| Silmarien Aldalome10-25-04, 07:27 AM | Type=NPC Thread Community Racial Composition=Drow Population=Unknown Location=The Underdark - Rilla Mountains At this time, over 70 percent of the world's wealth is in the command of the Drow. Their vast, underground lodes provide much of the known world with copper, mithril, iron, gold, sliver and platinum. Loremasters say there is much more here, that is part of fabulous untold wealth, but the Drow covet their secrets, being servants of all Evil Deities, such as Lolth and Shar. However, there is an uneasy truce, at this time between the Drow and the Surface, because the two worlds need each other. The Drow supply the surface world with metals and in exchange, the Sovereign - Our Highness - Praises Be - provides the Drow with a number of goods and services. Without this line of supply to the Underdark, only one other source of metal lodes is known, that being in the keeping of the Dwarves. Greetings Posters. Welcome to the Underdark Series of Guilds. In these threads, you may contribute to anything Underdark - especially Drow. The particular focus of this thread, here, is treasure, resources, and riches that are native to the Underdark. If you have ideas about what one can find in the Underdark, how to find it, and how to use it for merchant trade, please post. Alternatively, this thread is part of the Guild House Inter-Foundation series and is also a part of the In-Game (IG) Game Structure. The blue writing, above, describes (or hints at) the relationship the Underdark has to the surface world. Please feel free to contribute to that purpose if you like as well. Merry Posting Silmarien |
| anglar11-02-04, 12:55 AM | To get things going Before your first night in the Underdark city is done, you are roused from your chambers and brought before a Drow unlike any you have seen before. His head is shaved smooth and he wears a large hat witha colorful feather sticking out the right side. Over his right eye he wears a patch. You are escorted to seats as he paces back and forth in the room. He turns to you and says, "Well met. I am Jarlaxle, a Keeper of sorts. It was I who is responsible for opening the trade talks with you and the city. So it is my repsonsibility to inform you that there has been a murder this very night. Now, this isn't an uncommon thing, but the circumstances are. T'would seem that all signs point towards you, if for no other reason than the vitim was not dead until after your arrival here. I have bargained with the others to allow you to investigate this crime in the name of good faith." A look of disbelief races across his visage for only the briefest of moments. "How long you will be given I cannot say. I can also say that if you leave this city before satisfaction is had that there will be no chance for our two businesses to co-exist peacefully. I will provide you whatever assistance I can, but no more." All right boys and girls. You have your first challenge before you. To keep things fair, each foundation will have its own murder to solve. I'll give out the info on a PM basis and trust you keep it within your own foundations. If you represent more than one foundation and have multiple selves, such as Thasis, then the info is likewise only given to each Thasis or whomever that gains it. There will be similarities in the murders, and differences. Even foundations that have allied themselves with others must complete this part on their own. I will be keeping track of which foundations I have given what info to. Don't PM Sil, I'm doing this part so she can concentrate on other things. I will keep her abreast of what is going on. So, what's your first course of action players? |
| thasis11-02-04, 09:36 AM | *poof* A cloud of smoke apears. When the smoke disipears you see none other then Thasis himself. It seems to be the Aasimar Thasis from the Planetouched guild. He walks up to Anglar. "Hello sir. I am Thasis the Planetouched. It occurst to me that there has been a murder here. I am wondering who was murdered. If it was anyone I know it would prove to be very distrestfull on my part". Question: Lets say that a character not in the guild that the murder case was assigned for, could he poof into the city and start to snoop around and look for stuff about the murder hear? It makes sense that you should be able to since whats stopping someone from just transporting into the room and figuring out whats happening. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-02-04, 04:39 PM | OK - Anglar and I have discussed the thread - he'll cover for me when I'm not around and vice-versa (it's a good combination, my daylight hours are your daylight hours - erm, I mean see you yesterday tomorrow, or today yesterday...... ) ;) Sil registers Anglar's brusqueness with a nod. She is familiar with his style - and knows well his disdain for Shar-ian Lore. "Bane will hear you if your hate is great - and it is through that hate that he traces his adversaries and destroys them. For his knowledge of all that is good is so scarce that he has few moments to know good beings." she says with care and as she gently encourages the impulsive Anglar to reason..... @Thasis - Welcome to the Underdark @All - your Mission Brief is in Anglar's hands. So - if you don't participate - you're Foundation In-Game will fall behind. In case you missed it, I just gave a *vital* clue to everyone...... I'll be back to post with Flavour Text - but for now - ENJOY THE RIDE!!! stav |
| Dyne11-02-04, 05:20 PM | Another man walks into the room. He is wearing full-plate armor, yet it seems to hinder him little. On his back, you see two massive swords, one a shiny silver color, the other glowing gold. He is an elf, but of stronger constitutions than most elves you have seen. "I am a representative of the Council of Archmages. It is my understanding that a murder has occurred here. I am Dyne, Archmage of War, and I'm here to investigate the murder on behalf of the Council." |
| Demonfey11-02-04, 05:46 PM | {A demon-elf crossbreed with a metal arm, three eyes, a snake tail, skin like a beholders, and spikes sprouting out of his body appears shortly after Dyne} I am Crowley. I am a representative from the Guild of Ultimate evil, Children of the Planes, and Council of the Archmages. Can you tell us more details about the corpse, or better yet, let us see it? |

I don't care how many people have to die. The only thing keeping someone from teleporting in and out of places is the little Dark-Mythal that surrounds the city. Teleportaion is restrictred only to members of the Noble Houses. #2 - The Character you are dealing with is not Anglar. It is Jarlaxle. If it will be less confusing, I can create the MUP. Each foundation will be treated as if any and all members are present from the moment one person from the foundation begins the investigation. I urge you to share the info you have with the other members, but please try to keep it in PM form. A point of this exercise is to increase the teamwork of the posters as a unit. #3 - It is up to the PCs to determine who was killed, why, and by whom. You have to start asking questions before I can start PMing specific answers. #4 - Demonfey, as you represent 3 foundations, you have three murders to solve, separately. I'll get you those PMs ASAP. |

| thasis11-02-04, 08:54 PM | "What, teleportation is limited the the Nobles. Thank god that I am a powerfull noble. Ahh... the goodness of being powerfull". Thasis then walks over to the corpse. "This guy was definintly murdered. I wonder by whom". Thasis then starts searching the room for clues. He looks under tables and the such. |
| Dyne11-02-04, 09:17 PM | By the way the Thasis I was using is the one who repesent the Guild of Ultimate Evil. But you already said he was an Aasimar from the Planetouched Guild. Anglar, as soon as you can, send me a description of the body, who was murdered, who might've wanted to murder the person, a list of people who know the deceased person, a description of the place he was murdered, and anything else you think is prevalent. |
| anglar11-02-04, 09:26 PM | Can we ask for help from allies in our guilds? Of course. One of the points of this is for you to share what you know with other members of the guild. The only thing I don't want you doing is sharing information with other guilds, as there will be similarities but also differences for each case. |

| Dyne11-02-04, 09:34 PM | By-the-way, is the Drow Foundation still active? I have a Drow Necromancer character who might join (he might be a Vampire too, I'm not sure yet). That is, if you guys don't mind undead. |
| anglar11-02-04, 09:47 PM | By-the-way, is the Drow Foundation still active? I have a Drow Necromancer character who might join (he might be a Vampire too, I'm not sure yet). That is, if you guys don't mind undead. It is considered active if for other reason than I am here. I tend to let it lay low. I was considering doing a behind the scenes coup until I got the GM status. If you would like to represent it, that is fine with me. |

"We'll have none of that now, good dragon. We need to preserve this body for a while longer until the murderer or murderers are brought to light. If you are truly hungry, might I suggest the rothe herd just over the lake. Mind you, don't eat any citizens or the Mythal will have at you, and I wouldn't want that for anything." |

| anglar11-03-04, 03:09 AM | "I am unfamiliar with a rothe. Are they domestic? By the way, I'm evil." Rothe are basically the Underdark version of sheep, just really big. And being evil only means we would have all the more reason to destroy you if you don't behave. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-03-04, 03:59 AM | Naturally, I can't participate in this one in quite the same way. But - I really don't know the answer to the riddle - and will represent the Half-Elves - and you will trust Anglar to manage the Half-Elven contingency without cheating and in a way that makes it fair. If someone wishes to represent Peredhil Halls, who is a member - they may. Silmarien studies this "Jarlaxe" with masked contempt. For, she recognises that need necessitates the forging of alliances with the Underdark. <they command the greater part of the wealth of the known world> she muses to herself <but this does not mean they are not without needs of their own. We must remember this. They need us as we do them - and our fragile little treaty will only hold until a better solution is found> She tightens her robes about her waist, with a scarf-like belt. Her silver-blond hair falls in locks over her shoulders as she studies Jarlaxe with a poised and featureless face. She hums quietly, as she studies his features, and then looks past him to scan the environment. She then turns her attention to the representatives of the foundations around her. Without body gesture and without sound.... To DM: 1. - Sil sets up a Rary's Telepathic Bond (silent, still) with Dyne and good thasis and before including Sssargoth - she reads his alignment FIRST. 2. If Sssargoth=evil NO telepathic bond [Telpathically]...Comrades - we must share our knowledge. WARD - We are in Drow lands - and WE ARE IN GREAT DANGER. We MUST stick together - and see what unfolds![/Telepathically] 3. Then Sil turns on Jarlaxe and she smiles and bows "Jarlaxe - surely you do not question the integrity of the Half-Elves as well? However - I will abide by your request - I need to see the body and the evidence that you have collected. What do you offer to me in terms of the context for the murder? PS - I will check twice a day - but my main focus is on managing the game setup...... @All THINK SMART - BE CAREFUL! |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-03-04, 05:14 AM | PS - guyz - you'd better check Tenzhi's thread - >>We're Being GRADED<< (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=332503) *grins* stav |
| Fuzzy Logic Inc.11-03-04, 05:04 PM | The High Thane, slightly disgruntled over being woken at such a strange hour, stepped into the room. His tardiness was obviously due in part to the massive bulk of armor that covered his body. The polished plates were decorated with a stunningly ornate motif of hammers while lengths of holy scriptures written on ancient parchement hung from every available surface. His helmet was left off and, upon his arrival, he lowered piercing eyes on the drow with the silly hat. He opted not to sit in the chairs, as the weight from his form would have crushed any but the sturdiest of seats. "And what should we care that you Drow are about stabbing eachother in the back?"[/i] stroking the elaborately braided beard hanging from his face, Khazur continued, "But if you say we must look into it to solidify trade, I cannot decline. Tell me, man, what are the circumstances of the death? Can I see the body? After asking his initial questions, the dwarf looked about the area, studying the others gathered and anything else that might have seemed out of place. Its not too late to get in on this band wagon is it? I'd hate to lower the other foundations' self esteem by giving them a head start. ;) |
| Dyne11-03-04, 07:59 PM | A red dragon that is little taller than an average man walks in. Upon seeing the body, he perks up, saying "Oh, lunch! Hmm, I didn't know this was a buffet..." Suspect #1: Sssargoth. :P [Telpathically]...Comrades - we must share our knowledge. WARD - We are in Drow lands - and WE ARE IN GREAT DANGER. We MUST stick together - and see what unfolds![/Telepathically] Anglar said he doesn't want the Guilds to share information I am bound by my word. I cannot share my knowledge of the murders with other guilds. If I break my word, it may put us in even more danger. But, fear not. I will not let harm come to my allies. I am not afraid of the Drow. I will not let their tricks get the best of me. But, tread carefully, my friends. There are dangerous enemies all around us, hiding in the darkness, feeding off our fears. If we are not wary, we will fall to the darkness. Jarlaxle, I am willing to work with you for the good of our agreement. But, I'm gonna need all the help you can give me. I hope we can set aside our differences for our mutual benefit. There are powerful forces at work here, and we will not succeed if we are divided. Dyne emphasizes the last bit to his comrades, making it a point that we must stick together to survive. |
| Sssargoth11-03-04, 08:30 PM | Wheres my murder case, Ang? I'm representing the psionics foundation, if that's what you were wondering. |
| thasis11-03-04, 08:44 PM | A dark figure walks in. As he slowly emerges from the shadows you see that is a large Pit Fiend. "I am Thasis, here on behalf of the Guild of Ultimate Evil. I heard there has been a murder. Where is this body? Let me investigate it". |
| king_of_evil00711-03-04, 10:30 PM | The dark robed man immediately fiddles with his wide brimmed hat, making it turn into but a hairpin. His hair glimmers suddenly and turns a shocking white, and his skin slowly darkens until the colour of ebony. He now appears to be a drow, aside from the large axe strapped across his back, which is an unusual weapon for this culture. Well, now that I'm here, I've utilized my Hat of Disguise to make myself drow-like. I also have a Ring of Mind Shielding active, although I'm not sure if any of this makes a difference. Anglar - I haven't recieved a PM yet. I'm here for the Amazing Creators' Foundation. Have I missed a thread to sign up on? And how is this "guild"? As far as I can see, it seems to be more of a personal thing. . . either way, thanks in advance. |
| anglar11-03-04, 11:19 PM | POINTS OF INFORMATION #1 - Each murder is being treated as taking place in its own universe. They do not overlap. You may act as if there are multiple versions of yourself that can identical or tailored to the specific guild you are representing at the time. #2 - I have't sent PMs to each guild because I am waiting for each guild to contact me, either here or through PM. This way I'm not pushing a guild that isn't ready and those who have started gain benefit from getting into the game early, but not too much. #3 - As there are getting to be quite a few guilds in action, once the guild has had a look at the murder site, I am only going to send 2 PMs to that guild per day. You may send me as many as you like. I will take down the questions asked or actions taken and respond as soon as I can early in my night and then again at the end of my night. #4 - I am copying every PM I send out to a file and then deleting it so my "in box" stays relatively clear. #5 - This is not a competition between guilds, other than to see which one or ones canget the jump on opening up the trade lines and get the money flowing. This is an exercise to help promote teamwork within the guilds before you all start trying to defeat each other. #6 - I'll be sending out the corpse files for the newl represented guild at the end of the night. If you want to get in some pre-emptive questions before I leave (about 2:30 AM Central Time), I'll do my best to address those questions as well. @FLI - "It would be to your greater interest to find the true culprits before I have dozens of accreditted Drow cititzens swearing to Lloth that it was you who killed the deceased. Inspriation enough?" |
| Fuzzy Logic Inc.11-04-04, 12:43 AM | Obviously angered, Khazur's nostrils flare wide as he holds his tongue on the matter. He wasn't stupid, these dark elves would turn on their own kin as soon as they would on one of his folk. His hammer, a truely enormous weapon indeed, was lowered from its idle resting place on his shoulder, the head placed on the ground with a thud. "By my beard, Jarlaxle, I will find the true culprit. Who is the deceased and from what clan does he, or she, hail?" Just throwing out a couple questions before they PMs get sent. And, if you haven't guessed it, I'm here for the Dwarf Foundation. |
| thasis11-04-04, 09:44 AM | I'm posting right now as a the Guild of Ultimate Evil Thasis. The large pit fiend walks up to the corpse. He looks at it. "Ha, I'm surprised nowone has tried this yet. He waves his hands around and chants a little spell. (He casts Speak with Dead). Quick Question: Do all in-game actions have to be PM to the moderator of the area or something? Just wondering. |

Their rule is to divide and conquer. We must outsmart them, comrades. Sil extends the Rary's Mnemonic bond - to inlcude Fuzzy Logic[/i] .....It would the will of the Drow to have us turn on each other - therefore, be welcome - great Dwarf Lord - that we shall prevail to go beyond solving the murders, but perhaps find our own Allies in the Underdark. Seek the Clerics of Ellistrae - who are known to be Good more often than not. We must work together. I will share what I know - do you offer the same? IS THERE A CLERIC AMONGST US - can someone Discern Lies - while I TALK TO JARLAXE.[Telepathically] She suddenly sends you a wave of inspiration, and epipheny [Telpathically].....I know what Dweomer to cast to access knowledge about this event.... Silmarien glides past Jarlaxe, while keeping one eye on him, and kneels over the body. She is grim as she sees the bodily damage <this is an Abomination. That such defilement of the dead be permitted.> and she flashes a look of anger at the Drow city. She incants over the dead Drow - A Vision I seek of all that you were Of where you did walk and who you did know Show me your Face a Vision I seek To know who you were To see your Face smile Why were you so broken Why is your face mishappen What Lore are you bound to What House did you belong to This Vision of Time from Then and from Now To Aid in our Quest and Spare us from Drow When she is done, you see that her eyes are tear-filled..... Summarised Notes to DM 1. Silmarien's 8th Level Spell that she is running is Moment of Prescience 2. She then uses Herbalism Skill Check to detect poison 3. And Alchemy Skill to detect acid in the drops of blood or face 4. And tips some Holy water on the "dead" thing. 5. The SPELL IS "VISION" (a 7th Level Wizard Spell - basically a FAST Legend Lore) SPECIFICALLY - she wants a Vision of HIS/HER FACE!!!! And the Poem asks gives a context for the Vision - it is the 'questions' for the Vision's context. Notes to Players 1. I seek a Clerics Assistance to Discern Lies and Detect Poison 2. To detect evil - or the taint of the Vampire in this dead one |
| Dyne11-04-04, 05:43 PM | IS THERE A CLERIC AMONGST US - can someone Discern Lies - while I TALK TO JARLAXE. Well, since Thasis is casting Speak with Dead, he must be a Cleric. But, I'm not sure what his motives are and if he's trustworthy. |
| Fuzzy Logic Inc.11-04-04, 08:26 PM | The High Thane stood over the body, looking at the state of the deceased as the bond of telepathy was placed upon him. He looked up, unconciously as he heard the words of the caster in his head. "I have no doubt of the will of the drow, for our peoples have done battle for years beyond rememberance, even by your long lived people. But you receive my thanks and my alliance in this endeavor, Archmage of Elfkin. You say you need a cleric. I am a Cleric of the Dwarfather, bless his name and preseve his servants. I can assist in the casting of some spells." The Dwarf placed his hand on the large hammer and anvil emblazoned upon his chest plate, which it becomes obvious is his holy symbol. A shaft of white light is emitted from his chest as he moves his hand from before the symbol. He turns his form so that the light rests upon the dead body as he begins his prayer. "Moradin, All-father, Lord of All Beneath the Earth, reveal to your faithful servant the nature of this creature's death, whether it was by venom to which you have warded your followers. Show me, Thane Khazur, that he rests peacefully and does not stir within the hands of death." Actions: 1. Cast Detect Poison on dead body. 2. Cast Detect Undead, he will concentrate for the maximum amount of time required to gain all information (or 5 minutes, whichever arrives first). 3. I desire to make the Wisdom roll if poison is detected, but am at a loss for how to do this. Also, this all will probably not help the others much, as each murder is of different circumstances. It could turn out that my body isn't poisoned but others are. Or vice versa. |
| turalisj11-04-04, 08:46 PM | as the group examines the corpse a figure near the back creeps off. those near him recognize him as turalisj, the wandering ranger and to those few whom he has shown his true shape, turalisj the genoacidal dragon. "perhaps there are other answers to this mystery than inside that corpse" he wispers to himself as he walks out. mysteries, no? the "select few" im talking about would be those who are in the psionic and dragon foundations. |
| Demonfey11-04-04, 09:36 PM | Anglar, can I share a little information involving speak with dead? |
| Dyne11-04-04, 10:54 PM | The Wizard in Emerald Green robes stands over the body, contemplating its horrific death. He then closes his eyes, and begins muttering arcane chants and incantations. His voice begins as a soft whisper, but its volume seems to grow, until it sounds like a loud shout in your mind, even though he appears to be chanting the words in the same manner. His words sway you, and you seem to lose track of your thought, focusing only on his voice. This continues for several moments, until his chanting finally stops and he opens his eyes. You become more at ease, and you are at peace. "I have gathered as much information as I could from the body, but there are some things you must tell me. I need your cooperation if I am to succeed in this investigation. Do you understand? Note to DM: I cast the following spells on the corpse: Detect Poison, Detect Magic, and Detect Undead. I also cast Charm Person on Jarlaxle. |
| king_of_evil00711-04-04, 11:20 PM | The dark robed man walks around the body, mumbling quietly to himself, face scrunched in concentration. "A conundrum, a conundrum. . ." his voice is quiet and rasping. He walks around the corpse for another minute or so, before turning to Jarlaxle suddenly. "Tell me everything you know about this. . . victim." KoE listens intently to Jarlaxle's every word, examining every tiny facial movement, trying to learn everything he can. After Jarlaxle finishes speaking I'm assuming this is a PM? he continues walking around the corpse, before positioning himself directly in front of it. "Of course, you won't mind if I investigate a little?" He begins speaking, the tone of his voice changes dramatically. From a quiet rasp to a powerful, not booming, but strong voice that radiates a certain aura of power. He seems to shine a little, whether from his magic or a certain power within. The words spoken seem arcane and incomprehensible, but they feel powerful. "Let it be known," he declares at last, "That I have arrived, and will get to the bottom of this murder immediately!". Actions Diplomacy Check to convince Jarlaxle to tell me as much as he knows about the victim. (result of 30, the roll (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=KoE#132414) of 4 + 26) Makes a Sense Motive check on Jarlaxle's response (result 24, the roll (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=KoE#132416) of 9 + 15) Casts See Invisibility, looking around the whole room. Casts Detect Magic, scanning first the corpse, then the rest of the room, making sure to pinpoint any auras not centered upon himself or Jarlaxle. Cast Legend Lore on the victim (casting time 10 minutes, the roll (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=KoE#132415) of 1, x10) After Legend Lore is finished, use Bardic Knowledge on the corpse to determine anything. (result 16, the roll (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=KoE#132417) of 14 + 2). Contingency Plan If Jarlaxle is seen as lying (per my Sense Motive checks) or otherwise acts not hospitable towards me (refuses to give any information) I use my Fascinate Bardic Music ability to hopefully Fascinate Jarlaxle. (result of 32, due to a roll (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=KoE#132421) of 11, and a Perform [Orator] modifier of +21) If Fascinate works on Jarlaxle, I immediately use my Suggestion power on him and tell him that he should tell me everything he knows to help solve the case, because KoE is a friend, and helping KoE helps Jarlaxle. (Will save DC of 23 for Jarlaxle) I considered a Bluff check for his last line ("Let it be known that I have arrived, and will get to the bottom of this murder immediately!") :D While I am not a Cleric, my Bard (or Orator, as KoE prefers) spells come in handy, as does a charisma of 27 or so. I can help anybody with Sense Motive checks should they need it (+15) unless a Cleric or somebody better steps forward (am I allowed to do this, or do all murders take place in completely separate worlds?) |
| Sssargoth11-04-04, 11:33 PM | (am I allowed to do this, or do all murders take place in completely separate worlds?) They each take place in different worlds, which explanes why Jarlaxle is everywhere. The Psionics foundation's case is on the third floor of a brothel, for example. |
| anglar11-05-04, 03:58 PM | Anglar, can I share a little information involving speak with ? No, unless it is with the guild that has already discovered what I told you. Each foundation must take its own steps. |
| Dyne11-05-04, 05:28 PM | Dyne, the Elven Archmage in light full plate armor, approaches Jarlaxle. "Can you tell me anything you know about the rothe? Who lives near them, who works with them, what they are used for? Have they been acting strange lately?" He asks this series of questions while looking directly at Jarlaxle, unblinking and serious. |
| thasis11-05-04, 06:05 PM | Thasis walks up to the dead body and chants a spell or two. Actions: 1.) I cast see invisibility 2.) I seach the body for any items that I might have missed 3.) I then cast speak with dead and ask the body "What did you last see before you were killed". |
| Agudo Archmage11-05-04, 08:04 PM | OOC My Char is a Wizard/Cleric... I will send My Char stats latter for everyone to see. So Its up to you gals and guys if Agudo can talk with the dead drow And by the way I ((NEVER) Mega play him in games! It more fun to be humbel and let others have the glory Lord Dyne said the a death had taken place. Being Healers of the Light. Agudo and Hoot quickly folowed the others to the body. Scratching his short blond beard his contemplated what he saw Bending down Agudo took out a magical magnifying glass and looked at the body closly Lady Hoot prayed for a revelation of insight into the deadly event. ((OOC To the GM its just like talking with the dead. But more through the eyes of him or her. Basically the last few minutes.)) |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-05-04, 10:25 PM | [GM-voice]Well done everyone. You're getting the hang of it. Look upstream at King of Evil's post - it's the best organised post so far. Spell out your actions to the GM concisely. And put an In-Game post to describe your style and delivery. The Judges score you on both those items[/GM-Voice] [Stav-as-Player]....As Sil inspects the dead body, she struggles against an impulse to express her disgust publicly, to Jarlaxe, for the defilement of the dead angers her. As she casts her spells in last post - the Runestaff glows Azure and Sil's green eyes flash with the familiar blue of the Pereldar Verse. The aether fills with fleeting echoes of song, and your minds see brief flashes and images of the Northern Flame. The Elf-Lords of the City, who command the Mythal stand before you, their grim faces watch you and the First amongst them holds up his hand in a Warding gesture. Their cloaks - Blue and Silver blow in the breeze as their hair - some raven black, others silver-blond blows about their faces and shoulders. Behind them, the highest parapets of the seven Elven Towers radiate with seven colours that meld with the Starlight. She looks up at you, when the spell is cast and says (From Anglar) "your face is covered by something that steals all sight from you. Your hands and feet are bound together, and then you feel the same "rope" being pulled around your neck. Then you fall asleep, never to wake again in the mortal world". As we also know, his face was burned off with acid. [Telepathy]I think he was strangled. We must find out what Drow House he was from - who were his enemies, and which Matron Mother runs the House? If we can get names and places - we can find out more.[/Telephathy] She bows before Fuzzy Logic, after recieving his mental thoughts. She says to Jarlaxe: "What Drow House was he from Jarlaxe? Who is his Matron Mother?" Notes to DM: I Give Aid to King of Evil's skill checks - which gives him an extra +2 on each. ....Jarlaxe - to aid you, we need to understand you a little better. It is no small thing, determining the reason for this murder. I use Knoweldge Arcana and Spellcraft and Detect Magic (still, silent) to study Jarlaxe's forehead, and specifically, his eyes and eye-patch. Notes about spells to Players: Rary's Telepathic Bond lets you have up to five extras at my level. Those included in the Telepathic Link are: Thasis, Dyne, Fuzzy Logic Sssargoth (IF HE SPELLS OUT HIS ALIGNMENT TO SIL - Sil got worried by something he said upstream that was Dark-Lord-ish. Sssargoth - can you PM me if it's private) Either of Agudo or King of Evil - Sil's still sussing them out. [/Stav-as-Player] |
| Dyne11-05-04, 11:04 PM | Dyne closes his eyes and begins reciting incantations. The words that are spoken from his mouth sound fluid and otherworldly, and even though they are not understandable to you, they seem to have meaning to you. He speaks strongly, and his will is conveyed by his voice. If you focus on his voice, the fluid words flow through your thoughts like a river with no apparent beginning, no apparent end, and no apparent direction. When his incantations stop, he finally opens his eyes, and you notice they are a glowing blue. Dyne then looks around the room with a piercing gaze that seems to be looking at things that are not there. To GM: I cast a Still Arcane Sight spell and study the room, especially the body and Jarlaxle. I also study Jarlaxle long enough to determine spellcasting ability, spell-like abilities, whether they are divine or arcane, and the strength of the most powerful spell or spell-like ability the creature currently has available for use. |
| turalisj11-06-04, 02:34 PM | did anybody even notice me leaving the room? :( |
| thasis11-06-04, 03:04 PM | OOC: @Turalisj Not realy :D . Kidding. In-Game: The doors to the inn burst open. In walks a person covered in light so bright that it burns anyone who looks at hims eyes. The light slowly dies down. When the light dies down you see a Half-Celestial Pit Fiend. "I am Thasis the Good. I come here for I have heard there has been a murder. I must get to the bottom of this and capture and persicute the murderer". Thasis the Good then moves to Jarlaxe. "Kind sir may I ask what has happened here?". |

| thasis11-06-04, 03:52 PM | OOC: I'm am serious. It's strange and never been done before but I'm doing it. In your face. It's good to baffel people by doing things that are completly insane and unpredicitble. Sil, what do you think? Is that just to insane to even try? |
| Tenzhi11-06-04, 11:57 PM | OOC: Half-celestial Pit Fiends? Been there, done that. I still can't conceive of the plaid slaad, though. |
| turalisj11-07-04, 12:03 AM | with disust on his face, turalisj walks back in. he walks around the room, feeling the walls for any hidden crevices or entrences. ooc: i enterd the room and am now making a search check to find any hidden crevices and such. |
| De Batavier11-07-04, 04:55 AM | A human dressed in a long dark leather trenscoat walks in. He has a strange dome shaped hat on his head. A dog follows him in. Greetings. I'm here to assist Sssargoth and others from the psionics foundation in their investigations. He pulls out a magnifing glass. And walks to the corpse. Hmm this is defently an attempt to hide the victims identity or the perb didn't like him, realy didn't like him. First things first. Those who don't have any buisness here clear the room and leave your name with my associates. We will question you. (the psionics case is in a brothel, i believe) To the lady in charge: How many of your patrons have access to this floor. We need to speak to them. I know you want this over as soon as possible, so the better you cooperat, the sooner we all can leave. |

I see we have the same training in the basic way of looking for clues. Did you say associate? Who would that be?" |
| De Batavier11-08-04, 04:12 AM | Greetings nice to meet you makes a formal bow I work for the psionics foundation. It's "leader" is hard to miss.points to big red dragon We indeed must look for the clues that are left behind with ordinary means. Magic and other talents can be manipulated. Though they can make the search a little lighter.Walks to his dog I will tell him to search for smells that aren't coming from those that are present.Talks to dog I hope he understands me, this time... |
| Dyne11-08-04, 07:09 PM | "I suppose I can leave the job of investigating the body to my fellow Archmages. There are other things that must be done." The Elf in Full Plate armor turns to Jarlaxle. "Good friend, if you will, please lead me to the rothe herding grounds. There are details there that I need to work out." |
| anglar11-09-04, 01:09 AM | I think I've gotten back to everyone. If not, please post so I can. To answer a general question: Detect Magic on Jarlaxle = Pinball machine on tilt light show. Everything he is wearing is magical. The eye-patch, which so many of you seem to be interested in, gives of an aura similar to a ring of mind shielding, only stronger. Please identify which foundation you are representing when asking questions as each foundation has its own case and I need to know which information to give you. |
| De Batavier11-09-04, 05:10 AM | Foundation: Psionic Hmm the hair and the dirt do seem to indicate an other place to invastigate. I to will go to this Rothe island. Let's dog smell the hair and dirt sample. Bows to the other people and leaves the scene |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-09-04, 04:51 PM | After hearing Jarlaxe's words - Silmarien suddenly inhales a breath as she rises from a prone position over the dead body. Her eyes widen as she says to you "I suspect that there are Factions of the Drow who would saboutage our mission - for our Parlay was only possible under the greatest of resistance. Our mission will only succeed if we work together" she studies your face - and asks herself "does this one conceal from their comrades" - and she knows what you feel in either answer. Therefore she smiles and says "I know more of our mystery - Let us share that!" Her name is Krella of the Fourth House. And she is the only Matron Mother unaccounted for at this time. She is supposedly due back in four days. That Eye Patch prevents Jarlaxe from being mentally controlled - we should perhaps, erm, "remove" it at some stage - if he leads us into a trap. (Sil will give that information to anyone who asks) Notes to DM 1. Questions for Jarlaxe a. What mission was Krella on? b. How many daughters does she have? c. Who is this House's enemy? d. What was the Fourth House planning? e. Were the fourth House antagonistic or supportive of the new initiative to trade? f. Can we visit the Fourth House within the City? g. Who are the Fourth House's enemies and Allies. Notes to Players We need to learn as much as we can about the Fourth House, Krella and everything about them by any means possible ASAP I suspect we have FOUR DAYS to solve this. And that in that time - something is being planned by the Drow. We also need to see if there is an imposter in any of the other houses. stav |
| Droga11-09-04, 05:44 PM | *click, clack. Click, clack* The sound echoes from the shadows. A pair of red eyes form within them, looking over the various creatures that stand about the area. A body begins to form from the shadows as the eyes move foreward. A 16ft creature with massive arms and long, deadly looking claws comes forth from the shadows. It's skin is blacker than night and seems to absorb the very light around it. The creature stalks foward, walking on both hands and feet, it's arms reaching far enough to the ground to do so only slightly bent over. It's eyes scan across the various creatures in the room with a look of disgust on its dark face. "Disgusting little creatures. Pitiful mortals, to think that I must be near you worthless creatures is insulting. You little mortals should consider yourselves lucky that I do not devour you where you stand." The beast growls a bit, a short roar following this. In reality he speaks in his own language. (specific to his race) "At least, I do not yet." The creature then went to examine the corpse. Shoving it a bit with his massive claw. Thinking over what he could do here. From the Guild of Ultimate Evil, just here to help with ideas and get a feel for whats going on. |

| Droga11-10-04, 03:04 AM | Droga spread a pair of large black wings and roared at the one who spoke. A slight grin spread across his dark face. "What evil acts have I done that you will not tolerate mortal? Keep your mouth shut little swine, unless you wish to lose it. I have no reason to harm you... yet. I suggest you keep it that way little swine." Droga roared once more at Dyne then went back to scanning over the corpse. His dark eyes looking it up and down, not that he would help much. Most mortals looked the same to him when they were dead. Dirty beasts that were nothing more than rotten masses of flesh in the end. Droga turned his attention to Jarlaxe, a curious mortal. Droga had not seen many like this one, it seemed more flashy than others of its kind. "Why do we bother looking at these pitiful little creatures. They are dead, what is the point of learning why. In the end it is just another disgusting little mortal being. It's life and death are merely part of the cylce you creatures go through." (I didnt mention wings before, because I just finished items on the character.) |

And there is nothing that cannot be destroyed, devils or gods alike." |
| Bait the Bard11-10-04, 03:58 AM | Ok. Lets see if I have this straight: All foundations are investigationg different cases. There is no overlap between different foundations. All members from the same foundation are in the same 'universe'. By this: I am in a room with Dyne. I have not posted up a character in the Player Character Statistics thread, as I don't paricularry like that type of roleplaying. Is that a problem? If so, if possible, just assume I am about a Bard 12/Archmage 3, with lots of magical knives, various speels, some funky other magic items, mainly for disguise and protection. my skills are 'standard' bard ones, the Knowledges, Bluffs, etc, Disguise, Perform, etc. I'm also slightly confused by Sil's actions. She seems to be able to talk to everyone, and ask things about everyone, etc. Anyone care to explain? Otherwise I'm going to jump in this place. You have been warned. ;) - - - - - - - - - - - - - Delwyn, while Dyne had being trying to find information about the murder from this 'Jarlaxle', meanwhile studying the darkened room, lit only by two torches, Jarlaxle, and everything else, his eyes staying still, while he took in it all, occasionally focusing on one thing, or another, depending ot the object. There were mnay curious things going on here, in more than one way, as well. He had been sent with Dyne to open this city to the Council, Dyne appearing as the leader, and being the main talker, while Delwyn waited, and listened, which was much better for discovering the goings on. Dyne was also used for intimidation, but where Dyne would fail, Delwyn stepped in. He had dabbled in politics, intruige, information and the like scince a very youg age, as a street boy, and could sense most undercurrents, and many facts meant to be hidden, and had made himself many enemies this way as well. This murder was indead curious. There was obviously a political motive for it, to prevent them accesing the city. Reasoning followed that there was someone here that disliked the council, and while that was not unusual, there was obviously someone here who thought himself more powerful than the council, or was, or did not know the council. And Delwyn was going to find out who, or what it was. It would definatly be dnagerous, but Delwyn had spent his life surviveing, and was good at it. And hiding when needed. Turning to this Jarlaxle, Delwyn asked, in a tone of mild curiosity: "Tell me, you said you were a 'Keeper'. I have not heard this term used before, and I have done much bussiness with the drow. Is it some form of city gurad, or the like? Soory, but I must not distract you with idle questions. Tell me, is there anyone you know of in the city that would hold hostility against the Council? Even the slightest grudge?" |
| turalisj11-10-04, 11:13 AM | turalisj, remembering the old saying about what a drow would do for money, walks up to jarlaxe and pulls out a bag of platinum where only he and the drow can see it. "tell me all you know and you shall be rewarded tenfold" he whispers into jarlaxe's ear. :) the one thing a drow can't resist next to watching their foes slowly die, a bag full of platinum and the chance for even more. |
| Droga11-10-04, 12:30 PM | Droga grinned at the drow. Looking down on the little creature he laughed. "A good thing I am neither god, devil nor demon then. You little creatures assume to know everything, this amuses us greatly. To us you swine are no more than animals to be butchered and fed to our clans. However, I shall amuse you. Not because you claim to be powerful, but because I would not want to see what remains of your city if you do indeed try to bind one such as I." Droga growled a bit at the drow. |
| Dyne11-10-04, 05:59 PM | He had been sent with Dyne to open this city to the Council, Dyne appearing as the leader, and being the main talker, while Delwyn waited, and listened, which was much better for discovering the goings on. I'm the leader? Cool. Also, Demonfey is in here with us. As for whether or not we're in the same "universe", I have no idea. It seems like we're in the same place since we're interacting with one another. But, I'm not sure so I'd like that cleared up as well. Dyne converses quietly with one of the other investigators from the Council of Archmages, and he nods his head to him. "Jarlaxle, I would like to know more about this rothe hair. Is it known for anything particularly unique? Is it used for something, perhaps rope?" |
| thasis11-10-04, 06:49 PM | What is this so-called rothe. Is it a creature. If so I have never heard of it. Thasis the Good walks up to Jarlaxe and says "If you tell me what everything you know I will personally make sure that any crimes you have commited over the years will be erased from any sort of files or reports. Just tell me what you know". He then looks very serious. |
| Demonfey11-10-04, 06:52 PM | Anglar shared this with me: Each guild is working on a murder in a side plane. They do not work together unless they want to, and don't share the same murders. That means that the information posted here about the murders is completely useless for other guilds. :P I am with the Guild of Evil Children of the Planes and Council of Archmages Each is at the same point in the investigation, more or less. Also, I have information that pertains to each from the other two, because they do have some things in common. Droga is working with me on one part, and Dyne is working with me in a separate part. I have determined what information is for who, and am now ready to rejoin. And Droga, WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SPECIES?! I just want to know, because it sounds so damn cool! Give us a name for it. Oh, and a rothe is basically the underdark version of a cow, or other large farm animal that can be eaten. |
| Dyne11-10-04, 07:09 PM | And Droga, WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SPECIES?! I just want to know, because it sounds so damn cool! Give us a name for it. He posted it for his character in the Player Character and Statistics thread. Oh, and a rothe is basically the underdark version of a cow, or other large farm animal that can be eaten. Actually, Anglar compared it to a sheep, but same basic thing. Rothe are big animals used for meat. |
| Droga11-10-04, 07:21 PM | And Droga, WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SPECIES?! I just want to know, because it sounds so damn cool! Give us a name for it. I did post it with my character on the stats thread, but I'll tell you here anyway. Droga is a skygge elder, Skygge are creatures that live on a demiplane kind of thing called Dromkar. It borders the shadow plane. Elders are Skygge that bear the most resemblance, in power and appearance to their origional forms. Since all skygge but Droga the Lightbane (their "god") are weakened versions. Droga is both a name and a title. All Skygge clan leaders are named Droga, with the title of their clan after it. In this case: Droga of the Black Fang clan. The title of Droga is an honor amoung their people, because it links them more closely to their master. |
| anglar11-10-04, 07:48 PM | Actually, Anglar compared it to a sheep, but same basic thing. Rothe are big animals used for meat. They're more like sheep, if for no other reason than they are sheared of their hair at certain points of time during a year and the hair is spun for a number of uses, including a crude rope. CLUE ALERT |

For a quick bio, I am a half elf/half demon crossbreed that later took full levels of elemental savant (fire) and has a healthy interest in grafts, mainly because the years on the Prime, Abyss, and the Blood Wars have not been kind to him, although strangely enough, his stay in Hell was quite hospitable. |
| baerdith11-10-04, 11:48 PM | Bard 12/Archmage 3, Not to be smarmy but one of the prereqs for Archmage is ability to cast 7th level spells (12th level Bards can't do that) Dyne share the clues (PM is fine) Baerdith looks around and says "867-5309" and his eyes glaze over.He then seems to react to another presence. In fact, Bard spells only go up to 6th level spells. Baerdith looks around and says "867-5309" and his eyes glaze over. That sounds like your phone number or something. Dyne share the clues (PM is fine) All right. Let me find all the stuff.... By-the-way, Demonfey, keep helping me at the rothe herding island. We need to find out who is behind shaving the rothe. |
| Sssargoth11-11-04, 12:25 AM | That sounds like your phone number or something. I beleve that it is a refrence to a song from the 80's. The theme of it was that a guy met a girl, she gave him her phone number and the number was 867-5309. I'm probably the only person under 30 to know that... :twitch: :twitch: |
| Fuzzy Logic Inc.11-11-04, 01:02 AM | I think I've gotten back to everyone. If not, please post so I can. Hm, I didn't receive any word on the outcome of my spells or anything else for that matter, can I assume they failed? So... The Thane thuroughly inspects the body before looking up at the eye-patched drow. Smoothing out his moustache and beard, the dwarf begins speaking. "A terrible act, indeed. Who is the deceased? I would they are of some import to be left unidentifiable. Did they have any known enemies? What... House... did they belong to and what manner of business did they conduct? Does the deceased have any known associates that might have an idea of what happened here?" |

| anglar11-11-04, 01:56 AM | Droga grinned at the drow. Down boy. Your master and better bids it. |
| De Batavier11-11-04, 02:11 PM | He ponders on the things Xillian has said Looks around and asks Xillian how can one get to this island, shave a rothe and not get noticed by you? Under what circumstances did these things happen? Didn't you notices anything? Don't the rothe walk away from strangers or make alarm sounds? Are these rothe owned by a particulair house? |
| turalisj11-11-04, 04:47 PM | "well", the elf whispers at jarlaxe, " i suppose there is no need to hide my form. unless, of coure, we can meet an agreement." remember, my guy is also a bronze dragon. :D and he has elf's as a favored enemy so for all you know that could be a bag of buffalo chips. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-11-04, 05:45 PM | None of the Drow Houses have even been brought up in the Council of Archmages' case. And I have no idea what the Fourth House is. It seems like our case does not involve any of that. I'd be surprised if they weren't involved. It's atypical for intrigue to go unaccounted for by one of the Houses. I'd check if I were you - to see. There are some similarities that cut across all the murders and some differences, it seems. If I read this right, I think we can all help each other while solving our own at the same time. And it may be that they are *all* linked in some way not yet anticipated. Anglar's been doing this for a long time everyone - he's trixy. In any case - I'm off to visit the Fourth House - if I can, and I would like company. Sil reflects inwardly as she studies the inner Sanctum of the City, where the Dark Mythal's power radiates waves of Abomination into the aether. She feels a wave of nausea come upon her as she watches it - and a vision comes to you of lurid, screaming white skinned creatures. Their gaunt features, sunken sockets and foul, thin hair are diseased. You see the cities of the Surface burned and ruined, and great fires towering into the night sky as the Legions of Drow stamp their feet at hoot at the ruin of the earth. The Rary's Telepathic Bond is for Dyne+Turalisj+thasis+KoE+Droga and for anyone else who is interested in a trip into Menzoberranzan's heart - sil talks in hushed whispers, sharing her intention with you as her burning focussed eyes wander between Jarlaxe and you and as she draws on the ground before you. She beckons to Jarlaxe - to come and see what is intended..... [/Telepathy]....Krella is missing - and where there is secret or absent Matron Mothers, there it is as they say "where there's smoke there's fire". Come, who will attend the Inner Sanctum of the City.[/Telephathy] Jarlaxe - can you get us inside the city? Notes to DM 1. A sending to Krella! Contingency If no reply from her - alert Jarlaxe. If reply is forthcoming - we'd still like to venture into the city and Sil will ask Krella Krella! Do you have a message for Jarlaxe. I seek audience with your House - I may be of aid EDIT: I keep calling 8-6-7-5-3-0-9ee-ine - |
| Fuzzy Logic Inc.11-11-04, 06:30 PM | Fuzzy, clean out your PM box. Done and done. I wasn't aware that the message limit for this site was so... small.. |
| Dyne11-11-04, 06:35 PM | "Jarlaxle, I seek information concerning the various Drow Houses. It has come to my attention that 3 of the 8 houses dislike the idea of open trade with outlanders. I would like to know the names of the 8 houses, as well as which 3 houses are against open trade." Sil, who's Krella? And who's Menzoberranzan? What is the Fourth House, and how is it involved here? |
| baerdith11-11-04, 07:51 PM | HAH! That's Tommy Tutone. "867-5309/Jenny" and I'm only 28. For a real challenge, 634-5789. Back soon with on-topic posts. Keerect! Well now, that would be Otis Redding. Baerdith shakes his head a bit, turns to Dyne and proclaims : "The Victim WAS murdered, the Killer is still in the city, there is a way to determine the killer's identity on the body, but there is no spell that can identify the killer." |
| anglar11-11-04, 10:06 PM | Anglar's been doing this for a long time everyone - he's trixy. Now I'm a hobbit and you're Gollum, Gollum. OPEN STATEMENT - It is Houses 3, 6, and 7 that are opposed to the trade agreements soley because you are all Outlanders, non-Drow. It is only because of the other Houses that there has been no open hostility owards you, yet. In some way or another for everyone, Krella is a priestess of Lloth from the 4th House who supposed to be on a mission for the City. Menzoberranza is it's name. @Baerdith - you will note that the answers you got had more than a hint of confusion in their tone. |
| Demonfey11-11-04, 10:07 PM | What is the name of the first house? |
| Sssargoth11-11-04, 10:21 PM | Baerdith shakes his head a bit, turns to Dyne and proclaims : "The Victim WAS murdered, the Killer is still in the city, there is a way to determine the killer's identity on the body, but there is no spell that can identify the killer." I assume that you mean that you can't ID the victim. That is a shame, because us psionicests have identified the victim whos murder we are investigating. I could tell you if you like. :smirk: |
| anglar11-11-04, 10:36 PM | What is the name of the first house? Melee`yon |
| Dyne11-11-04, 10:43 PM | Dyne consults with his fellow Archmages of the Council, and he approaches Jarlaxle. "Jarlaxle, can you tell me about House Melee'yon? Also, I would like to be taken there. It seems we have business to discuss with them." Baerdith shakes his head a bit, turns to Dyne and proclaims : "The Victim WAS murdered, the Killer is still in the city, there is a way to determine the killer's identity on the body, but there is no spell that can identify the killer." I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Let's discuss this at the Council. |
| anglar11-11-04, 11:30 PM | Dyne consults with his fellow Archmages of the Council, and he approaches Jarlaxle. "Jarlaxle, can you tell me about House Melee'yon? Also, I would like to be taken there. It seems we have business to discuss with them." House Melee'yon only came into power about 100 years ago. It seems that about a thousand years ago it was 1st House, but was attacked on the day of a ritual to Lloth the went wrong because their own Wizard-lord had pruposely delayed the resetting of the time tower by a few second per day so that the ritual would actually fall a day short. During the attack, the Wizard-lord fled to the surface. He was presumed dead, and the house whose name is now no longer worth mentioning took power. Well, a little over 100 years ago a High Elf with some Drow heritage came here. It turned out he was the grandson of the same Wizard-lord. Also, the Wizard-lord was still alive, and presumably still is now. Well, by Drow law, since he was a surviving noble member of the House, he brought charges against the then 1st House. By Lloth's decree, that house was utterly destroyed. Except for the 3rd Daughter who took the mantle as Matron Melee`yon. It is believed she had an affair with the grandson, and some think that Crellson, her Half-Drow son, is actually the son of that mixed blood and not the slave it was purported to be, which would explain a lot. |
| turalisj11-11-04, 11:40 PM |      |
| Dyne11-11-04, 11:47 PM | "What has been going on with House Melee'yon lately? Are there any strange reports from those of that House? And what do you know of a Vampire of House Melee'yon? |
| Droga11-11-04, 11:53 PM | I wasnt here for the early part of this, but has anybody cast detect magic on the guild of evil corpse. If so, was there any magic on the corpse, if not, I'll do it now and take a look myself. |
| turalisj11-11-04, 11:53 PM | and does jarlaxe have any response to my "threat"? |
| anglar11-11-04, 11:57 PM |      Simple way: House A is 1st House 1000 years ago. House B attempts to destroy House A and take place as 1st House. House B is blieved to be successful, but a lone Noble from House A survives but flees. 100 years ago, grandosn of surviving member of House A returns followed soon by the uctual surviving member of House A. House B is charged with the one true crime of Drow society, FAILURE. House B, with the exception of its 3rd Daughter is destroyed by all other Houses. 3rd Daughter of House B takes mantle as Matron of House A. Most believe that Half-Drow 2nd son of House A is actually son of mysterious grandson and not that of the slave it is publically said to be. During past 100 years House A has brought new order to Menzoberranza and has lead the charge of opening up the trade with foundations and societies outside of the Underdark. Bregan was truned into a vampire by Lloth about three months ago, which is a symbol of being in Lloth's favor. For quite a while many practically threw themselves at him to be a "victim" of his. Few are certain of his feeding habits of late. OOC - I am a hobbit and then some. @ Turalisj - "I could use a good rug." He says as he runs his hand across his perfectly bald head. @ Droga - No magic |
| Dyne11-12-04, 12:24 AM | "What is the name of the surviving member of House Melee'yon who survived the attack on his House a thousand years ago?" |

| Dyne11-12-04, 06:46 PM | Maxa, Grandfather of He Who Is Death. "He Who Is Death.... That's the noble who came back and restored House Melee'yon. Is it true that he left to hunt Vampires? And why is he called 'He Who Is Death'?" The Elf paces for a moment. "I repeat myself, can you take me to House Melee'yon? I have business to discuss there." |
| Droga11-12-04, 07:34 PM | Droga taps his chin in thought. Something wasn't adding up about this whole thing... He raises what would be an eyebrow if he had one and gets up from a sitting position. Walking over toward Jarlaxle, leaning close to his ear. Droga whispers something to him, then moves back a bit and looks into the little creature's eyes. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-12-04, 09:22 PM | just a quick OoG post - before by IG post. Ang may not be back to us before next Monday. So - we can expect replies by then. *looks upstream* I love what I'm seeing here - congrats everyone. Some very clever inquiries. I think the best question goes to Dyne - seeking the name "Maxa" - he who is death..... And Sssargoth us psionicests have identified the victim whos murder we are investigating. I could tell you if you like. see next post. |
| turalisj11-12-04, 09:42 PM | hey sil, could you share the half-elf guilds clues? oh and, "well, you'll have your sking for a throw rug when i am done with you. unless, of course, you give me the answers i seek. and do not lie to me, i am getting very hungry and you migh be my next meal. turalisj whipsers to jarlaxe, his voice full of menace. threats, something all drow know and use in everyday converse. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-12-04, 09:46 PM | I wasnt here for the early part of this, but has anybody cast detect magic on the guild of evil corpse. If so, was there any magic on the corpse, if not, I'll do it now and take a look myself. Not to my knowledge. We've made some attempts to speak with dead, I think - and we've done spellcraft checks. It seems that the bodies features were burned away with acid. A post I received in my PM box could be read to suggest that he was "charmed" or beguiled - in the last moments. Makes me think "vampire". But, it may well be that the vampire was only doing what he was told by a Matron Mother. hope this helps stav |
| Droga11-12-04, 09:53 PM | Well, I don't really think your information has anything to do with the guild of ultimate evil though. Since the murders are all supposed to be different and in different places. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-12-04, 09:57 PM | hey sil, could you share the half-elf guilds clues? oh and, Hi there Turalij - I've been pretty transparent about Half-Elven materials. I'll summarise them for you and everyone though :) 1. Krella is our corpse - I believe - who is a Matron Mother of the 4th House. But apparently, she's on some mission in Menzoberranzan and "cannot be contacted for three days". Anglar said "Krella has no daughters, but is, or was, the fouth daughter of the 4th House, whose Matron is Yeillio." 2. All the same stuff about Jarlaxe's eye patch and his hyped-up mega-magiced items. 3. Houses 3, 6, and 7 that are opposed to the trade agreements soley because you are all Outlanders, non-Drow. It is only because of the other Houses that there has been no open hostility owards you. NOTE the 3rd and 5th House are Enemies of the 4th. 4. 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 8th Houses, along with the merchant and mining guilds are supporters of the Trade Agreement. Again, the 1st house comes up. Ergo - I therefore suspect that the murderer comes from the 3rd House. Although, I could well be wrong, because, we've got all that suff about Maxa and the first house. And our corspe ""She was found by the Temple of Lloth in the center of the city. I'll take you to the site when you are ready. It has been contained by my own people, if that is supposed to make you feel better." regards stav |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-12-04, 09:59 PM | Well, I don't really think your information has anything to do with the guild of ultimate evil though. Since the murders are all supposed to be different and in different places. The same but different all at once - I suspect. We're supposed to support each other - by sharing information, I think :) There is shared history behind all of the murders. regards stav |
| Solmund11-13-04, 06:05 PM | an elf walks in. on his left shoulder is a celestial falcon. | Bait the Bard11-13-04, 07:10 PM | Scince Anglar hasn't replies to my PM yet, I'm just going to assume it goes ahead as said, and Jarlaxe will take me to the dodgier areas of the city. - - - - - - - - - - - - The twisting alleys of the darker, shadier areas of the drow city were empty at this time, though only appearing empty, for behind closed doors dodgy trade deals were made, secret alliances made and broken, and a flourishing slave trade was active at all hours. Occasionally a drow would been seen heading down a dark alleys, at a fast pace, and all knew it was best to leave everyone to their own devices here. There were a number of so called inns scattered about the district, more a front for slave trade and prostitution, though any for a person could be found there, from killers for hire to black market trade, and anyone in between. This was the place were first deals or contracts were made, before being taken to a more private place to finish the deal, or expand apon it. People were careful not to notice who was talking to whom, more a display of self protection than privacy. Delwyn pushed open the door to one of these main 'inns', and went in, with Jarlaxe following. Delwyn himself was disguised as a drow, and both had their hoods pulled up so they would not be recognised. The inside of the 'inn' was quite large, and tabacco smoke filled the rafters, from a number of pipes that were being smoked around the room. The room was full, though a number of empty tables were around, and the barman, obviously sporting several weapons, made rounds of his patrons, seeing to their needs. Jarlaxe led Delwyn to one of the empty tables, and they sat, Delwyn leaning in toward him, curious: "So, whom here is the one you said would be most amiable to a good deal, even with outlanders?" Jarlaxe leaned foward, and, in a quiet voice, replied.. |
| Sssargoth11-13-04, 08:31 PM | an elf teleports in. only a member of the drow royal family can teleport within the mythal, dude. your not a member of that family, so, NO TELEPORT FOR YOU. Two weeks! :P |
| Agudo Archmage11-13-04, 09:01 PM | Standing up from the decaying body. The long blond haired Wizard, smiles at the ever-growing verity of on lookers and helpers alike. “My, my indeed, it would seem we have more investigators than dead bodies.” The Archmage of Light chuckles as he leans his head over to whisper in Lady Hoot’s ear. “I do believe the situation here is under control and in competent hands.” Fluttering her snow white feathers gently she nods her head in agreement. “Yes many have come forward to offers their wise insights. I think this murder will soon be resolved quickly.” As he took few puffs on his corncob pipe that filled the air with the sweet smell apple cinnamon Agudo winked at his knowledgeable friend, before speaking to the large group around them.. “I can see that this great gathering of beings, shall soon deduct the circumstances of this tragic death. And if that is the case? Then I and my wise companion Lady Hoot, shall depart to better serve the Archmage Guild in those magical halls” Giving a small bow he adds as he slowly vanishes in a haze of his own pip smoke. “May the Light guide you all my powerful colleagues” |
| king_of_evil00711-14-04, 12:51 AM | KoE begins questioning Jarlaxle. "What is the name of the victim, and her house? | turalisj11-14-04, 01:07 AM | oog: ooooooh, im so jelous! better watch it or an acid arrow might go into your face.... as everyone examines the corpse, an elf and 2 half elf slink in. they each wield a diffrent weapon, but each bear the same standard on either their shields or their clothes, a bronze dragon holding a drow. "sorry we are late turalisj, we ahd a hard time getting here." one of them says. "very good, i will not question why you where late, but we must get working." the elf ranger replies to the newcomers as they examine the room. |
| De Batavier11-15-04, 02:14 PM | case: Psionic Foundation Thank you for your answers Xillian. He turns to Jarlaxe Have there been more reports of a strange fog? In particulair on the night of the murder. This Krella from the fourth house seems to have a connection with the Rothe. Have they anything to do with the mission she and the victim were on? Starts to write his findings in a small notebook. Is there a way to contact others on the mission of which the victim was a part? Takes a small crystal from a pouch and starts talking to it Sssargoth have you made progress. I'm on the rothe island. Strange things have been happening there. The Elf paces for a moment. "I repeat myself, can you take me to House Melee'yon? I have business to discuss there." "He is the grandson of the Noble who restored House Melee`yon. He could not qualify by our rules as a noble. He is called "He Who Is Death" because because he called himself that, and he proved it. Better than half the city's population died as a result of the civil war he rought upon us here. As for taking you before Matron Melee`yon, I can arrange that." |
| Solmund11-15-04, 10:06 PM | i make a arcane knowledge check after casting detect magic on jarlaxes eye patch to try and identify what magic it is. the elf mutters what seems to most as non sense. he looks at jarlaxe inquistivly, specificly the eye patch. |
| Dyne11-15-04, 10:11 PM | "He is the grandson of the Noble who restored House Melee`yon. I thought you said Maxa was the Drow who survived the attack on House Melee'yon a thousand years ago. You said he was the grandfather of He Who is Death. The Drow who survived the attack on House Melee'yon a thousand years ago had a grandson, and he's the one who restored the House. Now, I'm totally . Is Maxa from the original House Melee'yon, the sole-survivor from the attack a thousand years ago, or is he the Noble grandson who restored the House Melee'yon? |
| anglar11-15-04, 10:14 PM | KoE begins questioning Jarlaxle. "What is the name of the victim, and her house? Within that house, does she have any enemies, and what position does she inhabit? Does she have any known enemies, or did she do something noteworthy lately? And have any other odd events been happening? "Enemies? She is the Duaghter of a Matron Mother, of course she has enemies. Though actually only from her older sisters, as she is the youngest of the House. It was somewhat of a shock that she was chosen to lead the mission she is on, seeing as it was believed that many other would be most likely choice. As for odd events, you mean other than having Outlanders travel throughout the city as full citizens?" |
| Solmund11-15-04, 10:18 PM | WHY AM I BEING IGNORED!!!! THATS TWICE NOW! |
| anglar11-15-04, 10:20 PM | I thought you said Maxa was the Drow who survived the attack on House Melee'yon a thousand years ago. You said he was the grandfather of He Who is Death. Is Maxa from the original House Melee'yon, the sole-survivor from the attack a thousand years ago, or is he the Noble grandson who restored the House Melee'yon? Maxa is the Noble who survived the attack back than and the Noble who restored House Melee`yon. His grandson came back before him to make preparations. "He Who Is Death" has yet to actually be named, though you all know who he is. |

Sorry, but I do have a lot under my hat. Your dispell magic spell fizzles and pops and sputters "It's not nice to try to undo things for which you have no business meddling in, Outlander Elf. You'll find that I am quite well protected, against a great many things. Also, you should know that in my line of business that one should be prepared for just about anything. My patch keeps me from being subjugated by mind control spells and the such. It also keep nasty mages and clerics out of my mind, something that is very helpful, again, in my line of work." |

| anglar11-15-04, 11:19 PM | "hmm, and also usefull if someone wanted to find out the truth about who killed this drow, if you have any information in that dark mind of yours" he says, his voice almost emotionless and flat." do you know who would have wanted to kill him? i dont mean just those who would want his position. i mean officials he may have angered or perhaps he hasn't paying respect to lolth before his death" "The shorter list may be the Nobles who didn't want him dead. He wasn't a pureblood, so many saw him as an abomination. It is only at Matron Melee`yon insistance that he is accepted to the degree that he is by most. Which of course feeds directly the belief that he is the son of 'Inye na qualme.' She loved him so." |
| anglar11-15-04, 11:29 PM | "Then take me to Matron Melee'yon, as soon as possible." Jarlaxle leads you to the gates of House Melee`yon. The guards make a motion to halt your progress, but Jarlaxle merely waves his hands and they retake their positions. "I hope you know what you're going to say," Jarlaxle warns. After the main doors are opened for you, Jarlaxle leads the way to the center of the complex. On a raised throne sits Matron Melee`yon. She appears troubled, angry, and somewhat sad. "Yes, Jarlaxle, what do you want this time?" "I bring you, Dyne. He has some questions which he must ask you if he and his guild are to solve the murder in due time." "What do you need to know versus what do you want to know, Lord Dyne?" |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-16-04, 08:42 AM | OK - hi everyone. I've had a think about this. "Jarlaxe" Silmarien snaps - before softening her mein and straightening her robes "I have two matron mothers to visit Jarlaxe - and the temple site where the body was found. I have two hypotheses so far: 1. While houses 3, 6 and 7 are opposed to the Trade agreements, only the 3rd is an enemy of the fourth house (and Krella is dead, I surmise). Accordingly, by process of elimination, I would like to speak to all members of the 3rd house at a meeting. If you could arrange that - I would be very grateful. 2. My second hypothesis is weaker. If Maxa has a motive for vengeance, it would not be at the 4th house but at Drow in general. But it makes no sense, because the first House is re-instated as - well the FIRST house, so I can't see why the First House are in such a bad mood - basically - they've got everything they want. Also, it makes no sense that the first house would oppose the Trade agreements, because they have been pivotal in getting us this far. However, the assumption here - is that all members of the 1st house are unanimous. Therefore, I would like to visit the First House as well. She paces the room and without looking at Jarlaxe - by Rary's Telepathic Bond "Be ready to help me if Jarlaxe proves false. We might need to, erm, encourage him to remove his eye patch by primitive means". @King of Evil+Dyne+all I'm off to Two Houses and the murder scene. Who will attend. @Anglar 1. Two visits to two reverend mothers 2. A visit to the murder scene and 3. Ang, what of the SURVIVING Matron Mother from House "B"? @All - can anyone Detect a Vampires Taint in a dead body???? Ie. do our dead victims have vampire saliva on them? WHILST AT THESE MEETINGS - WE NEED OUR KICKEST ASS-EST DETECT LIE, AND ALL THAT READY TO GO. stav |

These are my wants, but they may turn into needs, depending on the answers I receive." You can talk to Bregan, but Crellson is gone on the same mission as Krella. You can discuss his feeding habits with him. Maxa Melee`yon was Grand Wizard of House Melee`yon. When his third nephew was born, his name escapes history, it was then the custom that the third sons of the Houses be sacrificed when they reached age 50 on the anniversary of their birth. Since Maxa was in charge of casting the spell that served as our timepiece, it was in a way in his hands when it happened. He prepared it so that each day a few seconds were lost. When it was believed to be the day a sacrifice, it was actually one full day later. The 2nd House of the time knew this for Lloth had told them so. Why Maxa deliberately made the ceremony fail is still unknown. What is known is that on the day after the then 2nd House attacked House Melee`yon and thought they had wiped them out. Maxa had escaped to the surface. He went on to marry a High Elf and they had a daughter, the mother of He Who Is Death. About 100 years ago He Who Is Death came to Menzoberannza with a trade caravan. He was arrested for some crime or another and taken before the then 1st House. It was there that he revealed that he was of Noble Drow line, but would only say that it was of a house no longer worth mentioning. He befriended the now Matron Melee`yon for she was very curious about the surface world. Within four tendays, Maxa Melee`yon returned with an army of human soldiers, lead by the father of a friend of He Who Is Death. When Maxa revealed who he truly was, the other Houses were bound by Drow law to help in the total destruction of that house, restoring House Melee`yon to 1st House. He Who Is Death spared the life of the now Matron Melee`yon and Maxa adopted her into his family. Many of the other House were enraged by this and it was thought that House Melee`yon would not stand long, but then Maxa erected the Mythal which makes Matron Melee`yon all but untouchable. Even though half the city was razed in the subsequent revolt, most from House Melee`yon walked out with even a scratch. It was wise of them to only kill the noble members of the former house and leave everyone else to resume their duties. In a way, it is very much like Clarissa simply killed her mother, sisters, and brothers, and simply took the House for herself. If she hadn't changed the House name, it would be no different, just much bolder. |
| Dyne11-17-04, 12:15 AM | "Exactly what is this mission Krella and Crellson were sent on? And Clarissa is Matron Melee'yon, correct? And do you have any idea who this person is that was murdered? Is there someone from House Melee'yon that was reported missing? And, please take me to Bregan as soon as possible." The elf starts to pace, becoming slightly impatient. He had been investigating the murder for quite some time, and it felt like he was barely getting anywhere. |

"The nature of the mission that Krella and Crellson and others are on is of no concern to you or business of yours or anyone else's except for the Matron Mothers. As I have said before, the identity of the deceased is a mystery because no one has been reported missing. Everyone has been accounted for with the exception of those on the mission, and they cannot be contacted. If this leads to to presume that the deceased is one of them, then I can find no fault in that conclusion. I have sent a message to Bregan, and he has agreed to meet you in our newly opened chapter of The Blue Lizard Inn as soon as you arrive." |
| Bait the Bard11-17-04, 02:56 AM | Jarlaxe led Delwyn to one of the empty tables, and they sat, Delwyn leaning in toward him, curious: "So, whom here is the one you said would be most amiable to a good deal, even with outlanders?" Jarlaxe leaned foward, and, in a quiet voice, replied.. ;) Just trying to refresh anglar's memory.. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-17-04, 04:33 PM | Psionic case: ooc: I'm assuming we can share information on cases to solve the greater plot. If not disregard the following. Greetings Sil. We of the psionic foundation are investigating a murder of a person who was on the same mission as Krella, a second son of the first house if our information is correct. The effect that rothe were missing hair. We like the cooparate with you and share any future information we gain. Silmarien bows before the Psions - and looks up smiling and says "Your suggestion is well received and I do not forget acts of generosity. The Half-Elves will recall this moment in your moment of need. Therefore - our answer is "yes". I am seeing that there are close alignments between these murderous activities. While it is true that someone could have planted the evidence (the Rothe hair) and not on Rothe Island - and Drow have been known to be that cunning - however - it would seem the Rothe Island is somehow closely allied to the murders. She pauses When Silmarien hears "A second son of the First house" she gasps - "surely it can't be the one who was turned into a vampire - was he not from the First House? A 'reward' from Lolth. He would be jealous of his 'brother'. But - again it makes no sense. The First House supports trade......" and her eyes widen as she adds "Krella AND Crellson are HER SON are both dead who were ON THE SAME MISSION." Silmarien says to J. "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE THIRD NEPHEW of Melee Yon?" who - would very much have a motive for these atrocities, and WAS the Fourth House Pivotal in destroying the First House? She then muses to herself, upon receipt of word from J. - inviting communications with the Matron Mothers of the First and Third Houses. She gets out her quill and her most expensive Ink, whose lustre is a balm to the eye Matron Mother, It is a strange thing for a Half High Elf to come to Menzoberranzan, and it must be received by you with concern. It would be foolish of me to think that even those who support the Trade Agreement would be pleased to see one of my blood here - to disrupt the peace of the city. This may seem insincere to you, but I actually understand why you would want privacy from the High Elves and even though in some ways, we do not share political or spiritual beliefs, I am mature enough to be able to respect you for holding beliefs dissimilar to those of the Pereldar and our Halls above. If it were the case that I need to agree with everything everyone ever says, I would have no allies, no friends, no husband, no children, no place of residence and no life. Therefore, please accept my gratitude for your tolerance of us here in your city - and I say in truth that Menzoberranzan in truly beautiful and majestic. I write to you about the series of murders that have occurred - and would seek audience with you both - that I may assist in the purpose of resolving the mytery. For, those of you who are not responsible, I know, would be comfortable meeting with me in order to resolve the murders. For the death of these Drow - is a great threat to Open Trade. I further suspect that it is Krella and Crellson who have been felled. I understand that these two are supposed to be on a mission, but I do not think that they live. While I could be wrong - much points at my conclusions thus far. I would seek your Counsel - with DeBatavier and possible one or two others. Would you meet with us? Your Servant Silmarien (Custodian of Silverstarfire) Note my use of words "those of you who have not contributed to the murder" it's deliberate. If one of them knows what has happened, the letter will force their hand. |

| anglar11-18-04, 03:14 AM | "Matron Melee'yon, what do you know about Krella? What is her relation to Crellson? Is she in any way connected to Maxa or He Who is Death?" "Krella is the 4th Duaghter of the 4th House, somewhat ironic, I know. She was chosen to lead a mission that is of vital imporatnce to the future of Menzoberanza. Crellson is my son, and he was part of the mission. She has no connection with either Maxa or Anglar. In a way, Maxa is my father which makes Anglar my nephew now. Though I would never think to treat him as such. 'He Who Is Death'" she chuckles. "I find it amazing that the citizenry still cling to the old superstitions and worry so about him. It's not like he's going to raze the city again." |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-18-04, 03:56 AM | This is what Anglar told me while I was working on multiple corpses: The corpses are in different sub dimensions unique to each guild house. Clues for one aren't necessarily connected to others. Also, the corpses are not connected in any way, because they are not in the same dimensions. yes - but that doesn't stop us working together - and in fact, I think there may be points for working together. So - I'm happy to help others on their corpse - and I would like company while I visit the Dark Mythal. Two heads are better than one. From Anglar - Jarlaxle explains, "In the eyes of the Drow society, being turned into a vampire is a blessing for the life of a vampire is very much like what Lloth wants of the Drow, to feed on those weaker than you becuase you can. It was Clarissa's first son, Bregan, who was changed, not Crellson. Also, Clarissa has yet to give birth to a third son. Why this is, I have no idea. But, a meeting with Clarissa has been is prudent, so I will lead the way." (OOG share this with who you want) Jarlaxle leads you into the center of House Melee`yon, a giagantic chamber that could probably hold 1/4 of the city's Drow. In the back center is a raised throne, upon which sits the Matron of House Melee`yon. She seems rather happy to see you. "Welcome, Silmarien and guests. I understand that you wish to speak with me, and I wish to speak with you as well. But I must correct you on one thing. I do not tolerate your presence here. I welcome it. If I did not, you would not be here, at least in your present openness. Be at ease, please. It is my desire to see this city grow beyond the caverns of The Underdark and stretch out to the surface and beyond. A good friend of mine showed me that closed-mindedness is a dangerous way to live." "Now, to the business at hand of the murder. I am certain that Jarlaxle has cooperated with you in every way. If he has not, then he will do as he was instructed." She leers at Jarlaxle for a moment before returning her face to a pleasant smile and to you. "I am sorry that I cannot aid you any further upon your quest. If it is true that Krella and Crellson have fallen, than I am saddened. I trust you will do everything you can to discover the true nature of what has happened and you have my full confidence and support." "If you require anything else, I am here." As you turn to leave "By the way, Silmarien, do say hello to Anglar for me. I am sorry he could not join you. It would have been a real treat to have him back in the city, though I'm certain he hasn't spoken of his time here to you. Very private, isn't he?" |
| Dyne11-18-04, 04:21 AM | Anglar. In a way, Maxa is my father which makes Anglar my nephew now. Though I would never think to treat him as such. 'He Who Is Death'" she chuckles. "I find it amazing that the citizenry still cling to the old superstitions and worry so about him. It's not like he's going to raze the city again." "Anglar is the one called He Who is Death?" and I would like company while I visit the Dark Mythal. Two heads are better than one. I'll go. If we get attacked, even better. :fight!: |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-18-04, 04:26 AM | Silmarien smiles back at Matron Mother Melee'yon - and says to her "it is because Anglar can be who he truly is - not what he once needed to be - that he chose to be with me Matron Mother. For he is of the line of Angrolachon - and well he recalls his forebear's valour - whence Angrolachon did Sing with Angelina after the Last High Elven King was slain and whece the Ellaedun was conceived at the Heart Fires. Your generosity is well received. And we honour the Giver by Accepting the Gift. And we look to the day that the Drow walk under the sunlight and beyond the reach of Shadow and in the image of their Creator. Long may you live - and at Peredhil Halls - my halls - you shall be ever welcome. May the Silverstarfire guide you on your journey!" She clicks the Runestaff onto the ground - and lauches a brief pulse of the Peredhil SilveryAzure fires into the airs. It is only a decorative form - and she paints the ceiling with iridescent twinkling lights - and just for a short moment and not so bright that it would hurt Drow eyes. @Jarlaxle She turns back to Jarlaxle - 1. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE THIRD NEPHEW of Melee Yon?" who - would very much have a motive for these atrocities, and 2. WAS the Fourth House Pivotal in destroying the First House? "Jarlaxle! Take me to the site where the body was found!" EDIT: DYNE!! EDIT: Note - the THIRD HOUSE did *not* accept the invitation - and so ...... 3. JARLAXLE - what can you tell me of the THIRD HOUSE. |

Don't get too distracted by the combat at the Arena. Remember - we're about to get Foundation Stats - and to use such defences, you need resources. Enjoy "I can accept that Anglar's path was not with me. I am more sorry for his loss than you may believe. And as grevious as it was, I have a deeper regret where he is concerned. You are aware of the ring on his right hand, the one that prevents him from truly ever dying? It is cursed by Lloth herself so that he must endure the memories of his losses. It bit into his hand and is locked there for near on a thoudand years. I am grieved because I was the one who slid it on his finger. He didn't wince or show any emotion except for pity. I am grateful they Tyr sought to intervene some on his behalf. Lloth cackled in joy." She turnst to DeBatavier and Dyne and says (and all those en-route to the Dark Mythal) "it would seem Anglar has old ties with the Underdark. And those include Matron Mother Melee'yon. We should summon Anglar to us to discuss this. Silmarien sends this sending to Anglar "husband - would you come and speak with us here - to help us understand the mystery". Jarlaxale said "There has never been a third nephew of Melee`yon. I don't know why you keep asking. Clarissa has only had the two sons." "When House Melee`yon retook its place as 1st House, every other House simply closed its doors and hoped to be spared, and of course watched with glee from their balconies. The death rained down by Maxa, Anglar, and that human and his army was terriffically terrible. Half the buildings in the city were toppled. Blood flooded the streets for days. It was an orgy of Drow existance. Then he, Maxa, shocked everyone by revealing that only the nobles of the house whose name is no longer worth mentioning except for Clarissa were killed. Many feared that Lloth had abandoned us all. But then Maxa erected the Mythal." Jarlaxle continues to lead you to the center of the city. You can see a gigantic building with eight sections, built much to look like a giant spider, that extend from the main section. The doors to the Temple are located and designed so that you look as if you are walking into the mouth of the spider. Jarlaxle stops at the doors. "The body was dumped here." |

| Silmarien Aldalome11-23-04, 08:06 AM | and.....Anglar to Silmarien "I suppose you want to hear from the horse's mouth wht I did here. Some time back I ventured down here with a trade caravan. I had traced the vampire family that had destroyed my family to here. It was then that Maxa told me exactly about howand why he left the Underdark. To make a long story short, I arrived, shocked the living daylights out of them by being of Noble Drow blood, survived being turned into a drider, got this ring put on me by Clarissa," holds up his right hand, "Maxa arrived with Barbarous Slaythings (Castor Troy's adopted father and major Thayan General) and his army, established just who he was, we tore most of the city down, Maxa spared Clarissa, adopted her, erected the Mythal, Maxa left, and then I left." "You pretty much know anything important between then and now." "Anything I can get specific on?" She takes comfort from the presence of Anglar - and she leans on him, while she sweeps creases out of the folds of her robes. She says "Clarissa seemed quite reasonable actually - almost genuine. Still - Drow are wont to be deceptive. It would seem that Clarissa is not an enemy. But - what of the Third House - is it hostile to the First and do you know anything about it. They have been silent. Do they use Rothe more than other houses? It was good of you to come Anglar, I am very appreciative." She looks around, where Drow watch them in hostile restraint. She shudders - imagining the worst. OK Everyone 1. Maxa and Anglar are friends. 2. Rothe rope was used to bind the victim 3. The *murderer* was 1) Drow 2) Male 3) 247 4) NE/CN 5) fashioned it into a rope taken directly from rothe Sil turns to Jarlaxle and says "How many Drow are there in the city of that age? Who do you know works with Rothe in Menzoberranzan? Is there a Guild for them? What public events are there with Rothe involved? Are there stables?" What of the Temple behind us Jarlaxle? And - Wilderness Lore/Tracking Check - take 20 And - Knowledge (Nature) to identify the smell - take 20 |
| De Batavier11-23-04, 09:15 AM | Psionics case: During the manifestation of the power he learns a few things. So the rothe hair comes from a rope that was made by a 247 year old drow male who has no fixed alignment or two alignments. Maybe someone with two distinct personalities? I have been to the rothe island. There is only one person who takes care of them, Xillian. He has spoken of a strange fog that came to the island. I have heard you speak of the creatures called vampires. Do they not have the ability to change into a fog? So we are probably looking for a male drow vampire who has the skill to make rope from rothe hair. Stumbles into Jarlaxle and manifest object reading on his clothes. Hiding the normal displays of manifesting a power Sorry. 1) Drow 2) Male 3) 247 4) NE/CN 5) fashioned it into a rope taken directly from rothe 6) No previous owner |
| De Batavier11-24-04, 05:19 AM | Jarlaxle tells him something after the stumbeling Seems i have to be somewhere..else. It was nice working with you Silmarien. I hope i can return soon to continue the investigation with you. Can i speak you privately Jarlaxle ;) |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-24-04, 08:22 AM | You too DeB She says "Clarissa seemed quite reasonable actually - almost genuine. And - Wilderness Lore/Tracking Check - take 20 And - Knowledge (Nature) to identify the smell - take 20 and this response from ang Anglar - "Don't pay them any mind, Melda. They are more show than action. Once they realize just who I am you'll see a change in their faces." Shouting out to a passing Drow, "Inye na uselytte Melee`yon." Pall falls over them. "Do not forget that technically I am Noble of he First House. How else is it that I was able to teleport to your side? And do not worry about Clarissa. Her loyalty to Lloth is simply the front she gives for the rest of the city. As for House Deimorral, they could cause you a problem, psionicists they are. Though if they have not openly acted against you, I doubt they will." Noticing Jarlaxle, "Hello Jax, you need a hair cut you hippie." Jarlaxle - "Well met, Qualme." Anglar rolls his eyes at the mention of the Elven word for Death. "To answer you questions, Silmarien, I for one am that old. I can think of four other males who are still alive who are also that age. Xillian works with the rothe along with 5 others, though they bend to Xillian's will since he is of the highest House. They have no guild, the rothe are used for nothing special, and they have no stable of any sort." Turning to regard the temple. "The temple also serves as the main school of clerical teaching in the city. It was one of the few structures of size to survive your husband's little episode when he was last here for any amount of time. Usually it is only used for ceremonies that involve each of the 8 ruling Houses, like when Bregan was transformed into a vampire." Jarlaxle looks directly at Anglar when he mentions this last pasrt. [/quote] |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-24-04, 08:38 AM | @DeB. Ready when you are! We're gunna crack this, and The Half-Elven Foundation and Psionics Foundation are going to be RICH! 1. Sense Motive on Jarlaxle when he gives knowing glance to Anglar. 2. Look for tracks around the scene (take 20). 3. Knowledge (Nature) on faint sweet smell in air. Now - about Xillian Silmarien's eyes narrow suddenly. She turns to DeBatavier and says "This duel alignment thing is most strange, but you are right in that fog is very vampiric. I would have thought, though, that Vampires are simply chaotic evil....." Silmarien's eyes suddenly widen in epipheny! "DeBatavier - it is a were-creature - a WereRothe, I do believe. Perhaps not fully altered into its new form, so that it has duel alignment! Or else...." Silmarien incants, deftly gesturing with her hand as her eyes stare out at you. 1. Locate Person (Xillian). 2. Greater Scrying (Xillian), then the Rothe stables. 3. Legend Lore (WereRothe). 4. Knowledge (Nature) (WereRothes) "Jarlaxle! I need to access a Drow library. Take me somewhere where I can research split personalities, were-rothes, and what else do you know about were-creatures in Menzoberranzan? |
| Tenzhi11-24-04, 08:42 AM | "DeBatavier - it is a were-creature - a WereRothe, I do believe. Perhaps not fully altered into its new form, so that it has duel alignment! LOL!!! That's precious. |
| Silmarien Aldalome11-24-04, 09:09 AM | LOL!!! That's precious. "Duel-alignment" - Sil-Marsha is rubbing off onto Anglar *cracks* Sil-Marsha: Oh Tenzhi - *pouts* - he can have as many alignments as he wants *swooshes hair* - but that won't help me choose a dress for Viggo - we're due to be at the prom in 15 minutes! Jan-Marien2: rrreeeeaaaahhhhh *pulls it together* |
| De Batavier11-24-04, 01:56 PM | Returns after a private conversation with Jarlaxle. Avoids eye contact with Silmarien and Jarlaxle after this talk @DeB. Ready when you are! We're gunna crack this, and The Half-Elven Foundation and Psionics Foundation are going to be RICH! Yes there are many treasures of the earth found here. The drow are also a group you want to keep on your good side. Glances over to Jarlaxle They have their special ways. Yes it is a possibility. Though why such a creature would kill our respective victims. Again glances over to Jarlaxle |
| Demonfey11-24-04, 02:02 PM | Wow. Droga solved it really fast, after I mentioned a certain spell. |
| turalisj11-24-04, 04:28 PM | "so, my drowish friend, do you have any other information that you might be holding from anyone? mybe you know who killed this drow, and you just wish for noone to find out....." turalisj said, his eyes glinting with a hidden strength. but just before jarlaxle can answer an elf appears and converses with turalisj. they leave the building and the sound of wings can be heard. note: this is the point where i go off to fight droga. so next time i post will be as the reincarnated turalisj, in this thread atleast. |
| Dyne11-24-04, 07:10 PM | 3. The *murderer* was 1) Drow 2) Male 3) 247 4) NE/CN 5) fashioned it into a rope taken directly from rothe An odd "coincidence". It has been debated whether Jarlaxle is Neutral Evil or Chaotic Neutral. Is Jarlaxle behind the murder? |
| Dyne11-27-04, 06:31 PM | Whoops! How did this slip over to the second page of the forum? |
| Orcy The Green Wonder11-27-04, 06:47 PM | Because everyones been caught up in rants over what is good and what is evil. That or challenging Droga to a fight to the death. Orcy is begining to wonder when people are going to get back to business and stop trying to destroy the guild of evil before the game starts completely.... |
| Bait the Bard11-27-04, 06:52 PM | Along the same lines.. Has anyone seen Anglar recently? And I have a PM for him.. :plotting: |
| Dyne11-27-04, 07:04 PM | Because everyones been caught up in rants over what is good and what is evil. That or challenging Droga to a fight to the death. Orcy is begining to wonder when people are going to get back to business and stop trying to destroy the guild of evil before the game starts completely.... Who can blame them? When Droga posts In-Character, he is outright irritating. |
| turalisj11-27-04, 07:12 PM | his posts are like when my brothers talk, it sounds so irritating, so annoying, that you would just like to kill him. |
| Dyne11-27-04, 07:36 PM | his posts are like when my brothers talk, it sounds so irritating, so annoying, that you would just like to kill him. That's probably the point. Makes people want to challenge him to the death, he kills them, and gains gold and XP. |
| anglar11-29-04, 06:47 PM | Along the same lines.. Has anyone seen Anglar recently? And I have a PM for him.. :plotting: Sorry. LEft work at 11 Tuesday night so I could return for the joy that was being back in at 7 AM and working until 11 PM Wednesday. I almost slept through Thanksgiving. Then I was just out until today. |
| anglar11-29-04, 08:28 PM | An odd "coincidence". It has been debated whether Jarlaxle is Neutral Evil or Chaotic Neutral. Is Jarlaxle behind the murder? Jarlaxle - "Are you asking me directly or just posing the question to the wind?" |
| De Batavier12-01-04, 02:57 PM | Psionic case: So seems to me the...murder is solved. We want to start trade talks immidiatly. :w00t: :bump: |
| De Batavier12-04-04, 01:14 PM | New case Warlock Circle: This is an other character then the one that's already been working on the murder Karl Abend listens to Jarlaxle. He keeps silent while the drow explains the situation. A dead body has been found. Trade talks will not start untill the crime is solved, because as newcomers the diplomats from the Warlock circle are suspects. Jarlaxle explains that they better clear their name themselfs. Then Jarlaxle offers to bring them to the victim. Karl Abend stands and says: Jarlaxle i will not follow you to this murder victim. I don't care about your dead drow. I didn't kill him. And if i did there wouldn't been any doubt about it. You need the trade as much as we do. We Warlocks have a lot to offer and i will not play games. I'm here for trade talks, not to amuse you. We talk of trade or we don't talk. So i will explain once more what we have to offer. Once a warlock is experienced and aware enough of his powers he can create any magic item he wants. My specialty are the items sages call wonderous. I've studied them hard. Our special insights allows us to make arcane and divine items. Though the later are a little harder to make. This is what we can offer the drow. If you want detectives go elswhere. :bump: |
| De Batavier12-08-04, 09:31 AM | Seems this thread needs another :bump: :( :whatsthis |
| Dyne12-11-04, 03:20 PM | :bump: Perhaps this thread can become active again? There are several new foundations and a bunch of new members that might want to try their skill in investigating the mystery. |
| Ouroboros02-18-05, 01:56 PM | I don't get this |
| Silmarien Aldalome02-18-05, 08:55 PM | Ouroborus!!! It's very very good to see you again, you've been missed. The Eagle Flies, high above the Rilla Mountains - a squawk piercing the breeze as the summer sun melts snows on the lower margins of the mountains. But, their white-capped peaks are untarnished, and the god of Snow and Ice grips the mountain peaks, chilling the earth and refusing the warmth of the sun. The Eagle suddenly starts - sensing your scrying - and it changes its pitch, hovering and turning about, flying right towards your scrying portal, seemingly bent on flying through - across the dimensions and into your world, but instead, it squawks again, as the image of the bird fills your vision, beckoning to you to follow...... Down, down it plummets, in a dive, wings folded behind it, accelerating as the mountain seems to jump up at you. The rocks and landscape grows - and the Eagle doesn't slow - As the ground is about to hit you - the Eagle flies into a dark tunnel - in a sweeping rush of wind, and sound - plummeting at 45 degrees into the depths of the earth. But there are fires burning in the corridor, that rush past in a blur of motion. And, after five minutes of descent at great speed, suddenly you hear the sounds of Anvil and Hammer ring out in the darkness, and the deep baritones of the Dwarf Lords, who craft weapons and armour in great masses. For the Dwarves ready for warfare, sensing the great disquiet of the earth and the rumbles of trouble. In the forest, above Peredhil Halls, there have been seen lightnings, thunders, gathering clouds and magical fires erupting into the night. Sometimes the screams of despair also - and a stench on the wind - of fellness and evil. Some say they have seen the Shadow of Bane walk the earth - his green, lurid weapon and rancid emerald fires, tainted by disease and evil smiting the earth. For, some say the Dark Lord returns, and though the Dwarves are estranged from the Elves - the Dwarves remember Arnandahar - and some say the Great Mythal is nigh to extinction - its magic spend after 10 millenia of burning. Others, again, say the Mythal is assailed by Shadow Weave Magic, and others again, that Mystra denies the magic - being distracted by a great battle with Shar, thus limiting the power she can provide to Realmspace.... But the Eagle flies - into the Council Chamber of the Dwarves - and suddenly, the great white-bearded Dwarf Lords, deep in Counsel around their Stone Table look up. The Eagle Squawks - and Silmarien materialises before the Dwarves, her silver hair, and staff radiant in Silverstarfire magic..... |
| Ouroboros02-19-05, 02:44 AM | "Silmarien good friend!" a single tear runs over the old dwarven his cheek. "It is so good to see you again" his had streches out but he pulls it back again slowly. "I have been gone so long. I was worried my return would not have been welcomed i expected the worsed. The old dwarven foundation has been crumbelled to dust and the guild house has changed i don't regonize it anymore" he sighes "This changes make me feel old, old friend. Like a moutain that broke down by the wind as it couldn't bow whit it" "but inof about me....what is this foundation? Trading what?" he flushes "=gasp= you didn't plunder the old dwarven foundation haven't you?" |
| Silmarien Aldalome02-19-05, 02:54 AM | "Plunder!" Sil's face looks aghast "Nay! Such an act would bring the wrath of the seven fathers down upon me and mine" Bowing before the Dwarf Lords, she rises, leaning on her staff "the Old Dwarven Lands remain where they are good Ouroborus - their doors closed until the time for their Return is nigh. The matters before us are grim, however, for Realmspace is haunted by Abomination. The Skygge being but one of several horrors. And - spying - now none can be certain of who means what and none can confirm privacy" she looks around the room, her mein a little paranoid "for even here, I fear the Minions of Evil do spy us. But - what of your road since we last talked - what news do you bear?" |
| Ouroboros02-19-05, 03:08 AM | "No disrispect Silmarien but this is a drow mine after all" "and drow hate all elfs but themselves or they have to follow Eilistraee" Ouroboros shakes his head. "No you are wise Silmarien only a fool feels truly save underground as we dwarves have expirenced time and time again" i don't think i can't do the foundation of the month anymore to mutch respebilties in the other world Sil "Er it was a long time ago what whwere we talking about last time" |
| Silmarien Aldalome10-08-05, 04:04 AM | and, ditto for Opening Post, but for now :bump: |
