, it should be a good debate.

Waken Skydame, Charger of the Heavens, Chief Messenger of the Guild of Paladins

(OOC: Paladins are only allowed to have LG cohorts, etc. Since marriage is even closer, I would think only LG partners are allowed. But it could be an interesting debate.

Oh, and the issue has already been resolved - conservatively - for RP purposes.)
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-19-07, 11:35 PM
A large, ancient looking half orc rides in on the back of a large black machine. It moves on two wheels and is shaped much like a wolf. He leans it to a side and supports it with his foot as he turns toward Crowalion or whatever this one may be called. Slapping his forehead with his fleshy hand he bangs on the top of his machine with his metal one.
"Another one! How many of you crowleys are there? I swear, I'm going to get a stick and shake it at you crowlians till you all poof! Then I'm going to beat up the smoke! Theres more of you than there are subraces of elves! Now come over here so I can hit you with something heavy without getting up."
Demonfey

04-19-07, 11:36 PM
I'm just temporary. Just let me smack the guy around, then I'm gone.
And to Dungeon
Whatever. I was just dropping by to tell you not to interfere.
turalisj

04-19-07, 11:45 PM
Zik's head floated through the orc's chest, looking upwards at him. And just what is wrong with elves?
DungeonJman

04-19-07, 11:53 PM
FIne, as much as it troubles me not to interfere. Now if you excuse me, i have to write a letter.

*after writing, sends a letter back*

Dear Waken,
Sorry if i have trouble doing this, but this isn't my usual line of work. I know a bunch of lawful good people who spend whole days debating questions on morality using all kinds of loopholes, but i don't. So here goes: Assuming that a paladin may adventure with one who does is not lawful or good, as long as they do not offend their ideals, you would be allowed full association. When questioned about the follower clause, this was resolved by the following argument: Since it only states in the code that followers, henchmen, and cohorts are lawful good, but not associates, it is derived that a paladin's underlings are held to the same standards as the paladin his/herself, as they are his/her representatives and display the influence that he/she has had on people. In short, the answer is association is permitted as long as the associate does not violate your moral code, but all underlings must follow your example. I hope this answers your question, and best wishes.
Paladin Supreme

(Yes, the Paladin Supreme has known about Waken's intentions. In fact, he actually suspected something along those lines would happen from the day that Crowley met Waken (remember the "predict things half the time" thing?). Although he suspected that it would've ended on a more sour note that it did (see, only half right.) I mean, even I, IRL suspected it from that time.

Quick reply, via letter:

Your blessing is appreciated. I await only the blessing of the gods now.

(Which is not forthcoming; I'm assuming the Crowley that's here is going to announce this as soon as the kraken battle is done.)
Demonfey

04-20-07, 12:04 AM
(Yeah.)
Look, if you want to beat on a Crowley, just grab a shovel and follow me, alright? I really am just passing through.
With that, he pulls out a shovel and disappears again.
Where did he go?
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-20-07, 12:18 AM
Orcy pokes Zik in the eyes after applying a ghost-touchesque oil to his metal hand. He then scratches his chin and looks around.
"Wait a second... why am I here again?"
Hitting the back of his head with his fleshy hand he raises a finger.
"Ah! Right!"
The Green Wonder reaches through a hole that... somehow appeared in the air (man, strange old half orc). He pulls out a young orc man who looks quite startled and confused.
"This young man here seems to be looking for a good challenge. So I figured I'd stick him here where you people might be able to set up an honorable duel. Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta get back to riding this thing around before that spikey haired blonde kid catches up to me and gets his butt whooped again. See ya!"
With that Orcy rides off, spinning around and launching himself out the door by going off some sort of ramp that... doesn't appear to exist but worked anyway.

The orc man pulled through a hole in nothing blinks and looks around. He rubs his chin and opens his mouth as if he is about to speak then stops. He looks around and does so once more... stopping yet again. Finally... he shrugs his shoulders and lets them fall.
"I... am very confused."
Demonfey

04-20-07, 12:21 AM
(If he's confused now, just wait til Shiny's through with him.)
New friend! Confetti!
He gets flying tackled from behind by something heavy and metallic that then won't shut up, and if he looks at himself, is now navy blue.
CaptainShar

04-20-07, 12:23 AM
(Happy to provide an honorable duel as soon as we finish up the kraken business.)
CaptainShar

04-20-07, 12:39 AM
(Are you actually going to be on when Waken comes back here, DungeonJ (or other players of Paladins)? I wish the fight was done so she could come back when you're actually on, but no such luck.)
Demonfey

04-20-07, 12:44 AM
(Not to mention the beginnings of a war with the GoUE to be part of.)
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-20-07, 01:05 AM
The orc tumbles with swiftness after being tackled, leaping into the air he runs up... thin air. Moving upwards as if climbing a set of stairs he looks down, his eyes darting around alertly.
"I see... I'm in a madhouse. Well, nothing left to do but fight my way out! Goody... I was hoping for a good fight!"
The orc draws a wide, thin bladed blood red rapier from the sheath at his side. He thrusts it forwards a few times and, were he not wearing a half mask covering his lower face (with holes for his tusks of course) it would seem he smiles.
"Now, who shall be first to challenge me!"
The Orc leaps out of the air and lands on the ground, sweeping his foot out in a circle as if drawing a circle in sand. He hops backwards and takes up a defensive stance, his rapier held out infront of him while he folds his other arm behind his back.
Demonfey

04-20-07, 01:09 AM
And through it all, he still has Shiny on his back. Said little terror then crawls up his back and looks the orc in the eyes.
Hi! I'm Shiny Lantern. I'm a metal kender!
He then tumbles off the orc's head and back, and comes to a stop a few feet away.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-20-07, 02:23 PM
The orc stares at the little thing having sworn he had slipped away from him. He wonders how something so small could hold onto him while giants could not and shakes his head. Raising an eyebrow he keeps his sword leveled and infront of him.
"Metal I can see, but as to what a kender is I have no idea, nor I believe would I want to discover it. I would however suggest that you stay back and away from me. I am not a fan of small things that may or may not be male climbing over me. It is your only warning! Now... what is this horrid place with little metal monsters and WHY am I blue?"

(Kaer-Thok is from Ogbanar, where neither kender nor warforged exist)
DungeonJman

04-20-07, 03:12 PM
He's carrying a rod of wonder. Just hope you don't get butterflies in your face.
Demonfey

04-20-07, 03:30 PM
(Still missing your alignment on Kaer)
This's the guild of paladins! An' what's male?
Then, he notices your shiny blade, and quickly comes over and inspects your sword, as numerous little lenses popping out of random areas of his head and moving to his eyes, letting him get a better appraisal of the whole thing.
Ooo, that's good craftmanship. But I'm not quite familiar with the primary enchantment...
Another voice pipes up.
That'd be blood feeding. It's a fun one.
Then it pauses, apparently realizing something very important, before beginning to scream
OH GODS! THE LIGHT! IT BURNS!
Which causes Shiny to take the source of noise-apparently, a morningstar with a small demonic face at the bottom-and open a compartment in his torso, which he throws the morningstar into. The fact that the torso compartment should be way too small doesn't seem to matter.
Sorry 'bout Common Sense. He doesn't seem to like the pretty light from the portal.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-20-07, 03:33 PM
"So you are telling me that this metallic monster used a rod that could have caused me to explode in a ball of flames and made me blue? Well change me back! I do not appreciate being made green and will not tollerate having that thing pointed at me again! You can't just go around turning people different colors. Now I give you a choice, return me to my much more plesant shade of green or taste my blade!"
The orc slashes out with his blade and goes through a series of thrusts and slashes, bringing it back towards himself he narrows his eyes.

(Do you have detect alignment or something of the sort? He isn't evil if you are worried about the light here. Orcy doesn't like evil characters. He is more of a Lawful Netural. Obeying his own code of honor and laws than anything else.)
Demonfey

04-20-07, 03:49 PM
(No, more just that your character sheet's not done without it.)
The little metallic man gives you an angry look, exactly like the  smiley.
You're mean. You're not my friend any more.
He tries to stick his tongue out at you, only to realize he doesn't have one (though it does give a good view of his razor sharp teeth), before opening his chest compartment and pulling out a mop, which he then uses to remove the navy coloration.
I thought you looked cooler navy.
He then takes out a small object, which he pushes a button on and says into
Note to self: make myself a tongue, so I can stick it out at people...
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-20-07, 04:26 PM
"This... this is the far realms isn't it? I've heard tell of them, but surely this madness can only come from such a place. Disturbing... very disturbing indeed. Well, it seems that there is only a disembodied voice, a shiney... monster... thing, and what I think was the voice of a person but I can't seem to place exactly where it came from. Shouldn't be too hard... I get tackled by a monster that seems to completely ignore the laws of reality. Speak to... someone. And now the monster is angry at me for... not liking it's hideous magical... blue... thing. This... is a madhouse."
The orc man continues to ramble to himself a bit as he watches the kenderforged and surrounding area, in which he has yet to see anyone else. But best to be on the safe side.
Demonfey

04-20-07, 04:31 PM
From inside the chest compartment.
No, that's just Shiny, the single largest source of chaos on the plane.
Shiny opens the compartment and reaches in, pulling out the morningstar to the point where the face can be seen.
I'm Common Sense, Shiny's weapon familiar-slash-accidentally imprisoned devil of possession. In the name of all things unholy, please, sunder the morningstar. I just wanna go home.:weep:
Aw...I know! I'll make you holy again! That should cheer you up!
He pulls out the morningstar and does a little dance, oblivious to the protests from it. It begins screaming again as it glows with holy magic.
AAAGH! IT BURNS!
Shiny puts the weapon back in his chest compartment. Then, the little madman scurries off, to play with the rod of wonder some more.
(Is it a bad thing that I find Shiny easy to write for?)
DungeonJman

04-20-07, 06:18 PM
*DungeonJ sighs (note, i should be in the same room as him*

No, ironically, being a guild of paladins it shouldn't be this crazy. I mean, we've got a gate to a lawful good plane for goodness sake. The voice your hearing is either that thing which created Dalion, that living weapon that Shiny has, or a voice coming from a portal to an island. The shiny metal thing is a living construct, who thinks he's a type of halfling which is chaotic. Once again, since it's a guild of Paladins, the morningstar is right in that he is the most chaotic thing on this demi-plane. That answer your questions?
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-20-07, 10:18 PM
"..."
The Orc glances toward where the crazed kenderforged had just been. He then turns toward the speaker and looks him over. Rubbing his chin and shaking his head.
"Ah, this one's spirit must have gotten loose. I have heard that constructs can go berserk from time to time while the elemental spirit within trys to get out and 'goes nuts' as it were.

A guild of paladins though? Strange, eh... your kind typically serve gods and whatnot rather than guilds. Now I see what the old man meant about finding a duel. You gents are supposed to be strong warriors made stronger by your gods. So, how about it? Any of you interested in testing your mettle against my blade? I wouldn't blame you if you weren't, I wouldn't want to fight me either."
Demonfey

04-21-07, 01:11 AM
Shiny drops down from the ceiling.
Nah. My dad made me just the way I am.
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 01:17 AM
A centaur comes in, still a bit briny smelling, and bows,

Paladin Supreme, I have just returned from an extended...

Oh, Welcome to the Guild of Paladins. How may I be of service?

She gives a sweeping bow to the newcomer.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 01:18 AM
"Joy... its back."
The orc coughs and adjusts his sword belt, his blade still resting in his hand. He slashes and thrusts with his sword infront of him. Cutting through the air with a bored look.
"Ah... greetings... centaur. Service? Well, I'm looking for a good duel if you happen to think you have what it takes to fight me. Of course, most are afraid to do so, and I don't blame them. I'm quite skilled."
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 01:19 AM
Oh, don't mind Shiny. Shiny, why don't you run back to the island? We've just had a big fight and Shar needs to be cheered up. It's a very good story, too.

A Paladin? Afraid? I think not. I have prevailed in all the duels I have fought thus far. Though you have a slight advantage, for you are not evil. I hope you're good at wrestling, though.

I have some unfinished business; may I show you to a room and we may fight on the morrow?

Oh, forgive me, I'm Waken. And you are?
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 01:28 AM
The orc laughs, thrusting forward with his blade and following with an elaborate array of swings and thrusts (for an orc at least).
"Confident, I'll give you that. But you should know that none can compare to the orcish race in combat ability! We shall see I suppose. An you may call me Kaer-Thok. But, If your comment about wrestling and showing me to a room was to be taken as one statement, I'm afraid that... well."
Kaer-Thok shrugs his shoulders and laughs. Raising one eyebrow he brings his sword back to his side, sheathing it for the first time since he was pounced by the kenderforged.
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 01:33 AM
Two statements. Sir.

She leads him out to the courtyard and points up a staircase.

Any room on the third floor should be open. I don't climb stairs when I don't have to.

She takes off and circles lazily above the courtyard.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 01:40 AM
Kaer-Thok looks up and rubs his cloth covered chin. He folds his arms over and walks up the thin air, stopping once level with waken.
"You require rest before a duel?"
He sighs and drops his head, shaking it sadly.
"If I MUST be kept waiting that long. Then I suppose there isn't much choice. I would however prefer not to be made to wait a whole day..."
Demonfey

04-21-07, 01:46 AM
He picks up that Waken's sad, and looks depressed.
Okay. Hope you get happy again soo, nice horsey lady.
He then goes through the portal.
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 02:02 AM
Please leave me, or I sincerely doubt that I will remain civil. You are not the only person I have seen today. I am deeply troubled. Please, go. Forgive me.

As she turns away, her face becomes deeply sorrowful.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 02:09 AM
"Ma'am, since this is our first meeting then I will be civil. But, I would suggest that you do not make threats that you cannot keep. I come from the valley of Dul-Grek. While I understand that you must have had some sort of events earlier today. I suggest you remember that we are honorable orcs, and take our honor seriously. I realize you mean no offense by your words, but informing me that you 'will not remain civil' suggests that I would be 'in trouble' so to speak should you not. Something I highly doubt."
Turning Kaer-Thok walks downward through the air and heads up the steps he was directed towards earlier.
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 02:15 AM
Waken goes to her own room at the Guild.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 02:27 AM
Kear-Thok heads into the room mentioned and closes and locks the door behind him. Sitting on the bed he draws his blade and runs his finger over it. He eventually takes time to rest.
turalisj

04-21-07, 10:30 AM
The dragon head, still floating there, blinked for a second. You know what, screw it. I'll find some other group to help out with the kython problem. It stuck it's tongue out before spinning and dissapearing.
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 10:33 AM
(Hey. That's not quite fair. We waited a good long time for you to start the kythons, and if we did something else in the meantime, that doesn't mean we don't want to do yours now.)

Waken trots into the courtyard the next morning.

A fight will do me some good, I think. You still looking for one, Kaer-Thok?
turalisj

04-21-07, 10:36 AM
If it took over a month just to do the kracken fight, then it will take well over a year to tackle the kythons.
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 10:47 AM
(If you don't want to run it, just say so. But if you are going to run it, you're not allowed to take it away from the Guild of Paladins just yet.

And as for it taking a long time - just make a rule that if someone doesn't post within the day it becomes their turn, they don't get to go that round.)
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 12:16 PM
Kaer-Thok comes down the stairs, walking casually as he comes to the courtyard. He turns toward waken and tips his head in a slight bow. Reaching to his side he draws his sword and swings it through the air a few times. Bringing it around he points it toward Waken.
"Had enough rest for a bit of a duel yet hm?"
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 02:43 PM
Most certainly.

She looks distinctly less waterlogged and pummeled.

What shall be the rules? I confess I prefer to change tactics depending on how the fight goes, so ruling only the use of blades would put me at disadvantage. But I am willing to fight a duel without magic or magic weapons.

(P.S. She's level 16 now; need to update the char. sheet, but the kraken fight gave her enough to level up. That OK with you?)
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 02:49 PM
"Whatever you must do. Of course, I would prefer that we do not fling fireballs back and forth or use those vile mind influencing spells. Though, I doubt you have the capability to use such things being a holy knight. Those are typically used by wizards and whatnot. So, I suppose the battle shall be fought however you need fight it."

(Well... Orcy doesn't actually think that a fight against those Krakens would give enough XP for a character to level, but you have some prior XP from something he would imagine? He just hopes that it wasn't something completely out of character that shouldn't actually award XP. He believes there was a fight that didn't actually take place in the game world, which he hopes is not where this extra XP comes from.)
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 02:55 PM
(She duelled Kitae, officially, a while back. Check out Children of the Planes for the battle.)

Very well. We have a fighting practice ground in the latter part of the courtyard, or we may go out front and fight on the bare ground.

(Want to do this here or in the Legends forum?)
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 02:59 PM
((Either one is fine with me, we're both on so it shouldn't take too long to do. Edit: At least, we were both on when I posted this. As well.. that would be why Orcy didn't see it... that thread is far too filled with eh... well, you and demonfey))

"The practice ground will be fine with me, its closer. My blade is begging to be used and I don't like to keep it waiting. Rather exciting, it has been a while since I've fought a paladin."
Kaer-Thok hops across the yard toward the most likely looking 'practice area' he can find. Slashing through the air a few times he nods and waves her over.

((Since we aren't both on now... maybe we should do it in the Legends of the Guilds forums))
CaptainShar

04-21-07, 11:48 PM
As Waken's body falls to the ground, having been slain in an honorable duel, a faint light can be seen sailing upward, no longer sorrowful.

(Don't try to res. her; I'm going to make a new character.)
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-21-07, 11:51 PM
Kaer-Thok glances around and shrugs. His blade sheathed he backs away for a moment. He makes a thoughtful noise and approaches, poking the centaur's body with his foot.
"Hmm... I'd thought there were... magics at work to keep that from happening. Apparently I was wrong. A good thing, it seems, I did not lose."
DungeonJman

04-22-07, 12:47 AM
She did not want to be resurrected. Odd, but there is nothing that we can do to change her mind then. A truly noble and brave warrior we have lost, may she go on to better things.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-22-07, 12:56 AM
"Yes... well, I'm glad you aren't all murdrously crusading about this. Since I did win the duel that ended her life... would that perhaps mean that eh... some of those... fancy things of hers might... pass ownership? Yes? No?"
Kaer-Thok coughs and grins tapping his fingers together.
turalisj

04-22-07, 12:59 AM
I think the agreement with matches was 50k to the winner, or an item of choice.
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-22-07, 01:02 AM
Would that be in Orcy's arena, or something you all came up with this time around?
Orcy The Green Wonder

04-22-07, 01:22 AM
((After looking back through the Children of the Planes it would see you are right. Ignore Orcy's previous post then!))

Kaer-Thok, relieved that the paladins haven't decided to throw their lives away attacking him, steps forward. He reaches down and takes the sword from the fallen Waken and looks it over, with a nod he slips it into his belt.
"Well, I should... be leaving now. Have a... nice day gentlemen."
Kaer-Thok turns and slips out of the room, moving to the portal and hopping through. A portal to some island or whatnot being far better in his opinon than a guild of paladins who just lost one of their own becuase of him.
CaptainShar

04-22-07, 01:58 PM
Er, I don't mind you taking the sword, because I'm not resurrecting the character, but the agreement was any one item up to 50k...and the sword is worth about twice that.

(And somebody could bury the body.)
CaptainShar

04-22-07, 03:08 PM
Shar strides through the portal, with all her followers, decked out in black.

Ho, DungeonJ! Have you done anything useful with my money yet? If not, I want it back.

But why have you left Waken lying there like that? Get to work, crew.

They lift Waken's body into a casket and bear it out of the portal.

It's a little tough to dig through Walls of Force. I'm taking her to that new hospital you were talking about a while back.
DungeonJman

04-22-07, 03:19 PM
Ahem... I was just about to move Waken. However I have two other things to worry about in addition, with the coup/increased activity at the GoUE and a letter that i recieved yesterday

*holds up an letter that is glowing blue, with glowing white letters*

It would be impossible to communicate this at the funeral, so i need to at least get Sir Draxen down here, to recieve the message.
CaptainShar

04-22-07, 03:21 PM
Oh, how urgent? May I see?
DungeonJman

04-22-07, 03:30 PM
It is pretty darn urgent. It's a type of "Celestial Passing"

Basically their version of a funeral, when a soul ascends to the final layer of Celestia and who knows what happens there. We usually wouldn't be notified of such a thing. But the circumstances are... well, i can't tell you anymore, on the condition that it falls into evil hands.
CaptainShar

04-22-07, 03:36 PM
Oooo-kay.
DungeonJman

04-22-07, 09:10 PM
*leaves a note for Sir Draxen to find*

For Sir Draxen:

I regret to say that Sir Waken has died and refuses to come back from the afterlife. Unfortunately, i need you to do something that was assigned to you upon being appointed the Guardian of the Platinum Heaven Gate. I'm ordering you to go to Celestia, where you will recieve your information, but you need to say that you are from the guild of paladins. I really regret having to make you go there instead of the funeral, but this is vitally important, which is why i can't have the details explained here.
Paladin Supreme
theotherdraxen

04-23-07, 01:51 PM
I'm back.

Damnation upon damnation! How many favors must a man owe to achieve a reasonable station in life?
I'm a terrible guardian.

*reads the note*

As the Paladin Supreme commands, I go, although the recent events I missed here have left me bitter, to say the least. My thoughts are with Lady Skydame's family.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 02:21 PM
A pixie suddenly becomes visible, with bright blond hair, green eyes, and a green coat and trousers. He has a small bow strapped to his back, and a good number of shiny blades of various sizes tucked in various locations around his outfit. He hovers in front of your face.

Is this the Guild of Paladins?
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 03:18 PM
OOC: Uh, no one's really here right now, and theotherdraxen, i'll post the celestia thing in the legend of guilds forum, just say when you step through the portal.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 03:31 PM
(Meh, Draxen was on when I posted.)

The pixie flutters around the halls, looking at the rooms and gates and defenses. He perches on a windowsill - obviously somebody lives here, and they should be back sometime.
Demonfey

04-23-07, 03:56 PM
Something hits a door a couple times, before a loud angry bellow sounds behind it and it seems to explode. A somewhat feral looking raptoran wielding a maul steps through and looks around, before saying (in a Scottish accent)
"Hang on a sec. This isn'a tha castle o'Thramus the Tyrant. How'd I get 'ere? An' where is here, anyway?
He scratches his head.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 04:01 PM
Goes invisible, and 'Detect Evil.'
Demonfey

04-23-07, 04:20 PM
None.
The raptoran looks around before sitting down and pulling out a map.
Lessee...hm. This area doesna appear anywhere on here.
He also looks through the doorway he kicked in. It seems to lead into a broom closet.
An' that was a hall before!
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 04:30 PM
You hear a small moaning noise, and a broom starts flying through the air towards you, slowly.

Whispered: You have awoken the ghossst of Nedin the First, Prince of the Foressst.
Demonfey

04-23-07, 04:36 PM
Detect evil.
...Okay. What're ya doin' in a broom closet if ye're the prince of a forest?
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 05:54 PM
Not evil.
I have come to avenge my, my, er, nevermind.

The broom goes back to its place, and behind you a voice says:

Hello.

A small pixie man, clad in green, is standing there grinning.
Demonfey

04-23-07, 05:58 PM
Ah. Hello.
He offers a much scarred hand.
Name's Korraemus Akiilan. What's yours?
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 06:01 PM
Nedin the Sixty-Fifth, related to the Prince of the Forest...or at least the his brother's wife's cousin.
Demonfey

04-23-07, 06:02 PM
So, what is this place? Ya know?
Up close, his eyes seem to be composed of fire, and it seems to flow through his veins.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 06:14 PM
Guild of Paladins, I believe, but nobody's here. Seems like a whole group of people came, and then they left in a hurry after a duel between only two of them. Not sure what that means. But you can still see a lot of footprints and a little blood if you fly over the courtyard.
Demonfey

04-23-07, 06:25 PM
Really.
He takes flight, and looks around, hovering in the air He eventually lands after taking in the whole thing.
Huh, so there is. Wonder what happened. Tho' it seems tha' there was a mounted person versus a person on foot.
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 08:22 PM
OOC: So i assume Draxen went through the gate then? Well then post in the thread "Celestial Passing" in the Legend of the Guilds forum til you get back here.

After the funeral, DungeonJ comes back to the guild, and sees the pixie and the raptoran.

"Wow, i didn't know that people wanted a tour of the guild. Well, it would have been impossible to do so anyway, considering the circumstances."
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 09:29 PM
Well, I'm going to patrol the place a bit until the real keepers get back. And I'll see you.

With that, Nedin draws his small bow and blinks out of sight.
Demonfey

04-23-07, 09:38 PM
Korrae puts the maul in a quiver and pulls a large, halberd like weapon off his back.
Right.
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 09:42 PM
Uh, what are you two doing?
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 09:46 PM
Oh look! People!

Nedin becomes visible again - he hadn't got far.

I am Nedin of the Forest, and Paladin, and I came all the way here to join you fellows, if you're not averse to the concept. We were just wondering what happened here.

Nedin bows, managing to keep his bow and arrow from scraping the ground.

(He's a Paladin of Freedom 11 - high enough level that he's not only good at combat, but casting and healing too. I'll be done with the stats as soon as Glenn's done with item pricing.)
Demonfey

04-23-07, 09:48 PM
Hello, name's Korraemus.
He offers a fiery hand.
I'm a paladin of freedom, myself.
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 09:49 PM
Oh that... well, a centaur paladin of ours got challenged to a duel to the death, and for some reason, did not want to be resurrected when she lost. I just came back from the funeral. Oh and you guys think you won't be uncomfortable here or something, with the portal to Celestia (remember, it's mildy law aligned too)? Regardless, it's is a pleasure to make your acquaintances (all of this being done a little sadly, since he just left a funeral)
Demonfey

This'll make ya uncomfortable too, so I think we're even.
He brings his polearm to bear, and it begins giving off an energy that sets lawful beings at unease.
'S anarchic. As for the centaur pally, that's a shame, 'tis.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 10:08 PM
Well, see, I'm thinking you might need someone with my temperament and, eh, abilities if you ever need to do something sneaky. And good's more important than law, ain't it? And sorry to hear about the centaur. Any good, was he? What killed him?
Demonfey

04-23-07, 10:13 PM
He said "she".
In my case, I'm also a barbarian, so I can carve through quite a few things.
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 10:14 PM
Was a she, first of all, secondly, she was probably one of our more active and powerful members, and thirdly, she was killed in a duel to the death, and refused to be resurrected
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 10:39 PM
That's silly. But never give up hope, I say! I've been killed a time or two and always decided the earth was a bit more lively than whatever gray ghost-stuff I was wading through to get to eternity, and so came bounding back at the first opportunity. I am sorry to hear you lost someone so powerful, and apparently dear, though.

There don't happen to be any other nice warrior-girls around, do there?

Anyway, will you have us?
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 10:40 PM
Of course! As long as you adhere to the path of good, then we shall accept you.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 10:42 PM
Excellent! 'Official Sneaker' is not my idea of a good title...but perhaps there is a position you need filled? What was the centaur?
Demonfey

04-23-07, 10:43 PM
Well, I dunno where exactly I am, so why not?
How about Berserker?
DungeonJman

04-23-07, 10:46 PM
Well, Waken was the chief messenger of the guild. You want that position?

I honestly don't know if berzerker would fit in though
Demonfey

04-23-07, 10:48 PM
Trust me, it fits in this case. though if ye want somethin' else, ye're free to think of something.
CaptainShar

04-23-07, 10:52 PM
Chief Messenger it is. I can get most places without any trouble.

And, eh, I guess that's a no on the warrior girls? You probably don't get very many pixies either...oh well.
Demonfey

04-24-07, 06:05 PM
So, where's a good place tae get barding around here, anyway?
DungeonJman

04-24-07, 06:06 PM
You mean armor?
Demonfey

04-24-07, 06:09 PM
I know what I said.
He activates another paladin ability, and a horse appears.
Limna needs some, ya see. Tha last set got sundered.
DungeonJman

04-24-07, 06:17 PM
Unfortunately, no. We've been so busy, this place is relatively new, and we aren't making a profit yet, so i haven't gotten the chance to get anything but the living areas and the gate. I'll be working on that as soon as possible.
Demonfey

04-24-07, 06:17 PM
'Kay...where could I go in the mean time ta get some?
CaptainShar

04-24-07, 06:23 PM
If you need any bows, I'm your man. Other than that, I just got myself outfitted in the main city of Tyranor - head through the portal to King's Pyre, then get passage to the mainland - it's not too long to fly, either.

There, er, aren't any more convenient portals to the material plane, are there, Paladin Supreme?
DungeonJman

04-24-07, 06:29 PM
Uh... not as far as i know, i think that i may have a cubic gate or someone here does that's attuned to the city, but i don't know where.
CaptainShar

04-24-07, 11:49 PM
It's Shar again! Do you intend to set up any kind of import/export business here or at the Halls of Refuge? And I'll just hang about until you're done talking to Glenn.
DungeonJman

04-25-07, 12:02 AM
I told you, the Halls of Refuge is supposed to be a healing buisness. Importing and exporting? Well, potions maybe.
CaptainShar

04-25-07, 12:05 AM
Yes, potions of healing. Most useful things in the universe. Got anyone who can make those?
DungeonJman

04-25-07, 12:13 AM
A cleric follower or 4. Unfortunately, even the more powerful one (5th level) has only enough experience and resources to make several at a time, then they have to train some more before reintroducing production.
CaptainShar

04-25-07, 12:17 AM
All right, I'll stay in touch. Is it even worth stopping at the Halls of Refuge, or will you order everything for there from here?
DungeonJman

04-25-07, 12:21 AM
I think we'll be ordering everything for there from here, but then again, i don't really know what that place in particular will need. Another budget expense that has to be taken into account.
CaptainShar

04-26-07, 11:46 PM
So are there any messages to send? Or should I just explore for a bit? Maybe check out those Halls of Refuge the lady mentioned?
CaptainShar

04-28-07, 04:23 PM
Nedin taps his foot impatiently, then shrugs and turns to go, turning invisible.

Well, I'm off for now, then.
CaptainShar

05-01-07, 09:16 PM
Hallo! Anything interesting happen in the last day or two? I helped kill a big evil squid. Anyone else do anything?
Demonfey

05-01-07, 09:24 PM
Nae' really. It's pretty boring 'round here, actually. Think there're more squids? I could use something to bash.
CaptainShar

05-01-07, 09:26 PM
Well, I was going to check out the hospital soon - I'm a fairly skilled healer, if I do say so myself. But if you're hankering for a fight, I'd be glad to oblige before I go. I do believe you'll have to go looking farther abroad if you're looking for a real monster. Living on a demiplane, not much comes your way.
Demonfey

05-01-07, 09:28 PM
Sparrin' sounds good to me.
He unsheathes his halberd.
(Mind if we do this tomorrow? I'll be able to concentrate on it more.)
CaptainShar

05-01-07, 09:46 PM
Whenever you're ready.

(Maybe even later. Depends. You're not the only one with homework.)
Demonfey

05-02-07, 06:33 PM
(Is this a good time for a sparring match, Shar?)
CaptainShar

05-02-07, 06:38 PM
(We can start; I'm DMing at 8, and I'm working on that a little too. I'm going to the duels thread; but I'm assuming nonlethal.)

Catch me if you can... Nedin says as he fades to invisibility.
CaptainShar

05-03-07, 08:21 PM
Nedin buckles his new belt around his waist.

I know what I'm going to do...

Nedin buys some springy wood and some sinew at King's Pyre. He sits in the courtyard of the Guild of Paladins and starts making himself a bow.

DC 21 (Composite Longbow +3); DC 20 (Masterwork): 33, 24 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1020035)

Soon he has the basic frame of a stronger bow; he works on it every day for a couple of hours.

Completed so far: 693 out of 4,000 for the bow; 420 out of 3,000 for the Masterwork
DungeonJman

05-18-07, 06:08 PM
*sighs*

Despite how much i want to help the guild, i must leave.

*steps through the gate to Celestia*

OOC: I'm going away from the boards for a while. I was on the verge of it before, just making it official now.
theotherdraxen

05-21-07, 06:25 PM
OOC: I'm going away from the boards for a while. I was on the verge of it before, just making it official now.

See you when you get back. Sir Draxen'll wait up in Celestia; I think matters have slowed enough here that he shouldn't miss too much.
CaptainShar

05-25-07, 11:36 PM
Nedin uses "Detect Evil" to make sure he's still not being followed. He comes all the way to the guild house, and finds it empty.

Hi ho, and nobody's here again. And the Paladin Supreme and that guard fellow gone indefinitely...you know what, nobody's here, I'm going to give this place a break for a while. We might want more than just paladins, after all. Maybe look up that barbarian fellow again and all that.

He flies to a central location:

People devoted to spreading the hope and healing that come from the side of Good! Let's stop sitting on this rock and get out there and live. I'm shutting this place down for a while, so come on outside to the Halls of Refuge, where we can actually help people.

(Since nobody else seems to be interested in this thread, I'm moving everything to the material plane, the "Halls of Refuge" thread. Discussion is welcome here or there.)
DungeonJman

06-07-07, 02:05 PM
*the gate is still here, so i've gotta come through first*

Confound it! I go away for 3 and a half weeks and I have to be called back due to things falling to pieces. This happens every time! Beilt get a teleport spell ready, the hall of refuge is where all the action appears to be taking place

Got it, sir.

*teleport*

(returning after a long while away...)

A winged figure clad in fullplate that seems to vibrate with motion kneels before the entrance to the guild.

"My name is Akrin Zal, Paladin of the Vulcan Forge. I return after a sojurn to continue on with the guild.
Demonfey

08-09-07, 09:56 PM
Sorry to ruin a perfectly good entrance, but the guild's pretty much moved to the Halls of Refuge at this time.
Phantomcrossing

08-09-07, 11:41 PM
Oh...well then.

(hops on spell jamming mount) where am I going?
Demonfey

08-10-07, 12:12 AM
*Points to portal (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=803891&page=11) right next to him*
That way.
