| DungeonJman03-05-07, 11:21 PM | Ok, this is going to be the healing center for the paladins on the site of the old halls of refuge and the main food and money provider as a hospital (outside of Waken's enterprises). It will be taken out of disrepair when we have the funds. Even in disrepair, the cathedral still retains its magnificent wonder and aura of serenity and peace. The orchard next to it is the same way. Well, finally got here. Better start getting things arranged in some way. *begins walking throughout the empty cathedral noting all of the rooms and the space within them.* I just wish that i had brought some more supplies other than the basis for the orchard, basic healing kits, and rations. *after that's done* Well, ok, but there's still no way to make a profit unless.... *sigh* aw man, that's going to be a real pain in the rear since Bytopians only trade secrets for very, very hard work. Like saving them from an epic threat or something. *starts walking over back to the gate that took him here, and from there to the GoP gate* |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 07:46 PM | A large metal lobster lumbers into view. The lid pops off and a white kitten jumps out. Soon afterwords a little white head comes out as well. Hello! I've been swimming around the island and I think I got lost. Which part is this? |
| DungeonJman03-07-07, 07:48 PM | Note: Technically i'm not here, so we'd have to get Demonfey to have Shiny give the answer. |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 08:58 PM | Hi Twinkle! We're on the mainland! |
| DungeonJman03-07-07, 09:00 PM | OOC: Ok, bad idea. |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 09:01 PM | Shiny! What's this place then? Is it the Guild of Ark Mages? |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 09:10 PM | No, this's part of the Guild of Paladins. He jumps on the AoK Come on, let's find the Council! |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 09:13 PM | What's a Paladin? And you want to ride in my lobster and go find the Ark Mages? And this is Snowball! Look! And got you! She pelts him with a snowball which materializes in her hand. |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 09:17 PM | Paladins are the people like Waken, the nice horsey lady! An hi, Snowball! He moves closer to the kitten fast enough to avoid the snowball (let's hear it for improved evasion), and looks up as it passes over his head. Aw, why can't I do that? |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 09:22 PM | Didja ever try? She makes another snowball and hands it to him. The she presses one of the levers and makes the lights come on. Come on, try it! It's really fun! |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 09:25 PM | Yeah. I then tried to install a snowball maker once, but it didn't work. He tosses the snowball at Twinkle. |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 09:26 PM | She giggles at being hit with the snow. Wanna see a bigger one? |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 09:33 PM | Okay! |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 09:35 PM | A ball of snow as big as he is materializes next to him and starts rolling after him. Twinkle comes out and balances on top of it. Hee hee hee! |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 09:40 PM | He begins dodging it at full speed. Evading with a 30 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=908938). |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 09:45 PM | And here's an even bigger one! "Snowball" (= Fireball), right above the building, so it looks like there's been a snowstorm in about a 20 ft. radius. Want to go see the Ark mages now? |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 09:54 PM | This one, he narrowly dodges. 17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=908971) Okay! Lets go! |
| CaptainShar03-07-07, 10:04 PM | Come on in! See now this one closes it, and this one makes it walk... She flips all the levers, and shows him the Bottle of Air inside that lets them breathe, and then lets him flip all the levers. Then she starts it going. Is this the right direction? |
| Demonfey03-07-07, 10:08 PM | Cool! He jumps in the machine, and looks at her operate it. He doesn't use any of the air, however. Think so. That way! |
| gabrion03-21-07, 12:22 AM | Hehe...not that it matters much, but there was an old guild here once upon a time with the same name as this. The thread is here http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-543672 if you want to take a look. |
| Tenzhi03-21-07, 04:11 AM | Wow. An Apparatus of Kwalish. It's not often you actually see one, much less actually see one being used. |
| DungeonJman03-21-07, 08:45 AM | @Gabrion Well, that's the point, the old one got archived, so i made this one |
| Demonfey03-21-07, 04:25 PM | Hey Gabe. Is this a sign that you're coming back to the games? |
| CaptainShar03-22-07, 09:20 PM | Waken sends a few healer-ish oriented citizens from King's Pyre to start sweeping the place out and setting up wards, beds, kitchens, etc. in preparation for occupation. |
| gabrion03-26-07, 09:05 PM | Hey Gabe. Is this a sign that you're coming back to the games? Actually I was just reminiscing about old pastimes so I decided to stop by here and see how things are going. I don't see myself becoming very forum active again, but then again I also didn't think I would try another real adventures game until I saw that Kingside Bishop was back and running his planar game again, which I'm trying to get into now. Hehe....as usually I exposed myself to the forums just a little bit and they reach out with hooked claws and grab ahold of me. We'll see how I do at getting free this time. :D In any case, it looks like ya'll are doing well here. I haven't been able to read through and figure out all of what's going on, but the place is still alive and that at least is good news! |
| CaptainShar04-22-07, 08:02 PM | The Noumenal Blade glides into an inlet, the deck crowded with passengers, for once. They all look to the shore, with its orchards and its large buildings, as the anchor is lowered and the gangplank set. Shar gives the order for Waken's casket to be walked down to the orchard. (Probably either Ray or DungeonJ could conduct the actual ceremony.) |
| DungeonJman04-22-07, 09:35 PM | OOC: Don't look at me, i'd say why my char couldn't, but it involves a RL religious explanation, just suffice it to say that i believe a person should be buried by the cleric of their own faith. |
| CaptainShar04-22-07, 10:52 PM | (That's fine; if Ray doesn't do it, I'll just invent an NPC.) |
| Orcy The Green Wonder04-22-07, 11:42 PM | Kaer-Thok walks up into the air and down to the ground instead of waiting to walk down the ramp. He places a fist over his heart and bows as they bring the casket down. Following that, he turns and looks around the area, sniffing and frowning at the building in disrepair. He dusts off his vest and scratches his chin, having never looked around for his robes he shrugs and waits to see what the others will do. |
| CaptainShar04-22-07, 11:53 PM | Twinkle arrives to silently watch, hovering over the area. Shar emerges from her cabin, dressed in an elegant black coat and pants and boots, and a white shirt with a frothy white collar. Friends, I wish to recount the life of Sir Waken Skydame, Charger of the Heavens, Chief Messenger of the Guild of Paladins, and Lady of King's Pyre. Shar lifts up her voice in a song, epic-poem style, recounting all of Waken's deeds. The recitation is enough to make even the hardest-hearted weep, but it ends on a note of hope that goodness and joy can live, and live on. Perform: 25 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=994277) (Anyway, Night all.) |
| CaptainShar04-23-07, 03:48 PM | A centauress and a solar angel arrive from Arborea and Celestia; they start off by keeping their distance from each other, but by the end they are united by the thought of their daughter, who was truly good. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder04-23-07, 04:43 PM | Kaer-Thok glances over at the two parents of Waken and coughs. He glances around shiftey eyed for a moment and starts to slowly slink away from the area. Of course, with a bright golden cape and red vest, he is a bit easier to spot than he'd like to be at the moment. |
| CaptainShar04-23-07, 05:58 PM | Stay, Kaer-Thok. The least you can do is to stay. To the group: Will any step forth to put her body at rest? |
| Demonfey04-23-07, 06:01 PM | Dal does. He begins digging a hole for her. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder04-23-07, 06:11 PM | Kaer-Thok sighs and turns, glancing toward the dead paladin's parents. His mask still covering the lower half of his face makes it hard to tell wether he is smiling, frowning, or just watching. He glances back toward Dalion and folds his hands together, rocking back on his heels a bit restlessly. |
| CaptainShar04-23-07, 06:11 PM | And I shall say the blessings. A second solar, more magnificent than the first, and arrayed in the colors of the Celestial Army, steps forward. Waken, daughter of the Lord Manderly and called by some Skydame, of the mingled lines of Celestia and Arborea, was a faithful servant of Pelor in all her days. She fought against evil fearlessly, and bestowed a righteous mercy on all. Her prowess in battle was rivaled only by her beauty. She was slain honorably. Her goodness and devotion assure her a place among the saints; even now she has ascended to the joyous realms we know not. But by her life, may we all be inspired to goodness, courage, and love. Here he kneels above the casket, administering the simple prayer of the army: Gods of goodness, take these faithful souls. The casket is lowered and the ground replaced. Shar starts crying silently. The extraplanar visitors leave. |
| Demonfey04-23-07, 06:16 PM | Dal, on the other hand, took two things from the corpse beforehand, the point of which quickly becomes evident as he marks the grave by shoving the double scimitar into the ground at the head of where she was buried, and the flower he made for her as well, planting it in the ground as well before standing up again. Rest well, Waken. |
| DungeonJman04-23-07, 06:23 PM | You died an honorable death, and were possibly one of the best members that the Guild of Paladins had. We shall all miss you Waken. *as DungeonJ heads back to the boad, it is obvious that he is crying* |
| CaptainShar04-23-07, 06:26 PM | Shar dries her tears on her handkerchief, then motions to the mourners. If anyone else wishes to say a few words, or be silent, that is good. But also, we should not stay sad forever; I don't know how we'll ever replace her here on this plane, but she herself has died well and gone on to joyful rest. Let us have a feast in her honor, and it is not amiss to enjoy life ourselves while we still hold it. Her coat is back to its normal colorful state, and her crew starts bringing out food and tables. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder04-23-07, 06:28 PM | Kaer-Thok looks about making sure nobody is sneaking up with intent-to-stab. He bows before the grave and clears his throat. "I'm sure I'm not the one most of you wish to be hearing from at the moment... but still, here it is. We say many things for the departed, many words that have meaning in each culture. The plainsmen of Mygrod say 'Agenel-nek-lan azogar' and the Sangorians might say 'Anananara Sanagora.' My people say may your strength never fade, and may your greatness never dull. But of all these things, they mean on their most basic level the same thing. Fare thee well in thy next life, until we meet again, you shall be remembered." |
| Orcy The Green Wonder04-24-07, 05:56 PM | After the uncomfortable silence following his words Kaer-Thok clears his throat. He bows and stands up, backing up a step or two. "Well... I should be on my way. It would not be appropriate for me to stay for the celebration of the woman's life, having not truely known her. I bid you all safe travels, I should really be on my way.." Kaer-Thok turns and looks around, heading toward the nearest road he can find. |
| Demonfey04-24-07, 10:17 PM | Likewise, Dal begins walking as well, except he's heading towards the CoA. |
| CaptainShar05-09-07, 08:38 PM | Nedin walks into the front of the building, nodding to the few people working there. Do we have any patients? Any with serious illnesses or injuries? Nedin visits the patients the normal caretakers are unable to cure, and cures them. |
| CaptainShar05-12-07, 03:37 PM | Shar heals herself a bit on the voyage, then pays the Halls for the rest. 3 CLW (self): 10, 9, 6 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1039044) Pay 30 gp to get another three CLW: CLW (NPC cleric casting)4, 5, 2 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1039053) (Now at 62 out of 69 HP) Guess that'll do. I may have an interesting new scar on my arm here, after the last of this this heals up, to boot. They sail off again. |
| CaptainShar05-25-07, 11:44 PM | Ah, my new home. Let's get this place into some kind of order. (I'm going to make plans for the place, unless some already exist and people want to let me know where they are.) Nedin pulls out the composite longbow he's been making and starts whittling and fitting and stretching again. Craft (Bowmaking): 33, 28 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1070487) 1386 out of 4000 for the bow, 980 out of 3000 for Masterwork |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 07:14 PM | Three skeletons and a pair of corpses carrying shovels over their shoulders make their way toward the graveyard of the Halls of Refuge. They look around and speak quietly to eachother on their way. Moving slowly toward the graves and looking over the headstones. Aiming particularly for any fresh graves that might be around. |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 08:07 PM | Nedin notices them (*Detect Evil*) and flies on over. And what might you folks be doing? It looks as though you're a little past our help, here. And this is a place of rest, even for the few we're too late to save. So please be leaving the corpses alone. (There are one or two fresh graves; Waken's is three weeks old, but you shan't make her into a zombie.) |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 08:13 PM | One of the skeletons looks over to Nedin. It's eyes flare for a moment with a strange, dark light. It's jaw clacks and grinds for a moment before it opens it, a voice coming though the mouth doesn't move any more. "We require soldiers. There is war coming against a foe that even you do not wish to see victorious. Without soldiers, we will have... lesser ability to win against this foe. Stand aside." ((Oh? Why shan't I? Was there some sort of spell cast over the corpse to keep it from rising as the dead that I hadn't noticed? Didn't think so... and zombie? No, zombies are too stupid.)) |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 08:17 PM | Well, why don't you tell me who this foe is? I might be slightly less inclined to prevent you from digging up the distinguished former holder of the post of Chief Messenger of the Guild of Paladins, my predecessor, if it was a cause she might have agreed with. |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 08:24 PM | "It is not our business to inform. We are here to perform our task." One of the walking corpses, a man with bits of flesh dangling from him. He cracks a few bones in his neck and raises a rotting arm, pointing toward the pixie. "You are slowing us, but if it is an answer you seek. My lord requires the bodies of powerful warriors. There is an ursurper on his throne, and he has freed the legions of the undead that he commanded. They run rampant over the countryside, killing madly and destroying whatever is in their way. They need to be brought back into the fold. The master's power is great and he seeks to force them under his control once more. Without it, they kill pointlessly and destroy whatever they wish to rip from this world. It is... better for all parties for them to be mere servants." |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 08:46 PM | Depends on who the master is. Who is your lord, and why does he need to control massive amounts of undead? Nedin perches on Waken's headstone. (Because ooc, I'd really rather you didn't. If that's not good enough for you, I suppose I'll have to put up with it. If, that is, you can get through a place that's bristling with paladins and clerics.) |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 08:52 PM | "Sargatanas, Lord of the Damned. Master of all those who are lost and have no home. Lord of all those who seek to live forever. He is my lord. The ursurper is of no concern to you. He will be dead soon enough, it matters not his name. Indeed, we will not speak it. This will be easier if you simply step aside." The creature rests it's shovel head on the ground and rolls it's shoulder, cracking a few things with considerable noise. (Well, not really wantin to do it with you so against it, but if Nedin fights I may have a new corpse to use anyway. Paladins and Clerics are of no concern. So ya know detect evil only works within a 60ft cone, requires concentration, and a standard action to use. I had armies of undead... I've got work to do to catch up to that again.) |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 09:03 PM | Nedin looks at his healthy arms and legs and then back at them, amused. I seem to have managed the "living forever" bit without going all rotten. But what is this of giving homes to the homeless? I suppose giving the poor animated skeletons a place to stay isn't so bad. But I'm loth to allow any digging-up of new people. This girl, I heard, while valient, had a good share of pain in a life that should've lasted longer, and has now found peace in the highest realms of Celestia. Would you want to be taking that from her? I'm still listening to you, which is more than you'd get from most paladins, though more explaining would likely get you farther. I'm not one for unecessary delay in accomplishing business, but on the other hand I'm feeling very inclined to tell you you've come to the wrong place. |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 09:09 PM | "Nothing would be taken from her. We want only the body. The soul will not be recalled and only the corpse will be put to use. Surely the use of a body that will do nothing but rot in the ground elsewise is not too much beyond what she would want. Unless she wishes to keep her body in the ground rotting. Selfish to keep something you don't intend to use." |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 09:30 PM | Nedin sighs. I suppose one or two more won't make a difference if I end up having to fight your horde someday. Very well, you may have the bodies as a token of encouragement towards peaceful ends for your lord Sargatanas. When the two humans are dug up, they are rotting normally. Waken, however, looks the same as she did three weeks ago. A well-muscled woman above, a black-coated winged centaur below, with accents of silver betraying her immortality. Her body is simply a shell without the soul. All her equipment save her "Holy Avenger" was buried with her. |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 09:41 PM | The creatures gather up the bodies. They bow to Nedin and turn, walking away with the bodies they've collected. A spehre shimmers in the air and a man with peices missing steps out of the thin air. Behind him is a skeletal snake-man, it folds it's arms protectively behind him. With a bow, the lord of the damned speaks. "I thank you for your kindness. My people will benefit greatly from soldiers that hold great power. I will not forget this when I have regained my throne and control over the rampaging hordes." Sargatanas and his skeletons turn and walk off, the snake creature following along with them and laughing through it's empty jaw. "I've never seen a paladin give up bodies to the undead." (Much appreciated, what are the other two bodies of by the way?) |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 09:50 PM | (Just human commoners. People who got to the hospital already dead; Nedin can heal any disease or serious injury with a single touch.) Well, all the lawful paladins are gone or dead. So who's to stop me from breaking policy now and then? Nedin turns back to his bowmaking as they leave the Halls. *Detect Evil* on Sargatanas. Then he follows them at a distance, invisibly and at a height. (Oh, and he was using "Detect Evil" earlier after he noticed they were there, to determine alignment. He noticed them in the first place just by having his eyes open, and seeing skeletons wandering through the graveyard.) |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 09:56 PM | Sargatanas' troops march tirelessly through the night carrying the bodies. They move along and meet up with another group of the dead, carrying another body on a stretcher, laid over with coverings and the earth-stained crest of the Stormhand Federation. The group gathers and marches on toward the sea, a massive black ship floats there in the water, where the undead walk through the sea rather than tending to boats and board the ship via ropes. (ship is a greatship, and I got permission for the other corps from the player) |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 10:01 PM | Nedin sits on one of the yardarms, very high up, still invisible, to give his wings a bit of a rest. He watches the activity below him. (Negligible weight on his part.) |
| Dyne05-31-07, 10:08 PM | The gallop of hooves can be heard, and a rider can be spotted heading for the Halls of Refuge. Riding on a strong mount of pure black color seems to be a man fully clad in black plate armor. The steed leaps over the wall fencing in the hospital, and he comes to a stop in the graveyard, looking over at the undead as they leave. "Damn monsters!" he spits under his breath. "I'd charge after them if I could catch them. But lo, they are already at their ship." He sighs, resting his hand on the pommel of his sword. He steers his mount around toward the building, looking for these self-proclaimed defenders of good. |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 10:13 PM | A few nurses and priests come out and ask whether the man seeks the care of the hospital. They gesture that the head of the place left to follow the undead. |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 10:13 PM | The creatures head down into the ship carrying corpses. Sargatanas heads up to the castle at the back of the ship. The rest hoist the anchor and nod up to Sargatanas. He turns the ship away from the shore and begins to sail it off into the ocean. |
| CaptainShar05-31-07, 10:20 PM | Nedin stays on for the ride. (Night now.) |
| Demonfey05-31-07, 10:22 PM | A raptoran flies in, covered in gore and other creature's ichor. He lands, bursts into flames for a second, and burns out some in his eyes before toweling whats left off. That should help cut down on the plague zombie issue in the areas around the Horchound Jungle. What'd I miss? (He travels a lot. Night, Shar.) |
| Dyne05-31-07, 10:25 PM | The rider mutters under his breath, obviously being a bit annoyed. He then dismounts and walks up to the doors of the cathedral. "I require no care. I am looking for allies that could aid in my crusade against evil. But, I suppose I shall wait for your leader to return. However, I do not have all the time in the world to wait around, so if you have a way to call him back I suggest you employ it." He looks around, seeing if there is a stable or other place to leave his horse. ('Night, Shar) |
| Sargatanas05-31-07, 10:49 PM | The skeletal snake-man slithers over to Sargatanas and whispers in his ear. Turning and taking a position beside the mast as another undead takes the wheel. Sargatanas heads downstairs into the lower regions of the ship. Chanting and the clacking of bones follows as Sargatanas works his magic to raise the bodies of the dead. |
| NightScreamer2006-01-07, 03:15 PM | A small twinkle out of the corner of your eye catches you, and from that forms a swirl of brilliant colors that form into a slender female figure within the halls. She stares, then looks around and busies herself with dusting off her robes in the corner. |
| Sargatanas06-01-07, 03:42 PM | From below deck, Sargatanas comes back up with a man walking beside him. He has an arm draped around the man's shoulder, waving his hand as he speaks and cackles a bit. When they reach the deck he nods and looks towards the shore and Tyrannor. "And... thats what you've missed while you've been gone. Your followers and the Knights waving around their members and talking about which one is more powerful. Near war stopped by your heir. My conquering of the royal guard, the Queenship of Ashariana. Plenty of fun times. But, as you know... unity must be attained in this world. I'm giving you the chance to form that unity alongside me. It will be wondrous won't it? You see, Nhyris, the previous ruler of the Guild of Ultimate evil has joined me already. Soon, our already impressive numbers shall grow more numerous. Ah... how great the days will be..." |
| Dyne06-01-07, 07:53 PM | The man nods as Sargatanas relates the recent events that have passed since his death. The world is a different place from what he knew, especially viewed through the eyes of undeath. "I should have never left that boy as heir to the throne," he answers. "He was naïve and weak. He was too young. Ashariana was one of the few with any amount of sense." He seems to become lost in thought for a moment. Finally, he speaks up once more. "Unity, you say? That has been my goal for a very long time. I am honored to be in your service, Lord Sargatanas. Lead where you will go, and I shall follow." Decided it would make things more interesting to roleplay my old (now undead) character. He is still fully under Sargatanas' control, however. |
| NightScreamer2006-02-07, 01:19 AM | Looks on and watches and listens at the activity... |
| Demonfey06-02-07, 01:32 AM | Hello. Who're you, miss? (For the record, Screamer, Sargatanas and Dyne (William) aren't currently at the Halls. They are in a ship off the coast, and are just using this thread as a setup point.) |
| NightScreamer2006-02-07, 01:38 AM | The lady turns and her ears seem to perk. "Oh! Helloooo..." Her voice is as vibrate as her garments. She curtsies courtly. "Name is Rayne... Nice to meet you. I was just wondering what all the hub-bub was about... you know with the creepy corpses and the ship thing out there." |
| Demonfey06-02-07, 01:42 AM | Jus' got back myself, so I don't have any clue. |
| NightScreamer2006-02-07, 02:01 AM | She walks towards the shore and looks at the ship at sea. "They probably don't like visitors... I should restrain myself from being nosey..." She puts the tip of her finger to her nose. She stands there for about a split second and squeals with excitement. "I never was one for patience!" And with that she vanishes from sight, as her feet lift from the ground they find solace on the top of the rear castle of the ship. Teleport Mishap chance 53 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1080789) |
| Sargatanas06-02-07, 02:08 AM | A skeletal humanoid with a snake-like boney tail turns around quickly snifing the air. It looks her over with shining orbs for eyes and hisses through it's closed teeth. Waving a clawed hand another undead creature waves Sargatanas up. When he arrives he raises the remnants of his eyebrow over his non-jewel covered eye. "Who are ye girl, and what are ye doin here? Not often we have guests appearin on the ship like this. So young lady, what can I do for ye?" |
| NightScreamer2006-02-07, 02:20 AM | She gently glides down from the castle and lands like a feather. "Nothing much... just curiosity I suppose. The fact that a Guild consisting of Paladin's gave away corpses to fill a ship of undead... Just. You expect someone NOT to be strangely curious to that? She laughs a bit. |
| Sargatanas06-02-07, 02:29 AM | "I must admit I was a bit curious myself at the ease of it. But, it was done and we are glad for it. The leader of the guild has done us quite a favor, it will allow me to retake my throne. Then, we can begin again the task of uniting the lands. Unity is a... nice goal wouldn't you say? You know, have you ever thought about becoming undead? Great hours, immortality, pretty good benefits I'd say. Don't need to eat, sleep, breath. It really is rather wondrous, what do you say? A good offer I'd say, just look at these satisfied customers." |
| Dyne06-02-07, 02:31 AM | "A good offer I'd say, just look at these satisfied customers." William Aervenia stares off into space. "Yes, satisfied customer," he says, a blank expression on his face |
| NightScreamer2006-02-07, 02:44 AM | She plays with her many veils and cloths. "Nah... not for me really. I don't think my brother would forgive me, and being my twin my soul is tied with his... So upsetting that balance could be dangerous to me health..." |
| Sargatanas06-02-07, 03:03 AM | "Ah, a pity. Did you know that its very hard to find females that want to become undead? It is just amazing at how few want to take the change. Oh well, what else brings ya here other than interest in paladins giving corpses to undead? Was it my wonderful company, or did ya wanna see a once living King who's kingdom was taken over and run into the ground by people too afraid to fight? That would be william over there. The might Stormhand himself! Or did ye wan't ta meet someone else? Ah, I don't know. Anything in mind here?" |
| CaptainShar06-02-07, 09:38 AM | (Is the ship sailing, or is it still anchored near the Halls of Refuge?) |
| Sargatanas06-02-07, 11:21 AM | (sailing) |
| CaptainShar06-02-07, 09:50 PM | (Nedin will stay aboard for three days, if the ship is sailing all that time; if it reaches land sooner, he'll reevaluate his plans. If it sails longer, he'll fly away again.) |
| NightScreamer2006-03-07, 01:00 AM | She wanders aimlessly around as h speaks investigating the undead around the ship, prodding and poking at them as they do their duties. "No. Not really... Just curiosity." She speaks to herself in a slight whisper. "Boy, that stick-in-the-ass would go absolutely ape if he ever saw this..." She continues to wander and entertain herself. |
| Sargatanas06-03-07, 01:07 AM | "Curiosity eh? Ye know, they say that killed the cat, but I say 'never leave a cat dead' or something like that. Actually I've never said that. Would be good one though. Ah well. So what **** stick are we talkin about eh? I've met a number of them in my time and its always so hard to remove said stick from said cavity. Like the damned thing is jammed up there and screwed inta something. But as I was sayin, what stick are we talkin about?" Sargatanas cracks a bone or two and shifts his weight forward, moving over to the woman and putting a rotting arm around her shoulder. "Might know him, might wan't me inanimate, though that ain't stopped me last time." |
| NightScreamer2006-04-07, 12:29 AM | Rayne grins and puts her arm around the dead man. "No you definitely have never met him sir... for THAT I am quite sure of." She chuckles a bit, before moving away and investigating another mobile corpse. "My brother is um... Well... Much like our father." She reaches in her robes and pulls out a golden chain, on the end dangles a bright golden sun with a face on it, a holy symbol of Pelor, and strung with it multiple medallions and ribbons and the such. "He's a crusader of the Shining Light... I guess I too inherited some of the Sun Lord's glow." Putting the necklace away he chuckles and spins her many multi-colored shawls and veils and robes as if a living embodiment of a rainbow. |
| Sargatanas06-04-07, 12:36 AM | "Then maybe ye might be able ta help me with somethin. I recently aquired a... thing that ye might like ta look at. At least, that I'd like ya ta look at. Ya see, I recently aquired a corpse that had somethin strange on it, don't really know what it is..." Sargatans digs through his bag and pulls out a shining orb filled with light. He holds it up and shows it to Rayne. "Happen ta know what this thing here is and where it came from?" (The 'ray orb' from Waken's corpse) |
| NightScreamer2006-04-07, 12:39 AM | Smiling she digs into her robs and pulls out her own, over course it seems to have been made with stained glasses, and is therefore much more brilliantly colorful. "I only have one because I am his twin... However he usually only gives them to other Clerics and Paladins of Pelor. Then again..." She pauses to think. "You just collected multiple corpses from a Paladin outpost... so it is safe to assume that is why that certain Paladin of Pelor would have one." She nods. |
| Sargatanas06-04-07, 12:49 AM | "Yes, I believe it would. So this is your brother's handy work eh? Rather bright, kind of annoying. Oh well, no real big deal and it will keep the shadow monsters at bay. So my dear, what do ya think of this world? Do ye think it needs fixin, perhaps unification? That's my goal, the goal of my people. To unify the world, course it'll end up bein under my rule, only someone truely immortal can keep such an empire in check. Otherwise, the right of succesion ends these mighty empires and brings them crumbling down. Unity can only be attained by the immortal... a place where all can be free and safe from the persecution that this world holds. That'd be my goal miss..?" |
| NightScreamer2006-04-07, 12:58 AM | Stands there for a moment. "Immortal by what means? For you will have a lifespan that will surpass most others, but you are still able to be eliminated if someone did wish to do so. I would watch my step my friend, for he who lurks in the shadows much be wary of who is casting the light." She chuckles and waves the glowing orb at him. |
| turalisj06-04-07, 01:08 AM | Hey Shar, you wouldn't happen to have the layout of the HoR, would you? |
| Sargatanas06-04-07, 01:09 AM | "I lurk in no shadows, I was just standing openly before a guild of paladins. I fear no light... I've been in it for much longer than most of my kind ever could. I've been in banquets with the guilds of good, meetings with clerics and paladins, and I've marched openly against the 'royal guard' of Tyrannor. Yet, at all these times, not once have I had anything to truely fear. But times change, and if this brother that ye got is a paladin of Pelor, I might be havin a bit of trouble in the future. No problem though, hope ye don't get offended when I say this... but I'm not too worried." |
| NightScreamer2006-04-07, 01:24 AM | She shrugs "Never said you should be. Just a cautionary statement, really." She sighs and yawns. "Do you have any rooms here not infested by death? Ya know... So I could maybe not be awake for a while?" |
| Sargatanas06-04-07, 01:33 AM | "My boys don't usually need ta sleep, but we do keep a few guest rooms just in case. So if ye'll follow the ol one eyed corpse with the peg leg, he'll show ye to a room." One of the corpse creatures looks up and groans, cracking most of the bones in it's body when it moves. It must have been sitting there for a whole hell of a long time. It then guides her to her room when she is ready. |
| Sargatanas06-05-07, 03:23 AM | The trip goes on, about a day out into the voyage a number of archers come up on deck and move to the forecastle of the ship. They begin looking down into the waters and around the ship. Sargatanas steps up on deck and heads to the front portion of the opposite castle. He looks around and mumbles a few divine words to himself. Suddenly, with a flash, Nedin appears. To each side of him he finds Nhyris and William, weapons drawn and at the ready, flying in the air. Sargatanas laughs and raises his hand, energy crackling along it. The bone skeletons spin and point their bows all at Nedin in unison. "Ye know... when ye intend ta stow away on a man's ship. Ye should make sure that none aboard have the ability ta sniff ya out when ye land. Ye have about ten seconds to explain yerself before me and my boys make you inta something ye won't be liking." Sargatanas, William, Nhyris, and the bone archers have readied actions to attack should Nedin make any funky moves. If you were wonderin, Nhyris has scent, sniffed ya out back when ya boarded. |
| turalisj06-05-07, 03:18 PM | I would suggest putting the Halls in the Wooded Slopes, but that would put it directly next to the GoUE. Two other good places might either be the sunset, or sunrise mountains. |
| CaptainShar06-05-07, 10:19 PM | Would you begrudge a fellow information? As you said, it's a bit odd for a paladin to give up corpses to one such as yourself. And I did indeed ask for an explanation of your purpose before giving them. Now, I thought I might get that information more fully if you were allowed to act and speak without the known presence of a paladin. Nedin cocks his head and smiles. I'm actually still interested...undeath may not be my goal, but peace and unity sound pretty good to me. Since you've found me, care to carry on the conversation? |
| Sargatanas06-06-07, 01:17 AM | "Ye'll hand over your weapons and bind your wings, then we can talk. I'm sure ya understand the need for such matters since ye already decided ta spy on me on my ship. I should kill ye where ya stand, but... I won't. The quiver first, then the bow... And any other weapons ye might have on ya right now. Then we can converse. Not that ya would go far if ye left the ship, we're a day out at sea and I'm bettin that yer stamina ain't gonna hold up. So, shall we do that then? Ye have my word that nothin is gonna happen ta ya, and really, what else ya got ta trust right now?" |
| turalisj06-06-07, 07:40 PM | A figure strode into the Halls wearing flowing silk robes in a multitude of colors. A long beard reached down from his face, and his pupils were like slits as the looked around. I bring tidings from the grand dracolich emporer of many kingdoms, the terrible wing whose power is comparable to only a god, the great lord *Kothar'Arcanniss'Laraek'Sjach*! I bring an offer from the most powerfull and immortal of wyrms. Submit to his empire willingly, or have your souls devoured. |
| CaptainShar06-06-07, 09:33 PM | I suppose my word is not good enough at this point...probably should have remembered that a little eavesdropping is rated a much higher offense to non-pixies. When everyone can be invisible at will... Nedin shrugs and drops his quiver, bow, and two silvery daggers down the side of the mast onto the deck. You want to tie me up before or after I come down from here? (Do Pixies get fatigued from lack of sleep? If so, Nedin is currently fatigued from flying through the night.) (@ T - I think Demonfey's Paladin and Dyne's new character are currently at the halls...but I'm not, so don't be offended if I don't reply.) |
| Dyne06-06-07, 09:51 PM | The black knight sighs. "These paladins sure get a lot of interesting visitors, don't they?" He draws his greatsword from the baldric on his back. "No one here will be submitting to the arrogant will of some over-sized megalomaniacal lizard. Take your tidings somewhere else. If it is a fight you want, I am prepared to give it." He adopts a battle stance, sword grasped firmly in both hands. Well actually, I wouldn't be prepared to give it since I haven't statted out this guy yet. I haven't even fully decided what class he will be. |
| turalisj06-06-07, 09:59 PM | The human bowed with a sigh. Truly, I am sorry to hear this. May your soul find peace in the battles that will come. ooc: I'm just rying to get some action going here..... And what better way than an outside threat trying to take over Tyranor? |
| Demonfey06-06-07, 10:07 PM | Sargatanas trying to take over the world. Just...keep the dracolich within a feasible CR to beat. |
| Dyne06-06-07, 10:25 PM | Sargatanas trying to take over the world. And Anastrianna trying to take over the world. The more the merrier, I suppose. I didn't say there was anything wrong with there being some dracolich "emperor" being in the mix, just that I don't have my character statted out yet. Although, you already seem to have several characters running around, and it might not be a good idea to overextend yourself (I generally like to focus on just one or two nowadays, easier to handle and each one gets more individual attention to develop into a more interesting character). |
| DungeonJman06-07-07, 02:07 PM | *appears (note: was teleported in by cohort) in the center of the Halls* What the heck is going on here? The graveyard's been dug up and people are fighting in this place meant for healing! |
| turalisj06-07-07, 02:13 PM | There will be no fighting. Not if you submit to my lord's rule. |
| Demonfey06-07-07, 02:15 PM | Well, I dunno what happened with the graves, since I was dealing with some undead around the Horchound jungle when that happened. As for the fightin', the guy in robes serves a dracolich who wants to conquer the land, and the guy in black armor...well, I dunno what his deal is. |
| DungeonJman06-07-07, 02:15 PM | Ok, i'll worry about that later, i have to regather the guild. *turns to the black knight and the guy in the robes* Either of you seen a pixie paladin around here? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 02:39 PM | "Ye can come down here, its just the wings I'd like ta be binding at the moment. Easier to talk with someone when they aint flyin around and tryin to escape and all that. Lets begin while we do that shall we? Yes, my goal is unity. The world is in a state of chaos and constant battles. There is war at the doorstep of every man woman and child. I seek to change that... of course these things require battle since most do not see fit to submit to the rule of a single individual. I offer a place for those who are persecuted for what they are, a home for those who are lost. My orcish friends here were persecuted by their own kind as well as the humans because they were orcs. I offered them eternal life, so that they might see the peace that they wished for, that was the reason they were persecured by their brothers. All of my people have... similar stories. It is a choice I offer to the living. The dead serve where they can in the cause, their bodies put to use after their souls have departed. It is the blessing of eternity... to serve the cause after death. All who wish to help the cause of unity are brought into the fold. Death need not be required, but those who resist die and serve afterwards. Those who accept however, are allowed to keep their rule, keep their beliefs, we do not care as long as those beliefs do not threaten the unity that we seek. Imagine... the world united, their own governments ruling over the lands they always have, but answering to one lord. Peace." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 06:51 PM | Nedin flutters down from the yardarm. Not too tight, OK? It takes forever to get the crinkles out of these things. So you think the only way to have peace is for everyone to be dead? Or undead? Are we talking mindless minions or folk such as yourself? Some of the folks at the Halls offer to explain things to DungeonJ - Nedin let some undead dig up the graves, then went and followed them to the shore. |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 07:05 PM | "Not what I said. Ya see, thats the problem. You folk only hear the part about undeath. It is a choice I offer, not a requirement. Those who join me and fight for a united land can do whatever they wish with life or death. If they join freely then they may rule themselves, living, and in whatever capacity they were before, they must only answer to me. Those who fight, those who resist. Those who try to stop the unificiation that I bring will be the ones who's bodies will be put to use. Mindless, intelligent... it matters not. Those who would serve best intelligent shall be so. There is a high price to pay for fighting against the unity I seek to bring. But... it is something that needs be done. Others are too weak... to soft in their methods... we will be fierce and determined." Nhyris and William follow the pixie down and tie his wings behind his back, making him unable to fly after he lands. Sargatanas nods to the other and motions them back to their business for the time being. Nhyris and William still standing guard. |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 07:18 PM | Questions of undeath aside, is the idea mostly for there to be unity, or mostly for the leader of this unity to be you? *Detect Evil* |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 07:28 PM | (His aura is between strong and overwhelming, damn near painful to the eyes.) "Unity, more than my rule. But my rule is needed for this to work. I am immortal, I live forever. My rule will insure the stability of the empire, the stability and the constantness of the unity that we seek. Without my rule the world will not take well to it's new order. It will break down, fall apart, and not last. I will make it last. Ye can be sure of that." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 07:32 PM | I hate to break it to you, but you aren't the only immortal. Me being one of them, for example. So why you in particular? Nedin flexes his wings before he remembers they're stuck. |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 07:42 PM | "I hate to break it to you, but legends and truth are different things. Your people are not immortal, though you have long life spans. Might have convinced yourselves ye are because most of ye probably die playing practical jokes. But why me? It is my vision, it is my destiny. A man does not fight all his life, leading the people, only to turn it all over to someone else in the end once the world is at peace. As well, I am a patient being... the petty ambitions of life, of quick profit, these things I do not need. I have all the time in the world." (Don't recall fey actually bein immortal, says that 'legends' say that sprites can only be killed by injury or disease, but thats bout it.) |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 07:49 PM | Oh yeah, that time we found great-great-great-great Grandma she had fallen asleep hanging upside down from a sapling.... Nedin smiles at the memory. I'm still curious, though, what are the people going to do once they're all unified? You just going to leave them alone? What are you going to do with your huge army that got them all into shape in the first place? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 07:57 PM | "They will be free to go back to their families. Or in the case of the unintelligent they will be used to keep the peace if it is needed. Those trained to fight are always useful, should an enemy come from elsewhere, they will be needed. These are problems that will happen no matter the way to unity. There are always armies that will always be around. They will be needed to protect our peaceful empire when it is established from outside sources. This world is far from completely explored, there will always be some new threat I imagine. When there is no threat and the world is safe... they will still be needed for whatever else may come. The people may rule their own lands, I care not. As long as they make no war and do not persecute others for what they are. This goal... will be accomplished." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 08:05 PM | Interesting. And how would you be feeling about those who are interested in peace, but not necessarily in following under your banner? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 08:09 PM | "I would ask them how they intend to bring about such peace. Slaughtering the enemy and hoping that another doesn't rise in his place? Destroying one kingdom and brining pain and suffering to it's people so their own may live in peace? It isn't possible. There must be a unified nation to establish true peace, otherwise... there will always be something else to challenge it." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 08:23 PM | How about living peacefully themselves, gaining the friendship of the surrounding peoples, and defending themselves against invaders? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 08:29 PM | "That is not peace. You cannot attain unity and peace by pacifism. You must go out and bring about a unified world, you cannot sit back and hope that it comes to you while your enemies hurl themselves at your borders. It does not work that way, the world does not work that way. The invaders may be driven back time and again, but eventually you will not be able to hold them back any longer. As all things have a balance, the balance of peace is war... and to attain peace, war must be waged." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 08:38 PM | Against whom? Those who show themselves to be aggressors? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 08:50 PM | "Do my missing lips not speak the words I say? THOSE WHO RESIST! Those who fight against the coming tide, the unification we offer, they will be delt with as they deserve. I will NOT let those who want peace and happiness for only themselves to stop me. You might like your naive little world where defending your borders means peace. Where only YOU and YOUR people live happily, but I will not accept that. This world will be united, one way... or another." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 09:00 PM | But if the end goal is to let peaceful places be, why not let them be in the first place? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 09:03 PM | "If these 'peaceful places' will simply pay heed to the laws that will be set out. If they will agree to the decisions made by the new order. Then they will be allowed to simply be left alone. They will rule themselves, with only tribute paid and adherance to the laws of the land. This is all that there will be. They will set their own laws, as long as they do not involve the forbidding of any being, any creatures from entering their land. As long as they do no engage in the destruction of other's homes and ways, they will be left alone. They need only agree to the rule." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 09:15 PM | What kinds of rules? Got anything stricter than the Pallys planned? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 09:25 PM | "My 'rules' are simple, something all can live by I think. None shall persecute those who are different because they are different. You will not kill or treat differently those who are different than you... a position of tolerance. Too long have paladins and the ilk killed undead because they are undead. Too long have many races and peoples been killed and attacked because of what they are, no more. This is my primary rule, others may come, but at the moment this is all that must be followed. This, and the law that no nation shall attack another under the protection of the temple. These nations that join with us are not to fight one another. In all other ways they will be allowed to govern themselves. A fair trade I would say." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 09:31 PM | Temple? This is the first I've heard of your temple. |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 09:38 PM | "You needn't worry about the temple... it has been taken by another. Though it was the previous... name to the organization I suppose. The temple of the damned... a place for all the forsaken and forgotten to come and gather. Of course, the goodly people of the land had taken a... negative view of me, seeing me as a monster. So I took precautions to prevent them from spying and assaulting my fortress. It has nothing to do with our current discussion however." |
| DungeonJman06-07-07, 09:56 PM | *upon hearing the news* What... you gotta be kidding me. Come on Beilt, we have to pay a visit. And if i remember correctly from one of those scrying crystal balls, we may have to be prepared for something big. *teleport (once again reminder, that the cohort is a sorceror, not the main)* |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 09:59 PM | The forsaken and forgotten are all "damned"? I don't think so. And why would your fortress not be part of the conversation? I'm assuming you'd rule from there? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 10:06 PM | "It does not matter at the moment. It has been taken, as I said. The forgotten and forsaken are not 'damned' no. It is a name. But you are too busy wanting to find where the evil comes in that ye don't seem ta care what I'm sayin. So what should we do about that do ya think?" |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 10:16 PM | Shall I summarize? You want to rule the world, in order to enforce nonviolence between all its various peoples. In addition, you want to be able to make further rules, now unspecified, and to collect money from everybody. Yes? That is not particularly evil, but since you register so high... he taps his eyes ...it would be foolish of me to not be suspicious. But I have payed attention, yes? You desire peace and acceptance, a good thing. You desire unlimited power for yourself, a dangerous thing. |
| DungeonJman06-07-07, 10:18 PM | *him and Beilt arrive at the bottom of the ship's inhabitable layers* Well, this is odd, you would think we'd get moved to the top, instead of the bottom. Oh well, better head up. |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 10:19 PM | "These unspecified rules you speak of, I mentioned them I believe yes. But they represent challenges that may come in the future. Challenges that slip beneath the 'rules' I have laid down. Yes, I register well on your detection abilities paladin. I am undead. The negative energy within my body sets off your detection without fail, were I a holy warrior myself I would register all the same to your eyes. Unlimited power, how often that idea comes to be associated with the undead, curious is it not? Perhaps I was wrong and you are the same as the rest of your 'holy cursaders'." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 10:28 PM | With you as the supreme ruler of the world, and the army to back it up, I'd say that was unlimited power, barring the actions of the gods, yes. He ponders for a moment. Really? May I test it on Waken? |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 10:32 PM | "You could had I animated the body. I require more materials at the moment however. If you want, supreme ruler of the world, yes. If that is the part you wish to focus on. It is a distinctly paladin view on the matter, but as the shoe does fit." |
| CaptainShar06-07-07, 10:43 PM | And what's the non-paladin view? That you're going to be everyone's favorite grandma and make them tea and biscuits? My grandma makes very good biscuits, by the way. (Night.) |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 10:49 PM | "I've done all the talking I feel like at the moment. Its time to choose pixie, do you plan to assist me? On yer word, yer honor, yer god? Or are we goin ta have us a problem?" A group of orcs with tightly drawn skin look over at the men as they appear, somehow, on a ship they've never seen. One turns and heads to the upper decks while the others pick up their axes. "Who are you?" |
| DungeonJman06-07-07, 10:54 PM | We've come to get some answers and to ensure the safety of our people. We wish for nothing less, and nothing more. |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 10:59 PM | "Don't know how you got here, but you'll hand over your weapons." Up on deck, an orc comes up and runs over to William, who heads down along with Nhyris by his side. (You ain't got a character posted, so this don't seem like its gonna work too well, ya know, teleporting on my ship that you have no idea what it looks like/where it is and all that.) |
| DungeonJman06-07-07, 11:10 PM | Well, we had a general approximation of what it looked like, how fast it was going, when it left. etc. Despite all the times that i have failed to do so, i'll try to get a char sheet up by next week. But with finals, i can't straight out give a guarantee. Fine then. But be careful with it, i don't want you to get hurt by accidentally saying the command word and i don't want it getting chucked overboard. *hands over his longsword. Beilt hands over a basic quarterstaff* |
| Sargatanas06-07-07, 11:16 PM | The orcs take the objects and then walk behind them up the stairs a bit. Mid way they are met by a man, obviously undead, with grey skin. He carries with him a double sided scimitar, resembling one Waken once wore, in fact, he wears her celestial chain mail as well. Beside him is the skeletal remains of a snake creature, two snake heads look over his shoulders, also skeletal. Nhyris' skeletal mouth, somehow, manages a hiss before he motions the paladin up onto the deck. |
| Dyne06-07-07, 11:38 PM | The man in black armor listened in to the priests explaining the situation to <DungeonJMan's character>, and he scowls. "These paladins let those undead monsters rob the graves? I thought this was a place of healing, of rest for the dead. You people should know better than to let those things defile the bodies of the innocent dead. I am appalled, and there is no way I would align myself with such a place." He mounts his steed and prepares to leave. |
| DungeonJman06-08-07, 11:31 AM | OOC: Already teleported, too late for a conversation. *as he's walking up the deck* What happened, Nhryis? Last time i was here, you were still with Crowley. |
| Sargatanas06-08-07, 01:44 PM | Sargatanas approaches the edge of the rear castle. Looking down on the deck he tilts his head. "Well.. look at that, another one. Seems more and more of you things find yer way on to my ship. Nhyris was betrayed, and killed by the new lord of his previous guild association. I gave him life again, the chance to rule once more and command legions. Now... as I was sayin. Get off my ship, we don't wan't any." |
| DungeonJman06-08-07, 03:04 PM | Just making sure that my guildmembers are still in one piece, at least the still living ones. As soon as that is assured, i will leave. |
| Sargatanas06-08-07, 11:35 PM | Sargatanas waves a hand toward Nedin, who is alive and complete, but has his wings bound behind his back. "Now ye've seen him. Get off my ship, before I get mad." The group of skeletal archers return, moving up to the forward castle again and aiming their bows down on the paladin and his mage. A few others turn toward the two and watch them carefully. |
| CaptainShar06-09-07, 11:24 AM | (Sorry for the delay. My family is updating our home network, etc.) (OK - Nedin's arms are loose. Could he remove the ropes as a standard action? Also, where are his weapons? Are they still lying on the deck? And how many undead currently have their weapons trained on him?) Oh, hello, Paladin Supreme. This guy sounds pretty reasonable, except that he's forcing everyone to swear allegiance to him. That's against Guild policy, if I recall? (Depending on the answers to my above questions, Nedin's going to ready an action, should anyone attack him. But I can't decide what that is without knowing his exact state.) |
| Sargatanas06-09-07, 12:58 PM | ((The wings are bound together behind his back, unless he can see behind his back it'll take some work to get them off. His weapons are not on the deck. At this point, I'm thinkin everyones got a 'readied action' so it'd be initiative, not readied when we get to it.)) |
| Dyne06-09-07, 04:46 PM | (I believe Sargatanas would need to make a Use Rope check to set the DC, and Nedin would make an Escape Artist check to get the ropes off. Since Nedin has his hands free, he would probably get some kind of circumstance bonus. Also, escaping would take at least a full round action, possibly longer [the rules don't specify this exact circumstance; it takes 1 minute to escape from manacles, rope bindings, etc. but that's if you're whole body is bound; it takes a full round action to escape from a net, animate rope, command plants, control plants, or entangle spell]. Also, I believe trying to escape would set off Sargatanas and co.'s readied actions.) |
| CaptainShar06-09-07, 07:38 PM | (Yeah, but I believe William and Nhyris left off watching him to find DungeonJMan. Want to roll a Use Rope, then? Also, what would happen to the bindings if he polymorphed into something else? Where are his weapons? And remember, all of Waken's equipment is Large. I'm pretty sure that William is Medium.) |
| Sargatanas06-09-07, 08:55 PM | (William and Nhyris did, now they're standing next to DungeonJ and his pal. The Archers however have arrows knocked and bows aimed upward ready to release. Sargatanas didn't tie the ropes himself, an undead catfolk did and took his time with it. Good qustion, where are his weapons? Not on the deck. William is medium, but technically waken's upper body was no bigger than any humanoid's. I'll give a look at the stuff thats there to see if anything needs changin. If yer plannin on fightin, you won't get far since Dungeonj still ain't got a character.) |
| DungeonJman06-09-07, 10:06 PM | Not that i planned on it anyway. Well, technically you're right, but as he hasn't done anything involving a group outside of us so far, i can not officially condone the use of violence yet. *to Sargatanas* If you would kindly let me take my subordinate and let me get our weapons back, we'll gladly be on our way. |
| CaptainShar06-09-07, 10:18 PM | Meant against policy for me, not for him, sir. Awfully nice of you to pop up like this, but perhaps getting back to the guild yourself is more important than getting me out of my little escapade? I don't think Sargatanas has much to gain from killin' me til I'm undead, for I'd lose most of my abilities from the evilness; even my weapon wouldn't do much good to one of these folks. Or would that be too much Good? Nedin chuckles. 'sides, I wouldn't be nearly as pretty now, would I? (In other words, I don't believe your nonstatted character will be allowed to interfere.) |
| Sargatanas06-09-07, 10:37 PM | "Your man was trespassing and spying. By all rights I could kill him where he stands. By 'law' you are trespassing on my ship, not very paladiny of you I gotta say. Now, like I said, get the hell off my ship." Sargatanas puts a hand on Nedin's shoulder and his eyes flash brightly. "Or we're gonna have a problem." |
| CaptainShar06-09-07, 10:45 PM | So what are you planning to do? I'm not too keen on becoming undead, and I'm afraid I can't pledge myself to you either. I thought perhaps the novelty of being heard out by a pally and offered friendship, of a sort, might be interesting enough to you...but perhaps that novelty will have to remain speculative only. Depends on you. Nedin looks up at the undead man towering over him, Sargatanas's hand huge in comparison to his own small shoulder. Nedin flexes his shoulder muscles. |
| Sargatanas06-09-07, 10:56 PM | Sargatanas unties Nedin's wings and gives him a bit of a push toward the stairs. He nods to some undead who leave the deck and return with the weapons belonging to the paladins. "Remember, I could have killed you if I wanted. I could have killed all of you... but I give you the chance to see my ways are correct. I am going to let you live... now. Get off my ship, all of you." |
| DungeonJman06-10-07, 12:35 AM | Don't need to tell me twice. Beilt? Don't need to tell me twice either, sir. *teleport out* |
| Sargatanas06-10-07, 01:00 PM | Sargatanas shakes his head, waving the troops away after checking to make sure they're really off the ship. He gives a nod to the rest of the crew and brings the ship around, heading back toward the shore. They angle toward Tyrannor. "Time to pick some things up boys." |
| CaptainShar06-10-07, 02:46 PM | Back at the Halls... Well, that was exciting. Nedin grins to himself, then waves to all the new folks. Howdy! I'm Nedin, Prince of the Forest, and Chief Messenger of the Guild of Paladins. What can I do for you? |
| CaptainShar06-10-07, 09:57 PM | Another ship nears the Guild, this one black and familiar. Shar disembarks, escorting four drow clerics, two dressed in black and two in white. She hands them over to Nedin. Keep an eye on these. They may prove useful here, but they're not exactly here by choice. Anyway, here's these. Shar holds out their holy symbols. Nedin takes the symbols, and escorts the clerics inside. Shar looks around at all the new people. Anyone looking for passage? |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 07:43 PM | A blast of energy struck Nedin in the back before he could enter, sickly green flames wrapping around him. By the time the flames wore down, burns ran through his body and he was bleeding profusly. One down do gooders. Only two to go. A voice said before flying off. Used A Hellfire Spear with the Chausible of Fell Power(g), 4 charges of the Warlock's Sceptar used, mortalbane, and maximized. that deals a total of.... 126 damage. Caster Level is 15, which auto-beats spell resistance. Ranged Touch Attack:27 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?u=Li%26%2339%3Bruak&limit=on) |
| CaptainShar06-11-07, 07:53 PM | (Before I blithely accept Nedin's death, can you tell me how your character got past all the other people who were in the area without being stopped? Also, I'm not sure what they are, because the diagnostic of the Halls was too small for me to read, but I'm pretty sure there are wards on this place.) |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 07:59 PM | Ah, walk unseen. Invisiblilty for 24hours. And eldritch spear gives my attack a 250ft range. Sorry if I didn't post that. |
| Dyne06-11-07, 08:27 PM | Notice that Walk Unseen (invocation from CArc) uses invisibility, not greater invisibility. So, Li'ruak would become visible when he makes that attack. Can someone direct me to where mortalbane is? I've never heard of that before. |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 08:36 PM | Book of Vile Darkness. You may be able to go invisible, but you probably don't make yourself all that silent. Move silently on your part, listens on ours, and I'll get a spot for you soon. Spot: 18 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097186) Listen: 16 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097195) |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 08:41 PM | Move Silent Check: 21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?u=Liruak&limit=on) Hide Check: 23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097207) The dice roller loves me. |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 08:42 PM | Still need a Move silently on your part. And for future reference, please no moving between guilds instantaneously when dealing with something so volatile as assassinating another character. |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 08:49 PM | Ok. And as I recall, there WAS quiet a bit of out-of-arena killing between characters during the last IFWG. |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 08:52 PM | Yeah, but we're moving away from that. Killing happens in an arena-style thread. In this case, probably something with a third party with knowledge of the defenses and wards DMing. |
| CaptainShar06-11-07, 08:53 PM | Listen: 10 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097222) Looks like Nedin is toast. The pixie keels over, more spear than chest. The drow he was escorting quickly take back their holy symbols and start back out the way he came. Too bad. At least with Sargatanas he could've had some fun before dying. |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 09:06 PM | Where'd that come from?!? Korrae looks around, until he spots it. It must be that grassy gnoll! |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 09:06 PM | Atleast you get to keep his items. Unless, of course, Sargantas decides to add him to his horde. |
| Dyne06-11-07, 09:29 PM | Ok. And as I recall, there WAS quiet a bit of out-of-arena killing between characters during the last IFWG. Notice that the last IFWG derailed and crashed during one such conflict. Same with the first incarnation. PvP is a very sensitive thing, and it can wreak all sorts of havoc on a game when not properly handled. I've heard more than one player that was hesitant to get involved with the IFWG again because of the PvP and competitiveness of the game. IMHO, it needs to be handled carefully, and the IFWG needs to strike a delicate balance between "PvP game" and "traditional D&D game". |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 09:30 PM | I thought people simply lost interest. |
| Dyne06-11-07, 09:34 PM | I thought people simply lost interest. That was after the GM's (Jagggar, Sssargoth, and Necrodude) decided to stall the game yet again, then restart it at a lower level. And then stall and stall while people waited for the next incarnation to start (again). After the three GM's disappeared, Demonfey (I believe) took the IFWG back to the way it originally was (instead of rebooting), and continued where the IFWG 2 left off. It's been pretty much a player-run effort lately, since we currently don't have any official GM's. |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 09:36 PM | So people lost interest waiting for the IFWG to restart. Any idea on how much XP I would get? |
| CaptainShar06-11-07, 09:39 PM | 4,500 if I remember correctly from the other duels I fought in. |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 09:40 PM | Ok. That puts me at 120375xp. Is it ok for me to level up? |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 09:42 PM | You shouldn't be able to level up after one fight. Also, take this conversation to meta, please. |
| DungeonJman06-11-07, 11:10 PM | *runs down the Halls* Holy... Can someone tell me what just happened here? OOC: Darn it. I kind of wanted to stop playing, since i'm never able to make the stupid char sheet, among other reasons, but i can't just let the guild fall, which it will do if i don't stay here. |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 11:13 PM | Korraemus is patrolling the area, trying to find the guy who killed Nedin. In the mean time, one of the random people that work here answers. "A blast came out of nowhere and killed Nedin! Korraemus is looking for the killer, but doesn't seem to be getting anywhere." |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 11:31 PM | A cloaked warforged entered the halls. He looked around a bit, before walking up to <insert DungeonJman's Character>. You paladin suppreme? I have message from leader. |
| DungeonJman06-11-07, 11:34 PM | Yes, what is it? We're kind of trying to get over yet another death here. |
| Master_of_Flames06-11-07, 11:37 PM | Master said come to arena in one week or more perish. The warforged said, bowing before leaving. |
| DungeonJman06-11-07, 11:39 PM | *sigh* Well, my entire guild's been totaled, what do i have to lose, but for fighting til the last breath. |
| Demonfey06-11-07, 11:49 PM | I take offense at that. |
| Master_of_Flames06-12-07, 10:12 AM | This time, an elf entered the hallway. Whisps of white hair fell down a bale blue face, with cold eyes looking out from underneath a cloak. Master said master wants dead paladin's things. Do not shoot messenger, only here to deliver message and return with dead paladin's things. Bluff Check: 41 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1098050) Just incase anyone decides to interrogate him. |
| Demonfey06-12-07, 12:29 PM | Tell your master that it can't have the dead's belongings. It just shot him in the back, and didn't have the guts to do anything in sight. It still has to duel the rest of us in an arena. Now bugger off. |
| Master_of_Flames06-12-07, 01:14 PM | Then he will expect the 'Paladin Supreme' to have it with him when he comes to the arena. If, of course, he doesn't run and hide like those sniveling cowards from the Guild of Pure Good. The elf said, bowing before backing out of the Halls. |
| The_Red_Serpent06-13-07, 05:20 AM | A dim reddish snake coils in the rafters Hide Check 30 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1099348) |
| DungeonJman06-13-07, 11:24 AM | For the record, i didn't mean that every paladin had been killed, but the guild is losing members. And i'm getting tired of having to watch member after member die because i couldn't save them. I want to make sure that those who are left will live. |
| Demonfey06-13-07, 11:34 AM | Then He picks up the pixie's corpse, takes the belt (belt of giant strength), puts that on, and flings the pixie's corpse over one shoulder Let's find a cleric 'round here who can raise the dead, and get him back on his feet. |
| DungeonJman06-13-07, 11:39 AM | No need. I just want to know whether he wants to come back to life or not. OOC: Rebalanced Paladin 4 Raise Dead |
| NightScreamer2006-13-07, 12:14 PM | With a fizzle and a pop Ray steps out of the portal and looks towards the Cathedral with a smile. Ah a church of good and law... His shine changes to a more warming, welcoming glow as he approaches the large building. ((Mentioned it on the Meta thread but... he has to actually Roll his damage. And you still need to roll for SR, because you can still fail an SR check on a natural 1... And hiding while attacking is a -20 penalty to your Hide check...)) |
| NightScreamer2006-13-07, 04:06 PM | Ray slows his approach, something doesn't seem right around here. "Hello!? Is anybody here?" |
| CaptainShar06-13-07, 05:10 PM | (I'm willing to rewind. Let's get the checks right. And if MoF still gets away with it, Nedin will certainly come back if folk want to res him. Personally, I'm good either way. Could be another chance to try out a new character. But if you res him, he'll come back.) |
| Dyne06-13-07, 08:16 PM | No need. I just want to know whether he wants to come back to life or not. OOC: Rebalanced Paladin 4 Raise Dead OoC: Paladins can't cast Raise Dead. And I'm not sure why the class would need to be "rebalanced," since I think it's perfectly fine already, but that'd really be up to the new GM's to decide (whoever they end up being). IMHO, I'd be hesitant to accept any "rebalanced" classes, since most of the ones I've seen look like they just want to turn an already decent class into a broken piece of cheese. But, that's just my experience with "Rebalanced ____". If you end up needing someone to cast the spell, my good cleric character will be willing to do it for the minimum cost (5,000 gp material component), but I'll have to stat him up first. Also, since people seem to want to "rewind," we'll have to see what happens first. |
| DungeonJman06-13-07, 08:40 PM | OOC: It's rebalanced, since it is widely accepted that most people wouldn't advance a paladin beyond 10th level, if even that much. I personally don't see anything wrong with it, as my entire guild either uses rebalanced, paladin of freedom, or the CW non spellcasting variant. |
| CaptainShar06-14-07, 05:38 PM | The ugly mark on Nedin's chest starts to clear up. He beats on Korraemus's back. Put me down, you big feather-wing! (Was the entire damage from the spell? Was there any damage that is not overcome by his DR and SR?) |
| Skull_of_Shadow06-14-07, 05:41 PM | Ya didn't die, he failed his caster level check ta overcome SR with a natural 1. |
| Master_of_Flames06-14-07, 06:03 PM | And eldritch blast isn't affected by DR, it is an untyped damage. |
| Demonfey06-14-07, 07:25 PM | He shrugs off the pixie, letting him fall to the ground. Had ta move you somehow. |
| Dyne06-14-07, 08:01 PM | And eldritch blast isn't affected by DR, it is an untyped damage. DR never has any effect on energy damage. Atrelivus Dianoctus hears a blast behind him, then turns to see the pixie falling to the ground as a shadowy figure flees the scene. The black knight spurs his mount back to the Halls of Refuge, ready to draw his sword. "What in the name of Heironeous happened here?" he says as he arrives at the gathering of paladins and priests. |
| Master_of_Flames06-14-07, 09:40 PM | If I had a -20 to my hide checks, then does that mean DF's character spotted me? |
| CaptainShar06-14-07, 10:05 PM | (I know that he failed to overcome my SR. What I wanted to know was whether there was any other kind of damage to be accounted for.) Nedin brushes himself off. I was escorting those priestesses...where are they, by the way?...and got hit with an incredibly evil spell. Must have given me a spell there for a moment. Nedin grins at his own pun. And next thing I know you've got me slung over your shoulder like I'm a naughty toddler. Anyone care to explain what happened? And why you've reappropriated the belt that I fairly won from you? Nedin checks his other belongings, whistling at the fading scar on his chest. |
| Demonfey06-14-07, 10:19 PM | (Yeah, I think it would mean I saw you.) We thought you were dead, and it's easier to lift people when ya got a higher strength. Korrae takes the belt off and hands it back. |
| CaptainShar06-14-07, 10:28 PM | Thanks. I'm sure it was necessary, since I weigh all of twenty pounds...but thanks. Oh, there they are! Nedin flies over to the drow women Shar delivered. Now we both know that none of you have spells prepared today, so why don't you all come along quiet-like? He again removes their holy symbols, and takes them quickly to a secured room. He comes outside again and speaks to Korraemus. Now, I'm sure that attack didn't just materialize out of thin air. Is there any kind of search going on for the attacker? |
| Dyne06-14-07, 10:35 PM | (I know that he failed to overcome my SR. What I wanted to know was whether there was any other kind of damage to be accounted for.) Nope, no other damage. So Nedin didn't even get scratched, really. The man in black armor shakes his head, looking around for the warlock but not spotting him. "So evil rears its ugly head. Nothing but mindless killers the whole lot of them. You are lucky to be alive. Now, would someone please explain to me what I hear about giving away corpses to the undead?" |
| CaptainShar06-14-07, 10:49 PM | (Sorry, bad timing I know, but I've got to go. Night.) |
| NightScreamer2006-15-07, 12:55 AM | Ray wanders to the Cathedral and towards the group standing towards it. "Greetings!" He announces himself quite loudly. "I thought I saw a bit of a squabble, may I ask what had happened?" The cleric is quite easily seen as such, the armor with Pelor's symbol upon his chest, the reliquaries around his neck along with prayer beads and his holy symbol secured to his hilt. |
| Demonfey06-15-07, 12:59 AM | Someone tried to kill one of ours, we're looking for him, excuse me please. (Still not sure I spotted him yet. Was a nat. 20, after all.) |
| NightScreamer2006-15-07, 01:29 AM | Ray looks around, sweeping the area with his eyes. "Hmmm. Attacking a group of Paladins..." Casting Detect Evil, sweeping the area with my cone. |
| The_Red_Serpent06-15-07, 02:38 AM | The snake registers |
| CaptainShar06-15-07, 09:40 PM | People everywhere! How lovely. Ah, yes sir, about those corpses: couldn't see that it was going to do the poor deceased folk themselves any more harm, and it gave me an excellent opportunity to see what that Sargatanas fellow was up to. Not to mention, if there was going to be a fight about it, right in front of the hospital was probably not the best place. People trying to rest and recover, and all that. Nedin smiles at all the newcomers. |
| Dyne06-15-07, 10:32 PM | Atrelivus raises an eyebrow under his black helmet. "So you essentially handed them weapons in order to avoid a conflict in front of the hospital. Did you think about how many more innocents will be harmed by those undead bodies you gave away? Those monsters are a threat to everything good and decent in this world. I assure your hands will soon be full with the sick and the wounded." He looks out at the surrounding forests, then back to Nedin. "What did you learn from the monsters? Aside from their treachery, which that infernal fiend just demonstrated for us." He scowls, looking in the direction Li'ruak escaped. |
| CaptainShar06-15-07, 10:39 PM | Sargatanas plans to first recapture some horde of undead that he said was milling around the countryside destroying things...I thought a horde of undead in the hands of someone semi-sane was better than one that was being totally destructive. Then he wants to bring peace to the world, stop folks from being unkind to each other just because they're different from each other. Sounds good to me. Of course, he wants himself to be the master of it all; we'll probably have to fight him eventually. But perhaps not. Perhaps he can be convinced that peace can be achieved without particular allegiance to him. But I've met much crazier folk than him that wanted to rule the world. So what brings you here? |
| Dyne06-16-07, 12:04 AM | "Peace indeed. What Sargatanas is willing to do to achieve it would destroy the world as we know it." He sighs, then removes his helmet, wiping the sweat from his brow. He has very light blonde hair, which contrasts sharply with his dark attire. His eyes are a deep blue, a piercing gaze. "I am Atrelivus Dianoctus, a cleric of Heironeous. I have spent years fighting the undead and other evils of this world, and Sargatanas' story is not new to me. I have sensed a force of darkness growing in strength; the followers of good will need to be strong to stand against this new wave of evil. I will not be able to fight them alone, I need allies." |
| CaptainShar06-16-07, 12:15 AM | Yes, well, when he starts terrorizing innocent folk, I'll be right there Turning and Smiting and Healing, you can believe me. Perhaps I'll even Nedin lowers his voice, in case there are any other lurkers try to spy on him a bit more, find out what he's up to. But at the moment, I'd like to give him a chance. Perhaps he'll even get in a fight with a non-undead evil person, and they'll weaken each other. But welcome, Sir Dianoctus. If you seek Goodness, with justice and a little spice to boot, you've come to the right place. Will you be staying here for a while? |
| Dyne06-16-07, 03:13 AM | Atrelivus nods. "Evil does have the tendency to betray each other. That is one advantage we still have, the bonds of fellowship." "I have nowhere else to go, really, and would be honored if you would have me. We are stronger as one group, afterall. However, I need a place to put my horse. Do you have a stable?" |
| CaptainShar06-16-07, 03:12 PM | Right this way sir, right this way. Forgive me; most of the paladins don't really need such accommodations. Nedin flies in front of Atrelivus's horse, guiding it to the stables. So what can you bring to the Guild of Paladins and the Halls of Refuge? I'm a sneak, a healer, and a marksman. Not to mention I can do some pretty magicks. |
| Dyne06-16-07, 08:35 PM | Right this way sir, right this way. Forgive me; most of the paladins don't really need such accommodations. "Really? I find that very surprising. One would think that paladins are exactly the type to need such accommodation." He follows Nedin to the stables, holding the reins of his horse. "I suppose my talents are similar to your own, though I focus more on the sword than the bow. My skill is in stealth, magic, and warfare, battling all evils and undead in particular." |
| CaptainShar06-16-07, 10:15 PM | Why keep horses in stables when they can go to a plane of pure good? Well then, perhaps you'd care to accompany me on my next little mission. I want to find out what those undead are up to. Though, I'll have to find some way to mask my scent first; that is how I was discovered last time. |
| NightScreamer2006-18-07, 11:50 PM | Ray stares at the serpent, listening to the conversation as he begins to investigate. And begins speaking. "Gentlemen... Um... I'd hate to interrupt but, there's something Evil afoot." He raises a finger towards the Snake. |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 12:02 AM | Korrae activates his own detect evil, and looks up where Ray's pointing. Don't worry, I got it. He pulls out a large hammer. (Serpent, is this going to become a large fight, or is the snake just going to go splat?) |
| CaptainShar06-19-07, 06:36 PM | Fighting? Nedin pulls out his bow and nocks an arrow, after locating the snake *detect evil*. |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 08:38 PM | An armored figure, estimably some 16 feet tall, stands nearby. The armor is a polished black, and the helmet's visor obscures all facial features. He holds no weapons, and speaks in a low, almost, articificial-sounding metallic voice. "That won't be necessary." The snake drops down, slithering onto his back "My master sends his regards, and a request. Will you hear me out?" |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 08:42 PM | How do ya people come in? (I take it Red is one of yours?) |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 08:46 PM | (Yeah, look at the Blue Lizard if you need proof) "I can't speak for others, but I used the front door. Will you hear me out?" |
| Dyne06-19-07, 08:50 PM | Atrelivus nods to the giant figure. "Go ahead, I will listen." |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 08:52 PM | "My master has requested that I escort someone here for protection." |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 09:12 PM | Korrae raises an eyebrow That snake? |
| Dyne06-19-07, 09:13 PM | "Escort who? And why exactly are they in need of protection?" Atrelivus seems skeptical. |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 09:26 PM | The figure steps aside, revealing a your girl. She has silver hair down to her knees, and wide, fearful purple eyes. She looks nervous, and immediately hides behind the figure again, peeking out from behind his leg. "She is... pursued. By what should be unimportant, it should not be able to find her here." |
| CaptainShar06-19-07, 09:33 PM | Aw, what's your name, young lady? And how can we help you? *casts all of his 'detect' spells to determine her exact alignment, also 'detect thoughts' on her |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 09:33 PM | Korrae puts away his maul. What's her name? An' what's chasing her? (Good to see Kybele's back.:D If NOAH's going to be popping up, you might want to go collect Crowley's soul soon.) |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 09:38 PM | "She is Kybele. She is pursued by... a monster. That is all you must know." (How do I go about finding out how?) And for the detect spells, no alignment registers on her, the armored guy registers as chaotic, good, and evil, and detect thoughts stuns for 1 round |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 09:41 PM | (Simple: you go to where he died. He finally had a cause before he died, he won't let something as trivial as dying keep him from watching over it.) I say we let her stay here. Nedin? |
| CaptainShar06-19-07, 09:47 PM | Huh? Nedin picks himself off the ground. |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 09:51 PM | "Are you alright?" Kybele runs over to Nedin. She reaches out, and a white glow surrounds her hand. Suddenly she draws back, looking more fearful than before "No... I shouldn't..." |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 09:52 PM | I said I don't have any issue with Kybele staying here. Do you? At Kybele's light show What was that? |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 09:54 PM | "That was... dangerous. Is this place warded against magical detection?" |
| CaptainShar06-19-07, 09:55 PM | I don't know what you were thinking, Kybele, but it knocked me over. And I'd like to help you, but perhaps you wouldn't mind telling us a little about yourself? I was trying to skip the asking part, but I can't seem to get a read on you. Nedin hovers at conversation height again. |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:02 PM | "Well... I like it when Mr. C reads to me. He tells me things and protects me. Mr. C keeps me company when my daddy is too busy with something else." |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:02 PM | Mr. C? And Daddy? Who're they? |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:07 PM | "Daddy tells me lots of stories when he has time. Right now he's off on an adventure to find a great big treasure to help protect me! Mr. C is right here" She gestures to an empty space to the left |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:08 PM | Uh...can anyone cast see invisibility? (Just to check, Mr. C is or isn't Crowley?) |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:11 PM | (Sort of...) |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:14 PM | (Okay, let me guess: mental construct/imaginary friend in his form?) |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:15 PM | (Yup. She still has all his memories, but had to come up with a way to explain how she had memories that weren't hers) |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:19 PM | (Then there is only one thing I can do: ) SPOON! A tiny warforged painted blue with two little antennae attached to its head runs through. Why? Because he can. |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:23 PM | She tilts her head "Who's the funny little blue man? Is his name spoon?" |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:30 PM | (I felt like doing a Tick quote. Just seemed random enough for him.) I honestly don't know. The little blue man comes back. It is quickly apparent that it is a construct with blue paint, possibly of the living variety. Hi! My name's Shiny Lantern! |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:31 PM | "I'm Kybele. Nice to meet you." She does a little curtsy "Do you wanna play?" |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:36 PM | Okay! What games do you know? Wup, hang on a second. Pieces of metal spontaneously unfold out of his form, and his form expands to about twice its size as the plates of his body reconfigure to be proportionate, putting him around 3 feet tall. Okay, now we can play. (Just have them run off into the guild?) |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:39 PM | "How about... TAG! YOU'RE IT!"She tags him, and then vanishes into thin air (Sure) |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:41 PM | Yay tag! And he's off, exploring the halls (and using lifesight goggles occasionally). Well, that was odd... |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:47 PM | "Par for the course where I'm from" |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:50 PM | ...then you must live someplace really odd, if little insane warforged transformin' into larger warforged an' then little kids disappearin' into thin air is normal... |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:52 PM | "Trust me, you have no idea. Well, I suppose I'm done here, then?" |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 10:54 PM | Droppin her off was the only thing, right, so apparently. |
| Von Crown06-19-07, 10:55 PM | "Er, wait, was I supposed to stay and help? Mighta been. Better hang around a while, just in case." |
| Demonfey06-19-07, 11:03 PM | If you can explain the evil aura... |
| Von Crown06-20-07, 03:14 AM | "Got that from my father, tends to stick around his kind. If you doubt me, then how's this-" He bends over, disconnecting a section of armor on the back, unfolding a massive pair of white feathered wings "-For proof?" |
| Dyne06-20-07, 03:29 AM | Atrelivus, who has been rather silent throughout this ordeal, finally speaks up. "Let me get this straight. Your father was a fiend, but your mother a celestial?" He doesn't bother to ask about the hyperactive warforged or little girl. |
| Von Crown06-20-07, 04:36 AM | "Precisely. I do believe I have impressed the frequency of strange circumstances where I come from. Though to be more precise, my father wasn't so much a fiend as from a long line of his kind that had taken up residence in the lower planes. Acheron, if you want to be specific." |
| Dyne06-20-07, 07:34 AM | Atrelivus scratches his head. "I see," he says, but he doesn't seem to mean it. "How long do you expect the girl will need to stay here? Also, what of the things that pursue her? Will they not seek her here? Any information you could give us on these foes could only be of aid to us. I do not expect we would make very effective guardians if we are not even aware of what we should be watching for." |
| Von Crown06-20-07, 09:50 AM | "Hopefully, it won't seek her here. That's the majority of the plan. It's primarily the energies of this place. It won't like like them." |
| Demonfey06-20-07, 11:44 AM | Well, feel free to stick around, then. |
| CaptainShar06-20-07, 10:02 PM | You might mean, for now. I was going to ask about that registering both evil and good. You are welcome for now. And do you know why the girl is so strongly warded? I can't figure out a thing about her. |
| Demonfey06-20-07, 10:06 PM | Probably 'cause of the beastie they mentioned before. |
| CaptainShar06-20-07, 10:08 PM | True, true. Well, the kids are having fun playing hide and seek. A game that I am especially good at. Mind if I join them? I'll be back soon to discuss business again, never fear. Nedin blinks out of sight. |
| Demonfey06-20-07, 10:19 PM | Probably good if one of us watches 'em anyway. A bug that seems...somewhat unnatural buzzes down and lands on Mordred's guy. If said person is knowledgeable of Mordred's creations, he recognizes it. If Kybele were here, she would definitely recognize it-she used to play with them a lot. In the person's mind, words form. I need to contact Mordred. Can you tell me how? The bug also radiates evil. What's that? Korrae draws his hammer again, getting ready to swat the bug. |
| Von Crown06-21-07, 03:45 AM | The massive being raises a gauntleted hand. "A messenger, that is all. It seems I have other business to attend to. Good day" Once out of the front door "Yes, I can help you find the master. Don't you recognize me, Crowley? It's me, Wrath." |
| Demonfey06-21-07, 11:26 AM | Sorry, these eyes are not exactly easy to get used to, Wrath. Wow, I didn't know you had wings. |
| Von Crown06-21-07, 12:10 PM | "Greed says hi. Anyways, Mordred is on a ship at sea right no, but if you can wait, there'll be that party coming up, you should be able to get in touch. Coincidentally, if you need to see him about being revived, I can do that." |
| Demonfey06-21-07, 04:22 PM | Would you please? I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of remains, however, so it might be best to do it just from the soul. Which happens to be mostly on King's Pyre. |
| Von Crown06-21-07, 09:15 PM | "Will normal resurrection work? It's all I can do. I'd at least need the tiniest bit, like a hair or something. Otherwise, Mordred can do more, but he won't be available until he gets back from his current escapade." |
| Demonfey06-21-07, 09:23 PM | Became ash in an open area, I'm afraid, so there might not be much luck that way. Sorry 'bout that. Also, I'd return to the mortal 'Dalion' form and personae, too weak to help much against NOAH. On the plus side, I'm probably a ghost right now, so you just have to collect my soul to have someone watch over Kybele in the mean time. |
| Von Crown06-21-07, 09:57 PM | "You'll have to wait for Mordred, then. I only have limited innate abilities." |
| Demonfey06-21-07, 10:04 PM | Oh. Well, bugger. I'll keep a couple insects around, then, but this contact's about to give. |
| Von Crown06-21-07, 10:34 PM | "If what was necessary was brought to Kybele, she could... It might draw NOAH's attention, however." |
| Demonfey06-21-07, 11:11 PM | Best not to. I'll wait for Mordred. And help keep an eye out for NOAH. |
| Von Crown06-22-07, 12:35 AM | "Very well. I'll see to it that the message is relayed as soon as possible." |
| CaptainShar06-27-07, 04:39 PM | Nedin reappears in the courtyard, a bit out of breath, and smiling. I sent the children to supper, and I was thinking we might do the same? So many new folks, it'd be nice to have a meal with this goodly company, catch up, make plans. Ray, how's King's Pyre coming? You came from there last, right? And Atrelivus, perhaps we can plan that excursion I mentioned earlier. Nedin flies along to the dining hall. |
| Demonfey06-27-07, 09:53 PM | Huh, I dinna ken that metal men needed food... Shiny is eating the table, looking thoughtful. Hm...Needs more salt. |
| turalisj07-08-07, 02:56 AM | A dozen or so humans in shredded clothing run towards the Halls. They are pulling carts of the injured. One of them, possibly their leader, knocks on the door of the Halls. Please help! Please! Oh gods.... |
| CaptainShar07-08-07, 10:35 AM | *Detect Evil* Nedin bursts out of the dining room. All right, who's the most seriously injured, and what's going on? (They have internet at this campground. *shrugs*) |
| turalisj07-08-07, 03:21 PM | (none of the refugees register as evil) Our warriors stayed behind with the younger men. The creatures attacked in the middle of the night when our guards were lax. I am Sai'jav, former priest in training of the monastery. I don't know how to describe the creatures.... They seemed to be both ogre and dragon like. They had horns like a demon and black scales. Yet, despite their size, they were able to slip in, disable our traps, and kill the guards. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder07-11-07, 11:58 AM | (Orcy would imagine that the guildmaster here would be playing these folks, but in the interest of moving things along he'll do so.) One of the priests approaches, directing others to go about and begin tending to the wounded, bringing those that can be moved inside and tending those that cannot where they lie. The head priest turns back toward Sai'jav and bows his head. "Sir, if you are well enough, while my priests tend to your wounded, please come in and tell me all of what has happened. I would like to know what we are dealing with so as to know how to better tend to the wounds of those you have brought here." |
| Von Crown07-11-07, 02:03 PM | Kybele walks slowly towards one of the wounded "Hi..." |
| Demonfey07-11-07, 10:49 PM | Korraemus has been watching and listening, eyes slowly turning white hot. Which direction. I have a feelin' I should introduce 'em to a tall, thin guy with a scythe, TALKS LIKE THIS... |
| turalisj07-11-07, 11:04 PM | They are too numerous and powerful for one person to handle. They are living, but they are not. They were within our defenses before we could prepare to fight back. Sai'jav closed his eyes, fatigue evident in his face. I was the apprentice to the head monk there. I can only pray that the explosives we set went into effect before the invaders could reach the armory, but I doubt that. The refugee rocked back and forth infront of Kybele. He was murming to himself. They killed them...they killed them..dear lords above they killed them.... Unless I'm wrong (which is more then likely), there is something called post traumatic shock syndrome. Most of the refugees would have it. |
| Demonfey07-11-07, 11:12 PM | Ah, but I can buy yer pals some time. I ain't a normal raptoran. |
| Von Crown07-11-07, 11:18 PM | Kybele reaches out to touch the refugee, a white light surrounding her hand. She touches him, then raises her heand to his head, and as his wounds begin to close, he drifts off to sleep "I- I don't know how much I can help, but..." |
| turalisj07-11-07, 11:57 PM | And these creatures aren't normal. The monastery leader was powerful himself. But he is still dead. You can go, if you want to go to your own death. Sai'jav said sadly. ooc: I made this little encounter to were it would be a challenge for four people. The BBEG himself is around CR 18. |
| Demonfey07-12-07, 12:07 AM | Well, someone has ta help 'em. Ya got a better idea than to send the Paladin Berserker, if everyone else's gonna help your clan? |
| turalisj07-12-07, 12:12 AM | Then go if you must. I wont stop you. |
| CaptainShar07-13-07, 01:45 PM | Tomorrow, Korraemus. We need to spend our strength today helping those here; tomorrow we can drive out the assailants. He goes among the people, spending his considerable healing power on the most badly injured. |
| Demonfey07-13-07, 03:11 PM | Rgh...fine. My healing skills are lacking, however. |
| turalisj07-21-07, 09:23 PM | Sail'Jav nodded. That would be for the best. When the others are healed, we will go with you. We must reclaim our monastery at all costs. ooc: I'm just going to move the entire thing to the Legends section. I'll post the info up in there and we can finish it there. |
| Demonfey08-09-07, 09:58 PM | ...This ever actually going to begin? Yeah, I'm getting stiff just standing here. Why'm I here again? |
| turalisj08-11-07, 07:43 PM | Give another two ingame days for the refugees to recover, then we can begin.... Orcy seems to have something started up and I don't want to step on any giant green orc shoes. |
| Callista08-23-07, 11:13 PM | There's a soft *pop* and a shimmer of blue as a small creature materializes. The magical haze seems to withdraw into a sapphire ring on the finger of a tiny, brown-haired halfling woman wearing a chain shirt. She's wielding a rapier, and her stance is that of someone expecting battle. As she looks around, scanning the occupants of the room, she relaxes and sheathes her rapier. "Well, this is a refreshing change," she mutters to herself. "More often than not, I get dropped straight into the middle of a battle." The halfling addresses those around her. "My name is Kady Small. I am a paladin of Bahamut. Would you be so kind as to tell me where I am, and what trouble has called me here?" |
| CaptainShar08-23-07, 11:17 PM | Welcome, m'lady. This is the Halls of Refuge, home of the Guild of Paladins. You are most definitely in the right place. Trouble...I sense there may be trouble in the future, but I do not yet know of it. But you are welcome to stay here in the meantime. A pixie man, dressed in cheerful green, offers you his arm to enter the Guild. *Detect Evil* (just in case) |
| Callista08-23-07, 11:24 PM | ((No Evil.)) "Hmm. Well, surely I can be of some use while I'm here. There's always a reason... But if there's nothing to do quite yet, I could use a good meal, if you have a mess hall somewhere. Trail rations get awfully boring; and you really, really don't want to eat the food in the Abyss. And some rest... Rest would be good... I've got my own bedroll, so all I need's a space to spread it, if you have that..." Kady takes the pixie's arm and follows. She walks with a limp, trying to keep weight off her right leg. "When did I last sleep, anyhow?" she wonders. "Hmm. Sleep would be good..." |
| CaptainShar08-24-07, 09:49 AM | Here, let me look at that. Oh, there we go. Nedin heals her leg. I'm Nedin, Prince of the Forest and Chief Messenger of the Guild of Paladins. And...here's a room for you. I'll have food brought up shortly. He leaves her to sleep if she wishes. |
| Callista08-24-07, 10:04 PM | Kady tries to stop Nedin. "No, don't try that, it won't--" Then she stops short, looks surprised, gingerly touches her leg, then puts her full weight on it. "Ah... Consecrated area. Of course. That's much better--Thank you, Nedin." Kady disappears into the room. After a few hours, she reappears, looking much less tired. She looks around. "Hello? Anyone here?" |
| CaptainShar08-25-07, 05:26 PM | I was thinking we might have a nice spot of supper. My colleagues have wandered off again, as they are in the habit of doing, but it seems I'm not going to have to dine alone after all! Nedin directs her to a large dining hall and pulls out a chair for her at a table obviously designed for small folk; perhaps even slightly-built small folk. Now, eat as much as you like, and when you're through I want to hear any of your stories that you'd care to share. |
| Demonfey08-26-07, 04:59 PM | Well, wha' do ye expect? We're verra busy with all tha' undead poppin up lately. Korraemus walks into the area, lighting a torch with heat vision as he passes. |
| CaptainShar08-26-07, 09:53 PM | Excuse me, Kady. He flies over to Korraemus. Well, we can't really do anything about that monastery without the monks' help! We don't even know where it is! And where have you been!? |
| Demonfey08-26-07, 10:05 PM | As I said, more a'tha undead are poppin' up. I've been cleanin' up. He sees the new possible member. My apologies, miss. Korraemus, Paladin Berserker. |
| CaptainShar08-26-07, 10:37 PM | Where? Why didn't you take me with you? My flaming holy arrows and considerable turning and healing powers are quite effective against them. |
| Demonfey08-26-07, 11:39 PM | Everywhere, tha's where. Things ye dinnae wish tae ken keep trickling out o' tha bloody damned jungle, an' gettin into the countryside. An' I thought you were dealin with other complaints o the walkin' dead. OOC: To quote others, accents are hard. |
| CaptainShar08-27-07, 09:53 AM | Nedin turns to Kady, Well, there you have it. I knew trouble would turn up sometime! If you feel rested enough, I'd be delighted for you to join us. Korraemus and I are going to go hunt some skellies. Back to Korraemus: So, I can leave any time. Now, in fact. Shall we be off? (Note: you need to stat Kady before you can participate in any encounters.) |
| Callista08-27-07, 02:39 PM | (All right. At the moment she's a level 14 character. Is that OK? I need to put her up on the Web still, though.) Kady swallows a last bit of bread, privately feeling rather grateful that she's managed to get both rest and food before the inevitable return of trouble. "Sure. I don't know much about this monastery, though..." |
| Demonfey08-27-07, 02:48 PM | (Add a level, and you're good to go.) Neither do we, an' the monks all seem tae be rather unwilling tae have us go an' deal wit' it a' tha' moment. |
| CaptainShar08-27-07, 03:18 PM | We were referring to Korraemus's jungle baddies, not the mysterious monastery. So then. I can fly, he can fly; do you need a mount or some such? We're going to be going pretty fast... |
| CaptainShar08-30-07, 12:24 PM | (Note: please join in the Horechound thread in the Legends subforum - see the top of Guild House page for a link - as I have started posting for the group of paladins there.) |
| Lady Rolindin09-11-07, 10:47 PM | A black armored paladin with a necklace of a larger crestent moon and asmaller cresent moon on the top of the larger cresent moon appears out of now where. He carring a black shield with the same symbol, (now if the gm's wish Eala the cleric of celestial can show up too. I do understand that the gm's will play Eala so please do so. her npc character sheet will be in the character thread. 12 levels cleric of Celestial, 3 levels psonist.) She is dressed in black also such as the clerics and paladins of Celestial do. Kord will go to the door and then knock and be polite and wait for some one to answer. |
| CaptainShar09-12-07, 12:03 AM | The priests come towards the gate. "Do you require assistance, or come to give it, sir and madam?" To give it, the woman says. |
| Lady Rolindin09-12-07, 02:10 AM | Kord then says to the women who opened the door, " I have come to help, I am called Kord a paladin Of Celestail. This is Eala cleric of Celestial." He would then give her a half bow in repect. The gm's will have to answer for Eala since the gms will have to play her. And paladins and cleric of Celestail set up hostials on differnet worlds for travels, since their is one allready(this guild) here they would come here to set up a presents for their god and help. |
| CaptainShar09-12-07, 11:12 AM | (I am playing Eala, she just spoke in light brown. It was a group of priests who came to the gate (some men, some women).) The priests open the gate and direct Kord and Eala to chambers. Thank you, says Eala. |
| Lady Rolindin09-12-07, 09:55 PM | Kord goes in then and asks about the halls and what they do. I do hope that the priests of the hall don't hold the believe that mostly evil wears black, since it is the color of Celectial followers. Even a wizard of Celestial would dress in all black. If the cleric have heard of Celestial, or talk of of the god then they would not be supprised by the all black dress. |
| CaptainShar09-13-07, 12:23 AM | "We take in the sick and the wounded and tend them here. We also give sanctuary first and ask questions later. If you do these things you will be quite at home in the Halls of Refuge." (Black is no problem. If you remember, my first character on the boards here was a black-flanked paladin centaur.) |
| Lady Rolindin09-13-07, 01:33 AM | "Then our mission would be quite the same, to aid travelers and others who need healing, food. To give them aid as needed, help back to their world or plane." Kord tells the priest. Eala answer will have to be from the gm's. |
| CaptainShar09-13-07, 10:03 AM | "Very well then. I shall be in the sickrooms if you need me further." The priest departs to go about his business. (Eala has already gone into her chamber.) |
| Lady Rolindin09-14-07, 04:09 AM | "sick rooms, if you woulden't mind I would like to see the rooms and any information you would share with me, " he tells the priest and would follow them. |
| gabrion09-19-07, 09:31 PM | Those occupying the watch posts of the Halls of Refuge see a warrior mounted on a white stallion with a royal blue cloak blowing in the wind behind him approaching up the road. The man slows his approach and as he comes nearer his features become more clear to those watching. His hair, wavy midnight locks, hangs to his shoulders, framing a stern face with eyes to match his riding cloak and a grin that seems both mischievous and yet somehow full of goodwill. "My name is Landas," he announces, "and if St. Cuthbert has guided my path these past months, I hope to have arrived at the Halls of Refuge. My grandfather once lived here, and if possible I would like to see his grave." |
| CaptainShar09-20-07, 10:51 AM | The priests come to the gate. "These are the Halls of Refuge. Our graveyard is small, for we save many. But you are welcome to look here. The paladins are fighting undead at Horechound. We will offer what we can in their absence." |
| gabrion09-20-07, 11:06 AM | Landas nods in response, Thank you, I'll check the graveyard and pay my respects. I hope you'll forgive me, but I must take care of that business before stop my journey and have normal conversation. I haven't seen Aramel since I was a very young boy and he left for these lands - finally kneeling at his grave will do my heart good. With that he turns his horse toward the part of the grounds with the small graveyard and approaches it to pay his respects. OOC:Any of the guards/HoR staff/PCs who were at the original HoR recognize the name of Landas' grandfather - Aramel was one of the original founders of the HoR. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-20-07, 03:55 PM | A figure in concealing white robes steps quietly forward beside the man. Head wrapped and concealed by another white cloth, the figure's skin is not visible to the eye. Looking up toward the man on the horse while resting a long metallic shaft on it's shoulder, the cloaked figure nods to him as he leaves. Approaching the gates the figure pauses and looks out through dark lenses at the priest beyond it. From beneath the desertlander coverings a voice, scratchy and soft comes with a stern and determined tone. "This is the halls of refuge? I have heard of this place... where the goodly people of the land gather... is this correct?" |
| CaptainShar09-20-07, 04:47 PM | "Indeed. Here we provide rest and healing for all. You have travelled far?" |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-20-07, 04:55 PM | The figure's head bobs in a nod, shifting the hollow metallic object again over the shoulder. "From Carnak. I am Ra'Nal'ek of the Barrar-Ekel-Norrak. Disturbing reports say that... the lands to the north are filled with strife. The Barrar-Ekel-Norrak are lawbringers... we are the law in Carnak. I seek... to bring the law to this... Tyrannor, perhaps it will assist with recent problems? I seek a... place to stay for the time being." |
| CaptainShar09-20-07, 04:59 PM | "We are more concerned with Good than with Law, but most of all we give sanctuary. Please accept it from us." They open the gates for him as well and show him to a room. "We shall be tending the sick downstairs if you require anything." |
| Lady Rolindin09-20-07, 05:15 PM | Kord would be interested in the sick rooms, and the need for them. he would accure about the causes also, what has caused the people to be come sick also. |
| CaptainShar09-20-07, 05:23 PM | @ Rolindin: It's the normal semi-vague medieval stuff: fevers, chills, flus, plagues, 'consumption,' a few injuries. There's a bunch of wounded folk from a monastery. The priests cast healing spells and Remove Disease spells on them, let them recuperate for a few days, and then send them home. "The paladins come and go; they are fighting undead in the jungle today. They may be a while." |
| Lady Rolindin09-20-07, 05:54 PM | As Kord would have some interest as to the causes of the dieses. As for the paladins, if they follow the traveling god he would understand them better. but he does understand that evil gods and their worshipers would have to be stopped if they are the cause of such sickness and dieses. He has to wait anyway, the priest could explain the happenings to him. |
| CaptainShar09-20-07, 05:56 PM | @Rolindin The diseases are just naturally caused. There isn't any big curse or plague going on right now that's affecting the Halls. And the paladins are the PCs: Nedin, Korraemus, and Kady. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-20-07, 06:21 PM | "Yes, I have seen the jungle and the evils that lurk within it. My people keep them from the city fo Carnak, hold them at bay. They have taken the mountains but they cannot set foot upon the sands without falling. Good and Law often walk side by side, the laws bring good and keep evil and crime at bay. You may not be followers of law in a strict sense... but I assure you, it is a good thing. What can you tell me... of these lands, what happens here?" |
| gabrion09-20-07, 07:58 PM | Landas returns from visiting the graveyard and overhears the newcomer's question. He is likewise interested in news of the land, so before asking for a place to stay he waits to hear what responses the desert man will get. |
| Lady Rolindin09-21-07, 04:08 AM | that would be some of the questions that Kord has, what has gone on before and what is going on at this time. He would understand about the dieses's being natural, and would offer help if they need it. He will go ask one of the priest these questions and offer help. I know I can't have two characters in the same place's the jungle, so he can wait till the crew of the ship gets back to the guild. after talking to the priest and offering his help, and do what he can to help. |
| CaptainShar09-21-07, 12:47 PM | "I know that the paladins Nedin and Korraemus, who have been watching over these halls of late, left two days ago to investigate reports of a horde of undead in the jungle. A visiting paladin, Kady Small the Dragonslayer, left the next day to find and help them. I'm assuming they found something, since they haven't been back yet. News trickles here slowly sometimes, but it seems that the Guild of Ultimate Evil has become dormant. Nedin seems to be convinced that an undead sailor called Sargatanas is a better alternative rallying point for the evil folks because the corpse has notions of peace. There was a bit of a to-do here earlier about giving up the body of one of our fallen paladins; nobody liked it, but I personally agree with Nedin that it wasn't worth risking a bloody fight with all our patients to think of, and there was a real risk of losing since Nedin was the only fighter in the area at the time. The merchants and the seafarers, I've heard, are thriving of late. Such neutral, service-providing guilds always do. But no one is close to winning the throne of Tyrannor." |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-21-07, 01:34 PM | "They will not get far in the jungle before they are forced to return. It is a cursed place and a sickening blight infects it. Unless they are protected from this vile magic they will become weakened and sick after no more than a days travel in the jungle. We can only hope that they are strong enough to resist the Jungle and it's curse. Elsewise... your paladins may be lost. An undead sailor... wait. Sargatanas lives? I had thought that vile excuse for a being had been destroyed. I shall have to remedy that later. For now I could use some rest perhaps... at least a place to sit. I have come far to see what goodly people walk these lands and my legs are tired." |
| gabrion09-21-07, 01:42 PM | Landas listens intently as the priest explains some of the general news of the land. He doesn't completely understand some of it (such as the talk of a guild of evil...who would create such a thing?). He's also slightly confused by the mention of "winning the throne." What is clear to him is that this land has it's share of troubles. Thank you good Sir for sharing what you know with me. I had planned to leave after visiting my grandfather's resting place, but perhaps this land could use another sword to help face it's dangers. If these Halls could hold me at least until I find a more appropriate place to stay, I would be most grateful. |
| CaptainShar09-21-07, 01:56 PM | "Many stay in our rooms upstairs. You are welcome to do the same. Come to the Dining Hall at mealtimes, or visit the kitchens if you are hungry now. If you have skill in healing, you are welcome to come to the sickrooms as well. But how do you come to have such specific knowledge of the jungle threat? Can you warn our men and women?" |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-21-07, 02:04 PM | The figure shifts slightly, leaning to one side and swining the mteallic shaft from it's back. Leaning on it for support. "As I said... I am from Carnak, the city in the desert. It is my people that have kept the undead from our sands. Striking them down each time one steps onto the sands. We learned a bit of the jungle and it's dangers." |
| Lady Rolindin09-21-07, 05:30 PM | Kord then would ask if his help is needed with any of the sick, if so then he would offer to help heal some of the people in the sick rooms. That his name is Kord a Paladin Of Celestial the traveling god, that he is here to help travelers from other planets and planes. Even the travelers on this planet, with what he can. The other paladins Nedin or Korreamus, and Kady, since he has no knwoledege of the happenings in the jungle, he would appeaacte any information the priest could give him. This fallen saloir Sargatanas he has not heard of, the guild of evil has been talked about before in the other planes along with others happenings in other places. This Thorne of Tryanor he has not heard of. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-22-07, 08:42 PM | "Rightful rule of the throne of Tyrannor is disputed by the guilds within her walls. The lord that ruled over the land died years ago and none have yet taken up the throne because none will allow the others to do so. Each seeks the throne for it's own purposes, as well as for the power that the citadel holds within." |
| gabrion09-23-07, 12:19 AM | "Rightful rule of the throne of Tyrannor is disputed by the guilds within her walls. The lord that ruled over the land died years ago and none have yet taken up the throne because none will allow the others to do so. Each seeks the throne for it's own purposes, as well as for the power that the citadel holds within." Interesting. So the throne was vacated and now the lords of the land vie for power? This must create great uncertainty in the land. I can't be certain what I should do until I pray to St. Cuthbert for guidance, but something tells me he will wish for me to stay and see what comes of these lands. Perhaps I will even have a role to play. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-23-07, 01:28 PM | Ra'Nal'ek, shifts slightly toward the other man who had introduced himself as Landas. Shifting the metallic shaft from over the shoulder and resting it's butt on the ground. A gloved hand idly strokes a piece of red cloth wrapped tightly around the top, hollow on the inside and marked with black scorches and scratches. "The land seems full of chaos. Something it is my intent to change. My people have long been servants of law and order. Perhaps this guild will not be willing to help with law... but I will be submitting a proposition to the guild councils. A proposal for a revision of the laws in tyrannor to prevent some of the more questionable things I have heard occur in my travels." |
| gabrion09-23-07, 03:07 PM | I must agree with you...Ra'Nal'ek, Landas struggle to say the other man's name, not knowing where to place the emphasis, but also trying not to give offense. I serve the lawbringer, St. Cuthbert, and it seems this land could sorely use some of his teachings. While I respect the work these Halls do, he points up toward the Halls of Refuge, and I know why my grandfather worked here, I'm afraid they underestimate the danger of chaos overrunning the land. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-23-07, 03:51 PM | Ra'Nal'ek nods toward Landas, the goggles and mask concealing any features but the stance and manner seems to denote at least a somewhat pleased feeling. "I had not thought I would find one who follows the law and believes in it's merits outside of my home. I am pleased to see that those who do, exist out here in this... troubled land. At least we may rest ourselves here for the time being, it's mission and goals are admirable. Though there are greater troubles than disease and illness, their work is appreciated." |
| CaptainShar09-23-07, 03:54 PM | "I should think so." One of the passing patients interjects. |
| gabrion09-23-07, 09:25 PM | "I should think so." One of the passing patients interjects. OOC: lol |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-24-07, 01:55 AM | Ra'Nal'ek bows to those nearby and turns toward the stairs. Looking backwards and speaking in that soft somewhat scratchy voice. "I think I will retire to the room that has been provided me. If you wish to speak further, you may come join me there after we've both gotten some rest." |
| Lady Rolindin09-24-07, 04:57 AM | Kord will the priest, and then after go to a room offered to him. Kord would ask the priest's about this thrown of Tryannor. |
| gabrion09-26-07, 01:59 PM | After staying for a few days at the Halls of Refuge, all the while speaking with the priests to glean information about current affairs, Landas decides to move on. He stops the senior priest on his way out to inform him of his departure. Thank you for your warm hospitality here. I have learned that the center of activity in this land is a place called Tyrannor Proper, so I plan to travel there and see what more I can learn. It did my heart good to visit this place though and see where my grandfather rests. With that he mounts his snow white warhorse and rides of following the road toward Tyrannor Proper. |
| CaptainShar09-26-07, 02:24 PM | "Farewell." And to Kord, "Perhaps you should go to the city too, if you wish to learn more of the throne of Tyrannor. I know no more than what our desert friend has said already." |
| gabrion09-26-07, 02:39 PM | "Perhaps you should go to the city too, if you wish to learn more of the throne of Tyrannor. I know no more than what our desert friend has said already." Landas pauses upon hearing this and then turns to the man the priest addressed as Kord. If you do wish to go to the city, I could wait for you to gather your things and we could depart together. I know not how dangerous these lands are, but two travelers always fair better than one. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-26-07, 04:18 PM | Ra'Nal'ek likewise prepares to leave after a few days of rest. Heading down to the entrance and pausing at the door looking toward Landas as he speaks. Ra'Nal'ek nods in agreement with Landas, placing hand to chest and bowing slightly to the man on horseback. "If that is how you feel then I offer to travel alongside you. My feet are swift and I have no doubt I can keep up with your horse." |
| gabrion09-26-07, 04:51 PM | [/COLOR] "If that is how you feel then I offer to travel alongside you. My feet are swift and I have no doubt I can keep up with your horse." Very well good sir, your company would be well received on this short trip. Speed will be of no concern, I do not plan to travel too fast as I would like to see some of the country between here and Tyrannor Proper. I wish to know how widespread the ailments of this land truly are. OOC: I'll wait a bit to see if Kord responds about going. If not we can set off pretty much immediately (game time wise). |
| Lady Rolindin09-26-07, 09:04 PM | Kord says to Landis, " I can travel with you then and learn about this thrown of Tryannor from others who would know more. I do travel by other means though, most of the time. I can keep up with the both of you." Landsi would notice that Kord is dressed in full black plate armor, carrying a shield. On the sheild is a double waning moons, one smaller at the top, on a black circle. The waning moons being made of different gems, with suns with in the circle. each waning moon is made by the gems. He is carring a warhammer also. Kord has the same symbol on a necklace aroud his neck. Kord would have (since it has been days) gone to one of the postive planes and came back, having asked the celestials questions about the thrown of Tryannor. |
| gabrion09-26-07, 11:43 PM | Seeing that the others are ready to travel, Landas gathers the last of his things and they all begin down the road. Along the way he tries to learn more about each of his companions without pressing too much into personal matters. To Kord he inquires, Sir, if asking would not be an offense, what does the symbol on your shield and your necklace represent. Is it a holy sign of some sort, or perhaps a code of arms? To Ra'Nal'ek he poses a different sort of question. You said before that you came from a land where you served to enforce the law if I remember correctly. Could you tell me more about your job? Were you a sort of police force, or did you operate independently to keep the land safe? |
| Lady Rolindin09-27-07, 01:26 AM | Kord says to Landas, "The symbol is that of Celestian, the god of travel. I am a paladin of Celestian. We paladin's and cleric's of Celestian help when and where we can, when we are on that plane or world. It does seem that the celestrails know about as much as I have been told allready, about this thrown of tryannor." |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-27-07, 01:29 AM | Ra'Nal'ek nods slightly to Landas. Running a hand over the strap that holds the metallic shaft. Pressing a few slim fingers against the hollow shaft. "Yes. I was one of those who traveled to the city. The Barrar-Karem was our tribe, and we were those who brought law to that city. It was a place infested with crime, thieves and killers. We brought the law to them, my warriors, the Barrar-Ekel-Norrak are an elite force. We are enforcers, and we solve smaller problems before they become bigger ones. It is unusual that we are the ones needed, but when the problem is too... dangerous. We come. The undead are one of those problems, my people watch the mountains and strike at any that dare to leave the Black Slopes." |
| gabrion09-27-07, 03:20 AM | "The symbol is that of Celestian, the god of travel. I am a paladin of Celestian. We paladin's and cleric's of Celestian help when and where we can, when we are on that plane or world. It does seem that the celestrails know about as much as I have been told allready, about this thrown of tryannor." Interesting. I have studied many divine texts, but I have never heard of Celestian. I supposse this is not so strange though, given that many individuals I have met in these lands are not familiar with my own patron, St. Cuthbert. I am a crusader in his service, charged with upholding the law and bringing justice to those who violate it. Enough of my prattling though, you say that the celestials have told you about the throne of tyrannor. If their words were not meant to be secret, perhaps you could share what they told you with us? It is unusual that we are the ones needed, but when the problem is too... dangerous. We come. The undead are one of those problems, my people watch the mountains and strike at any that dare to leave the Black Slopes." Perhaps one day I will be able to meet your Barrar-Ekel-Norrak, they sound like a group of men I would admire. For now though, this threat of undead you speak of worries me though. Such creatures rarely do more than sow chaos and unrest wherever they walk. Which direction from here is the undead infestation and how far away? Are we likely to see any of the foul creatures on our way to the city? |
| Lady Rolindin09-27-07, 04:50 AM | Kord says to Landas, "You would be suprised by how many of the gods have many names, depending on where you are. St. Cuthbert I have heard of here and there. Then mayhasp you have heard of Fharlanghn the travel god, Celestian's brother. The celestials said the same as the priest did, that the thrown of Trayannor is being sought by many along with the power that comes from the citadel. What powers the thrown has I'll have to talk to ones on this plane that of it's power. The celestials did tell me what they know, but I traveled to their plane and came back to this plane." To Ra' Nal' ek, Kord would say this to him, "I would like to see this place you come from, and the the Black Sloaps. Maybe you can show me some time." I did plans to have Kord travel to a postive plane and talk to the celestials there, now that I know it has been days in the game he would have had the time to do so and come back. I would have like to have played this out on the postive plane and see what they knew. But this should keep this good for the game gm's, not much knowed about the thrown of trayannor. I still would like to have Kord go to one or two postive planes and see what the celestials know. Since like his god he would travel, but come back to help. Since he knows about the thrown of Trayannor now. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-27-07, 02:58 PM | "Perhaps I will take you there some time when there are fewer troubles here. I don't think we will run into any undead on the way to the city, they are far to the south along the southern Mist Wall. Though, the priest did make mention of the one called Sargatanas. If he is in the area we may encounter some undead." |
| Lady Rolindin09-27-07, 04:49 PM | "perhasp we will go to your land but sooner than you believe Ra' Nal' ek. there are ways to travel to places. Then if this Sargatanas is in the area, we can find out more about him and his motives, if there are undead then they will be dealt with" Kord says to them. |
| gabrion09-28-07, 06:28 PM | Kord says to Landas, "You would be suprised by how many of the gods have many names, depending on where you are. St. Cuthbert I have heard of here and there. Then mayhasp you have heard of Fharlanghn the travel god, Celestian's brother." Ah yes, I know well of the Celestian's brother then. In my home city there are several temples to Fharlanghn. My devotion obviously lies elsewhere, but as long as we have a Paladin of a traveling god with us, our journey should go well! "Perhaps I will take you there some time when there are fewer troubles here. I don't think we will run into any undead on the way to the city, they are far to the south along the southern Mist Wall. Though, the priest did make mention of the one called Sargatanas. If he is in the area we may encounter some undead." It would be an honor to travel there some day. As for the undead, I'm glad to hear they are not a plight upon the whole land. It's bad enough to have them popping up in one area, but having a wide-spread problem would obviously be harder to address. If they are contained to one area, it seems likely that the source of the infestation may be found there - either a base of sorts or perhaps a foul necromancer. Have you heard anything of such a place or such an individual? Perhaps this Sargatanas you mention has something to do with it? |
| Lady Rolindin09-29-07, 05:44 PM | "Then landas it should be good traveling to the city, I would like to see what temples are set up in this city. The undead can be a proublem, and I think your right there would be a sorce. Maybe this thrown is the sorce, maybe not. It could be someone has the thrown allready and is using it's powers to make the dead. More knowledge is needed as to what is happeing, that much I know." Kord says to them. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder09-30-07, 04:48 PM | Ra'Nal'ek stops and turns to look at Kord, the metallic shaft sliding down and landing. It's wooden and resting on the ground the other held by Ra'Nal'ek, with the same scratchy voice, a bit louder with a slight hint of anger in it's tone comes from beneath the coverings. "That you would even suggest... that the throne of Tyrannor... and the source it protects. Might be the source of the foul undead... that it's powers would be so terrible and hideous... is an INSULT to all the people of Tyrannor. I would suggest to you... that you never again say such things about the throne of Tyrannor. In fact, if you wish to speak such foul things, then perhaps you should not speak of it at all." Ra'Nal'ek stares at Kord for a bit longer, then turns and continues walking. Glancing over toward Landas and speaking to him more calmly. "What I know of the source of these undead beasts is little. I know they first came to be when Sargatans himself held the Temple of the Damned. It was there tin the Jungle that he created his abominations and gathered them to him. He was rumored dead however... and after his 'death' the blight that now infects the jungle was born. None have been deep enough into it's darkness, for only those of evil can see within it's borders. As far as I know... the Temple still stands in that forest, likely the source of the walking dead." |
| Lady Rolindin09-30-07, 05:45 PM | " Ra' nel' ek what you take as an insult is not meant that by me, Then I appoligize for insulting you and your people. I and others who have only heard of this thrown, even the outsiders who don't have the knowledge of the thrown. I do believe that is why I came on this journey is to learn about the thrown, what is this Sargatanas involvement. What is important is to figure out all this confusion infromation and find out what is going on on Tryannor. That is why Landas and I, I believe are traveling to the city for, to find out more about this thrown and this temple of the damed. Any information you might have about this thrown of Tryannor and this temple of the damed would help to figure out what is going on. If you would not mind sharing what you do know. " Kord say to Ra' Nekl'ek. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder10-02-07, 02:10 AM | "I have told you likely all of what you will learn from the city about the undead. However, the throne itself I am not quite sure about. Perhaps those who guard it shall be able to give us more information on that particular aspect of your questions. I can assure you however that it has nothing to do with the undead in horchound." |
| Lady Rolindin10-02-07, 04:55 AM | "Then Ra' Nek ek I hope for that the thrown has not fallen yet and is proctected well, maybe Sargatans wants the thrown in some kind of way. If he does: he would have to have some help I would think, if alot of them want the thrown also. The guards should be able to help find out what is going on, I hope." Kord says. |
| gabrion10-02-07, 09:33 AM | Perhaps this is a silly question, but what keeps someone who wants the throne from simply walking up and sitting in it? Must some kind of challenges be met in order to claim it, or are these the kinds of answers I will find only when we arrive in Tyrranor? |
| Lady Rolindin10-02-07, 09:57 AM | "That is a good question Landas, If you would not mind Ra' Nek' ek how did the jungle get the name horchound, does the city archives have an history on horchound.?" Kord says. |
| gabrion10-05-07, 12:21 PM | OOC: Assuming we've traveled to the city during the course of our conversation (a the joys of flexible time), should we continue RPing here, or is there a better place to continue that would reflect the fact that we are in Tyrannor Proper? |
| CaptainShar10-05-07, 01:32 PM | Actually, Aramar was scheduled to start the "Tyrannor City" thread. Hang on while I poke him. |
| Lady Rolindin10-05-07, 10:22 PM | we can still try to keep the talk up between the two characters, orcy will answer when he does. |
| Aramar the Black10-06-07, 12:07 AM | OOC note: Tyrannor City thread will be up this weekend. Expect late tomorrow afternoon at the latest. Just so you know. |
| gabrion10-07-07, 03:56 PM | OOC: Thx for opening that other thread Aramar. Kord and Ra'Nal'ek, I'm going to assume we all made it to the city and we can carry on RP in that thread now. |
| CaptainShar10-29-07, 12:36 PM | Aye, Kady. (OOC: Do you want Korraemus raised, Demonfey?) Let's head to the city. We can probably find something that will let us see in that darkness. Otherwise, I think we can do pretty well. |
| demonfey0210-29-07, 05:15 PM | (Don't know yet. On the one hand, his track record sucks, but on the other, I don't have an idea to replace him with yet...) |
| demonfey0211-04-07, 02:06 PM | (To answer the question about Korraemus, I'm thinking no, he stays dead. I have no clue where I'd really take the character.) |
| CaptainShar11-05-07, 01:45 PM | Feel rested enough to travel again, Kady? I need some arrows and something to let us see in that infernal darkness. |
| Lady Rolindin11-19-07, 12:22 PM | Kord makes his way back with Landis with him and while Ra' Nal' ek is doing his business in the city. |
| CaptainShar11-19-07, 11:17 PM | Welcome back, Kord. Found what you were looking for? |
| Lady Rolindin11-20-07, 12:04 AM | Kord says this, "I have found some answers but not what is needed to be known. I know the thrown guards have their secerts they have to keep, that I accept. What needs to be found out is if this Saragatanas has help from the other guilds, and witch guilds would help him in his quest. I think the next step is too prepare to meet this saragatans in the jungle, and try to stop him from gaining back his seat of power. Then at the same time make sure this other new leader can't use the temple of the damed for perposes that would hurt the common good at the same time. Is there a temple of Farlanghn near, the priest might have heard something in their travels." |
| CaptainShar11-20-07, 12:32 PM | Funny thing, that's just where I came from. If you want to help me mount the next attack that's great. I think it'd be good to have at least two. But first we need to go to the city and buy something to let us see in that darkness. And I need some more arrows. |
| Lady Rolindin11-20-07, 07:18 PM | Kord says " then maybe I should go back to the city again, You could tell me more about the jungle. I do have some questions about the jungle. Then It would a pleasure to go to the city with you. Have you though about holy arrows, they work really well against undead things" |
| CaptainShar11-21-07, 10:49 AM | Why bother with holy arrows when I've got a holy bow? Nedin waves goodbye to Kady and Ray and starts getting his things together again to leave for the city. |
| Lady Rolindin11-21-07, 04:02 PM | "Then it sounds like you need a quiver of plenty, you would not run out of arrows then. Is there someone who would be able to tell us about this jungle and why it is always dark then? what is the cause of the darkness, if the darkness is magicaly made it could be stoped and light return. Do you know what is causing the darkness? Of course those that enter the junjle would need a way to see in this darkness till the darkness is stopped.." Kord says to Nedin. |
| CaptainShar11-21-07, 11:08 PM | No idea! The pixie says cheerfully. We heard there were a ton 'o undead and so we set to work clearing out a few. We ran into a great big 'un, and my buddy Korraemus here died. But the little skellies just go pop! |
| Lady Rolindin11-22-07, 09:19 PM | Kord thinks for a moment, "Then we should be on our way, unless you wish to get there faster." |
| CaptainShar11-22-07, 10:00 PM | Let's go, then. Nedin lifts his little pack and starts flying toward the city. What style of fighting do you generally take? I'm an archer, as you might guess, and I'm good at stealth too. |
| Lady Rolindin11-23-07, 12:32 AM | "Fighting lets see what any weapon that needs to be used, is the best answer I can give. I was thinking your light enought for to come to the city with me, if you wish not to fly there." Kord says to the pixie. |
| CaptainShar11-23-07, 10:41 PM | Well then! I won't give up a ride when it's offered. You won't even notice me, I swear. Nedin sits lightly on Kord's shoulder and goes invisible. (You can post the return to the city.) |
| Lady Rolindin11-23-07, 10:53 PM | Then lord and Nedin disappear and reappear close to the city gates. |
| Sargatanas12-09-07, 11:00 PM | A ghostly figure floats forward out of the surrounding terrain. It moves quietly toward the gates of the halls, it's cold eyes scanning the building's exterior and apparently not liking what it finds. Still it comes forward and hovers before the doorway. |
| CaptainShar12-10-07, 12:08 AM | Welcome to the Halls of Refuge. Are you in need of one of our...more advanced clerics? |
| Sargatanas12-11-07, 08:37 PM | The ghost's head move silently side to side. Dead eyes watch with amusement before a smirk touches a faint outline of lips. "Require... a purchase... for another..." It leans forward and whispers in the man or woman's ear. |
| CaptainShar12-12-07, 12:58 AM | The man nods. For what purpose? Have you money or do you come requesting charity? We can help you, but we require an explanation for so great a request. Sometimes it is better to let loved ones move on...but in your case I guess it is something more complicated. |
| Sargatanas12-12-07, 01:32 AM | "A display of... good will, offered by... the lord. Charity... if you wish... pay if not. I can explain no more." |
| CaptainShar12-12-07, 01:54 AM | Oh, it would have to be a difficult one today...I'm not usually on today, but the other woman's child is having a birthday and I got called in... He glances around him. Well, I guess you'll have to come in while I get some the priests to review your request. You might have more luck with them if you explain yourself though. I dunno. I just look out at the gate here. The man shrugs and waves the ghost over to a crossing priest, who takes over and again asks him what he wants and why. |
| Sargatanas12-12-07, 11:06 PM | The ghost repeats it's request, stating again that it is for 'the Lord's gesture of good will.' It hovers infront of the priest silently after speaking. |
| CaptainShar12-12-07, 11:20 PM | And which Lord would that be, sir? A god, or a mortal master? She motions him to follow her to the dining hall where it seems that most business is informally conducted. Other clerics, priests, and nurses are there as well. |
| Sargatanas12-12-07, 11:35 PM | "You know well... what lord I serve. The only Lord that matters... to the dead and dying. He who freely offers his gifts... The Lord of the Damned... Sargatanas himself." |
| CaptainShar12-12-07, 11:39 PM | The mention of this name causes a small ripple with those close enough to hear. The priest looks him square in the eye. Sorry, we never hand out scrolls of resurrection to people without a good explanation. And we would require even greater assurance to support the project of an undead tyrant. |
| Sargatanas12-12-07, 11:54 PM | "Is not your purpose to support those... in need? Yet you turn down my Lord when he requires something... most... strange. You prove him... correct you know? The way you spit... the word undead, like it was a foul, rotting berry you must expel before it poisons you. You prove his cause just, denying him because he is undead, when it is his goal... to unite." |
| CaptainShar12-12-07, 11:58 PM | No, it's not because he's undead. We partner with many souls who have passed beyond a fleshly existence in this world. It's because, She raises her eyebrow, of the threats he made the last time he was here. |
| Sargatanas12-13-07, 12:02 AM | "What threats did... my Lord make to you and your people? He made a bargain with one of your own, who granted him bodies. In return he will use these bodies to bring war to the chaotic and violent undead ursurper that sits on his throne. That has stolen, and uses his power for chaos. This is... a threat?" |
| CaptainShar12-13-07, 12:14 AM | Nedin told us that Sargatanas promised to use force to take the bodies - and would slay Nedin and take him as well - if the corpses were not surrendered. That sounds like a threat to me. The woman sighs. If you really want me to pretend that I hate ghosts, I can. But they've never really bothered me. I don't understand why you're trying to make this into an argument. You asked for a scroll, and I told you the rules for getting one. |
| Sargatanas12-13-07, 12:23 AM | The ghost's faint lips spread into a smile, it's voice full of haunted and whispering amusement. "That is a lie. There were no threats made in the aquisition of the bodies. The proposal was made and it was accepted, after a short debate. As well, you have given no 'rules' to getting a scroll, only that you will not give one. You ask for explination, is this what you mean by 'rules' for aquiring a scroll?" |
| CaptainShar12-13-07, 11:14 AM | Yes. A scroll of Resurrection is no small thing. The priests here must agree on the validity of the request before we will give one away. If we did not verify the requests, we would get far too many people who claimed they needed one for charity and just wanted to sell it, or people raising their dear old grandmothers who have lived out their time anyway. It's standard procedure. You explain why you need one, and then we evaluate whether we can spare one. She smiles at him thinly, her patience beginning to wear thin. (Roll a Bluff check if you really want her to believe your interpretation of the events.) |
| Sargatanas12-13-07, 11:54 AM | (It isn't an interpretation, read page 2 again. There WERE no threats. Nedin handed them over, when threats started was when Nedin tried ta spy on sargatanas.) "I have said... a gesture of good will. To show that my Lord does not seek to destroy the world and raise it under his command. Unity is his goal... he has never wished to create a world of mindless undead. You wish to know what he wishes to use the scroll on... I cannot persuade you otherwise despite the obvious lies you have been told of him?" |
| CaptainShar12-13-07, 10:46 PM | Look, we don't even give them to staff members without a record of use. Most of the people are ignoring the ghost now - people in the Halls tend to spend a long time asking for things. She sighs, and composes herself. I'm sorry. It's been a busy day. How about we give you one and send a priest along to administer it, and when he's there he can evaluate the situation? Obviously we don't want to stand in the way of bringing some soul back to their grieving family. |
| Sargatanas12-14-07, 01:13 AM | "If your priest has the appropriate protections to enter the cursed Jungle. To travel to the Temple of the Damned, then he may accompany. At this... time, we do not have the... protective means available to provide." |
| CaptainShar12-14-07, 12:42 PM | Flickshure? The woman calls loudly. A small flaming flying creature races into the hall, looking incredibly put out. What is it this time? Must I bring succor to a maiden trapped in a volcano fortress? Or maybe administer your "peace" to some poor creature who's finally made it to hell? Tell me your command, I must serve my time. The priest explains the situation to the small half-fiendish fire elemental. She turns back to the ghost. Apparently where he's from if you aren't evil enough in life you get sent to a hell where you have to heal people. And this is it. He's quite penitent and reliable in carrying out his "punishment." The little creature, still grumbling, flies out of the room for a moment, returns flourishing a scroll, and tucks it away somewhere in his flaming person. |
| turalisj12-14-07, 06:08 PM | tibur crawled out from under a box, Kamate strapped to his side and a hand to his head. Uh... last time I challenge a dwarf to a drinking contest... What's been happening? |
| Sargatanas12-14-07, 06:26 PM | The ghost's form flickers out for a moment, reappearing facing the other direction. "Very well." On a trail of mist it floats out the door. |
| CaptainShar12-15-07, 01:50 AM | *Flickshure will follow the ghost.* *** Who are you, and why are you here? The woman asks Kamate. |
| turalisj12-17-07, 06:30 PM | ooc: psst, kamate is the sword. Have I been asleep that long? I am Tibur Caes'Usk, lord of the Iron Dragon mercenary company and master of the Iron Heart school of swordsmanship. Tibur said, standing up to his not so impressive full hieght of 2'5". |
| CaptainShar12-17-07, 07:15 PM | Welcome, Tibur. We are a house of rest. The woman smiles amusedly. Would you like to be guided to our front gate, perhaps? |
| turalisj12-18-07, 07:24 AM | 'Tis ok m'lady. I've been here before. He stretched his wings and floated into the air, flying towards the door. |
| Aramar the Black12-20-07, 06:46 PM | A skinny messenger come to the gates of the Hall, inquiring as to the whereabouts of the leader of the Hall. "I have a paper here for just him or her, see." |
| CaptainShar12-20-07, 09:44 PM | We're working in the collective at the moment, I'm afraid. We were affiliated with the Guild of Paladins but their leader hasn't been seen for weeks, months even. |
| Aramar the Black12-21-07, 11:54 AM | "Um, well then, have you some sort of de-facto leader or representitive? I'm sure this message is meant for only one person." |
| CaptainShar12-21-07, 01:24 PM | Give it to Wurling, I guess. He and Thrace both claim to be the most skilled healers but I think Wurling is perhaps just a bit more devoted to his god...Thrace is a Pelorite, though, and so the god itself may be a bit more powerful than Wurling's poor mountain god... The priest walks him into the common room and points out Wurling and Thrace. |
