Upon entering this beautiful building in the University District, you realize it is far more vast on the inside than the outside would allow.

The walls are covered with thosands of holy and unholy symbols, or perhaps even more. Those of benevolent deities line one wall while those belonging to gods with malicous intent line the opposite. In same kind, the other two walls hold the symbols of deities championing order and freedom.

The large room is packed with bookshelves as tall as a dwarf, and you can see the stools provided for members of smaller races. In the center of the room is a grand spiral staircase leading to floors above and below. Each wall and each corner also has its own set of stairs leading up.

"Welcome to the Hall of the Gods," an aged man welcomes you. "Our archives reach far below us should you be seeking information on a god. First you should find where your information lies. Several fools have been lost who thought they could find what they were seeking themselves. This level holds the locations of information on the gods.

"The level above us is open to all worshipers. You will be able to feel which stairs are meant for you.

"Only the servants of the deities are allowed on the third floor. And only the deities themselves may tread upon the fourth."

I like gods. So this a topic for them. Feel free to post your homebrews or ones that just pop into your head.
We'll also talk about alternative ways of statting deities for those who care to give their gods numerical values.

As far as roleplaying goes for gods, it will be freeform only. And. . . . Well. . . Now some's gunna start. . . .

Only one god per post please.
We're not going to be too particular about format, but if you include stats for your god, please put them in an sblock. (sblock)Deity's stats(/sblock) But with brackets [] instead of ().

if they dont worship who takes their souls to the afterlife and such?
Are they deemed faithless and given to the God of Death or do they go to their own Ur-Priest after-life?

Karanti
Arena Forger, Lord of Challenge, God of Tournaments
Lesser Deity (Chaotic Neutral)

Karanti is the god of tournaments, he loves to partake in combat and oversee tournaments. He encourages his followers to seek challenges and combat in great tournaments. Arenas are his favorite place of residence and he even comes down from his castle high above the world to walk the streets and watch the tournaments of motals. While tournament combat is his primary concern, he is also a lesser god of battle. His symbol is a checkered mask that has a smile and a frown both. The symbol itself is rather a dull black and wight.

Barbarians, Fighters, and sometimes Monks are his primary worshipers. Anyone who loves to brawl has typically heard of him and his portfolio. His followers are often crowded into arenas or cities that have an arena. Taking part in combat whenever possible. Others are wanderers who, because of their love of combat, have been driven from their homes because of their constant seeking of a fight. These men and women stop to take part in any challenge that may present itself.

Portfolio: Combat, Arenas, Tournaments
Domains: Strength, Courage, Competition
Cleric Training: The clerics of Karanti take part in the arena and learn to feel the combat itself. They feel the strength of their opponents in the arena and come to know Karanti. Often times he will appear to the winner of a tournament and offer them greater strength in service of the lord of tournaments.
Prayers: Prayers offered up to Karanti are typically bouts of combat. Short battles or wrestling matches.
Temples: Karanti's temples appear within arenas or other areas in which tournament style combat takes place. While many of these temples are more like just another part of the arena, it is not uncommon to see combatants bowing their heads before the symbol of Karanti before battle.
Rites: The rites of Karanti often involve combat, as many other things dealing with Karanti.
Herald and Allies: Karanti generally appears to his followers himself in a lesser form. He appears as a bald and powerfully built man in a toga. He wears the mask that makes up his holy symbol.
Favored Weapon: Unarmed Strike/Fist

To answer that, well, ur priests probably aren't that popular with the next world...they probably end up being food for demons.

Have you ever heard of the wall? When I first started playing the people I was playing with said that anybody who doesn't have a deity when they die is teleported into a wall. The wall holds you bent over and facing one way thats just barren and has nothing. On the other side a pit fiend or a balor or something walks up and down the wall whipping your uhm... "tail end" for all eternity.

Dyrzakis
Infernal Lord of Hatred & Malice
Demigod (CN,LE,NE,CE)
Symbol:Draconic skulls (each representing one of his prime heads) arranged in a 5-pointed star

Dyrzakis Nothing cept' a few smatterings of Dark Speech can describe the monstrosity known as the Infernal Lord.
Portfolio:Ur-Priests,Evil (any aspects of evil)
Domains: Pain,Diabolic,Demonic,Corruption
Cleric Training:
Temples:The clerics of Dyrzakis are few and far between, though some large gatherings exist, most of them hold a temple within the Nine Hells, the Abyss, or some other outer plane.
Rites: The rites of the Infernal Scrolls as they are called by followers of the Infernal Lord, are brutal and bloody to say the least, and for the sake of the lighthearted shall remain undescribed until the need presents itself for a new follower.
Herald / Allies : Dyrzakis, The Infernal Lord sends Hêthus' own 5 Cleric/5 Rouge/10 Ur-Priest as his Herald. This Herald is also Hêthus former master, Malsaern the Enlightened. Hêthus responds to plainer ally spells with Ur-Priests of varying levels, races, and ages.

Ya thats what happens to all Faithless. When people die in Faerun they are sent to the Fungy (sp) Plain from there they are claimed by their diety. If the had no diety they are deemed a Faithless and put in the Wall. Though I dont remember the Balors. From what I've read you either face into the city of the Dead and watch people get tortured or you face out into the Fungy Plain (I know Im spelling that wrong). Either way the "mortar" is alive and very painfull.
Also if you did worship a diety but broke a commandment or something and they dont take you you are deemed a False and tortured in varying ways forever.

I think Ur-Priests would be deemed one of those depending on if they followed a diety at one time or not.

I think I will create a Ur-Priest "diety" that takes them in.

I dont mean a diety in the fact that they worship him. He would be like a High Teacher. His basic story would be that over time he stole so much divine power that he gained Imortality (Quasa-Dietyhood) and when he saw fellow Ur-Priests being put in the wall he made a place for them to call home. No one would really worship him. As you said that would defeat the purpus.
And as they are still Faithless this would cause nice little battles to get a Ur-Priest's Soul. A little war here and there.

Hêthus the Teacher (Pronounced He-thus)
Quasi-Deity (Neutral Evil)

Hêthus is the technical god of Ur-Priests though none worships him and he would not answer the prayers of those who did. Hêthus does not see him self as a deity and hates all other deities who have worshippers.

In life Hêthus was a powerful Cleric of a long forgotten deity, but one day he saw his own “god” murdered. After seeing this Hêthus realized that the so called “gods” were no more imortal than him. After this realization Hêthus forsook all deities and began actively seeking to undermine the worship of them all. It was this hatred that drew Malsaern the Enlightened to Hêthus. Malsaern was a powerful Ur-Priest and he taught Hêthus the ways of the Ur-Priests. Hêthus took to the teaching so strongly that in no time at all he surpassed his former master and began teaching others the ways of the Ur-Priests, but always in the shadows and in small numbers as not to attract attention.

Over time as Hêthus became more and more powerful he soon discovered the one thing he thought dead and forgotten. He found his god. The long forgotten deity he once follower still lived, though not as he once did. All that was left of this once mighty being was a mass of Divine energies. In seeing this Divine Spark Hêthus did what any Ur-Priest would do. He stole it.

By doing this he gained immortality and then later ventured into the afterlife to see the fate of the dead. He saw the False tortured and he laughed for this was what the fools had gotten for worshiping their so called “gods”, but he also saw the Faithless and among them he saw a great many Ur-Priests. Upon seeing this Hêthus was flung into a mad rage and tore the Wall down. From it he took every Ur-Priest and any who cursed the names of the gods.

He then fled to the Outer planes with his stolen souls and in this place he created a great library that contained within it the knowledge of every Ur-Priest that has lived, lives now, and will live yet. From here Hêthus teaches others the ways of the Ur-Priests and plots the destruction of the other deities.

Portfolio: Ur-Priests

Domains: None

Cleric Training: Hêthus has no worshippers and thus no Clerics. Though he does train Ur-priests. Ur-Priests in-training are normally taught by a more learned Ur-Priest. They either stay to one place in hiding learning to steal the power of the gods or travel the world seeing the effects of the “gods” on the world. These groups come in pairs, one teacher and one student, never any more than two Ur-Priests will be found in this way.

Quests: Quests often include the destruction of Temples, the theft of Relics, the murder of Clerics, and any basic destruction of other gods and their lackeys.
Prayers: None

Temples: None

Rites: None

Herald and Allies: Hêthus sends a 5 Cleric/5Rouge/10 Ur-Priest as his Herald. This Herald is also Hêthus former master, Malsaern the Enlightened. Hêthus responds to plainer ally spells with Ur-Priests of varying levels, races, and ages.

And Malsaern is a little bit of both. His stats could be made and his level is consistant with that of other Heralds mentioned in CD so thats not a problem. Also it really just depends on "Do we want to stat him?"

i believe the neautral, as long as they have a dominant trait ( NG or NE will go to their respective sides, though N, and CN shall probably have a central entrance.

If they have a dominant trait, they aren't neutral. Chaotic Neutral is obviously on the wall with the rest of the chaotically aligned (Freedom, opposite of Order/Law).

I'm probably going to post the Elf-Bane, but he's True Neutral so I'm just wondering if everyone will be walking on him.

Symbol: Sword wreathed in lightning, pointing skyward
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Portfolio: War, conquest, storms, lightning
Domains: Air, Darkness (FRCS), Evil, Law, Nobility (Complete Warrior), Storms (FRCS), Tyranny (Complete Warrior), War
Favored Weapon: Greatsword

Eight domains seems like it would be too much, but all of them fit the deity. And I couldn't bring myself to remove any of them.

In regular D&D, people who don't worship gods just automatically travel to the plane most appropriate to their alignment upon death.

In regular D&D, people who don't worship gods just automatically travel to the plane most appropriate to their alignment upon death.

This makes me wonder things: What's the difference between a soul and a body? Since a living person could travel to Hell and Heaven without dying (via Gate of Plane Shift), isn't it conceivable that a soul could travel back to the Material Plane through similar methods? In such a case, what's the difference between being dead and being alive?
Tenzhi

11-25-05, 04:36 AM
The difference is that one is an outsider anchored to the material plane by a sack of meat, and the other is just a native meatbag.

Though, generally speaking, most "souls" don't recall the material plane unless they get special attention from a deity (a cosmic promotion of sorts) or are processed into a higher/lower form. Without an actual brain, remembering stuff and keeping track of time are difficult at best. That's right, spirits are naturally senile due to having no physical brain.

Tenzhi the Ti Hsien
The Enlightened Immortal, The Elf-Bane

Greater Deity
Symbol: Black serpentine dragon arranged in a celtic knot with head and foreclaws but no tail or rear claws situated around a Yin/Yang symbol.
Home Plane: Special
Alignment: True Neutral
Portfolio: Balance, arcane knowledge, truth, death, life, elves, irony
Worshippers: Kobolds, elves, half-elves, monks
Cleric Alignments: All
Domains: Chaos, Evil, Good, Healing, Knowledge, Law, Magic, Repose
Favoured Weapon: Fist

A mysterious and elusive deity, Tenzhi most often appears as a short, wizened old man of dubious racial descent. He is bald, but has silvery-white eyebrows of ridiculous proportion over-shadowing empty eye sockets that seem to contain all the stars in the sky. He also sports a long, bristling goatee that manages to look both stately and eccentric.

Sometimes (very rarely on the prime material plane) He appears in His true form - that of a serpentine black dragon with silver whiskers and antlers whose coils appear to go on infinitely while He is in motion.

Among both elves and kobolds, Tenzhi is known as the Elf-Bane (or occasionally "The Bringer of the Feast of Elves" among kobolds). Though most elves who know of Him fear and revile Him, there are those who understand death is natural and respect His knowledge and dedication to truth. Kobolds worship Him because He beat Kurtulmak in an elf-eating contest, or so the story goes. Among both it is said that the Elf-Bane will eventually devour all elves.

To monks, He offers martial teachings that help one focus inwards and develop one's spirit and body to the point that time ceases to have meaning - effectively granting one immortality if one can master the difficult forms and unlock the secrets therein.

Dogma
Tenzhi doesn't ask much from His worshippers - indeed, He has been known to fruitlessly attempt to explain to a cleric of His faith that the divine powers they think they are receiving actually comes from within their own spirit. Beyond that, He simply makes the friendly suggestion to live in moderation and avoid extremes.

Clergy and Temples
Most temples dedicated to the teachings of Tenzhi are monasteries with few actual clerics. Kobold worshippers are largely sorcerors, though some pure clerics exist - in either case, there are not temples so much as small, cultish, ritualistic gatherings. And the rare elf cleric might have one or two apprentices, but would be hard pressed to even form a gathering. Followers of Tenzhi tend to dress in very simple clothes of neutral colours.

Symbol: a Featureless mask, half black and half white
Alignment: Neutral Good
Worshippers: Half-Elves, Human-Elf couples, Half Bloods of Human or Elven extraction,

Dogma: In peace be joyous, spread healing and hope to all in need.in war, lock away your heart and bring death to your foes as quickly as possible. The greatest honor is victory. Above all else, make a place for those with no place of thier own. Lift up the downtrodden, bring down those who would bring suffering to thier fellows. Show no fear in battle, if your cause is just then it is to my arms you shall come if you fall.there you will find the eternal peace that is my greatest gift. Make of yourself a beacon of hope and a fire of destruction.this is not paradox but nessecity.

The woman known as Rh'iel was born on a world of great conflict as powerful nations, both human and elven fought near constantly for domination. In these lands the half-elven were viewed as servants at best, abominations at worst. Her early life was as a slave to a long succession of masters of both races. Some kindly some harsh and some fools. After saving the life of a human master (a minor mage) who had inherited her and did not truly care for the idea of slavery (slaves could not be freed) the grateful mage taught her the basics of magic. From the caravan gaurds of the mage (he was a merchant who traveled widely) she learned the arts of the warrior. As she traveled with her master she added to her knowledge from both elves and humans. She saw the greatness of both and the depths to which both could sink. When her master died she fled into the wilderness and spent several decades mastering the magical abilities that flowed through her viens. In time she began to gather a following of runaway slaves as word of her power spread. She founded a city and began to lead raids designed to free her fellows from the chains of thier masters. In time her city grew to be powerful as many came to find safty under her banner. Her personal power continued to increase to a point that it became near legendary as did her compassion, her blade skill and her knowledge of the healing arts. Eventually an alliance of human and elf nations decided to put an end to her city before she could bring freedom to thier own slaves and destroy what they thought of as a natural condition. Badly outnumbered, her people fought with bravery and skill against a foe who they could not defeat. In desperation she wrought a great spell that drained an ancient artifact in an attempt to save her badly outnumbered people. A flaw in the artifact destroyed the opposing force to a man and transfered thier combined life energies to her, elevating her to instant godhood and destroying the artifact. Her city and its residents were transported to elysium as celestials. Embracing the concept of death and rectifying it with her own beliefs she now intends to bring her message and love to all half-elves. Declaring them to be her children.

jagggar's method to godhood

Come from a world sans active deities (in the D&D sense).
Find a tome which describes other worlds and how to manupulate them.
Spend a few moments to laugh evilly.
Travel to said world and challenge top-god.
Thank top-god for his/her/its powers.
Shake the snow-globe that the world once was.
Enjoy!

Well, it's not really needed. It's kind of there to give you an out for your evil laughter just incase you're the type that could be distracted later when somehow the other gods (or even mortals) have banded together to destroy you while you're busy laughing.

Domains: Healing, War, Death, Protection, Retribution
Alignment: Neutral Good
Alignment of Clerics: Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good

Oh, hey, just noticed. Ya might want to go with the Repose domain (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/domains.htm#reposeDomain). It's the Death domain minus the [Evil] spells (the ones that create undead). At least if you stick to the clerics can't cast spells with a descriptor opposite their alignment.

I like my method, though. It's basically taking the ur priest a bit farther (from taking the powers of a deity's servants to taking a deity's powers, innate knowledge, lifeforce, soul, and all domains and making them forcibly a part of you.)

This just gave me and idea for my epic campagin that I'll begin this year.
this spell could be inscribed on a big meteor that will fall on the middle of Toril, begining a race betwheen all forces of the world (good evil & neutrals)to get it first.

You see, that's where my thoughts differ. I think thoughts and feelings originate in the spirit, which uses its physical brain to manifest those thoughts and feelings in the physical realm. Basically, the brain translates information from the spirit, and passes on commands to the physical parts of the body. As far as feelings go, the spirit has the feelings, but manifests them to the body through chemicals and electrical pulses, which make the body physically "feel" the emotions.

I don't dispute that the spirit originates thought and emotion. But the spirit is metaphysical. It is like a computer program - data and whatnot can be generated by a computer program, but without the hardware it's just a bunch of character strings that could potetially do something.

Software by itself might not do much here in our physical world, but how do we know it can't operate by itself in other dimensions and realities? Perhaps in the Plane of Erratic Computers, the software operates itself without hardware, and changes itself at a whim. For some reason, I'm reminded of all those "fictional" stories about robots replacing human beings.

I think ghosts represent my thoughts better, statistically. They are exactly the same as the physical creatures they once were, except they just can't physically manipulate objects. They have (virtually*) no sense of touch and (virtually*) no sense of taste. But, I don't get why some creatures would go to the Ethereal Plane when they die, while others go to other planes. What are ghosts? Are they spirits that tried to get back to the Material Plane, but only made it to the Ethereal Plane? What would stop a spellcasting ghost from using Plane Shift to transport itself from the Ethereal Plane to the Material Plane?

It just doesn't make sense to me. If I had it my way, the Ethereal Plane would either be eliminated, or Heaven, Hell, and all those other places people go when they die would become part of the Ethereal Plane. In the former case, the Ethereal Plane could be eliminated entirely. The "body" would be more of a shell, housing a spirit of finer matter. When the body dies, the spirit stills persists as an entity that is intangible to our impure forms, but perfectly tangible to things of "spirit matter." In the latter case, a creature has two parts, body and spirit, living parallel on the Matereal and Ethereal realms simultaneously. When a creature dies, only the spirit on the Ethereal Realm remains. If the creature was good, the deities of heaven would "teleport" them to heaven. If they were evil, the deities of hell would "teleport" them to hell. If they didn't fit into either, or if they had the will to resist the "teleportation" (succeeding on the will save), they would just be wandering spirits, occasionally manifesting on the Material Realm in various ways. In such a case, the Ethereal Plane wouldn't be a different dimension, but rather a different "realm" that each plane possesses.

*Some sources suggest that ghosts have the slightest sensitivity in these areas (read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at the deathday party).

Ghosts are a completely different matter from petitioners. They can physically manifest on the prime material plane, and are undead. It's quite likely they have a pseudo-body made from negative energy. As to how they get stuck there - going with the computer analogy, the emotional circumstances surrounding their death acts like a corrupt file and keeps windows from shutting down properly, leaving them in "logging off" limbo until someone comes along and kills the program (by righting the circumstances that got them stuck there). ;)

Of course, there's always the off switch....

I think Ghostwalk presented rules for a campaign in which ghosts are a more common occurence. Even rules and such for ghost characters (ghost classes, ghost feats, etc.). I would probably shed more light on the Etherrealm.

The thing is, I just don't like mixing alternate realities and "where do people go after they die?" together. It doesn't make sense to me. What happens when you kill something that's already dead? Does it just die again, and assume the form of the spirit of its spirit or some such hogwash? Does it die utterly, just as its body did? If you only have to kill something twice to destroy it completely, why have the second part at all? Gah, I ask too many questions. A few house rules here and there, and problem solved.

*Ya'll made me go hunt down my descrete math notes.

Post Script:
And no, the off switch doesn't always work. This computer locks up from time to time and I have to shut off the power. Once we reach the point where we cut the power and the computer/robot/etc. doesn't shut off, that's when humanity needs to start fearing.

Alternate way to stat deities (or their servants or whatever for those of you who hate statted deities).

Gestalt Gods

Short and simple form of it is Outsider HD are removed. Most gods at this point are something along the lines of Fighter 20/Cleric 20 or something similar. The god then becomes Fighter 20//Cleric 20. Feel free to take our Fighter 20//Cleric 20 and make him Fighter 30//Cleric 30 and even on up to Fighter 40//Cleric 40. If you believe gods should have Outsider HD, return the Outsider HD but it is not gestalted with anything.

Becoming a Deity

If the game uses gestalt characters for the PCs, then there is no problem. If using normal characters (non-gestalt), then the following happens upon reaching godhood.

The character becomes a gestalt character with Commoner levels filling up the other side of build. The first level of Commoner is replaced by whatever class the new god plans to gestalt with. Upon gaining a level, the next two Commoner levels transform into the prefered classes. So continues the progression until the transformed classes equals the character level.

1. Create an epic spell that drains creatures of power and gives those powers to you.
2. Find Dagon or Mother Hydra. Drain one, then the other
3. Systematically absorb each deity in the Cthulian pantheon
4. Wash, rinse, repeat until sated.
Note: no plan of actually doing this, just putting it somewhere it'd fit so I can find it if I need it for a different campaign idea. And to see if anyone'll use it.

Mortal God
The Experience, Brother to Mortals
Intermediate God
Symbol: The Mortal God’s symbol varies from worshipper to worshipper. Four documented symbols are a Golden Axe on a chain; held by a Half-Slaadi Barbarian of the North, a Scepter lying on a closed book held by the Scholar King of a long dead city, a Skeletal Hand gripping a skull, held by a Lich, it is unknown if he still “lives” or not, and a sword through a Slaadi’s head, held by the Founder of the Order of the Slayer, a group of adventures known for slaying monsters.

Home Plane: The Mortal God has no real Home plane. He and the majority of his dead worshippers travel from plane to plane to “experience new things” as he and his followers are commonly quoted. Some of his worshippers abstain from this constant travel to live in permanent settlements for he and his traveling followers to stay in on their travels. Three such settlements exist; one is Dio'Mord Erd, located on the Third layer of Hell and is as Evil a city as you would expect it to be. It is well known for being a seemingly endless supplier of Arcane materials, foci, and spells. A large number of Devils live there and some are even loyal to The Experiance.
Another, known as Dio'Ruhen, exists on Celestia, because of the fact that their sister city is in Hell this city is shunned by those around them and very rarely spoken of, despite this the city is a stainless city of goodness and exaltedness. Well known for its Healing Arts it’s existence it tolerated and called on occasion. Almost everyone is Neutral Good and the people of the city refuse to let those of evil alignment enter their city, not even fellow followers of the Mortal God are welcome if they are Evil, except in extreme circumstances.
The Third city, Dio'inssring, is located in the Astral Plane. It is a giant floating tavern city, home to many Spirits and a font of information. There is no real government and the only basic law is “don’t kill anyone.” Here you can always find a party and if you know where to look you can find anything from Tomes on the Binding Arts to willing teachers of the Mysteries of Shadow Magic and Cutthroat Mercenaries to Selfless Crusaders.

Alignment: N
Portfolio: Experiences, Mortals, and Existence.
Worshipers: Anyone
Cleric Alignments: NG, LN, N, CN, and NE
Domains: Travel, Law, Good, Chaos, and Evil as these are the most basic elements of experiences. Though there have been documented cases where Clerics of the Brother to Mortals have had Domains other then these.
Favored Weapon: The Mortal God’s favored weapon depends upon the worshippers personal image of their God. Barbarians say his preferred weapon is an Axe, Thieves and Assassins say the dagger or short sword, Spell casters claim it to be a Rod or Staff, all in all it really just depends on what the individual thinks.
The most common weapons thought to be his favored are the Short sword, the Staff, and the War Hammer.
When a Player creates a follower (Cleric/Favored Soul/Other class the need to know the favored weapon) of the Mortal God they should clarify to the GM which weapon he/she feels in the Favored weapon.
Cleric Training: Cleric training in the Church of the Experience varies greatly. As it is a Church of new experiences having the same training method for several generations isn’t really a new experience. Because of this training methods change from church to church, year to year, and even Trainee to Trainee. The most common aspects of it are having the person go on a journey of some kind.
Quests: Each Church, Sect, and Cleric are given great freedom in what they can do for quests. “The more freedom, the more experiences,” is a common saying. The only restriction on a quest is that you must tell your superiors what you are doing so that they can add your experiences in the quest to the Tome of Existence that every church holds.
Prayers: Common ways of starting a prayer are “Brother to Mortals bless my . . .” and “Great Experience shed upon me your wisdom as I . . .”
Temples: Within each of the cities loyal to the Mortal God there are grand temples. Dio'inssring, the Tavern City, holds the smallest temple of the three cities. It is, in essence, one of the largest Taverns and Inns you could ever see. It can easily hold a full caravan of Merchants and Traders, it is known for having the greatest ale and food of all the Taverns in the city, and always promises for a good time. The current High Priest is Tychoe, a Former Bard who took up the Clerical ways.

The temple of Dio'Mord Erd is largely underground. It holds a full four floors under it, the bottom being a prison and torture level. The Temple has only two levels above ground, these being the main Sanctuary for worship (first floor) and the barracks for the Temple’s winged guardians (second floor). The Guardians are made up mostly of Advespas and Malebranches with a few Marrashies acting as commanders. Their High Priest is Horgar the Fiend-Blooded. He is a cruel and evil being of the Durzagon race.

Dio'Ruhen, the city of good, holds a grand Cathedral that shines with a magical light. It stands several stories tall and is made of Marble harvested from Celestia. Its principle guardians are Half-Celestial Paladins and Clerics. Other than the Celestail blood the races of the guardians vary, though Half-Humans, Half-Elves, and Half-Orcs are of course the most common. The Temple offers free healing to all godly beings in need and actively hunts beings of Evil. Though it will turn a blind eye to fellow followers of the Experience as long as it does not affect Celestia.
The most sacred areas of the Temple are protected by Runic Guardians and the current High Priestess is Larial, a Half Celestial Half-Sirine.
Rites: Common rites among the Church of the Mortal God are those involving births, marriages, deaths, and farewells.
Herald and Allies: The Experience’s Herald can change every few centuries, but currently the Brother to Mortals sends a Great Wyrm Amethyst Dragon as his Herald. The Mortal God sends the Spirits of Dead worshippers, a Marrash, or a Lupinal to respond to Planar Ally Spells. The power level of what he sends varies upon the power of the Caster.
Relics: Helm of Experience, and Vial of Greater Existence

Meh. Dancing games suck. In premise and largely in music as well. Such a pronounced 4-count that I am inspired to count 1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and.

Put punch-sized buttons around the railing, and you could play fighting games like that, too. A giant D-pad you can use with your feet... Meh.

Incidentally, Zombo, you may want to keep a copy of that god around so you can repost it when the boards get relocated since nothing after the 1st is getting ported over.

Stop it! You're making me wish they had phonebooth like arcade things that had walls which could tell the difference between a punch and a kick while displaying what the person sees. Network it like those racing games so you can save your progress and go play elsewhere. The upgraded game would include some super CPU which analyzed your fighting style and at some point you'd fight yourself.

So, umm, to sound remotely on-topic, I'm thinking about creating a god of knowledge called Wikipedia.

Shikage
Shadows, The Bound
Rank: Intermediate Deity
Symbol: A gray eye
Home Plane: None
Alignment: Neutral
Portfolio: Shadows, secrets, protection (of secrets), misinformation, darkness and light, hidden things
Worshipers: Those who wish to learn or keep secrets; those that wish to remain hidden. More recently, those seeking power through manipulation
Cleric Alignments: All
Domains: Knowledge, Darkness, Protection, Trickery
Favored Weapon: Dagger

Cleric Training: Shikagein clerics usually begin as members of other religions; when the learn of the Shadow, they may turn to him for the offer of a more subtle kind of power. Clerics of Shikage continue to obsensibly worship their original deity, but now truly worship Shikage. Clerics to the Shadow, however, are rare. Most as either Sorcerers or Shadowcasters.

Quests: Originally, Shikage barely took notice of his worshippers, obsessed with his own existance (see below). More recently, however, he has become very interested in them, and more to the point, ways they can go about freeing him.

Prayers: Prayers to Shikage are done at twilight, the time of harshes light and deepest darkness, when the shadows of the world are at their most potent

Temples: Shikage is composed of the shadowstuff that makes up every other god (and, in fact, everything that has a shadow, which is to say everything); hence, whenever any other god is worshipped, he himself is also worshipped. Temples dedicated exclusively to Shikage do not exist, instead, his clerics worship him within the temples of other gods.

Herald and Allies: As a being composed of equal parts light and dark, Shikage originally had few allies or enemies. A shapeshifting master of darkness and light, Shikage gains allies by impersonating others, and makes enemies through these means as well. Most recently, Shikage has found an enemy in most other gods of creation, as he sought to unmake everything, including himself. The only individual whom Shikage could ever even begin to call an ally was jagggar.

Relics: None. However, Shikage is intensely interested in the Shard (see below)

History: Shikage isn't just older then all current gods. He's older then everything, except for Reality itself.

In the very beginning, when the Realities sprang into being, they were composed of light and darkness. Shikage was born from this merging of light and dark, mere milliseconds after the universe. He spent untold billions of years alone, toying with Reality as the sole sentient being in it - and he was content.

However, Shikage's power stems from balance, but the Realities move naturally towards Chaos. Eventually, Shikage found himself in the company of other gods. He was present when the first Highgods were born, when such timeless entities as Ao and Orcus came into being.

It was then that Shikage began to notice it - he was dying. As the Realities grew more complex, more chaotic, he was growing less and less powerful. Anything that disrupted the balance hurt him. Quite literally, everything was killing him. Every birth and death, every war and peace, every act of love and hate, killed him.

And it grew only worse. What started as merely a slight tinge began to grow into a dull ache. Using his powers, Shikage slipped through time itself to the end of the Realities, and saw himself there: crippled, powerless, weak, and in such pain as even he could not yet comprehend it.

As the pain grew, Shikage realized he had only one option. he had to slay himself to stop the pain, to stop his slow decline into an agonizing death. Of course, he was quite literally the Shadow of everything, and nothing can survive without its shadow - this, if Shikage died, then he took the entirety of Reality with him, every man, woman, child, god, world.

So be it.

Shikage at last found his means: the Shard, an ancient relic from the Old Realities, something that didn't conform to any rules of the new realities. The Shard had the ability to grant any one wish, pure, uncorrupted, unlimited. But Shikage couldn't use it or even touch it, for it had no shadow.

Shikage then put a grand plan into motion. By this point in time, nearly fifteen trillion years since his birth, his power had dwindled to that of an Intermediate deity, but he assumed that this would be enough.

Shikage used his power of manipulation to intervene in a Godswar going on, setting up a vast web of intrigue to ensue that his true purpose was never guessed. The first part of Shikage's plans can be best explained by him:

The Shard pulsated as Shikage's avatar extended a hand, almost, but not quite, touching it. "I will not lie to you, jagggar, nor play games. Here is how things work.

"There are an infinite number of Realities. Each one showing a possibility, a chance...how things might have been or should have been or couldn't have been. They are infinite. But there are a finite number of Primes. Only a few thousand. To their fates are tied the fates of an infinite number of Realities.

"They are dying.

"I killed them."

...

"The Realities are stacked atop of one another, each one connected slightly. The Primes are of primary importance here. They are stacked within and ontop of and beneath one another. But certain Primes are more important then others. Destroy them, reduce them to but Shadows...and the entire Realities begin to unravel, unwind, and come apart."

Shikage smiled darkly. "The Realities are on a countdown clock. Their days are numbered. What is the number? Two million years. A long time for one as you. Nothing at all for one as I. Still, longer then I care to wait. I am speeding up that process even now, as my shadows claim more and more Realities."

Shikage's goal was simple. Even if he failed in his main plot, he would have unmade all of Reality, for he used his power over shadows to slay litterally quintillions, unbalance the Realities to such an extent that they would fall apart.

But Shikage's main plan was not this. His goal was to get one to use the Shard, for when the Shard was used, it would create a being that was his perfect opposite in every way.

Finally, the Shard was used, by a girl on an out-of-the-way reality. Her wish was granted (she wanted a spelljammer), and the Shard granted it - and then it cracked open and gave birth to a being that was, in every way, the opposite of Shikage - Aither.

Shikage's plan nearly came to fruitation: he sought to merely touch Aither. That one act would unmake him. it would have also unmade everything else, but he didn't care - the pain was too great at this point.

In the end, it took a combined resistance from all the gods in that Godswar to seal Shikage within a mystical container, locking him away for the rest of eternity without killing him. Aither was sealed away as well, but that goddess was made up of parts of the Old Realities; she played by completely different rules and so was able to escape it. She then repaired the damage that Shikage did to the Realities, and set out to explore an existance that was very, very new to her.

It was only in this time that Shikage remembered that he did, in fact, have mortal followers. He reached through reality to contact them, and set about trying to conceive of a way to escape. In due time...

Notes: Shikage is a true immortal. Or, rather, there are only two ways to kill him. The first way is to destroy every shadow. However, this would destroy everything, since something without a shadow ceases to exist. The other way is to destroy everything, but this presents obvious problems.

The counter-balance to this is that Shikage is, well, a shadow. Technically speaking, he does not physically exist. No physical or magical attack can harm him, but at the same time, he can't do much in the way of physical or magical attacks.

At the beginning of time, Shikage is truly omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. At its end, however, he is nearly powerless, so much so that a stiff breeze quite literally could kill him. His is at the midpoint of his power approximately 15 trillion years into the Universe's existance.

What has become of Aither is unknown.

Other Titles: Psychotic :censored:
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Divine Ranks: Unknown. All of it is stolen.
Divine Portfolio: Breaking the 4th wall, embracing the 'darker' emotions, fanfiction, grudges, senseless rebellion, violent mood swings
Domains: Liberation, Lust, Madness, Wrath

Associates: Usually none. Currently on the plane of Tyrannor she works with Kayne, Disciple of the Ultimate, and Sssargoth, the Psionic Dragon.
Clerical Training: jagggar rarely has any clerics or followers. Any clerics that do happen to exist cannot cast spells unless divine spells are completely unrelated to the deities in that setting/plane/cosmos/etc. jagggar refuses to be called a god(dess).
Quests: The quests of any rare followers is to seek out and destory the follower's personal archnemesis. If the archnemesis dies by anything but the follower's hand (or weapon or spell...) or the follower dies first, the quest is failed. If this quest is completed, the follower often chooses another archnemesis.
Prayers: Whenever the follower feels like it. If jagggar is on the plane and has nothing better to do, she will seek out and slaughter the source of any prayers.
Temples: None.
Rites: None.?
Herald and Allies: chibi jagggar. Cute, half as tall as jagggar, and chubby, she is ADHD, on a constant sugar high, and completely ignorant of the nature of good and evil (and still doesn't understand why it's wrong to eat people).
Relics: selfone (a cell phone (battery now dead) dropped on accident and never recovered. it has no powers, but confounds many people)

Odd, I didn't see the links the first time I went there.

No, no. Psychotic :censored: is one of her titles (actually mine). Without the smilie or getting yelled at for bad language, it translates to "psychotic female dog" :P Argueing on the Internet may be pointless, but it gets you fun titles like that. :D

I'm tempted to create a deity called "Ish-eth" and one called "Nessism" I'm not quite sure what they'd be deities of though. (Inspired by the most recent off topicish stuff at the GoUE.)

And what do you mean no one knows what's happened to Aither? She's not even a day old . . . Unless time has passed, has time passed?

Well, I was assuming that *some* time had passed. As since, roughly 50% of the time, Aither is Chaotic, she don't stick around. 50% of the time, anyway.
jagggar

05-25-06, 05:18 PM
Maybe 50% of her is there? :P Or is it here? Where is here? How do we start this off. . .

jagggar opened her eyes. "Yeah, this is really where I meant to end up." The plane was half black and half white but it was unclear which half was which. A grandfather clock floated here and a kitchen sink there. This was an undiscovered plane, far more interesting than a divinely morphic plane the first living (or unliving, but not non-living) being to arrive accidentally had full control of its shaping until it could shape itself.

She concentrated and a blue grassland-plane formed, dotted with violet leaved trees. A green sun shone overhead in an orange-yellow sky. She summoned her small sheet of paper and writing utensil, jotted something, and the paper turned into a red and white sphere. She tossed and a small pink form came forth.

"Mew?"

"Go have fun."

So close and now the key to his distruction had disappeared. She closed her eyes, headache pounding as the pink creature started creating friends for itself.

Well, see, the thing about the Shard, and Aither, is that they're supposed to be plot devices, along the lines of the One Ring. They show up when dramatically appropriate, are always are on people's minds, but aren't necessarily always there. Point of fact, Shikage's supposed to be something like Sauron. Emerges only when dramatically appropriate.

But let's see if I can't spice things up. Maybe a new player. One much more familiar? Yes. Same origin as Flaveedamon, but different. Very different.

Something different this time. Yes. Point of fact, I'm reaching back to my first Digimon fanfic for this one. My digimon fanfics were always very fantasy-oriented, anyway.

Negari
Overlady; Goddess of Light (worshippers only); False Light (non-worshippers only.)
Greater Goddess (DR 20)
Symbol: A cat superimposed over the sun with a crescent moon above, horns pointed down,
Home Plane: Digital World (alternate Reality); Earth (alternate reality)
Alignment: Neutral Evil (note that Negari allows Neutral Good clerics)
Portfolio: Light, conquest, expansion, deserts, piety, cats.
Worshippers: Digimon (all) (alternate reality); Humans (all) (alternate reality); Hybrids (all) (alternate reality); slowly beginning to expand into other worlds
Cleric Alignments: NG, N, LE, NE, CE
Domains: Animal, Destruction, Light, Magic, Sun
Favored Weapons: Claws (tiger claws)

Cleric Training
Clerics of Negari shave their heads bald (if they have hair) and always wear tiger claw weapons on at least their right hand (if they don't have natural claw attacks). In her own Reality, they brutally enforce her will; in other Realities they act as missionaries and prosetylizers, portraying her as a being of light. Negari instantly slays any of her clerics who kill or otherwise mistreat a cat, unless that cat is directly threatening her.

Quests
Ascent of the Great Ziggaraut: Clerics who worship Negari are expected to, at least once in their lives, ascent to the top of the Great Ziggaraut in the Digital World, beholding Negari in all her glory and recieving marks on their heads of great power. Negari even grants some of those that do the rank of quasi-deity or even higher, though never above DR 5.

Prayers
Prayers to Negari are said at dawn or at high noon. They consist of burnt offerings and animal sacrifices, usually sheep, cows, or pigs.

Temples
Temples to Negari are always constructed of stone and are built in the shape of pyramids or ziggarauts. They include a grand statue of the goddess, and often include cat-like guardians and stutues. Flames are kept burning day and night.

Heralds and Allies
None, as of yet. In her own Reality, Negari slew all other gods in her ascent to power.

Relics
Ring of Negari: The original item that allowed for Negari's ascension to quasi-deity status, Negari no longer needs it to maintain her Divine Rank. It contains the reaped souls of the Four Gods of her reality: Qinglong (water), Zhuqaio (fire), Baihu (wind), and Xuanwu (earth). She bestows it on her most trusted and loyal servants. The Ring instantly ascends them to DR 5 and gives them powers over the four Classical Elements. The souls of the Four Gods are lost forever and cannot be restored. Additionally, the Ring does not grant bonus Divine Ranks to beings that already have DR. In fact, if put onto a being with a Divine Rank of higher then 5, it automatically reduces them to DR 5 until removed - and this can only happen with Negari's will.

Unique Abilities
When in her own Reality (which includes its own cosmology consisting of Earth (Prime), Paradisa, (celestial), the Pit (fiendish), the Bright Inferno (positive), the Dark Ocean (negative) and the Digitial World (other)), Negari is treated as having a Divine Rank of 25 for the purposes of negating other deity's powers and subduing mortals. When in her Ziggaraut, she is treated as having a Divine Rank of 30 for the purposes of negating other deity's powers and subduing mortals.

History
Negari - or Negarimon, as she is known to her digimon worshippers - was not born; she was made.

When the digimon known as Devimon was reborn, he used his control over the Black Gears to enslave the Chosen child Hikari and her digimon partner, Gatomon. He then used the Ring of Light to enforce a True Evolution, mering Gatomon and Hikari into Negarimon. However, he underestimated Negarimon's power. Negarimon destroyed the Black Gear and, moments later, Devimon.

Negari, however, had been corrupted by the dark power of the Black Gears. She proceeded to conquer the Digital World, altering it so that the Gods could do nothing to stop her and so that its time flowed differently from that of Earth. By the time the other Chosen Children came to try and rescue Hikari, she had grown in power that, even when they True Evolved, she was able to slay them all. Unopposed, she then challeneged the Four Gods, ascending to Intermediate Deityhood. Once this happened, she began an assault on Earth and conquered it, then took over the rest of her Reality.

Negari then began changing her Reality to suit her needs. She began breeding and experimentation programs, creating hybrids of Digimon and Humans that now make up more then 40% of her world's population. As she repaced all the great religions of her Reality, her power also continued to grow.

Negari has only recently began expanding into other Realities, as she only recently learned of their existance. But she will conquer them - for she is the Light...

For the benefit of jagggar...

Deity Name
Any alternate titles
Deity Rank (DR number)
Symbol: The symbol that represents the deity, a la the crucifix
Home Plane: The plane that your deity resides in, a la Hell, Bytopia...
Alignment: Deity's alignment
Portfolio: What your deity is the deity of
Worshippers: People who worship your deity
Cleric Alignments: Alignments that your deity allows to follow her or him
Domains: Deity's domains
Favored Weapons: The favored weapons of your deity's clerics.

Cleric Training
The typical way clerics of your deity look, act, dress. Example: Catholic preists tend to dress in all black with a white torque. They are expected to be and to remain chaste, to head sermons, to offer sacrifices in the form of bread and wine, and to dance.

Or at least, I'd have them dance.

Quests
Like, any special quests or journeys that your deity's followers are expected to take. Like the Hajj in Islam.

Prayers
When prayers are said to your God, what they consist of.

Temples
The typical style of the temples of your god, such as architecture, what's inside, what it offers, etc.

Heralds and Allies
Heralds I guess are like saints. Allies are gods that your god is allied with.,

Relics
Special items that your god has, such as a piece of the True Cross in Christianity (or the Holy Grail)

Unique Abilities
I added this. Unique abilities your god has.

History
I added this as well. A brief history of your deity, as detailed or sparse as you like.

Yeah, I had it back in the day when it was formatted te way FRCS has it, but now they go and add all these fancy things.

I'd say one of the reasons I don't "get it" is because I lean towards partial deity creation. While in my setting clerics and other worshipers might act this way, maybe the clerics and worshipers in your setting take a different spin on the god.

Are Allies other gods? I've got a Dragon with the mesopotamian gods (I don't know if they're as butchered as the pantheons in D&DG) and it seems to mostly list outsiders of various types for allies.

And are others going to kill us for this? Pokemon and Digimon.

[I'm posting this both here and in the other thread on the D&D boards. Why? Wanna see just how different they can turn out to be,]

At last, the Great Ziggaraut was truly complete.

Negari stood atop the ziggaraut, at the top of a tall pinnacle barely more then two feet wide, but maintaining her balance easily. Her white fur glimmered in the sun, as did her red eyes and the jeweled, golden headband she wore set with a diamond of uncalcuable worth. The white cape and thin, white robes she wore billowed in the wind. From here, more then half a mile up into the sky, she beheld the Faithful, her most loyal, most devout peons and servants - more then a million of them. All around her floated devices, both sorcerous and scientific in origin, transmitting through time and space her image and the image of the ziggaraut to her billions of followers throughout her Reality.

Her Reality. Her only Reality.

But not for long.

Negari lifted one arm, hand limp, claws drawn and glimmering in the sunlight, Above, the sun seemed to flare up and brighten, tendrils of light and power reaching out to her Faithful, absorbing them and throwing them, hundreds at a time, to far-distant realities and planes of existance. They knew what they had to do; they knew their purpose and job already.

Negari smiled to herself, crossing her arms and slipping through space, into the deepest bowls of her ziggeraut, lit by crystal fire, a fusion of science and magic where her power was at its absolute zennith.

"And so it begins."

Looks like they didn't want to take the bait.

So, here's my inital rant on "Statting God".

Once upon quite some time ago, jagggar and her mom went to the bookstore. After a little bit of puppy-dog face, jagggar went home with two books: the Bible (NIV) and the Player's Handbook (3.0).

Now, at the moment jagggar wasn't entirely comfortable. There were those echos of people shouting "D&D is evil!" after searching online for some time she decided a few things. People attempting to make an explictly [name of faith here] looked even crazier than the D&D people did. Maybe if jagggar removed divine casters. . . And a Dungeons & Dragons Addict (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://www.mjyoung.net/dungeon/confess.html&origin=) made the most sense. (Of course jagggar's idea of D&D with no divine casters fell through.)

jagggar found out through a couple of poorly ran games, that her characters without a god or clear life philosophy turned out to be those pitiful neutral or wanna-be evil characters with no motivation.

So anyways, jagggar eventually went off to college and had quite the course on Biblical Literature. After the course, it came to jagggar how one could "stat God" for use as a D&D deity.

Now, first of all, this doesn't just go for the Judeo-Christian God, but for all 'Real World' gods and pantheons. The following isn't the way you MUST do it, but the way I MIGHT do it if I was going to go all out.

Use Ebberon's rules reguarding clerical alignments. Just because the god is good doesn't mean its followers always are and just because a follower is good doesn't mean the god always is. It allows for corruption within a god's following without the god needing to be evil.

Give the benefit of the doubt. Unless you're outlining a god who's pantheon and myth of origin deems evil, the god shouldn't be evil.

Pay attention to which myth you're using. Maybe the myths you're reading about the god are different from the ones someone else is reading. You may want to note what myth(s) you're basing the god's outline of so someone else with a different book of myths can't yell at you for screwing up so badly. Your myth that you're using can also be another's simplified rehash of the myth. If you wanted to do the Greek pantheon you could use actual greek myths as your background or you could use Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess as your base myth or you could even use Disney's Hercules as your myth. If you're using a media representation, especially the last one, you should probably point it out so you aren't beaten to death by myth experts.

Offer multiple write-ups of the god. Some myth sources today might be complied myths from days of old. Specificly, the Old Testament shows four writing styles. Some stories such as Noah's Flood or the book of Job can be broken down based on those writing styles and, treated as seperate accounts, can offer different views of the Judeo-Christian God. These different views can each be given their own write-up of God.

Use fictional gods for evil representations of 'Real World' gods. While this is similar to the benefit of the doubt, I think it's important enough to say two ways. Even if it might be okay with your current group, you might have a prospective player who is offended by X-god being evil in your game and would refuse just because of that. It's basicly a way of covering your ass, but if Disney already made Hades evil because they needed a villian for their movie, you've already got your ass covered by theirs.

The War Father
The Thrice-Forged, The War Father of Acheron
Greater Deity (DR: 20)
Symbol: A burning Greataxe being upraised by a mechanical arm.
Home Plane: Acheron
Alignment: LE
Portfolio: Warfare, Constructs, Evil, Law, Destruction, Strength, Fire
Worshippers: Intelligent Constructs, Generals, Blackguards, etc.
Cleric Alignments: NE, LE, CE
Domains: War, Law, Evil, Destruction, Strength, Fire
Favored Weapons: The Thrice-Forged Blade, Greataxe
Cleric Training
The Clerics of the War Father are always multi-classed with a melee oriented focus, such as a Cleric-Fighter, or Cleric-Barbarian. Their ways are always brutal & methodical, and they are always the controlling force in battle. The most known quest for an Initiate of The Thrice-Forged Order is thus: An Initiate is required to defeat a construct of the Temple-Master's choice (usually an Iron Golem) while armed only with light armor & a Construct Bane weapon. (always a Greataxe) They are expected to overcome the threat using their wits & their ability to asses the situation, using everything in their surroundings to their benefit.

Quests
The Thrice-Forged Order's quests are always life threatening & rarely does an Initiate pass such a quest. Chosen Initiates are selected to recieve Construct Grafts & those of the best stature are gifted with the Father's Blessing. (Half-Golem template)

Prayers
Typical prayers to the War Father include: " War Father, grant me your strength of arms so that I may smite my enemy in your name......." or " Thrice-Forged, patron of the faith, their is a blasphemer among us; allow me to be the light of your purifying flame, let my burning axe cleanse the flesh of the impure......."

Temples
Acheron, home of the War Father & his children; constructs of every shape, living or mindless. The entire subterranean levels of the plane have been carved into an immense, mechanical fortress; ever changing as the Father's whim changes with each passing moment.

Heralds and Allies
The Heralds of The War Father are always constructs; most common being a Warforged Fighter 20 or Barbarian 20. He is loosely aligned with the deity known as Deimos De Malus, seeing the dead god's lust for the souls of the living as a way to help him "cleanse" the sick & weak from the planes.

Relics
The Thrice-Forged Blade is an immense, burning greataxe, created and wielded by the War Father himself. It is capable of cleaving even the mightiest of Dragons into bloody ribbons with a mere swing of its gleaming blade.

Unique Abilities
The abilities of the Thrice-Forged are limitless; and most are so extravagant that they are render unperceptable by a mind that is not under the teachings of the War Father. The most noted however is the ability to turn any construct, from the lowliest Homunculus to the greatest Warforged into a force of unstoppable, tireless bloodshed at the will of the Father.

History
The War Father, as his name implies, is thrice-forged. His body is the personification of perfection. He is war incarnate, methodical and brutal at the same time. He is never viewed in the same form, as he alters his mechanical body at will as his whims change. He is forever grafting, enhancing, and modifying himself further and further becoming an engine of destruction. One thing which never changes however is the Thrice-Forged Blade, the burning greataxe which is always grasped in his hands.

*You see an Elven man walk in. He is wearing a black chain shirt, a black cloak, and he has two black swords with the draconic rune for shadow inscribed on them. He lifts his cloak’s hood up, and you see a pale face and pitch black eyes. His hands are emanating silver Eldritch Energy.*

Hello. My name is Baelreth Ansraliavel, or in common, Spellguardian Shadowrunesword, roughly. I prefer my elven name, thank you. I have traveled far through the shadows to get here. You see, I’m a deity of shadow. For what I’ve heard, 4th floor is deities only. May I go up?

This means, can I join? Here’s the description of my deity:

Baelreth Ansraliavel
Shadow King, Ruali, Baelleth, Ansrali
Lesser Deity (Shadowcaster 10/Dream Monk 20/Warlock 10)
Symbol: The Draconic Rune for Shadow on across two Elven Thinblades which are crossed in a “X”
Home Plane: The Plane of Shadow
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Portfolio: Elves, Shadow, Illusion, Dreams, Arcana, Half-Elves, Swordsmanship, Shadowcasters, Mysteries, Trunames, Trunamers
Worshippers: Elves, Shadowcasters, Warlocks, Dream Monks (homebrew), Illuisonists, Monks, Swordsmen, Half-Elves, Shadowdancers, Trunamers
Cleric Alignments: Any non-evil neutral (LN, NG, TN, CN)
Domains: Darkness, Destruction, Chaos, Luck, Trickery
Favored Weapons: Elven Thinblades

Baelreth Ansraliavel usually appears an adult elf with pure black eyes and hair. He wears a black mithral chain shirt and wears two black mithral Elven Thinblades. He has eldritch power emanating from his hands, silver in color.

Cleric Training
Clerics of Baelreth Ansraliavel usually dress in shadowed armor, with training with the Elven Thinblade as a part of them. All clerics of Baelreth are proficient in it. All weapons of Baelreth have the draconic rune of shadow carved upon them, as well as the armor.

Quests
Followers of Baelreth Ansraliavel usually take a trip to a cave in the Elven lands in which they have a portal, which allows them to view the plane of shadow.

Prayers
Prayers to Baelreth usually consist of meditation through sword use.

Temples
The typical styles of the temples are that they are dark, and have Monks and Clerics training in the use of swords. They usually have a main altar that is constantly doused by a light from an arcane source.

Heralds and Allies
There are no “heralds” of Baelreth, however, he is allies with Correlon Larethian.

Relics
One relic is a +5 shock Elven Thinblade, and another is the Robe of Stars.

Unique Abilities
The Shadow King has multiple unique abilities. They are:

--Immunity to damage from spells with the “shadow” descriptor
--To create anything out of shadow (including spells)
--To put a rune on his most loyal clerics that makes them able to mimic wizard illusion spells
--To teleport and throw his voice through shadow
--Ability to manipulate Eldritch Energy to blast

History
Baelreth Ansraliavel was born an elf into the community of Rua. He was an anomaly. His black eyes set him apart from the crowd. He was sent to the shadows constantly, always had to keep out of sight. He eventually went to the Arcane University, and there he learned how to manipulate shadow. He became an outcast there as well. Eventually, he traveled to a monastery and found a kind of peace there. There he trained as a Dream Monk. Once his training was done, he decided to give AU another chance. He went back there and trained as a warlock. By this time, he had immense power. In a fight while adventuring, he died. He was sent to the plane of shadow. There, he was reincarnated by Correlon Larethian. He became a lesser deity, and was given abilities that allowed him to master the shadow totally.

I love the Elf-name table in RoW.... :D . I used meanings, not random though. I really wanted a good deity for the Dream Monks too...Plus, I wanted to break out of the arrogant elf deity idea.

I always felt we needed more Elf Dieties anywayz, not enough of them. We need a few (or 10 :P) more.

I KNOW! How many core are there? One? (also, got Tome of Magic, adding truenamers and shadowcasters to portfolio&worshipers)

I heard ToM is good. How good is it?

Really. The only confusing thing is how the mysteries work. I, however, prefer truename magic (lots of defense, offense, etc., plus fun long magical words!)!

Mmm... mysteries? What are they?

Shadowcaster spells/SLA/SU. That's why it's confuzzling!

Ooo... I heard about that and it's confusingness. I should like go and make a un-confusing remix.

I'll actually be away on vacation for a few days, but I'll be reviewing moreso then.

EDIT: Didn't see Kobold_Ur_Preist's post. Do you think the truenamer is underpowered? (I do)

Remmington Parrish
The Deranged Healer, Lord of Scalpals, Ascended Psycho
Deity Rank (7)
Symbol: A bloody scalpal.
Home Plane: The Abyss (78th and 79th Layer)
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Portfolio: Pain, Healing, Torture, Disease, Insanity
Worshippers: Torturers, Insane Healers
Cleric Alignments: CE
Domains: Chaos, Decay, Evil, Healing, Madness, Pain
Favored Weapons: Dagger (Scalpal)

Cleric Training
Clerics of Remmington tend to wear long, white healer's robes splattered with blood. They tend to have mad, sadistic grins on their faces, but this is due to the nature of their deity, not a required thing. They prefer torture and curses over outright killing in combat, but can run the gamut of strategies.

Quests
Followers of Remmington usually go on monthly hostage round ups so that they'll have fresh batches of victims to try out their newest techniques on.

Prayers
Often after torturing people to death, followers either thank Remmington for such a hardy subject (if the victim survived for a long time) or apologize for being too quick (if the victim died swiftly) often by holding up their torture instrument and whispering words in Abyssal.

Temples
Often disguised as healing houses, temples to Remmington usually keep their activities quite and hidden in soundproofed dungeons filled with torture and medical devices of all sorts.

Heralds and Allies
Usually, Remmington sends Fetcher (Unique Retriever Ranger 7), a Retriever given sentience by Remmington, along with some hunting skills. Though few dieties are willing to ally themselves with someone as crazy as Remmington, some pain dieties find him amusing to be around thanks to his healing and hurting abilities. Most creatures summoned by his worshippers are demons, though specific ones are near impossible to pick out due to the hodge podge nature of his army.

Relics
The Scalpal of Pain was the first scalpal ever used by Remmington when he was a mortal. It was lost ages ago and if Remminton knows where it is, he isn't telling anybody or anything. It is a +5 Bloodfeeding Keen Wounding Dagger capable of casting any spells from the domains granted by him three times per day, and grants a +10 Profane bonus to all Knowledge (Religion) when making sacrifices to him with it and to all Intimidate checks made when used as a torture device. It bestows one negative level and deals one Con damage each round to any Lawful or Good creature attempting to wield it, or two negative levels and two Con damage each round to any Lawful Good creature attempting to wield it. These negative levels persist as long as the creature wields it and cannot be restored by any means, but disappear as soon as the weapon is no longer weilded and never result in actual level loss.

Unique Abilities
Remmington can use all spells that he is capable of granting at will at caster level 30 as spell-like abilities. Furthermore, he can cause such intense pain to anyone he touches, their body falls apart. If he touches someone and wills them to feel fatal pain, they must make a DC 39 Fortitude save or become Helpless and begin taking 1 Str, Dex, and Con damage each round until dead or has Break Enchantment cast upon them.

History
Originally a simple healer for a small healing house, Remmington was one day gripped with such madness, that he began performing acts of such depravity, not even the Book of Vile Darkness could have such evil inscribed in it's pages. Among the less monstrous of acts, he used healing magic to heal those he tormented so that they could stay alive longer, made sacrifices for the sake of sacrifice, and drove others as mad as him. He eventually gained so much power, that he overthrew several lesser Demon Lords, infused their power in to him, and declared himself a god. Little else is known about him, or why, or even how he did what he did.

Deity Rank (Is this like CR?)

No.
Divine Rank is dictated by what class of Diety the God/Goddes is.
In order from Least to Greatest:
Quasi-Diety
Demi God
Lesser God
Intermidiate Diety
Greater God
Over Diety

Remmington is likely a Demi God since he is one of many pain gods and is a specialist diety of Torture.
Remmington looks to be a God of Pain caused by Torture.

Home Plane: Abyss

The Abyss
His home plane can't be The whole Abyss. Heck Lolth only controls part of one layor.
What is his Home plane called?
Which Layor is it on?

Thats not Clerical Training.
Thats a description of how they look.
Tell us how Clerics-to-be are trained.

Which demons in perticular?
There are a limitless numbers and types of demons.
You need to choose a few not the whole race.

He would have had to gain a great number of worshipers and/or kill a god to become a god. You dont simply say "i am a god" and you become a god.

Actually, you've got it backwards. Divine Ranks determine what class/category of deity a divine character is, rather than the other way around. IIRC:

0 DvR - Quasi-Deity
1-5 DvR - Demi-god
6-10 DvR - Lesser God
11-15 DvR - Intermediate God
16-20 DvR - Greater God
21+ DvR - Over-deity

True, but I normally go with DnD and Forgotten Realms rules.

So RPGfan you can take the statment Jagggar quoted as you see fit.:)

True, but I normally go with DnD and Forgotten Realms rules.

I prefer variations of the old Wrath of the Immortals rules. I typically go for substitution of sites of power, consecrated artifacts, and such for worshippers. Worshippers don't necessarily fit the image of some powerful deities.

*walks onto the second floor covered in blood*

Ok maybe i should be on the third floor, not important.

*kneels down and begins asking*

Oh please, we need help, the entire guild of paladins has been slaughtered and if it hadn't been for preemptive thinking, then we'd all be dead right now. Can any good deity (or neutral, at this point, we're not very picky) help us?

*A scaled, black figure with glowing silver eyes and a dark green robe with red symbols on it walks in after DJM.* "I can help. My "trump card" was that I'm a demigod. Also, the entire guild has not been slain. Most weren't even present for the battle. I will concede that it was a combination of luck and... uh... more luck... that we weren't. However, I am in the process of massing another army after the last was mostly destroyed (damn zeppelins!).
turalisj

01-07-07, 04:41 PM
Even a demigod can be killed. Look at Hercules. Slain by his own wife. As for the army, you have no need to worry about me attacking again. The egg was all we wanted.
DemonDavyJones

01-07-07, 04:57 PM
Oh, I'm no fool. Even gods can be killed, though I know nothing about the overdieties that would suggest that they can be. I was simply saying that technically a demigod is a diety, and I am one, and good alinged, which is an answer to DJM's question. As for the army, the GOUE may decide to assault us in our moment of weakness. Also, if you ever require something of us, please at least ask before you show up at the door with an army. ;)
